>>95884239>>95884359>>95884420That's cool. It stops the setting from feeling a bit too dense, since it would be a very hectic year if all the AJ's were set in the same year. I guess it allows the AJ's with no specified dates like the High Elves and Warriors of Chaos to be slotted in where they make sense.
And I like that the timeline is already pushing forwards a bit.
When do you think the Cathayan AJ will be set?
>>95884519set after the WoC since the Cathyian are doing an expiration due to the events of the WoC and Beastmen AJ
My local Warhammer store had one Kralmaw. Didn't expect them to carry resin characters in-store, thought they were online only
>>95884361 (OP)How her babies are born ? Does she lay eggs in her dragon form or have to keep her human form for 9 months and then push them out ?
>>95884536depends on the store, but your general hole-in-the-wall stores you find in the UK is only ever going to stock the bare minimum of 40k and AoS kits, but the bigger ones will generally stock every game currently supported by GW
>>95884537C section in her dragon form for human babies, 9 months of waiting in her human form for longmas.

> Chaos> A shrieking vortex, noise without meaning, a cacophony that devours thought. This is soothing to those who are initiated, but unbearable for others
>>95884537most likely the latter
>>95884537Eggs. She's gravid and lays shitloads off them at a time.
>>95884537I found a mod on TWW where...the answer to this question was given.

Kind of fucked I know but add in some goatmen throat singing on top of it. For my beastmen army run by a wood elf sorceress who chose to fall to slaanesh
Do you guys think the Cathay battalion was a typo or did they kneel to public pressure?
>>95884361 (OP)>>TQ: Post your factions theme music>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSOiiIrwXSII always found this very fitting, not necessarily for the lyrics, but the instrumentalization and the general sound.
>>95884669It was probably just some miscommunication between the GW team and the interns running the War Com site.
>or did they kneel to public pressure? If GW actively bent to public pressure they would have reversed the end times 8 years ago.
>list has 2 shadowdancers in it
>dont want the same pose on both models
is there an alternate model for the shadowdancer? with a spear
or something cool with a spear that could make a good shadowdancer
>>95884703Not ideal but with some green stuff and snipping doing a weapon swap doesnโt seem too difficult. And if you have never worked with green stuff, itโs a perfect starter project.
Remember when the game was going to be about the War of Three Emperors and it looked like we might get specific Imperial lists for each faction?
>>95883923>nippon is just ruled by the cathayan shadow dragon and all nipponese culture is just an edgy teenage ripoff of cathayan culturehow did this get past the sensitivity team?
>>95884506Even as a TWW hater I have to admit the
>Forsaken>Abandoned to the dark>What choice but to follow the flame?Intro trailer for them in TWW goes incredibly hard.
>>95884669I think they tried to get away with making it FOMO and backtracked.
>>95884361 (OP)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HiOuTpi5dg&ab_channel=YearsOfSilence
Love me some primitive wild wood elves
>>95884731No, and thank fuck for that. Game would be boring as shit, imagine trying to take the setting seriously while also being so limited in scope.
Is Chaos Warriors the most aggressive faction (with either 2 dragons or cavalry lists) after the Bretonnia? Or is it the Vampires (even if it's only for the Blood Knights)?
>>95884846I think mercenary/Sigmarite/kinda evil and amoral divisions for AoI would have been better than what we got honestly. The nuln army is nonfunctional and the knightly order one should have just been the Empre core rules.
Is bringing dragons to a casual match bad manners?
>>95884888IMO - one is Ok. For two I'd ask my opponent if he'd be Ok with two. If he's on board - it's alright, else I'd limit my list to one.
>>95884888Kinda yeah. I have no idea what constitutes a casual match of TOW though.
>>95884858>he only brings 2 dragons in chaos
>>95884917While you can bring three, I don't think it's a good idea - without items or abilities the HQ is just bad, even with dragons.
>>95884649So you going to give the answer or...?
>>95884956Is that true? The chaos lord comes frontloaded with a lot more stuff than most other factions' lords
>native 4+/5++>native magic weapon with a -1AP modifier>native stacking buffs from eye of the godsEspecially with the rumored nerfs, I'm not sure kitting him out really increases the effectiveness of the dragon that much.
>>95884361 (OP)>TQOrcs & Goblins
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=havhaDYh0Sc
>>95884969Two naked dragons are 960 points. You only have 40 left. Best you can do is level 4 Sorcerer + one mark on one character OR one normal "item" on the Lord (like Crown of Everlasting Conquest or Enchanting Aura). But you can't take Infernal Puppet, for example.
It could be silly list, or a list to flex on a novice player. But I don't think it would win you any tournament places.
As for the rumors - I'd like to actually see the book before stating anything.
>>95884956Most competive lists swap between making the most choppiest fucking dragon lord possible, and spamming footwizards with maybe 1 dragon on the side
For example this got 3rd in a recent GT
https://woehammer.com/2025/03/13/top-three-old-world-lists-for-the-old-world-legends-open-gt-2000/
>>95885055>Two naked dragonsnaked dragons?
>>95885055I think Infernal Puppet is the only must-take item in the chaos list, so I actually do prefer taking a dragon lord, a level 4 sorcerer with that, and then I probably prefer 2 x giant chaos spawn over the warpfire dragon too but both are pretty valid IMO.
I just don't think the dragon spam list is that bad either. Chaos warriors are unfortunately pretty much forced into skew lists in the first place, so I don't think going even more skew is actually that much worse than the most optimal list.
>>95885085Armor of Meteoric Iron on the SL is an odd pick.
>>95884669>>95884759I doubt that's the case. I think it's a genuine mistake only because pre orders go up in like 5 days which isn't really enough time to shift a product from limited supply (meaning it wasn't being produced anymore probably for a little while) back into regular supply.
>>95884731considering warcom has practically confirmed armies can and will get multiple arcane journals, an arcane journal that reintroduces the old metal ulrican units and sets their army of infamy against another imperial subfaction, isn't entirely out of the realm of possibilities
>>95884739it's speculation and headcanon, we actually know jack shit about the shadow dragon or about nippon
if anything, the cathay sensibility team will make sure nippon is completely memory holed and never touched upon
>>95884888how protected are you going to make it? what percentage of the total army's points is it occupying?
>>95884864The nuln army being nonfuncional is a product of bad game balance. Not the actual Nuln army.
>>95885137Honestly most interested in the Westerland army as a possible en-route to Dogs of War but yeah, could be.
>>95884864>The nuln army is nonfunctionalIt's not nonfucntional just because you can't spam cannons.
>>95885102It is against harmony!
>>95884858So, dragons question aside, what do you think about faction\list aggressiveness?
>>95884537The dragons likely spend most of their lives in human form, so odds are she just carries her children to term like a normal immortal woman.
>>95884888If fully painted in a fully painted and based army it's acceptable if you aren't a cunt and can bench at least 300lbs

