You don't even need it to use cantrips.

Talent comes from the Mage skill, which is in the Wits section, and Cantrips are lifted like everything else from the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons, where cantrips are spells that you can infinitely cast.

Talent also comes from the Magic. Notice how one of the benefits of Magic is 'magical growth', and how one of the level 8 benefits of Magiclets you 'learn and combine new magic on the fly', and how the magic perks all get better the more Magic you have.

Also the cantrips here do still cost mana, and you don't even have the baseline Magic 1 most people have so while I don't think you're going to run out quickly I really wouldn't bet on infinite casting.

Anons, I need some advice on a cyoa I'm writing.
It's an Arabic inspired cyoa (though it has Persian and Babylonian inspirations as well) that has the PC be born as the new Emperor.
There are two things that I'd like some advice for.
The first is how the power balance shall be, the idea I had was that the Emperors are scions of the sun (supreme god) and are unchallenged by none, yet while none of your subjects shall oppose you, they'll all manipulate you, trying to buy your favor.
Since the emperors are immortal (in terms of aging) and hold great power, they can crush any single enemy that dares raise their sword against them, so his emirs and viziers would gain power through careful politicking and lavish gifts.
Your power would come from two sides, your main powers are given by your epithets (think of a whole branch of powers opening once you take an epithet) eg. Sayyid al-Rimāl al-Mutaḥarrikah (Lord of the Shifting Sands) would open a whole power structure based on sand

I'm using the 2.0 version of Dragonfall made by some unknown guy (allegedly Italics but I don't believe that). It's much better because it gives Eastern Dragon a free tier 1 magic, which means that you can take a free tier 4 magic. Before I would have needed to spend my first free tier 4 on flying, which I don't particularly want.

Agreed, I think my build is very powerful and I don't want for much. The only thing I'd prefer is the Fist of Kings, but basically I headcanon baked Spirit Breath and Bestow Immortality together, so that people journey to me to seek my blessing, I breath on them and make them immortal. But then I needed Corrupting Breath, for the duality. I look into their souls and if they're good, I bless. If they're evil, I use corrupting breath instead. This means that I needed to use my second Megumin gift to steal corrupting breath instead of fist of kings. This is an irrelevant tangent.

The point was that it isn't about points, I just think the drawback adds a lot of character and a good weakness that makes the character a teensy bit less OP. But if I have five extra points I might as well spend them.
