TQ: What's your most hated type of deck?
>>95888616 (OP)>TQanything that beats me and my "just a little guy" decks (cascade, nekusar) before I pop off
>>95888616 (OP)>What's your most hated type of deck?Theft. I donโt like it. I brought my cards for me to play, not for you to play. If you want to play other peopleโs decks, play clones.
>>95888622>Whenever is the design slop word youre looking formh, maybe
I was just wondering where to start looking, because I've played decks with +1 counter mechanics before, but they usually weren't the focus.
>>95888629I play red theft in sac decks as removal, it just feels so right.
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
Will there be Commander 2025 decks and if so will one inevitably be radically overtuned?
>>95888655there already are commander decks in 2025
>>95888650I donโt mind the theft mechanic when used sparingly. I have Twisted Fealty and Claim the Firstborn and am looking for a thematic deck to play them in. But I fucking hate decks that are nothing but โIโm gonna search through YOUR deck and hand!โ
Not to mention theft is objectively the best type of removal in the game. Non destructive, no death triggers, plus pure advantage for the thief. Literally the only downside is mana cost, and thatโs not much of a hurdle
>>95888648>I was just wondering where to start lookinghttps://edhrec.com/tags/plus-1-plus-1-counters
>>95888629I don't play theft because I want to play your cards, I play it because I want to hastily scoop them up with mine when I go home at the end of the night.
>>95888693I donโt own a single card worth more than $15 as far as Iโm aware.
No, I tell a lie. I have an Enchanting Tales Rhystic Study. But I donโt play anything more valuable than that because itโs usually not the power level I enjoy
>>95888689that's just FIRE popular slop
>>95888719And? The request was:
>what's the most basic +1 counter commander?
>>95888725yeah, those are not basic
>>95888616 (OP)>TQ>I'm playing [literally any izzet commander]!Cool. Guess I just have to rush you until you're dead or you kill me since you can combo or storm off and kill the whole table at the drop of a hat and I know for a fact your deck has the capably of doing it.
>m-mine is different I'm playing a super special izzet commander that doesn-Nope yours too.
>>95888740What is more basic than literally the most played commanders in the theme you chose??
>>95888751What if I played izzet enchantress?
>>95888752popular =/= basic
perfect example on this list is mothman. way to complex, have to constantly remind people to mill, check what they mill and track the rad counters. that's not a basic +1 commander.
>>95888763If you want basic, then go with Maester Seymour or Tromell from the new FFX precon. Mono-Green, enable +1/+1 counter strats in the command zone and have their own in-built payoffs.
>>95888740Skullbriar is basic as fuck, man.
>but he violates one of the basic preconceptions of the game!Cool thank god he does it in a way that's completely intuitive and confuses nobody.
>>95888956instead of counters he should just persistently get stronger in all zones FACT
>>95888616 (OP)>TQGroup hug decks. I fucking hate the faggots playing them with their "oh I'm just helping everyone teehee!" mentality and meanwhile the insanely greedy combo deck immediately to their left is guaranteed to win the game because the idiot group hug player played an oath of druids and gave them a free nyxbloom ancient.
What are you favorite alt win cons?
>>95888751Yeah it's just what that color combination always does. Anything with prowess is also in a similar vein that if you give them even a single turn things can just be over and it all feels the same.
>>95888629understood, i'll bring a chaos deck so you are forced to play with other people's cards instead
>TQ
Most Jeskai or anything with Izzet really.
Worst offende is Nu-Narset, the FIRE one. this shit puts Simics value engine to shame and makes the most insufferable boardstates and trigger fests. its Cathar's crusade in the command zone, this shit should have been reserved for a digital only
>>95888956>>but he violates one of the basic preconceptions of the game!fucking hate that these stupid fucks at WotC constantly have to meddle with the rules of the game and the command zone to the point where picrel doesnt work with exile effects anymore
i still play it how it used to regardless, its not like it makes her super busted, fuck the WotC
>>95889072>heh *I* forced the game to end that means it's MY winnope.
>>95889151>>95889172>To achieve success in an effort or venture.Dictionary says it's a win :)
>>95889150>>95889151>>95889172I consider it a win when played from a bad position/behind in board state/stopping another player from winning.
If I'm ahead I'l try to play this instead.
>>95889185>>95889236I KNEW tie fags think they are actually winning when forcing a draw. one guy irl even slipped the words "I win" in a conversation once when talking about divine intervention but everyone played it off as a joke
disgustingly disingenuous behaviour. trying to make others look like the crazy ones by lying to their face. I bet there is a word for people like you
yes, I'm mad
Wanting to consume and buy the FF commander decks, but scalping fucks have got them all...this sucks man I'm not buying this shit for like $100 extra per deck
>>95889429isn't building the decks from 0 actually cheaper at this point since the singles are almost all worthless
>>95889424Genuine schizofag behavior. Relax sweatlord.
>>95888751i'll take a quick loss over dealing with all the esper shit thanks to y'shtola
>>95888751Sometimes I feel bad for bullying Izzet players, but unfortunately I don't know the combos well, so I'd rather kneecap and take them out instead of taking 49 to the face out of nowhere
>>95888616 (OP)Storm, I hate long turns where nothing happens.
>>95888751I'm playing Yusri goblins (with no coin flip support) because he refills my hand.
>>95888751based
our local izzetfag was jerking himself off on like turn 5 so I slapped him in the cock with three 10/10 karnstructs this last weekend
>>95888616 (OP)>tqStax because it doesn't win it just dies slowly
>>95888616 (OP)>TQTheft sucks, it's not even a good archetype. So if anyone is playing theft you know they're literally just doing it to piss everyone off
>>95889440that's the one I was looking for
>>95888616 (OP)Mill sucks, it's not even a good archetype. So if anyone is playing mill you know they're literally just doing it to piss everyone off
>TQ
Discard sucks, it's not even a good archetype. So if anyone is playing discard you know they're literally just doing it to piss everyone off
Zidane is the main character and is only uncommon.
Vivi is a popular side character and is a mythic
This just feels wrong, I get that Vivi is popular but this is a weird way to do this.
As much as I love this set they really crammed everything in here, they should have given us a full block of final fantasy
>>95889563>As much as I love this set they really crammed everything in here, they should have just turned the full game in to final fantasyftfy
>>95888616 (OP)>TQEldrazi, they were design mistakes as Annihilator is not fun to play against, especially when you fucking double it due to Echoes of Eternity, Iโd rather deal with fucking Slivers.
>>95889580there is a final fantasy card game already...
>>95889580I mean, sure, it would be better than the hat sets we get
>>95889562My favorite politics card
>>95889669You're only saying that because you like Final Fantasy and would likely disagree if it was a property you did not like or care for.
>>95889682Yeah, that is true.
>>95889682That's true, thankfully it's one of the most popular game series of all time with some of the most variety in terms of things to pull from. Should have been a full block.
>>95888616 (OP)poison since they just sit behind propaganda effects and proliferate their way to a win
>D&D 5.5 is a massive flop
>Critical Role is making their own D&D competitor
>Hasbro is going to force Magic to become even more sloppified to fill the gap
what will the UBfags' breaking point be, I wonder
>>95889793Magic is already dead, we're just enjoying the decline
>>95888616 (OP)>What's your most hated type of deck?In terms of me not having fun: Discard stax decks
In terms of hating it because of players and gaslighting: Green decks
>"I need ramp and manadorks because my creature costs so much">proceeds to cheat in all their stuff and get ungodly amount of mana and counters from creatures because a creature with 4/4 power and toughness is apparently hard to put on and keep on the field>"You can't destroy lands that not fun for anyone!!">proceeds to destroy all our artifacts and enchantments>"Green only focuses on creatures so you guys have all the benefit of carddraw, tutor and alternative ways to win">proceeds to do the thing other colors do but better like lifegain, carddraw, tutoring, graveyard because they have a creature on the battlefield they cheated in with more than 4/4 power and toughness and put out a single creature/enchantment that wins them the game
