Your second point is equally as ridiculous, the inevitiability of combat is why builds with low 1 on 1 combat power are less likely to survive, your arguing against hard checks or CC stuff like illusion, psychic, death or dark being as useful because peer combat is all but inevitable by your own argument (I'm not saying it is). Someone who's tanky and fast is much, much more likely to survive peer level combat than a summoner and debuffer like Death or Pact, or a jack of all trades like tech.
It should also be noted that 'hide chads' as you call them will always be weaker than an equivalent aged luminary of the same talent, because, big suprise here, the combat mages thrive on combat.
