>Thread Question:What is your opinion on the panzerkampwagen VI?
Post stuff about your chapters/battalions!
I'm looking to make an graphic with the organization of my AL Host and would like some inspiration or examples.
So far my Host, the Ismenios Configuration, is broken up into two Cohorts: the first is the Order of the Coiled Cog and is the heavy support/exotic or experimental weaponry/mechanicum leaning element of the chapter.
The second is the Hesperios and is the more traditional infiltrating sabotage and assassination/veteran assault cadres.
They are also tasked with making sure nobody survives to speak of the tech deployed by the coiled cog, I'm picturing them as the professionals cleaning up the messes left behind by the retarded techmarines of the coiled cog after they decided to strap a nova cannon to a leviathan again
If anyone has made their own graphics of love to take a look.
>>95932902Paramar was AL traitors vs IW loyalists, and it was great.
Have any of the 9 HH books covered Loyal traitors vs Loyal loyalists? Or Loyal traitors vs Traitor loyalists??
>>95933169A graphic? I never really pictured the force beyond the FOC list.
It's an Alpha Legion independent cell. There's definitely other clones of it, but it changes config whenever it needs to.
The fluff is that it always gets to deploy the same marines because the casualties are replaced by new recruits, and the previous new guys ascend to vets.
The current commander is the former Saboteur. He ate the brain of his former commander (died in battle) and found out that guy had been the Saboteur before him, inherited the post the same way.
He thus promoted his only surviving Seeker to Saboteur (like he himself had been), and reconstituted the next iteration of the Unbroken Chain...
>>95933146 (OP)>Thread QuestionPretty good in a fight and feared for a reason, but historically quite overhyped and honestly kind of the blueprint for a of bad decisions that followed it.
The IV and the V both were better designs with more impact.

>>95933146 (OP)I had a 2.0 dream list of running as many flare shielded tonks as possible. So like 2 Kratos and Spartan transports with a Typhon and troops as required in the spartans.
Sabre: Stug III
Predator: PzIV
Vindicator: Brummbar
Sicaran: PzV
Senator: Jagdpanther
Kratos: PzVI
Typhon: Sturmtiger
Fellblade: PzVII
Falchion: Jagdtiger
Am I missing anything?
Possibility of a new faction?
>>95933169Aside from using as base the one from the black books i look at inspirations from historicals, some games like older flames of war used as FOC a company graphics that had the core company strength with their own support units, regimental support and divisional support. You can translate regimental support as cohort/battallion and divisional as chapter support. I think the new FOC it would be great for this kind of shit.
Never made one for /my dudes/ but always saw my Fist mechanized assault cradle as mostly rhino companies, some predator companies with only 1 sicarans/kratos platoons, 1 terminator company in land raiders, support companies with stuff like veterans, seekers, dreads, whirlwind, spartans and "advisers"/ad hocs with stuff that my force doesn't specialize like legion specific units.
Who were more desperate, blackshields or loyalist run-offs from traitor legions (or both)?
I'm kinda wondering where exactly the line is between a loyalist Death Guard or Word Bearer cohort and blackshields of the same origin
Would using Legion Astartes (Death Guard) as a loyalist represent a force that's just better equipped and has access to more regular supply than blackshields?
>>95933652Loyalists from s traitor legion could be blackshields.
Really the distinction is that one still consider themselves deathguard/dusk raiders, and nominally fights in the same way, while the other is actively hiding who they are, or at least has entirely split from that legion identity.
But yes, your idea is cool and makes sense.
Got some more Kratos done last night. Didn't have time to do the Tank Commander's shoulders, but should get it done and varnished tonight
What happened to loyalist forces from the traitor legions, anyway? Did they get absolved if they survived and proved their worth? Could they form the basis of a loyalist chapter once the legions were split?
>>95933693Depends. Some became Blackshields ir warbands, some like Dantioch's IW were invited to fight alongside other loyalist legions, and its implied that they became the Silver Skulls, some like the loyal DG on the Eisenstein it isn't massively clear but we do know they were locked up for a period, some
Praying that my legion trait isn't as shit as Legions Imperialis with no infiltrating near my sniffy doggies.
>>95933601Yes, there'll be a full Rangda box next year.
>1 Rangda Warmaster>1 Rangda Overlord>1 Slaugth Murder-Mind>10 Rangda Osseiovores>10 Rangda Cerabvores>20 Slave-drones>3 Murder-drones>1 MacrobeestThere'll also be a campaign book that includes their full army list, the full Xenocides campaign and new rules and units for the legions and the auxilia.