>>95889793Anon, D&D already never made any money to begin with. Hasbro gets by on Magic and Monopoly Go.
>>95888751Erm, excuse me Mr. Goblin #NotAllIzzetPlayers.
Combo and Storm are for fags, we are punching each other in the face the way Garfield intended.
>>95889888Based
No matter what color combo I play, I'm playing aggro. Wether wide or tall, I will always win through combat damage and lots of creatures
>>95888751This but for every spellslinger deck. Temur can be the same.
>>95889682yes, that's literally how this works
anyone else's taste < my tastes
cry about it
>1 opp plays smothering tithe, next opp plays force fruition
That's a scoop
>>958898604e and 5 were massively profitable.
>>95888751I just play a lot of rocks(and sigil of sleep)
>>95889682So how long are you guys gonna keep crying about UB? Until the game dies in 10-15 years? Seems like a retarded waste of time to me.
>>95890035For the rest of his life.
He already does it every thread
>>95890042It's genuinely pathetic.
>NO YOU GUYS DON'T UNDERSTAND I HAVE TO SEETHE AND DILATE EVERY DAY THAT THIS CORPORATION IS TRYING TO EXPAND ITS MARKET APPEAL AND THEY DON'T EXCLUSIVELY MAKE FANTASYSHIT STORIES WITH THEIR GENERIC AND UNINTERESTING IN HOUSE IPS THAT HAVE TOTALLY FAILED TO FIND POP CULTURE APPEAL AFTER 30 YEARS THIS IS IMPORTANT THIS IS WHAT I NEED TO BE WASTING MY LIFE WORRYING ABOUT AAAAAAAA SAVE ME AJANI AAAAAAA SAVE ME LOOT
>>95889822As the resident gruul/temur/jund player at my table, you're 100% right to punch green decks in the teeth. Bolt the bird.
Though to be honest it sounds like you have more gripes with small little bean players that whine and complain every time you rightfully shoot them in the dick, and act all smug like they're devious masterminds when they inevitably win when you leave them alone. Like no-one saw it coming from half a mile away.
>>95890104>Pop culture appeal is important>Magic is funkopop tier and that's a good thing
I snagged my boy at locals last night, what's some cool ways to build Clive
>>95888693Post the right card dipshit larping zoomie nigger
>>95890138>being popular is importantYes
>>95888763>remind peolle to millNo you dont. They remember or they are cheating.
>track radSee above
>track what they millTangentially.
You sound retarded maybe stop being a lazy piece of shit and find the most basic commander yourself
>>95890104Yeah I don't get it either. Especially with the constant strawManning and ad hom. It's not enough to just say that he doesn't like UB, instead he personally attacks everyone here as though that's going to make a difference.
I truly hope he gets some mental health counseling before the end of the year, especially seeing as how we have a lot more UB to go with marvel and avatar on the horizon
>>95890187lol High school tier, sometimes it's better when something isn't popular then it doesn't get turned into funkopops.
>>95890190>nogames: the postpityful that retards like you are still allowed to waste my precious air
>>95889424>force a certain game state>a gamestate that you and only you planned for and want to happen>this isn't a win>Noooo nooooo it says a draw!!!! Ignore the fact I was trying to actually win and i couldn't stop this it says a draw!!!!!!!WAAC fags need to be stopped.
>>95890035You have people on /tg/ getting into semi-regular shitfits over primaris marines.
>>95890035>>95890104As long as they are printing UW I will rightfully shit on and refuse to play UB and there is nothing wrong with that. You try this every thread and its really sad because it never becomes true.
>>95890210>knowing the rules of the game is nogamesI just dont play with cheaters anon. I dont track anything my friends have to track because they understand the rules as well.
And you're the one crying that they cant find the "most basic +1/+1 counter legendary" i can think of 10 off the top of my head dipshit
>>95890203>high school tierSays the neckbeard crying that some corporation is putting images on cards he doesn't like
>>95890203>dude this product designed to make money shouldnt be popularAnd that's how things die, dumbass
>>95890237>no u>in a way that makes literally 0 senseAre adults not allowed to care about the things they engage with? What an absurd rebuttal lmao. It is high school to think popularity is good and necessary, it is simply human, to care about your interests.
Why does mill make people seethe so fucking much
>>95890213But a draw isnt a win anon.
>>95890246>having a larger playerbase than ever is how things die
>>95890246There are plenty of products companies etc that make money without engaging in this type of behaviour zoomzoom. There are insular hobbies that exist, niche ones etc. That have pretty much reached their market cap and accept it and do not harm the image of their product in order to appeal to kids still in diapers
>>95890261>>95890246Look the retards don't even understand they are on the same side HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>95890252Dude you're crying over images and names in a nerd card game. The sheer lack of self awareness to refer to yourself as an adult lmao you have the maturity of a literal 12 year old
>>95890269Nope? My posts are pretty calm and rational. Not helping your image here bud. Go ahead and post your ID cause I want to make sure I'm not abusing a literal child right now
>>95890281Being over the age of 18 and caring about inages on cards for a corporate nerd card game is the absolute opposite of rational anon. Genuinely embarrassing behavior.
>>95890236>I just dont play with cheaters anonno, you don't play with people at all, or you would understand how often one has to remind people of triggers and mechanics in a game of edh. you are a nogames retard who pretends he isn't playing a casual game with other casuals.
>>95890296Im afraid caring about your hobbies and their health is never an immature thing to do. Only an undeveloped mind could even come to such an asinine conclusion. Feel free to explain with your big boy words, how it is irrational to care about the health of your hobbies.
>>95888616 (OP)>The cooler Green 6 mana beater
>>95890307Im afraid I dont play with toddlers who need training wheels anon. I remember my triggers, my friends remember theirs. Sadly for you i play twice a week. Maybe you and your friends should stop smoking so much pot you can't even play properly.
>been out of the EDH loop for a bit
>just find out there's a tier list with 5 tiers
>"My decks are pretty strong. They're not the best in the world, but I'm betting they're solid 3's."
>they're all tier 1
>After calling them just to make sure, WotC told me they're considering making a tier 0 just for me
>>95890157He's not really intended to be a build-around, considering his only real effect is to refill your hand. Great in the 99 of any monored and almost any half-red deck, but not really a legendary creature belonging in the command zone.
Still, if you insist, the only mechanic he checks is devotion. The only other payoff for that that comes to mind is Fanatic of Mogis. Go ahead and slam red pips left and right, Defiler of Instinct to make your red pips phyrexian, big ultra-red enchantments like City on Fire and Fiery Emancipation, maybe even Triple Triad for the memes.
>>95890325Something like omega burn 1 shot sounded like it might be fun and thematic
I think I saw some lists going full enchantress
There's quite I few commanders I wanna build around but Clive is one of the important ones to me
>>95889138i get it anon. I have a deck with her at the helm with yoshimaru. I always play it as written now, but it pains me.
>>95890311Because there's other actual important shit to lose your mind over and focus your mental energies on, you literal manchild? You're literally crying over a corporate entertainment product that did something 90% of the playerbase either supports or at least doesn't care about, mostly because they understand it's a corporate nerd card game. There's race and class riots happening all over the 1st world deciding the fate of the future, major wars happening at this very moment that might spiral into an actual 3rd world, the worst wealth gap we've ever had in the entirety of human history, potentially catastrophic climate change and mass migrations and economic depressions such changes have brought, endemic pollution that might be causing irreparable harm to the species, etc etc etc.
And you're on here shitting up the thread every single day crying because of pic related exists. You obviously have nothing else going on in your life or an actual neckbeard manchild with no perspective to care so much about the images in a corporate nerd card game.