I hope wave 2 Cathay has the peasant levies and crossbow jade warriors.
I just remembered I have a bunch of unpainted Watchful I terracotta soldiers, can probably get away using them as something.
I really like the idea of a Knightly Orders army conceptually but I feel like tabletop wise theyd be shit. You get to choose between knights, better knights, pistoliers and some missile troops. I mean I'm not sure what I'm expecting from a knight army but still it doesn't sound fun to play as. Has anyone actually tried them yet?
>>95885251Maybe GW changes it, but Miao can randomly say she yearns for her true form on the campaign map.
>>95885272I think knights can be pretty good actually if you lean into artillery+knights instead of pure cav
>>95885272That are shit because of the restrictions on wizards.
If you can't take a lvl 4, you are shit. It's just how it is.
>>95885272Knights of the white wolf are good. Everything else is pretty situational or theme only. Mainly just use it as an upgrade for the knights in your default list rather than going with the army of infamy IMO.
>>95885314>If you can't take a lvl 4, you are shit. It's just how it is.Counterpoint Bret Flying Circus runs no casters and is incredibly powerful
>>95885327Name one other list that has no wizards and is that competitive.
Pegasus are broken as fuck, we know
>>95885379Lmao fuck that faggot
>>95885379I donโt care for named characters, especially badly written ones.
>>95885289Which indicates she's almost never in dragon form.
Ever play fire emblem? Nowi the girl that turns into a dragon has several lines about her random yearning desire to go on a rampage. Something her children share.
She still spends most of her time as a human.
>>95885379I have literally never ever seen anyone care about karl franz here on /tg/ before total war
or gelt for that matter
>>95885364Genuine question cause I've not played one yet, but the new minotaurs list maybe?
>>95885450New Minotaur list canโt be good because it gives Impetous as an army rule. Not a lvl 4 but they do have access to a Doombull caster too
>>95885445I liked Franz after reading the black fire pass short story in the 5th edition rulebook as a kid.
>>95885379>I miss Karl Franz.Poor taste.
I miss Grimgor.
>fire emblem mentioned
This board, this general, this hobby, is forever ruined.
>>95884649that's my fetish
gimme the mod
>>95885364Ahem
>dwarfsDidn't think that one through did ya?
>>95885450See
>>95885465It also doesn't help you can just do a minotaur heavy list in the grand army without any impetuous downsides (truly one of the stupidest rules ever included in WHFB, how unsurprising it's one they invited for TOW)
Both are WIPs which skin colour do you prefer?
>>95884669I think the article writer just wasn't given any info about it being a regular item and had to make an assumption as the information was required in the article and used past experience to make a guess. something like "they normally tell me if it's a regular stock item and they didn't say anything this time so it's probably limited and I need to mention it in my article"
>>95884361 (OP)>>TOW:>https://gofile.io/d/fxFgXSbetter quality of the raa roo journal is up
>>95885514One spam list doesn't use magic, the other uses the anvil which is magic.
>>95885527They're very similar. Right stands out a little more which would probably looks nicer.
>>95884361 (OP)Empire is basicaly germany so I guess this is fitting. Otherwise any prussian or Landsknecht music.
>>95885550What are the good units for Dwarf lists anyway? Coming from Lizards, we only really have 2 choices for main infantry blocks and they're both not that good and they both do the same thing. Dwarfs on the other hand have warriors, longbeards, hammerers, ironbreakers, miners, slayers, plus lots of similar ranged units. I've been thinking about getting some Dwarfs but I really have no idea where to even start
>>95885527Right looks like he's lubed up
>>95885595Longbeard/hammerer brick with rune of caution/hesitation is disgusting. There's a reason it is competitive

