Basically everyone in the NASCAR system these days is clutchless downshifting and shocking the rear tires every time they don't rev match perfectly, Supercars is the only analogous series of heavy undertired shitboxes with manual downshifting but unlike Cup they've had 6 speed gearboxes and more stop go tracks for a long time while say a lap around Watkins Glen in a gen 6 car had about 4 downshifts for the entire lap. Also, is there any chance they will break up the track ownership cartel? It's infuriating that so many tracks sit idle every season and that some tracks only hose an event once a year. Honestly, that's my biggest issue. I'd like to see CARS Tour and ??? Other late model series running at Kentucky or any of the other unused tracks they are squatting on. I just want to see a competitor to NASCAR. That way, they actually have some pressure from the fans. I just don't think that's possible with the current situation.

While Cup cars should be 1200HP V8 Hybrid monsters, IMO the most impactful thing NASCAR could do to make the racing better is to adjust the natural aero balance of the car to be less front-limited and more rear-limited.
The way the rules currently are and how teams set up their cars, they're pretty balanced in clean air and super tight in traffic. If you move the aero balance forward adjust height rules as needed, you could in theory make the natural state of the car pretty balanced in traffic, but super loose in clean air. That way when someone gets clean air, the advantage they get is somewhat negated by drag from front downforce they don't need/can't use anyway. If anything it might fool some drivers into getting clean air and then immediately spinning out because they feel like superman for .2 seconds into the next corner.

It doesn't matter whether the front, the back, or all 4 wheels are sliding, you're still going to go slower. As far as I know the current Cup car is engineered to have very little balance change in dirty air. Mandating ride heights to skew the aero balance is only an annoyance on ovals where there's (with minor exception) only one speed of corner on the track, you will just get super soft rear springs, massive front springs, massive front swaybars, super understeery geometry and/or ballast placement, etc. to get the balance back unless you want to just IROC the entire fucking thing, you don't need to worry about it understeering in the 1st gear hairpin with all of that because there isn't one.

At any given moment 95% of the cars on track are in dirty air, so it's not like cars aren't already set up to handle in dirty air and it's not like you see them spinning out the moment they get out of traffic. In general you don't really hear complaints about the balance going away based on traffic/clean air like you did in the gen 4 or CoT days, just on the fastest tracks cars set up for low drag in hopes of qualifying well and staying out front not having enough downforce in traffic.

I think it was that insider interview with Jimmy a few months ago, but somewhere I heard that a large part of the reason they have the HP lowered on the current Cup cars is to increase engine life and therefore lower cost. Which actually makes sense because cost cutting was part of the reason behind this faggy new car. Anyway, I for one, welcome the power increase and it will be interesting to see how the engines hold up. I just wish it was every track.

I just realized that NASCAR may be about to, again, make two massive changes at once where one of them was only ever asked for because they were refusing to budge on the other and is completely pointless, if not actively detrimental, when that other one is made.
Last time: reduction of 1.5mi triovals at the schedule at the same time as the introduction of the Gen7 car.

Yeah I have, about 15 years ago. It's pretty great if you like barbequed meat, drinking all afternoon and Aussie rock music from the 70s and 80s (which I do). The bogan factor is high, but it adds to the atmosphere IMO.