>>95889563As an IXfag I have to agree. Also Alexander deserved better.
>>95890377We dont have numbers on UB support, so 90% is not something you can say. Appealing to fantasy is not rational anon you are off to a terrible start.
>you cant care about your hobbies cause uh..... people are being deported :((((((Not sure if this is a joke or not but this might be the dumbest thing I've ever read
>have a bad day>enlightened zoomer on 4chan says haha people are like dying or getting kicked out of countries you can think about your bad day!!!Entirely irrational denial of self because worse pain exists is incredibly stupid, you'll need to keep trying.
>baseless ad homLol
You thoroughly failed to rationally explain why I cant care about the things I'm interested in. And you went so far to as completely deny yourself in the process, because after all, great things are happening in the world how can you justify caring about anything? Hell how can you justify arguing IN FAVOR of UB when people are literally dying and the world's about the end anon. You played yourself hard here.
>>95890319sadly for you, your made up stories will never come true. maybe you should try playing with other people for once and find out why you are unwanted in this world.
>>95890411What bizarre projection.
Making a deck for Gabranth. I'm keeping it at Bracket 3, but with an interactive and competitive attitude. Am I setting mana-curve correctly?
https://moxfield.com/decks/bdHvVa8oskKqNaoQj-B6Aw
>>95890402>Also Alexander deserved better.i found my people. legit my favorite summon/entity in all of FF.
Give me the 9, or 14 version of it. I know 14 got plenty, but i fucking love the voltron Alexander.
>>95890408You're a genuine midwit. That's all I have to say, my point was thoroughly made but you're too dumb/petulant to acknowledge it. I won, you lost - literally, since UB is so popular the company itself is now going to ensure 50% of the product consists of it going forward (as they rightly should since UB has also been the best selling sets in the game's entire history. Good job defending your hobby!)
Feel free to give me further (You)s, I will feel free to laugh at you filling up each thread with more and more seethe about UB.
>>95890480Alexander Savage was such a good fight
>>95890500>this feminized irrational whingefestSlow down anon you have some potential world wars to worry about why are you investing so much time into a card game and the pictures within?
>>95889563The rarity distribution and choices are a mess for this set.
>>95890402>>95890480IX deserved better in general.
>>95890505>Risewithme>Risewithme>risewithme>RISE UP>>958905489, 11, basically any game that didnt get a cmdr deck in addition to the majority of the cards in the set....
>>95889793>Critical Role is making their own D&D competitorIs that really happening? I wondered how long it would take before they tried to go fully on their own. Though I thought they'd have done it years ago when they were they felt a lot bigger and the excitement around the game felt stronger.
why is there so many precons and why are they so popular
every fucking player is asking "how do i upgrade my *insert precon name*?" like i fucking know what the decks are called? what the fuck is a painbow? just name the freaking commander
half the top edhrec commanders are from precons
just brew your own deck that's half of the whole game
>IX, XI deserved better
I sleep
>VIII, XII deserved better
real shit
>>95890560>we're playing precons only wanna join in!No! Precons aren't even magic i don't care if you swapped out ten cards make your own deck
>>95890571like i said, every fucking game that didn't get stuff.
I love 12, just as much as 11.
>no occuria>no vayne flipping into the undying>gabranth kinda being a mid uncommon
>>95890548I'm playing it again rn, such kino...
If my opponent casts a Deadeye and I cast Galadriel's Dismissal on him with the soulbound trigger on the stack, are they still soulbound when they phase back in?
God Emet Selchs effect is kino
>>95890590Based. I'm planning to play it again after I'm done my replay of VI
>>95890613Yeah I know man like who would have guessed?
>>95890625It's the requirement to become hades which makes it truly kino
They knocked it out of the park with the flavor on some of these effects
>>95890702Having double threshold? How new are you?
>>95890711you show your idiocy so blatantly.
>>95890702Yeah, they really did. Assembling the convocation is perfect.
>>95890553>>95890480>>95890540>>95889563There really was a huge bias in favor of XIV for this set
>>95890729its what happens when its an active long running MMO with a huge playerbase.
its just business unfortunately
I truly hate mmos with a burning crimson passion
>>95889072I play a lot of stax/pillowfort. My win condition is "not being allowed to use that deck anymore".
>>95890716Oh is this a muh flavor argument? Ok then, that's fair. I don't play shit vidya so I wouldn't know.
>>95890557Making a new game doesn't happen overnight
>>95890729>huge bias in favor of XIV for this set>not a single playable female au/ra>only one playable female vieraIdk they could have pandered harder.
>>95888616 (OP)TQ: any megathreat commander that demands immediate removal like ureni. always piloted by babies who throw tantrums when you lock them down. had one say I was โtargetingโ him cause I countered his โhit the board to win the game instantlyโ commander and hit him for 2 entire damage to draw cards with my commander. then he wasted his whole hand removing my board and we both lost. This game has the worst case of bitchniggeritis I swear. Iโm one autistic screaming fit away from never playing with randoms again.
>>95890716Even just some of the regular equipment is great
>>95890213>WAAC fags need to be stopped.exactly, people who try to bend the rules to their win are the worst kind in this community
>>95890765>Didn't even get 1 card of my wifeShit collab
>>95890752i shouldn't have been so harsh, but yeah its a direct reference to the game in both his motivations, and even how his boss fight plays out.
>>95890778Got a cameo at least
>mpc didn't save my project
Well fuck me then
>>95890702Context? I never played the game that he is from.
Did he kill a bunch of people?
>>95890729Yeah this is actually my biggest problem with the set
>>95888751I'll take that 1v3 smiling as I drop the fourth asymmetrical boardwipe that game, ensuring nobody else gets to have a board as I remind you that this is strictly your fault for being dogshit at the game and not knowing how to evaluate resources.
Combo-fearing peons need to know their rightful place, bound to the earth fleeing from the approaching storm, shackled by their own incompetence.
>>95890887>TLDRin 14, there used to be a race of ancient immortal proto-beings (hence why Emet has the "elder" typing). They had a governing body called "The convocation of 14"
They caused their own downfall. To prevent total collapse, one of these ancient beings, Venat, cleaved the world into 14 smaller mini-worlds. This also cleaved those ancient beings, into weaker mortal beings (the player characters and ingame NPCs).
Emet was one of the few who avoided this. Him and a few of the remaining elder beings, who opposed Venat, are trying to mash the 14 mini-worlds back together. So that the mortal beings, can be mashed back into their proto-selves.
His boss battle has him invoking the convocation of 14, so that they can give him the strength to defeat you, the player character, because he just wants to revive his old friends back, and you the player character are like "lol no".
>>95890975Is he a sympathetic and nuanced character or is he just a big jerk
>>95890887He was trying to sacrifice the world (Ezorea) in order to revive his ancient multi-dimensional race. When he's defeated, he says "Well, we truly were a Final Fantasy 14 after all...".
>>95890986he's very sympathetic and nuanced, but also a funny asshole. In-game he has lived multiple lives in the guise of others, and def has the issue of immortality aka, the people i love grow old and die.
You come home and your gf tells you that she has a surprise for you. She found your commander decks and saw that all the cards were mixed up. She took all cards from all your decks and sorted them neatly into five piles. One for each color. She is very proud of her hard work.
Your reaction?
>>95891009damn i have a gf??
>>95891009Why is there a woman in my house? I only have sex with male dragons just as autistic as me.
>>95891009I kiss her and then fuck her and ask her not to do it again
Then I use the opportunity to revisit which decks I wanted to keep and wanted to get rid of and reassemble those from the midfield lists that I autistically keep
>>95891009>five piles>no colorless pile>no multi colored pileDumb bitch
>>95891009Piss and shit and scream probably.

