Which city are you in? Do they have a stadium? Do you think the club can make an impact in the city? Are you planning to attend matches?
It sounds interesting. Starting a club in the modern day ...

They call it football. Only wypipo and blakpipo call it soccer here.

>Which city are you in?
Memphis.
>Do they have a stadium?
Yes, with 2500 seats.
>Do you think the club can make an impact in the city?
Not really.
>Are you planning to attend matches?
Yes, assuming the tickets are cheap.

Burger league has lower divisions? I thought you had no relegation/promotion
Anonymous United States No.150859517 [Report] >>150859532
>>150859490
they don't have relegation or promotion, but they have minor leagues for smaller cities that MLS has deemed not worth granting franchises, too.

I thought you already had a club, but I see they disbanded in 2024. You live in a bigger city than I expected, so yeah, sounds impossible to make an impression a city with an NBA team
2,500 seats is very cute. Might be comfy
I hope you'll get cheap tickets and decent fan culture
Anonymous United States No.150859555 [Report] >>150859605

no.
usl2/upsl/npsl are all 4th tier semi-pro/amateur leagues that compete rather than combining for one solid league.
USL might add pro/rel within their pyramid of uslc/usl1/usl2 but it'd be really hard due to travel for these smaller teams

sure but it's still dwarfed by mls, they aren't even close to the same level in any way.
avg attendance is like 5k vs 22k, tv deal non-existent, players are trash, etc

They should just get that process over with already. I know we talk relentlessly about nobody in our country giving a shit about soccer/footy, but there’s still a large enough player pool to establish a plethora of additional teams and form the pyramid structure.
Unless you're a 35 year old washed up player from Europe, all professional soccer players over here get paid like shit, and only small handfuls of nerds follow MLS and USL, so the act of getting relegated shouldn’t be too impactful.

if you are a true american, ie of pure anglo stock, you need to engage in the truest of anglo pastimes: getting drunk at the footy and hurling abuse at everyone (your players, their players, the manager, the ref, the fans)

I live in a city with a decently run, decently popular USL Championship team and the answer is not really, the college teams are more popular and much more tied in with the identity of being from here. But the USL still gets an attendance of like 8-10k and local sponsorships which is probably enough to pay the guys idk math teacher money and run the thing profitably, and it hasn't really been around that long so it will get less "plastic" over time.

I follow them very casually, like I'll go to games sometimes just because it's nice out and the stadium is a bike ride away from me. I would struggle to name more than a few of the players.

I think the whole enterprise has more in common with US minor league sports (family friendly, good game day experience with stuff like food/drink, minimal attachment to the team unless you are a weird capo who sings) than anything abroad. I would like to see it eventually build up to promotion-relegation with the MLS but I understand why that would never get buy-in from MLS team owners

>>150860945
yes but here that would lead to bankruptcy for a team
you need several thousand fans if you wanna be above a local amateur league club