>>95885595Dwarves are so lacking in the basics to make a non bullshit list, they have two competitive options.
Option one. Spam gyrocopters and some rangers, their stupid thane that shoots a dozen times on 2s. All their shit is less than like 90 points, it's a cloud of mobile garbage trying to kill 1k points of your list and give up less than 500.
Option two. Bullshit deathstar. It's 1500ish points of bullshit in one basically unkillable deathstar. It wins by killing roughly 500 points of your list while you don't get more than 400ish of theirs.
It's the shittest form of game play
My Warriors of Chaos battalion just arrived :3
Just bought a metal bullcentaur for 4โฌ. He's missing both his hands. I guess with some dwarfs hands, I can turn him into a standart bearer
>>95885652Is this better or worse than the aliexpress high elf ethereal dragon that got patched out?
>>95884361 (OP)>TQ A lot of Wind Rose songs come to mind but it was always this one. There's quite a few dwarfy songs that are bit jokey but this one takes the idea of dwarfen work seriously on top of just sounding awesome. Anyways, this is what I will blast when the throng is fully mustered (not in pic are 18 dwarf rangers and a bolt thrower)

>>95885527left
The right is a bit too glossy
>>95885690Also I've been wanting to ask this. On a king on shieldbearers, rune of smiting or skalf?
>>95885527Thats a gap right? Green stuff some shit on that mf face.
>>95884752It really does.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTFywoAXuQU&t=6s
The Chorfs' portrayal within Total Warhammer should be enough of an incentive for GW to bring them to TOW (much like with Cathay).
>>95885690Is that Belegar in the bottom middle?
What a beautiful model.
>>95885711on the face? It's a big ass mould line. Didn't check before painting
>>95885722In TOW he is just a generic Thane/King model now
>>95885527They look the same, but i would say the left one (because it looks less shiny)
>>95885536Yeah probably playing it safe too. Better to be wrong about it being a limited release than being wrong about it being a permanent set.
Beastmen MTOs being sent out
>>95885625>>95885652That's kinda lame, but thanks. Probably won't try to make the most busted competitive lists, but it's good to know what works at least.
>>95885587https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc5dIlYNVrI
Forgot to post ;(
>>95885722Yep! I had gotten him long before they made him a generic king in TOW but I still wanted to paint him in his regular colors/his appearance in Total War. In hindsight I would've done more layering on the armor but I'm still happy with how he turned out early last year.
Would a modern lord of change clash with older chaos models?
>>95884361 (OP)>TQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91MbkQdBSYU
>>95885848Yes. But define "older". 5th ed? 2004?
>>95885879Sorry, I'm new to WHF.
Older as in whatever the current printed warriors of chaos minis for TOW are. 2003 according to the sprue.
>>95885848size would probably be the biggest issue, as the new GDs are just massive compared to older stuff
>>95885527I prefer left, it feels more natural to me. Right feels too saturated for a living creature or something
>>95885527I like left. Right looks like heโs been doing too much tren for too long and is about to have a heart attack.
>>95885891Well, that particular lord of change is about twice as big as the one from 6th, so it would be out of place. It certainly wouldn't fit on a 50x50mm base.
>>95885904nah, my state trooper is sweaty
>>95885920Yeah the size and level of detail are what worry me. The demons pdf says LoC can be 50mm - 100x150mm.
Do I need to be worried about that changing if demons get more support and mto in the future? Not sure I want to drop $120 on a massive GD model that will get a base size change.
>>95885743sweet, I ordered the SB wargor too. and have a centigor hero, centigor command, and doombull otw. We gonna eat good soon
>>95885848Let's just say that greater daemons went through puberty and grown up a little bit.
Here comparision of Bloodthirster models, super old from early 90's, old one from late 90's and new one from 2015 or so. Every other greater daemon went through simlar growth, lord of change included.
>>95885743I definitely want the standard bearer and have a hankering for those chieftans, but still not sure about the shaman.
Im thinking I might as well since i'm getting the other 2 and they're only an extra $30.
>>95886012only one you need. makes me laugh whenever I see it.
>>95885848probably not, the demons of tzeentch have always been very different from the lord of change in any case, but the plastic lore of change is closer to the exalted forge world version than the normal metal version, size wise.
>>95885979They really need to redo the blood thirster.
>>95886126GW has 2 plastic bloodthirster kits for a total of 4 builds, 2 resin bloodthirster kits, 2 versions of angron, if there's no bloodthirster amongst those that you like, then GW will never manage to make a bloodthirster to your liking no matter the amount of tries.
Both archon and mantic came out with their generic not!balrog demons in plastic, just use one of those, or the actual plastic balrog from GW, that was always a popular conversion.
>>95886126Anon current stock bloodthirster have 3 build options, you also have Skarbrand and Ka'bandha as named ones.
There also was Forge World Exalted Bloodthirster/An'ggrath but was axed alongside 90% of FW and there is always Angron who look like bloodthirster anyway.
And plastic bloodthirster is fine.
Yes yes Chinamen are good and all but where is Kislev?
>>95886343fucking their ice bears and hopefully dying of frost bite
>>95886343Probably not till next year unless GW has a large show coming up where we'll find out what's next for ToW since everything from the March show (aside from Cathay individual units) are out now. I don't think we'll legacy or new armies coming out with the only marketing being a Sunday preview and some almanacks.
How hard would sculpting long beards on the dwarf warriors be?
>just got my beastmen pre orders in
>doombull and centigors
>doombull in forgeworld resin c2025
>stamped on January 11th, 2025
Does that mean GW had 5 months to plan and still managed to gunk up the release schedule?
Also centigors no longer have the year printed on them I noticed.
>>95886343Hopefully never. The setting needs less humans.