There's a borderline special needs guy at our store. Builds decks stuffed to the gills with expensive cards but has no real idea how to pilot his brews or assess threats.
He also spergs if you interact with him. Downright mutters angrily to himself for the rest of the game. I've seen him rage scoop to a Bojuka Bog.
But nothing gets him angrier than if you steal his cards. Anytime I get into a pod with him, I know not to interact until I need him out of the game. Then if I end up in a pod with him, if I have a commanding position and the game becomes a 3v1, I use a single theft effect and he immediately forfeits. Thus turning it into a 2v1 that I'm almost certain to win.

Of course they could have did populate or something instead but it was important for them to have the tyranid creature type. Yeah i choose creature type 'Time'
>>95892606>The copies are created and cast during the resolution of Mizzix's Mastery. You can't wait to cast them later in the turn. Timing restrictions based on the copy's type are ignored. Other restrictions (such as "Cast [this spell] only during combat") are not.on resolution the copies are all put on the stack (from exile). you can't make them later, you don't line up your exiled cards and pick and choose one at a time. they all go in the stack. you can cast instants and activate abilities as they resolve as priority is passed around, and triggers are put on the stack as normal, but the casting of the copies happens as part of the effect of -and thus during the resolution of- mizzix's mastery.
similarly, if someone spends life to cast gut shot or something, you can't flash in -is boromir the only effect that does this? I swear there was another one- boromir onto the battlefield and still have him counter it, because the spell was already cast.
I wish this card wasn't banned in commander or at the very least, I hope wizards prints a new card not as busted but similar effect.
>>95891382>>95891161give me a control stealing blue commander decklist right NOW
>>95892635Technically, you create the copies regardless. It's just that they're in exile, and which makes them uncastable (outside of effects that state otherwise, like Mizzix's Mastery), AND makes them vanish into the aether as a state-based action (so even a separate effect that lets you cast stuff from exile wouldn't let you cast them, because they'd disappear before you got priority). This could theoretically come up if there was an effect that cared about cards entering exile, for example.

