The Benavidez/Bam card is the level of stacked I've been waiting almost an entire year now for. I expected Canelo/Crawford to have a better undercard after how vocal Turki was about recruiting fan friendly fighters for it, but can't complain about Mbilli and Bohachuk in against solid competition. Personly I think Ball's boxing skills seems to be overlooked and he's one of the more skilled come forward fighters right now IMO. Very good punch selection, doesn't aimlessly plod forward,never runs out of steam, and an underrated ring IQ. He does seem to have defensive liability and also vulnerable to body shots. Still it's quite astonishing that for such a short fighter he's a hard man to deal with , especially how he managed to beat Raymond Ford in a close fight. I would even say that he would give Inoue some issues should they meet in the future. Very entertaining fighter to watch.

why was inoue dropped by the same punch twice? what would you call it, a left hook? either way he seems to not be taking it seriously. he might honestly lose to ball, ball will load everything into his left and he seems to have the knockout power and dirty enough tactics to upset inoue.

He keeps getting countered as he's coming in aggressive and his opponents are banking on that. Nery is a proven counter puncher, and people were sleeping on Cardenas but he had the same game plan. Ball isn't as much of a counter puncher but I'm sure he'll be waiting for Inoue to do the same thing. Ball wants a guy who is aggressive and will come in and trade with him. Inoue can't afford to be reckless with Ball. I said it in the previous threads and people scoffed, but nobody gave Ramon Cardenas a chance and I think Ball is better than him, and hits harder. And what you say about the dirty fighting is true too. Ball toned it down last fight, but he was still doing a lot of pushing, shoving, and just being dirty but not so dirty as to draw attention. It may not seem like a lot, but those kinds of moves will get the fight going in your favor and could upset Inoue, especially with Inoue being the smaller guy. Don't write Ball off. Everyone knows defensively he's not very good, nor is his footwork, and his size and reach is extremely limiting. But if Inoue keeps trying to crash the pocket with that big ego of his and gets too cocky, that may give Ball the exact opportunity he needs to knock him down so hard that Inoue doesn't get up. Remember, Inoue is moving up multiple weight classes to fight ball who has a LOT of muscle for his size, and Inoue has been down twice recently. Ball hasn't been in there with a puncher so it's hard to say how tough he is, but I think he's decently tough, yet to be knocked down despite eating clean shots. If Inoue fights a smart fight I do think he will knock out ball, but if he fights recklessly like he's known to do...I give Ball a chance for the upset.

He's such an interesting fighter to me. He reminds me a bit of an old school fighter. Doesn't have the reach or height so constantly has to lunge, but throws multiple punches lunching in rather than just one or two, and it catches people off guard. In the first half of the fight, he tends to struggle finding his range, but he's really quite good at swarming people and his lunging shots are what hurt the most. The grappling and dirty fighting is definitely there to counteract people who don't want to engage with him or are afraid of his power. If they wont fight he just flips them around until they're so flustered he winds up landing another one of his lunging shots. Physically he is limited in size and range, but not power, and certainly not his gas tank either. He throws a lot of punches and they're hard punches, and he can do it all night. He's one of those guys that finds his footing more and more as the night goes on and wears you down slowly with the pressure. A lot of his fights I haven't been impressed but I genuinely think he's improving. Not saying he's elite or anything, but I think against Goodman he proved he's the rightful champ.

The more inoue moves up in weight, the less his power is going to carry over and many foresaw that. A few pounds here or there doesn't seem like a lot, but eventually there will be a point where Inoue's crazy 90% KO ratio is going to dwindle if he keeps moving up, and he's going to be more susceptible to getting knocked out the further he climbs. Inoue has taken a decent amount of punishment for an 'elite' guy, the Japanese style is inherently reckless as I'm sure many of you have realized by now. That damage will shorten his life as a top fighter. Ball is fresher, he's still learning, he's better than people realize. He has a chance, but I always thought Ball's undoing would be when he faces against a guy who is a great counter puncher that knows to keep his distance and knows to punish Ball's lunging, and also stifle Ball before he can even get started with a strong jab. Not a pure outboxer, but just someone who can punish Ball's bad habits with power. Ball against Nery would be an interesting one. Ball vs Espinoza I'd like to see as well. Ball should try and go for another belt while Inoue is climbing up. Who knows if Inoue even gets through his next fight. I like Inoue, but he's reckless. I think he is far more vulnerable to losing than the likes of an Usyk, Bam Rodriguez, even Crawford.

If you slow it down to 0.25 speed at 2.05 minutes you can see he actually throws the left uppercut and right hand almost simultaneously so he doesn’t get intercepted after throwing.

You can see his right hand is already about to land as he’s just landed a lead uppercut, it puts his body in quite a strange position with both arms extended but he gets away with it because the opponent doesn’t have any time to react. The mini Mike Tyson indeed. I think he's earned the title. Being a small target can also work to his benefit. Mike was small for a heavyweight, he had to lunge a lot as well. He used weird angles. If only Nick could bob and weave like that, it'd be great. If Nick could just tighten up his defense he'd be a lot more well rounded. But in the previous fight I think he was using his footwork better and even doing some counter punching mind games ala canelo where he stands there baiting someone to come in and fight, and Goodman took the bait early on! (and got hurt then started fighting way more passively)

I’ve noticed this “double punch” effect a lot with Ball. Of course it helps his arms are so short they have less time to travel. Fighting Ball on the inside is a massive mistake, if Inoue does that as he is very partial to it could go either way. The nightmare matchup for Ball would be someone who just keeps him at bay the whole fight with a stiff jab and double jab, of course that’s easier said than done.

Inoue-Ball is peak little man boxing. You know it’s going to be an absolute war until one of them gets KTFO. Like a brutal face planting one. We know Inoue’s recovery is good when he’s dropped badly, we don’t know how Ball would react yet, so far Ball’s chin has held up better at a higher weight class.

Catteral proved everything he needed to me when he battered Taylor in their first fight to show he's a high quality fighter. catteral might be extremely boring, maybe even a little more so than Haney is but you will never see him dropping his hands and opening himself up to the left hook like Haney did on numerous occasions while throwing.