>>95933693Most were quietly folded into the chapter system under the name of a new foster legion rather than their old ones. Others were dispersed among the loyalists piecemeal and it's probable that some others again were discreetly taken behind the woodshed.
>>95933601>>95933803The Auretian Technocracy and their manlet space marines
Had some more time to work on my IH mortifactor. I'm now getting to a point where I'm pretty happy with most elements outside a few minor greenstuff fixes and the position of the servo arm (which I can't change).
Anything you guys seeing that needs changing or should be added? Perhaps a helmet crest?
>>95933843>He spent time and money planning and doing this conversion, then photographic and editing it into a cute montageGuys.. Do we tell him ?
>>95933835Auretians, Interrex/Diasporex and Gardinal are probably all too irrelevant and ill fleshed-out, but it'd be interesting to have non-imperial humans and their take on STC-derived tech like power armor, rhinos and volkite guns.
>>95933843This is a great use of an old mini. My only complain is that it looks too Mk7. The primaris pauldrons almost pass the smell test, being for techmarine and all that, but in the end it looks more of a 40k than a HH model.
I would swap the paultrons for mkVI ones to give it a near-MkV look better suited for the era (specially with those knees). Take inspiration from the FW praevian.
>>95933879shut the fuck up
>>95933879I bet you measure all your opponent's models to check the scale is modern
>>95933907Fair points, I'm actually waiting for a replacement mechanicum pauldron but the bits seller seems to have fucked up. When in doubt I guess I can just shave off the rim.
>>95933879Luckily I don't play against modern Cadians in my HH games. And even if I did, this guy's primarily going to be standing next to a contemptor, so the size difference actually works out in the model's favor.
are rapers good for thousand sons moving into 3rd?
>>95933979We just don't know, with the changes to heavy they might get some extra rules, and considering how tsons are this edition they may get another rework to help them out.
If you like the models go for it, maybe hold off gluing in the weapons if the new kit allows it, otherwise just wait and see.
>>95933979Raping is more of an EC thing i think.
Do you have any fun fluff for /yourdudes/?
I know HH is more of a historical-like game, but there's always room for hijinks, especially stuff that's built off ingame happenings.
>I like fun stuff like grond
>>95933364The new FOC looks like it would allow you to do that using armoured fist slots without too much difficulty. Dumping big blobs of basic marines out of spartans has a pleasing kind of crusade-era vibe to it.
>>95933979Should probably go with molesters instead, all things considered. Way less commitment and easier to set up.
>>95933803Osseiovores were described as their Titan analogues. So unless this is Titanicus, 10 of them would be overkill.
>>95934074I always intend to write good fluff but frankly I think it ends up coming across rather generic and cookie cutter, which is weird because my VTM character ideas are always quite niche and well thought out
>>95934074Yes.
First, they're painted in Orange, because they come from the <Redacted>th Legion and had to deploy in Orange livery for a specific <Redacted> Task.
So I basically ride editions easily, I don't care about which legion is good or which is bad because I always come from <Redacted> Legion anyway.
>>95934183This account is a lie.
>>95934147Generic is fine, you can always spice things up later but it's always good to let the creative juices flow.
>>95934183Change.
>>95934183Lorelet can't even comprehend the absolute joy it is to be able to completely change armies 3 times a single Gaming Saturday and how enjoyable it is to not be tied down to specific rules for 5 years until you change mind and want to repaint everything.
Yes, its muzzle break. But It looks cool and a melta already had one so it's fine with me
>>95934246What's the transparent bit on the side?
>>95934120wow the boners they eat on planet rangdan must be as big as yours
>>95933601Non-SA imperial army? Rogue traders? Those were both mentioned in the 1.0 rules iirc.
>>95933601>see how they fuck up shit that already exists >ask for a new thing anyway The best thing that can happen to this game is GW stops touching it
>>95934246it's not a muzzle break on a melta I think it's supposed to be an air intake to expand the cone of superheated air before it's shot out, so kind of the opposite of a muzzle break which is there to expel excess gas and disperse the pressure on the muzzle. I guess you can call it another air intake though
Why does the new fellblade come with rhino style doors rather than the land raider looking ones on the resin version? Are they starting to fuck up vehicles too? I'm afraid to ask for the ones I've been waiting a while for now.
>>95934315I just needed that extra length and presence and it'll blend in when painted. Perhaps the forgeworld who scammed my SOH guys into purchasing the upgrade just have very good tech sales guys
>>95934328because GW doesn't sell LR doors anymore but they still sell Deimos rhino ones, anon.