Ghyrson - damage
Haruspex - mana, stomp

Cut the 5 worst spells in the deck for these and you significantly reduce the frequency of mulligans/mana screw and you probably still flood out less.

Nice casual deck for commander tomorrow
>>95893583i wish that one grixis sweatlord in our playgroup would lean more into chaotic fun of Parnesse, instead of just going full Value with picrel
I always like these very wacky decks and naturally Chaos would be right up my alley but from what I read it is quite despised. And for me it does not make sense to play these type of decks if it's not fun. So are there any wacky decks of chaotic nature that are actually fun for the party involved? Or just not disliked.
>>95894310Very cool, swordtard.
>>95894338Look man, people just dislike strategies that prevent others from being able to play the game.
>mill>theft>chaos>staxAlthough stax is becoming more tolerated if you avoid fucking with lands untapping.
People put a lot of time into building their decks, they only have a limited amount of time each week to play, and when they sit down they want to see their deck do the things it was designed to do. No one wants to sit down with the guy who says "actually none of you get to play your cards as intended, instead we shall be playing MY game! >:3"
Its unbelievably gay.
>inb4 but what about removal??????? that stops others playing the game!!!!Removal is a mechanic in literally all decks. If you choose to play mill, or theft, or chaos, it's a pretty good bet that nobody else even has a single fucking card of that type in their decks, let alone having built a whole deck around it.