>>95886395Wrong. The world needs Kislev.
According to the Cathay preorder article, the Lord on Dragon can be either a warrior or a wizard, will it be difficult to magnet his hips so you can swap between them, or based on other kits like this will it be a set and if you want the other you gotta buy a second one?
>>95886448I think it will just be a list-building option rather than the model itself which will have little impact
fleshy abundance on chaos warriors w/ mark of nurgle worth it?
T5, 4+ armor save w/shield, force re-roll 6s seems pretty tough.
Mostly playing against nuln empire. I don't want to be overkill, it's just a casual game.
>>95886395Just gimme a model of their sexy queen
>>95886448How can we possibly know that?

>>95886582Great, now you have time to paint some miniatures. You do own miniatures, right anon?
So looking at all armies that have gotten lists and rules over the years
1st Edition:
>Humans
Men of the East (Araby): 10 Units + 2 heroes
Men of the North (Norse): 4 Units + 2 heroes
Men of the Orient (Nippon): 5 units + 3 heroes
Men of the west (Empire): 8 units + 2 heroes
>Dwarfs
Dwarfs: 5 Units + 2 heroes
Gnomes: 4 units + 2 heroes
Halflings: 4 Units + 3 hero types (halfling heroes are odd)
>Elves
Dark Elves: 4 Units + 2 heroes
High Elves: 5 units + 2 heroes
Sea Elves: 3 units + 2 heroes
Wood Elves: 4 units + 2 heroes
>Giants
Giants: 3 Units
>Goblinoids
Great Goblins: 5 Units + 2-3 heroes
Night Goblins: 7 Units + 2 heroes
Red Goblins: 3 units + 2 heroes
Hobgoblins: 2 units + 2 heroes
Orcs: 7 units + 2 heroes
>Lizardmen
Lizardmen: 4 units + 1 hero
Slaan: 7 units + 2 heroes
>Chaos
Chaos: 14 units + 5 heroes
>Undead
Undead: 8 units + 3 heroes
There's also the book of battalions which gives premade armies for
Goblins, Halflings, Giants, Elves, Albion, Nippon, Dwarves, The Undead, Chaos, Hobgoblins and something that works as either a Lizardmen or Slaan army
>>95886494Chaos Warriors by default are a casual choice. Go for it and let us kniw how you do!
Building zombies, any ideas for increasing the whimsy level of the unit? I was thinking undead farm animals if I can find them on the bases or as fillers, an undead priest on on a horse as filler, some zombies in worse condition stapled together with boards like that one blanche art, ect
>>95886602they see some competitive use as tzeentch magic bunkers
>>95886602I thought they were one of the better infantry units. What would a non-casual choice be? All knights?
>>95886624100% all Knights and Chosen. That said, infantry are looking at a positumive buff so, look forward to that.
>>95886621100%. Hell they actually see competitive at all kver their chosen counterparts! By casual I mean, not a hyper optimal choice and they won't turn a game by themselves.
>>958865912nd Edition adds Skaven and otherwise fluffs out and adds stuff to Orcs & Goblins, Undead, Dark Elves, Chaos, Nippon, Norse, The Empire, Dwarfs and Elves
3rd Edition:
Adds Brettonia and builds out some other already mentioned armies
Has Fimir, Pygmy, Halfling, Zoat, Giant & Ogre, Half-orc, Hobgoblin, Nippon and Norse mercenaries
4th edition
Adds chaos dwarves
5th Edition:
Adds Dogs of War, Realm of chaos (deamons), Vampire Counts instead of just Undead
6th edition:
Tomb Kings and Beastmen mentioned (possibly not for the first time desu), Ogre kingdoms get a full book instead of just mercenaries
7th edition
Not much new i think?
>>95885384fantasy in general suffered from that with every faction having a "Big dude big man leader guy" who was just the best dude to ever be part of that faction ever, which is understandable for a miniatures game, but they could have at least gone with more tyrions where that guy was a hero of the faction rather than the head of state
>>95886395Kislev would be based, but unfortunately the TW designs suck ass almost as bad as the cathay ones, so hopefully they do not bother
>>95886741>every faction had big leader head of stateHow dare you insist khazrak even understood what a state is, besides state of constant anger at walls.
>>95886769The evil faction big guy should be the warlord biggest leader, but the civilized factions would seperate hero from king generally, praticularly the early modern ones like the empire
>>95886741hmmmm decided to go look and only 2 armies don't have 2 named characters (a hero and lord i assume?) Orcs and Goblins only have the Swampdigga, Tomb Kings have Apophas, Settra and Nekaph (the guy who reads settra's name)
>>95886696You're an idiot who's only ever read pdfs of old army books and never played the game.
Tomb Kings debuted as a White Dwarf list in 5th before the Vampire Counts book hit.
5th ed's Realm of Chaos debuted Warriors, Daemons and Beastmen as separate armies.
6th ed featured Kislev as an allied contingent, with a mini army book free with White Dwarf
>>95886604>I was thinking undead farm animals if I can find them on the bases or as fillers, an undead priest on on a horse as filler, some zombies in worse condition stapled together with boards like that one blanche artThat all sounds great.