>>95933169the 110th company of the blood angel, dubbed "pale tears"
not the best sons of sanguinius, but the most loyal, as the company boldly went into the ruinstorm to try and reach the emperor during imperium secundus
what remain of the fleet arrive above terra just in time for sanguinius to die, and them to go ham on the traitor armada
>>95934392>gorillion infantryNeat
Looks like the boxnaught is staying
>>95934557That's still the vendread kit which is missing half the boxnaught weapons. They never squatted that one.
>>95934573The only thing its missing are the missiles
So once I complete the starter set, what should be the next part of my army? Another dreadnought? A land raider or vehicle? The jet-bikes? Or just go for whatever I think is coolest?
>>95934633If it's your first time playing it get a feel for the game, as the start has everything you need to start playing. Once you have a feel for the rules and tactics you like pick units from there, legion specific shit, vehicles, etc.
>>95934589And the melta and all the mortis and siege weapons.
>>95934633Depends on what /yourdudes/ had.
>>95934633For now, since we still don't really know anything about the Legions in the new ed, pick something characterful of the legion or completely agnostic.
>>95934526187 models to be precise
>>95934557>CroweWeird choice to have a named HQ for the box, but I guess he's still fine for character conversions? Without the gay-ass Dreadknight it looks tempting but I imagine these niggas are getting replaced in a few years
>>95934642>meltaWas never in the orginal dreadnought kit, it's from the blackreach box.
>all the mortis and siege weaponsWere also not in the orginal dreadnought kit
>>95934758The siege weapons were in the ironclad which they also squatted alongside all the BA variants.
>>95934785>were in the ironcladBut that isn't the orginal kit.
>>95934573Original plastic dreadnought only had the assault cannon, one twin lascannon, a dreadnought fist, and the missile launcher.
>>95934799And none had the multimelta arm besides the one in the Black Reach starter set and older metal versions
Btw, speaking of sieges:
>Instead of recons or seekers, IW should field Havocs as their sniping/character killer squads as per their loreYay or nay? Seems to me like it would be a good idea to give them a better unique identity than just HHS a bit better at killing tanks.
>>95934790Point is the vendread kit is still sold so this box means nothing and all the missing weapons are still missing.
>>95934557Hm. Surely they won't fuck about with the Dreadknight's size, surely? It's already in the same height bracket as the Telemon and Armigers.
>Found a box of these im the garrage
>Triggered my dumb baby brain because of how simple and clean they are plus how wasy they are to build
>No I wish 30k tacticals were built like them
>>95934858>Redundant surely.Man, I'm off my game today, normally I'd find that shit in an instant.
>>95934859>found these>but have no pic of themOk, go back to 40kg now
>>95934913Why does posting a picture matter?
>>95934819I mean the lore implies they do the sniping thing with heavy weapons which is also how they work in game.
A squad of Havocs with either Lascannons or Autocannons can be brutal with precision shot
>>95934975>>No I wish 30k tacticals were built like themNTA but after this posts I wish we went back to resin and made it lethal to be handled without incredibly expensive respirators.
>>95935021that wouldn't stop shit people happily 3d print which even with ventilation produces extremely carcinogenic chemicals.
>>95935021Why? They are cool
>>95934858The updated version is just an extra sprue in the old kit
>>95935052I'm talking bella-donna meme levels of toxicity, walk in a room without a mask with a resin consul and you will die. Filters for masks to protect against 3d printing resin are pretty cheap.

>>95935086but reddit told me legions number in tens of millions of 9' tall sweaty and sexually active supersoldiers
>>95935086>Inductii mentionAyyyy you love to see it, maybe there is hope after all
Man I want Two sicaran omegas cor my word Bearers but I don't know if I should just get Recast turrets or wait and see if they finally get to the missing sicarans in this release wave. It seems unlikely though.
>>95934557sigh, To the 3D printer I go.
>>95935086IW rivalling the UM for size doesn't really add up. They state that the IW were at about 180,000, while I recall the UM were floating closer to 250,000, with several legions being close to that than IW were.
>>95933843Looking good, I did one up for my RG recently.
>>95933879That image is misleading unless kasrkin are freakishly tall. That height is Primaris marine when I put one next to mine.
>>95935179UM were 250K 7' warriors
Now they are 200K 8' Warriors
It's called a retcon.
>>95934557Wait, these are the old models, aren't they? Aren't GK getting Primaris'd?