>>95894338>So are there any wacky decks of chaotic nature that are actually fun for the party involved?Play chaos with your own deck instead of others. Cascade, discover, and playing things off the top.
>>95894124>>95894224It's not psycho or evil, it's just math you fucking troglodytes. I understand it might not be applicaple to your games where you're poorly shuffling and your group lets you mulligan six times, but 41-43 is the correct number for battlecruiser decks.
Duel commander lists typically run 38-41 lands not counting outliers like Rog or Azusa, these are highly interactive, low to the ground, legacy style decks packed with cheap interaction and often running cantrips. These are decks that can happily keep a 2 land opener and win games without ever hitting a third. This is also a 1v1 format where the risk of flood and screw need to be weighed against each other equally. If this describes your list then 38 lands is the correct number to be running.
If your commander costs 5+ mana, your average CMC is 3+, and you're playing casual games that go past turn 8, you should be running 43. And that's just assuming you weigh flood/screw equally, the reality is that flood is hardly a thing in casual commander where you're able to recast your value generating commander and your deck has a bunch of 5+ cmc cards. And even still, the player that "floods" can still potentially cast a topdeck Tooth and Nail or an Expropriate or something and come back from it, but missing your third or fourth land often means you're just out of the running for what might be an hour+ long game.
I don't even understand the aversion to running at least 40 when there are so many insane utility lands these days. MDFCs, Channel Lands, Landcyclers, Talon Gates, Urza's Saga, Horizon of Progress, Field of the Dead, Expedition map, and a whole bunch of nuts color specific ones. There are people who will tell you with a straight face they can't run Lorien Revealed over some shitty card in their deck because they'll "flood out bro,"

Quick question, I don't know how to search this, but if I have a commander that transforms like Zenos. If I transform it and it then dies, can it only return to the command zone as Zenos or can I return it there as Shinryu? I'm pretty sure it only returns as Zenos but I wasn't sure.
>>95894489>If I transform it and it then dies, can it only return to the command zone as Zenos or can I return it there as Shinryu?Anytime a DFC changes zones, it turns back into the top/front side. So it'll transform back into Zenos
>>95894464>It's not psycho or evil, it's just math you fucking troglodytes.2 land opening hand is more than enough. You have 3 draws to get more land and there are 2 mana draws and searches for land even in white
If your deck has ways to gain card advantage, how many lands are on top of your deck does not matter as much.

>>95894370Mill doesn't prevent you from playing your deck. Some decks even do better with more gas in the graveyard. It just filters brainlets because "i was gonna draw that" is textbook hindsight bias.
Say you're running a big stompy green deck with 8 mana coming down at the start of your turn. You really want your Craterhoof Behemoth, as the board has no answers to it and lets just ballpark you having 71 cards left in your deck; but I'm gonna hit you with the aptly named Predict on your upkeep, milling you for 1 naming Craterhoof. There are three possible worlds that result from this:
The first world is your draw for turn was Craterhoof, it goes to the graveyard and I draw two cards because I'm a supergenius.
The second world, is your draw for turn wasn't Craterhoof and you draw a completely different card. It is possible that this card could win you the game this turn, but we're going to assume it's just going to be a solid play.
The third world is that your draw for turn was not Craterhoof, until I milled off your 'next' card and you drew it on your turn.
The odds of the first world occurring, all other things equal, is 1 in 71.
The odds of the second world occurring, all other things equal is 68 in 70.
The odds of the final world occurring, all other things equal is 1 in 70.
For each additional card milled the first world becomes more likely, but you'll notice something odd. Lets Archive Trap you:
The odds of the first world becomes 13 in 71.
The odds of the second world becomes 57 in 58.
The odds of the final world become 1 in 58.
Notice that while the odds of milling the Crater went up, so too did the odds of drawing it from the remaining cards. In fact the odds of milling it went up from 1.4% to a whopping 18.3%, but the odds of drawing it went from 1.4% to 1.7%. You have roughly a 4 in 5 chance of mill actually making that win more likely. This is pretending a world where cards cannot be recurred from the graveyard.
>>95894625I will go on. These worlds pretend that there is no way to get the Craterhoof back onto the board that turn, which is frankly insane. For 2 mana alone as standalone cards in Golgari you have:
Animate Dead
Life//Death
Persist
Soul Exchange
And we began with the premise of hard casting it. It's not worth me listing all the reanimation effects that could all slam that fucker into play because it didn't get sent to the shadow realm, just the second hand some players have.

>If your deck has ways to gain card advantage, how many lands are on top of your deck does not matter as much. Then run card advantage? You should be already.
Most "flooding" I see is from 38 land 10 signet decks that speedrun out their commander into removal and then have nothing to do. If they had just played 43 lands and early plays that do things(Dark Confidant, Esper Sentinel, Ragavan, Sylvan Library, Faerie Mastermind) they'd have a similar amount of mana by turns 6-8 but way more cards/board presence.

Mill is a disruptive strategy, that's why you're playing it. Don't be a fag and act like that isn't the point.

