So the playoffs are staying, there will still be rounds and cutoffs, but no points resets and the final round is gonna be like 3-4 races. The format will massively reward the team that has the best regular season, but there will be opportunities in the playoffs for the rest. Feels like a fair compromise.

Earlier this weekend Steve Phelps said something to the effect of how his Giants won a Superbowl (referencing Patriots 18-1), and nobody questions it. But in NASCAR, the fans are different and DO question legitimacy. He said he was surprised by this.

The most obvious answer to this conundrum is that the Superb Owl winner has ALWAYS been champion, no matter what. It's all living NFL fans have ever known. If NASCAR thinks this format is correct (it's not), they should stay with it and make no changes. Fans eventually come around, but constantly changing format will always keep a sizable portion of the fanbase upset.

tldr NASCAR needs to pick a format and stay with it for the next 40 years. Tweak rules and shit, sure, but not how you crown a champ.

After each race, whoever finishes last should be eliminated. Keep going until only 1 is left