One of them could be holding an entire arm that's still holding onto a weapon.
One could be carrying their gravestone, not sure why but just something to put out there.
The classic arrow or two+ through a body part, eye, head, torso, etc.
One dragging the upper torso of another, family member dragging along another.
Those are on the top of my head.
Chaos lord/sorcerer lord on foot w/ 10 chosen or chaos lord on manticore?
>>95884703There is artwork of a Shadow dancer with a forest spite in the background of the WEf Arcane Journal which along with the fact GW isn't selling the old shadow dancer might mean a new one is coming
>>95886847Lord on manticore. Take it from me, the chosen bunker is a meme and not even a particularly fun one.
>>95886847level 4 demonolgy sorcerer with 15-20 chosen of tzeentch is very fun, but stupid expensive and you just lose the game if it doesn't go well, however if it goes well, this unit will obliterate quite literally anything set before it
chaos lord on manticore is actually reasonably good and you'll be allowed to take it to casual games without losing friends unlike a dragon lord
>>95886857it's extremely fun if you're flying around with steed of shadows and you manage to cast demonic vessel
Unfortunately it's like double the price of just putting your guy on a dragon and not as good
>>95886802Tbh I'm still thinking it makes sense for most the non evil guys big honcho to be the top dog
>tomb kingsOnly ones left mentally for the most part after rising.
>bretonnia Being blessed by the lady and chosen requiring great martial prowess and expectations to be actively fighting evil is what their kings are supposed to do. Idealized chivalrous king after all.
>dwarfsBit more flexible here but usually clans are led by their thanes/kings when to war as they are the ones with the authority to keep everyone from grumbling off doing their own things. Ofc there are many expeditions and explorations assigned to others and room to showcase it. But to be confirmed king you gotta be the biggest and dorfest. No wimps.
>EmpireMore relaxed and often their big focus guy is not the Emperor, it just happened that Karl was a bad ass like magnus before him. As for TOW time, like many civil wars personality and charisma is a huge factor on why people side with you so being a general and ruler makes sense for each faction as why else would you bother holding the line vs general mcsexys troops aka your buddies while your guy counts coin? (Ofc there are solutions to that, just giving example)
>wood elvesOrion is their King but tbf Ariel rarely takes the field. Otherwise kindreds and kingdoms kind of do their own thing so only demi gods like Ariel and Orion can get the anarchistic tree huggers at times to cooperate. Otherwise they are going to need the trees and wide support to lead any war and in lore it only happens when athel loren is under attack.
>minor factionsKislev iirc Katerina is not a normal ice queen? The rest I don't know enough about.
>>95886459I hope so
>>95886531I mean you can't, but you could speculate based on experience with similar models if they exist
>>95886494You're on the right track but you don't need the mark of Nurgle on your warriors. Save the points, the mark of chaos undivided is significantly better and free, especially if you're going up against a nuln army. You will eventually have to take a panic test or two, so you may as well make use of the FPT re-roll that the mark of chaos undivided gives you. That being said, a sorcerer of nurgle is a great idea. Make him a daemonologist and, with a bit of luck, he'll be able to bring your warriors to T6, I6, and M5. I've been thinking about painting up a nurgle sorcerer myself recently. It's not a competitive option, by any means, but I think it'd be real fun for casual games.
>>95886876Sure it's fun, for a time, but it's not reliable. You're still constrained to a 10" charge range and 10 chosen aren't going to be able to survive getting shot at for long. Even with a level 4, you really can't expect to get Daemonic Vessel off when you need it, especially if your opponent's wizard is within dispel range. Remember, Vessel (and Vigour, which is really a crying shame, what's the point of a toughness buff if it doesn't last through your opponent's turn? At least Fleshy Abundance is a remains in play spell...) immediately after your turn does, so you'll need to cast it right before you issue a charge or during combat and it won't be active during your opponent's turns. Believe me, I tried to make it work. It just doesn't. Even when you put together a proper deathstar, 18 chosen warriors with a chaos lord w/ enchanting aura, bsb w/ war banner and a level 4 daemonologist, it just folds to a dragon immediately, assuming it doesn't just get shot off the board. As much as I wish it wasn't the case, the current state of the rules does not allow you to build a mighty regiment with the goal of taking down dragons or anything that's actually meta. It's just not going to work. Have fun with it, sure, but keep your expectations low.