I binned a discard deck idea because the idea of not having cards to play is no fun, but unless you're fishing for a single card in your deck mill doesn't even give you less cards to play until you're drawing air.
>>95894754>A 2 lander will brick on its 4th land half the time in a 38 land deck.I'm going to say again, you are not accounting for card advantage. Until you do this conversation is entirely pointless.

Now consider you do something retarded like put 43 lands in your deck. If you open with 3 as you're so desperate to do, if the top 3 cards of your deck are land, you are simply fucked. >>95894917My post mentioned the odds with a Night's Whisper in the opener, and it goes both ways. Card draw helps you find action in your 43 land deck the same way it helps you find lands in a 38 card one, the difference is the 43 land deck can reliably cast it's 3+ mana card draw.
>Now consider you do something retarded like put 43 lands in your deck. If you open with 3 as you're so desperate to do, if the top 3 cards of your deck are land, you are simply fucked. >>95895890I think it depends strongly on the deck, and the token doubler. Actually it's a short enough list we could cover it:
Adrix and Nev, Twincasters is acceptable with some built in protection. I personally wouldn't run them as commander, but the fact you can isn't bad.
Anointed Procession isn't great in my mind; it'll hit on enchantress and other effects, but a 3W that doesn't even give me a body is a hard ask on curve.
Doubling Season is similar in that respect with a 4G pricetag. If you were going to cheat out Anointed, it's nice to get the extra effect though.
Elspeth, Storm Slayer makes me seeth for 3WW. Onboard generation, free +1/+1s and removal all together is obviously going to be efficient. No further remarks.
Kaya, Geist Hunter is cheap and that's probably the best I can say for her. Funny interaction with Fynn, The Fangbearer in Abzan.
Mondrak slaps in a 4/4 body that's easy to make indestructible. Dies to exile removal. No further notes.
Ojer Taq is expensive, but a 6/6 blocker and triples is cooking some. You can try to make a case for turning into a mana rock when he explodes. It's not a great case.
Parallel Evolution actually makes the fucking tokens in spite of being fucking hilariously expensive. Only bad in comparison.
Parallel Lives is just Green Anointed Procession.
Primal Vigor is just Green Doubling Seas- wait a second.
Rhys is asymmetrical Parallel Evolution on an elf for one more mana. That's surprisingly not bad actually.
Second Harvest is Parallel Evolution at instant speed that isn't symmetrical. There's really little else that can be said about it, it sells itself.
TL;DR: Elspeth is fucking cracked and Second Harvest can turn a good round into a win. Mondrak gets an honorable mention for a mix of cost effectiveness and flexibility with Twincasters doing his shit in simic which is also pretty alright. Rhys is Rhys.

>>958961374 is still a lot at a casual table to be doing nothing else when it comes down, which is why I gave better marks to the ones with bodies. If you're leaning very wide with a commander that vomits out tokens then running a lot of these together is good civilization, but the cheaper ones definitely should probably go in first.
Special mention in decks with WB: some doublers and repeatable sac outlets will take an okay deck and shoot it into space.
>>95896137The problem that I have is that I feel like a token strategy that relies on doublers is not a very good deck. So you have to build your deck to be able to function even if you don't draw your doublers.
But if your deck can function without the doublers then you don't need the doublers at all do you?
It's not that they're bad, provided that they can come down and survive the round and you can get a significant amount of use out of them. But it's the definition of win more. All that it does is propel an already strong position or token engine. They do nothing on their own ( except elspeth), so ironically including more of them doesn't really make your deck stronger at all. Instead you need zero to one. Most of the time I just choose zero, especially given their monetary cost
>>95896226token doublers help you bring back your board after a wipe. exponential growth is a wincon in itself that synergizes with all of your other wincons.
>>95896226>But if your deck can function without the doublers then you don't need the doublers at all do you?No deck NEEDS a doubler but if your deck is built around doing something, doing 2x that something is probably pretty good.
>>95896127A good deal of players are completely blind to their own deck's power. What was he playing? Were it lopsided games or were they mostly close?
I was told my deck wasn't bracket 3 but it meets all the criteria
so far so good here
i kinda want more jp cards so its hard to read stuff or know whats going on, make em use google lens to read how they loose
>>95896471>"I play Peer into the Abyss Targeting You"Option A: Players do not know what the card is.
"What does that do Anon?"
>"Guess! Teehee!""Don't be a fucking faggot anon."
Option B: Players do know what the card is.
"Okay cool. Mana Drain."
Special Bonus Option:
"Whats does it do Anon?"
>"Guess! Teehee!""If you don't know what it does you can't play it."
>>95891481Yeah, they have to revisit Warhammer before shit just gets completely out of hand with these cards
>>95896471So you're hoping to drag out every game you can? From my experience, every time someone has played a foreign language card someone at the table has to stop everything to look it up. Even if it's something obvious. And if your whole deck is like that you are going to make every game ridiculously slow. Which I can get if your goal is only having time for one game a night.
>>95896543did you forget to take your meds today bro
>>95896571Sorry I should explain the post to you since you don't seem to understand it.
Anon was describing acquiring more foreign language cards with the stated goal of forcing other players to translate them. I explained that there are three possible worlds that arise from this scenario. In the first world, where he is playing against new players or players unfamiliar with the cards, he would be asked to explain what the card does when he plays it, as is reasonable whenever taking any game action. In a second separate scenario, I proposed a world where players were experienced and would recognize the card by name or art, in which case play would continue at speed. In the final world, humorously described as the 'special bonus option', I suggested a world identical to the first, only where angle shooting over card text was unacceptable at the table. As a result, the response was to demand an explanation for the game actions being taken as they are being taken, or else anon would presumably be disqualified from playing in the pod. As EDH is a multiplayer game, social rules are an important element of play and intentionally aggrieving friends or strangers is a poor choice to undertake. I didn't mention that personally I find foreign language cards to be a cool addition to decks, but it is important to be clear about the board state during play since, after all, purposely obscuring public knowledge and angle shooting are frowned upon with good reason.
I hope this explanation has gone a way to resolving your misunderstanding. There is an additional ironic layer to this explanation as a demonstrative point of reference as to the need to be clear with the intentions and contents of any idea being conveyed if the goal is to maintain good relations with other members of a community or group. By all means though if you wanna be a classless bitch, you can go fuck yourself.
>>95895277What do you expect them to do, skip their land drops?
It's a $20-$40 card. Are you surprised it's powerful?
>>95896650I'll take that as a yes.
I have a great debate for /edhg/
What is considered chaining multiple turns?
A:
>recurring the same extra turn spell from the graveyard multiple times
B:
>the above, and any two extra turn spells played back to back
C:
>all of the above, and time stretch/expropriate on their own
And a bonus question:
If the answer is B or C, what should a player with two extra turn spells in hand do?
>play them back to back, fuck it
>sandbag and act as if they have -1 card in hand for a full turn cycle
>build a deck with no more than one extra turn spell
>>95895908The +0 on this card's good. Flying until your next turn makes it pretty easy to defend in combat.
I simply want a commander that can get a REALLY high number. Any number. Suggestions?
These sky pirates are one of my favorite characters in all the franchise but they are kinda weak. Is there anyway to build them to be tier 4 almost 5 ? or salty as fuck ?
>>95895887I run 38 and only go to 36 if I'm being greedy