>>95935179>>95935189IW were actually the biggest legion by far interms of net numbers, they just died a lot more so they never got that big in practice.
>>95935197No, gk are manlets only. Even the new modes are Mablets
>>95935206but aren't the fucking Votann taller than them ?
>>95935197No. The "update" they got was an additional sprue for the dreadknight. GK as a faction are done.
>>95935197Sadly, no.
>>95935188The Karskin are 1:60 scale, the perfect "True" Scale.
The old marines are around 1:75. So much smaller than they should be.
So it's not that karskin are tall, because they are in line with every single other AoS, 40k, and 30K army, it's the marines who are small.
>>95934557It's just a way for gw to rebox the stock and try to move it don't get hopeful because the gk line is a mixed up mess and in their wet brains updating the baby carrier was a good idea
>>95935227So Kasrkin really are 99% Primaris height according to that comparison picture? My hell blasters reach the same height as that guardsman, just about the bottom of the claw. Accounting for slight angle variance, that puts them very close. Too close.
>>95935141I'm sure they're in. I would doubt anything gets cut. Even if it did it should be really easy to port over.
>>95935197People think they're getting a scale update in 11th at this point, all they got recently was a fucking Dreadknight sprue that didn't even make it look less shitty. Not even sure how the Primaris stuff would go with their unique gene seed, anyway.
>>95935077you need masks connected to a ventilator, and no civilian home has sufficient seals to prevent that shit circulating round. It's only a matter of time until you start hearing of more and more deaths from it, it is industry recognised already.
What do you think about converting other Legion's characters to your own? Using them as generic Praetors of course
Do you use these guys? I wonder if these heads aren't too big for Heresy numarines and it's hard to find any photos of kitbashes using Night Lords upgrade sprue
>>95935471I so it sometimes, though I used garrius as a warmonger specifically (probably now a terminator centurion givwn the changes lol)
>>95935471I bought Haar to make into Kharn but considering doing a custom praetor based on Khargos Bloodspitter instead, though he might be better as a centurion.
>>95935537aren't head sizes consistent between numarines and Primaris?
>>95935537I just built a small AL force using them.
>>95935550New heads are visibly smaller than the old marines and Primaris
>>95935471I think it's a nice way of making some good kitbashed characters. I know there are more people who use Fafnir Raan as a base for their own praetors and centurions then they do actually use him as is on the tabletop for example. I've been considering getting Zephon so I can try and convert him up into a Raven Guard champion desu. I did think of also trying to convert Aster up to be a Sallie praetor but trying to file and scrap all the BA stuff off would be a nightmare I imagine
>>95935548Bloodspitter was an apothecary in MkIII, anon. Although you could use it as a primus medicae, I guess
>>95935411You really won't. You'll see the occasional hospitalization from someone doing something extra special with it, but home use isn't going to kill very many people on a time scale that is newsworthy.
>>95935550>>95935583To elbaorate slightly, I think new Helmets are smaller, new bare heads are about the same? Go figure.

>>95935705>>95935680Honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless I was looking really hard for it
>>95935705Not needed in this case. Nubkeakies are just really small for some reason. They look small even on new corvus armor. Probably because the shoulder pads are so large. Legionarie helps would be fine on them.
>>95935471Does converting within your own legion count too?
>>95935744The deadly Zebra Blade...
>>95935752Ha does look like a zebra. I'm experimenting with it. That was my first try. Looks great at table top distance though. Might refine it later, I'm more focused on completion of the army.

>>95935811Ceramite cna look anywhere from "unpainted plastic" grey to bright silver depending on how polished or rusted it is. If the scratches are recent, they should still be shiny. Also, you could just chalk it up to the forgeworld using a slightly different ceramite recipe

>>95936371Alaxxes wasn't such a big deal then, always was made out that the wolves took more casualties from that if anything.
Are missile launchers, heavy bolters, plasma guns, melta guns and flamers good in HH or is there some power creep that makes it volkite weapons and nothing else?
>wanted to start heresy word bearers with betrayal at calth back in the day, life happened and I got money now but BaC boxes are scalped as shit now
>everything plastic now requires upgrade sprues
>realize that stand alone mkiv boxes come the same special and heavy weapon options as they did in the starter box
Double score since it's still my favorite mark of power armor, and if I buy three boxes I'll have at least two small heavy weapon teams, two to three tactical support squads and up to forty regular tacticals which sounds like a solid core for a small army. Question is, are those weapons still good?
>>95936280We have until July 26th when it hit shelves, so that tracks.