I genuinely donโt care for Cathay. The troops look like shit, only redeeming part of the range are the horsemen. Everything else is somehow both too restrained and too over the top. The philosophy for them is in constant conflict. Disharmonious, one might say.

Is it just me or does slaanesh not fit with the traditional chaos warrior/raiders? Like khorne fits super well with the established chaos designs(pic related) and being a god of fighting and bloodshed is also fitting for what's basically vikings/conan barbarians.
Nurgle also looks good and the harsh conditions most chaos tribes live in also makes it believable that a tribe falls because of a pandemic etc.
Tzeentch is obviously the shamans/magic users/oracles of the tribes and mutants.
Slaanesh just doesn't make sense to me outside of rich merchants and nobles, they much better fit with elves and their entire perfectionist/stronger feelings aspect.
Hell even chaos ogres would fit more with their gluttony.

Holly: We wanted to make a conscious acknowledgement of the spiritual and the temporal realms. The people of Grand Cathay are much more aware of magic and its use in their everyday lives, which is reflected in the protective devices they wear. While their science and technology are thriving, they also have an Immortal Dragon Emperor and live among floating cities!
JTY: The Emperor and Empress are some of the most powerful sorcerers in the world โ more powerful than the surviving Slann. Magic flows through Grand Cathay. Mountains float there โ the world wasn't originally like that, itโs the result of the shattering of the Geomantic Web.
Owen: It was a deliberate consideration when we started: how do we make this realm human but different, so itโs not just the Empire in the East, with guns and cannons. They're more understanding and accepting of the spiritual world, and respectful of their Emperor.

>>95889628I think its because of the very concept of the immortal dragon overlords. Instead of dynamic rebellions and civil wars and such, Cathay is now fossilised since the Dragon primarchs never fight each other, so the only conflict is with Chaos.
If Cathay had an all-human government with human faults it would probably be better

are they more powerful than the slann because of their quasi-asleep state? are we counting the force multiplier that is the geomantic web, which is what actually gave the slann the edge to pull their most well known feats on the world and against demons? are we talking about the ability to manipulate stuff finely? and to truly understand, unravel and use to its full effect magic? because the slann brought magic and can use high magic, while the dragons have only copied it from afar and rely on a watered down version of high magic split into yin and yang rather than the real thing. or are we simply talking about the size of the fireball they can cast/dispel on the spot without preparation?

Empire:
general on warhorse
Engineer in war wagon
priest of ulric on warhorse
captain on foot
20 vet troops
30 missile troops with handguns
2 great cannons

1 hellstorm rocket
1 steam tank
Chaos:
chaos lord on manticore
2 exalted sorcerer of nurgle, level 2, daemonology
32 chaos warriors
5 chosen knight
10 chosen warriors with great weapons
1 gigantic spawn of chaos, nurgle
Are these two lists relatively even or is the chaos player getting stomped?
since Lizardmen are too unimportant to be a proper faction in TOW, how powerful can their wizards actually be?
>>95890278>>incapable of sealing two (2) gay magic gatesthat's the thing anon, the slann collapsed the gates on purpose, they're reptilian aliens pulling the strings of an experiment of cosmic proportions, dooming the world and all the lab rats they uplifted was part of the plan all along.
closing the gates would have represented a total failure for the experiment, while creating the vortex themselves was merely delaying a total failure. The fact one of the creations made the vortex was a sign the experiment had a sliver of chance of success.

