Extreme oversimplification: there's two types of muscular hypertrophy, myofibrillar and sarcoplasmic. I'm not very experienced, but one of the first things in my martial arts training I learned was sprawling and anticipating takedowns. I didn't see Dricus even use even the most basic possible techniques to actually stuff an attempted takedown.

Also, my other problem with this wrestlefucking stuff is it seems like all they train and practice for is exclusively taking someone down and just... holding them there. They don't really try to strike, or go for an actual submission, they just try to lay on top of them as long as possible without having to do much else. If this fight went 10 rounds, I could legitimately see Dricus winning at some point just because Khamzat wasn't actually doing anything to finish it and was just stalling, and even then nearly lost control by the end of it and was in a dangerous position a couple times. So it's much less effective at demonstrating being a true "fighting champion".