>>95896743Might I suggest?
>>95896768>have to pay for the extra combat>ability only triggers once a turn>creatures don't untap>gruul>requires vehicles Settle for bracket 3.
What do you guys do about pods that get incredibly salty just from you running basic shit like board wipes and targeted removal? I'm ostensibly running a tier 2 deck but they just get so fucking surly whenever I don't let them start up their engines or pull off their game plan. Like a guy pouted all game because I put a pacifism on his Garnet or another moaned that he had wasted a whole evening on this game because I board wiped all his tokens after he spent five minutes popping off. I try to keep the relative salt score of my decks low but I feel like I'm always the one ruining everyone else's fun because I'm the only one holding answers half the time. Is this just too toxic of an environment? Do I go full group hug now and just let them twiddle their sticks for two hours?
>>95896885genuine question where the fuck do you find people like this, even the newest of precon babies i play with aren't like this
>>95896893>genuine question where the fuck do you find people like this>>95896885>I put a pacifism on his Garnet>GarnetUBpiggy who just wanted to play with his slop without interference.
>>95896750I want a commander that can without aid of a specific combo and preferably NOT infinite; increase the player's life, a creature's power, toughness or counters of any kind to an absurdly high number.
Something like the new monogreen Tifa for example, exponentially increasing power.
>>95896870I actually looked into Uril when I was checking out voltron commanders but don't think it can naturally or consistently get power/toughness as high as I'd like
>>95896893We have a dad's group that gets together and plays once a week while our kids play together. We alternate Commander and other board games like 40K Boarding Patrol
>>95896931there is a "high enough", you know
>>95896743Vivi Betor, Tifa, etc. there's lots
Fuck it, I'm making a new thread. This one has slowed to a crawl and every other post is UB slop.
>>95896885Nothing really. Some people are just like that. I don't know if it's because this is the only card game they play or they don't get that interaction is a thing but some people just don't like it one bit. I've been in similar situations myself. Often it feels like I was the only one who dedicated deck space to removal and everyone else just wanted to go off uninterrupted until one of them won so I end up having to hit a bit of everyone's board. The answer should never be group hug though. Those are the worst fucking thing. The way I've dealt with it is that sometimes you have to be the guy. The guy removing pieces, putting a target on yourself, and taking out players first chance you get. People will get salty anyway. Nothing for it.
>>95896885Show them the retardation of their thinking. Go full greed pile. Fill your deck with broken value engines and outpace them or stax pieces that don't necessarily remove their stuff but ensures that they can't do anything with it. I had a type like this at my kitchen table, a wannabe solitaire player who refused to run removal and became a salty bitch about getting their shit taken out, so I just ran a basic bitch token deck with doublers and was putting 100+ creatures out on the board by turn 5 and eventually they accepted that interaction is a necessary part of the game and one the devs (usually) take into consideration when designing cards.
>>95896931>exponentially increasing powerfrom my experience:

>>95896671no, I'm saying why do people pretend it basically doesn't exist when playing against it
>>95896471But you cant do that anon. In fact players can straight up ignore your board if you are playing foreign cards without stating what they do, and having it memorized

>>95888616 (OP)>most hated type of deckanything that takes ages upon ages to resolve though it usually depends on the player.