Ironically End Times show how Slaan mind works quite well. >>95890656>Aren't most slaanesh giga nerfed by chaos invasion PTSD and Alzheimers? They've got 4 things going on:
-the world is much less magical than it was before the vortex, and the geomantic web is broken in a lot of places, and slann kind of need a lot of energy to function, so they often stay in energy saving mode, or direct magical energy to keep shit running rather than on being active
-they have no clear idea of what they can and should do, so they devote an awful lot of time and brainpower into calculating variables, contingencies and whether the wrong step on the path of a sand shark is going to irrevocably doom the plan
-with the great catastrophe tzeentch allegedly cast a curse on all the slann, giving them supernatural brain fog, which requires them to meditate a lot to navigate, mazdamundi was the first to break free from the torpor, and only shortly before the end times, aside from that other demons apparently try to ensnare the slann they find astral projecting around
-the slann may or may not have purposefully stunted their memories of certain events of the catastrophe, either because too traumatic or because the great plan requires them to be free from certain information or demonic cognito hazard (when you're fighting against self aware thoughts, not having certain thoughts can be a protection or a tool)

>>95892232"In Cathay, labour is bountiful and life is cheap, full of willing workers to help raise the nation into a new era. The bureaus ensure compliance."
I think this building description was there since release
>>95889805To be quite honest the way they advertised Cathay before TWW release made it look like a faction without flaws too.
It's only with the in game quotes it looks more grey (also the interview of Andy Hall when he mention how Emperor big plan may not be so wholesome for not dragons in the end).
I think it's kinda cool to have one faction unambigiously be top dog in the setting. Before every faction has had braggadocio but you couldn't really definitely say one was the *strongest*. Now it's like, Cathay IS the strongest, what is everyone else going to do about it?
>>95892515I said it in the most neutral way possible, I was trying to be legit helpful. No need to be so mad anon.
>>95892575Let them get rekt in a few centuries.

Ok so thinking of giving these the old alcohol bath, has anyone rescued plastic GW stuff before? Can they survive a 98% alcohol bath fine? Modern plastics are fine but not sure if these older plastics have some weird chemical binding agent or something
>>95891989> The Flayed Hauberk is a suit of heavy armour which may be worn by a Wizard without penalty. You're so dumb, I'm not sure if you've really been banned or if you've just forgotten how to use the internet.

>>95892839Oh wait no it says equivalent, so no, Necromancers can't take magical suits of armour, just magical barding, if it existed, and magical helmets, maybe, I believe some of you anons owe the original poster an apology
>>95892837The anon above has explained it for our convenience.
>>95892839>>95892913Thank you anon. Another instance of this is the Empire's Armour of Tarnus, which says "... can be worn by a wizard even if they don't have the option to equip armour ", implying that wizards in general need said option to use magic armour (which Necromancers lack). Weird how I get banned, called a smug faggot and dumb for blankly telling people what the correct rules of the game are.
>>95892949tbf it's a fucking stupid way to word that rule I can see why people got confused, additionally people ITT don't actually play the game so I'm not surprised people here got it wrong

You're still wrong about the haubrek as the rule calls out exceptions
"Such magical armors are crafted in such a way as to be exempt from this rule.
Fwiw in older editions it was always allowed as able but killed spellcasting unless it called it out, meaning old world has gone from a soft lock to a hard lock for most wizards. You're still wrong about the haubrek
>clockwork angels
What the fuck?
>>95893070Things got a little fuckey at the end of WHFB
>>95893083>get in ze Eva Hans-Jurgen, or Rey will have to do it again
>>95893062The hauberk does not call that rule out
>>95893070Does Warhammer Fantasy even have the mythological concept of Angels?
>>95893062I'm not him, where are you quoting that rule from
>>95893120Thatโs what morghasts were, I think.
>>95893070Look at the battle standard bearer, fantasy has clockwork cherubs
in the 7th ed rulebook you also see a procession of the college of engineers and they have parade chariots with mechanical beasts and crazy fuckers flying around attached to angels-shaped gliders, think birdmen of catrazza
>>95893115May be worn by a wizard without penalty
May be worn
By a wizard
>>95893231That means that it may be worn by a wizard that may already take mundane armour (Vampires) and still be able to cast, reading the rules literally as some kind of gotcha is really dumb
>>95893121The rule book you fucking secondary
Now retard anon is tripped up by the fact it's heavy armor class. That's for the sake of save. Any armor is magical armor. Same way brayshamans can now take chaos plate (which the rule makes clearer) but the key is the rule on the armor stating "may be worm by a wizard"
It's not super clear but given the offical app even allows it and tournaments om guessing 1- VC anon is a turbo autist 2- as a legacy army the writers don't really give a fuck and 3- it was probably intended for only Vampires (who iirc used to have some leway with armor and casting) but given VC are mid and necromancers hardly a combat beast the rules as written were given a greenlight.
>>95893231yes, it could be worn by a nercomancer, but it can not be bought by a necromancer
>>95893263And losing in both reddit and 4chan proves you're beyond retarded and hopeless. You can flip the table when your opponents bring haubrek necros (dunno why anyone would tho) but you'll be the only asshole and in the wrong anon.
>>95893297Ok I agree, if a Necromancer could be upgraded with the flayed hauberk then it'd still be able to cast, but since it can't be upgraded with a mundane suit of armour it can't be upgraded with the flayed hauberk in the first place
>>95893316It's not a mundane suit retard. It's a magical suit of armor that counts as heavy. Wizards can't purchase normal heavy armor or most magical armor. This is a magical armor that is allowed. Why is this so difficult for you?
>>95893322>Core rulebook, pg.340: Only a model that is already equipped with (or that has the option to be equipped with) armour, a shield or barding may purchase a magical equivalent.A Necromancer cannot be equipped a mundane suit of armour, thus cannot take a magical equivalent unless stated otherwise, like the armour of tarnus, the flayed hauberk does not state otherwise, thus Necromancers cannot take the flayed hauberk
I don't know what is being discussed at this point but here is a Skaven suit of magic armor that specifically says they can wear it even though they can't normally wear armor
>>95893341*unless the specific magical equivalent states otherwise
It really couldn't be clearer at this point, I suspect you're just sperging out to try and save face rather than admit you're wrong, you'll probably claim "to have just been trolling" soon
>>95893341It states may be worn by a wizard without penalty
Look anon, I think RAI it probbaly was not meant for necromancers but it's pretty clear RAW it's allowed. Again if events and the offical app allow it, the writing allows it, and desu there's no good reason to give a necro it since they suck in combat I'm concluding you're sperging out and need to chill.
>>95893355it literally could be clearer, look at the post above yours for an example of a magical item that works how you think the hauberk does
>>95893367RAW it is not allowed and you would legit fail a highschool reading test
>>95893376We at the trolling stage of cope now.
Don't equip your necros with it (not that you should) and know if someone else does, you're tantrum is your fault and no one elses
>>95893367>It states may be worn by a wizard without penaltyMeans that a model wearing it may still cast and dispel without penalty, if it meant that a model may equip it without normally being able to equip a magical suit of armour then it would say that like it does on the armour of tarnus or the warpstone armour
>>95893231You are actually like obscenely stupid.
>>95893231So what? Just admit you're wrong dumbass

You are a miserable retard. People are going to take it and until GW feels like making a FAQ on the subject, RAW it's allowed. It's both in the offical app and events that use said app. Cope, seethe, dilate but it doesn't change you're retarded no matter how furiously you samefag insult me.

>>95893385People with Trait A can not wear special clothes or mundane clothes.
To enter the clothes store where all clothes of a specfic type are sold, you must have a corresponding membership card.
Some clothes in the clothes store specifically can be worn even by people with Trait A.
However, if you are Trait A and do not have a membership, you still can not wear it, because you are not allowed to enter the store.

>>95893554I'm not even that anon, I wish I could see the thread too to see if the redditors gave the same shit arguments as you
>>95893567>Only after you draw the gold ball can you say youโre now 66% likely to be in the first box.The prompt tells you that you take a gold ball, so you ignore the idea that you could've picked the right most box at all, google the Monty Hall problem, it's the same concept I think

>>95893536>You had a 66% chance of picking the leftmost box in the first place, so it's 66%You had a 66% chance of picking a box with a gold ball in the first place. But that's not relevant to part 2, since the scenario clarifies you've already picked a box with at least one gold ball. Therefore it is like
>>95893499 said. 50-50.
If the scenario was asking BEFORE you picked up the first ball what you said would be impactful. But it isn't.
>>95893598You are the retard, sorry
>>95893585Itโs quite clear. You call others ESL when it says right there you choose a box at random. That locks in the probability of choosing the first box at 33% until you draw a gold ball and then reasses.
I still donโt see how itโs a 50-50.

>>95890228They didn't. It was Old Ones.
>
Under the Old Ones' influence, the world was irrevocably changed. The planet was moved closer to the sun, its orbit altered and its axis shifted to make the climate warmer and more habitable. Plants and life forms of infinite variety were introduced. The single mega-continent was split apart under the Old Ones' will, and the shifting plates came to rest in a manner more compliant with their design.
Lizardmen 6th edition, page 4.
>The Old Ones looked upon the world and saw its unique, boundless potential. They decreed that this world would have a central place in their unknowable plans. But, before those plans could be set into motion, they determined to alter the orbit and so warm the atmosphere. In time, the ice sheets retreated, verdant forests soon spreading to cover the newly revealed land.>The next stage of the Old Ones' plan was the realignment of the tectonic plates. From the single mega-continent revealed by the retreat of the ice sheets, the Old Ones set into motion a plan that would see the formation of entirely new lands and seas, making the world conform to an established pattern compatible with their ends. This realignment would take many millennia, none other than the Old Ones knowing its final form or purpose.Lizardmen 7th edition, page 6.
>>95895335>Then came the Old Ones, a mysterious and near-omnipotent race who plied the depths of space in silvered ships and star-spheres just as men would one day ply the oceans. They looked the world from above, and they found it to be good. By their reckoning, this world would play an important part in the destiny of the universe. So it was that they took to steering the planet's path toward the warming light of the sun, and reshaped the continents of the world, fashioning them in accordance with ancient prophecies and patterns. The Old Ones also created portals that allowed them to travel vast distances and move at will from this realm to the next.>They knew not that, with these acts, they were cultivating their own demise.Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th edition Rulebook, page 158.