>>95936396>How big is an abeyant's base?Depends on the model. The Archmagos one with the separate platform is on a 60mm base while the old Magos Dominus is on a 40mm base. I've seen people use Dunecrawler legs to make a big pimpin' abeyant conversion.
>>95936414if anything, wolkite are the worse.
>>95936414Missile launchers and heavy bolters never have and never will be good.
Plasma guns are nerfed to shit but might be worth if cheap
Melta guns and flamers are new meta.
PS: taking a few special weapon in a vet squad might be gone in 3.0, if things ended up going in a direction of veteran Tacticals have all special weapons and veteran assaults have all melee weapons and pistols
>>9593637140k marines are so few (yet powerful) that doing normal wars is wasteful, and instead specialize in shock assaults and decapitation strikes.
Russ tried one and it failed, mostly because the plot demanded that he couldn't outright kill Horus before Terra lmao.
But I think it's to his credit that the battle plan is exactly what marines are meant to do: maximum strike towards HQ. Mortarion did exactly the same at Galaspar, and so has everyone else.
We can fault silly BL for writing themselves into a corner and having to go with "but he decided not to kill his brother <3", but the battle plan was as good as the standard goes.
>>95936414Short answer, yes. Long answer is that legions can skew this answer a bit and it depends on how meta you want to get. 30k is very easy to go either way. 3.0 tactical statuses will make some weapons like flamers better all around. So talk with your local group for power scaling.
The exception being that it looks like plasma is not good in 3.0 but we don't know how much things like rending and critical hits are given out by characters. If say a vigilator or armistos hands out auto breaching 6+ on hit rolls, then plasma might be great.
>>95936444>PSWould really be nice to see what changes they are going to make the army lists.
>>95936469You'll get that info after you've spent your money, ingrate.
>>95936414>Missile launchersOvershadowed by lascannons currently, but still a very point efficient way to deal with veterans and tactical squads with apothecary hugging an objective.
>Heavy boltersLots of dakka for cheap, better than people give them credit. Main issue is that they usually compete with more devastating weapons that you also need to deal with the dreadnought spam.
>Plasma gunsPretty mediocre, too much points for the damage they do. But still decent enough to field them if you like plasma guns.
>Melta gunsGood against everything that's popular currently, like dreadnoughts and terminators.
>FlamersFlamers suffer from the game being marines vs marines, but can still surprise if you can get in a good position and rack up a scary amount of hits.
There is a new edition coming next month or so however, so we don't know how the weapons will hold up. That does mean however that now is the best time to get into HH as a new player, because everybody has to learn the game all over again.
what kind of rules would you lads give a remembrancer? i figure they'll be useless in combat but might inspire the squad protecting them to some added heroics in the hopes of being recorded.
side note, anyone got the old bell of lost souls 30k ruleset? came out in 5th ed iirc
also, fuck captcha
The more and more I think about it, the less justifiable mk6 TS seem
>>95936522Literally just a 1W model that can eat a shot instead of someone else, but no gun and only 6+ armor

>>95936552reasonably sure, but im autismo enough to want to make some kind of actual benifit the squad holding one has, including it having a statline for snipers, etc to try and clip out to deny the buff to the unit.

Assuming that's the case (mild "if" there), plasma is slightly better from 12.1"โ24", but noticeably worse within 12". Which, I wouldn't know how common it was: nobody used plasma guns in 2.0 because they fucking sucked โ and that one's not an assumption.
If plasma was full AP2 (at least its maximal profile), like it should be, even a single full range shot would still be better than two Breaching 6 ones, and there would be an actual reward for closing within 12".
We shall never see the likes of that ever again.

>>95936753TS kit probably got trashed and they linked up with the main traitor lines prior to the Solar campaign so there's every reason they would have mark VI. The main issue is actually that they'd be taking on Inductii, there is no way you could blind select recruits and hope they were latently psychic enough to survive Magnus' geneseed.
>>95936901Gayn't. A fully committed Archmagos is a shitposting armchair general 24/7, and shouldn't bother himself with actual fighting. He's there to oversee things personally, at most.
The other traits are cool too though. They be scanning all the ways they can chop people up
>>95936977it would be fine if archmagos had to be the warlord, as it is you just grab a magos on abeyant to do the calculus while the archmagos use his rules somewhere else
>>95936940TS used their sorcery to repair and maintain their weapons and armour, it's mentioned often in their books IIRC.
But as you say, after Prospero and going by the current story there's no room for inductii. Amon, the main guy in charge of them didn't even leave the Planet of the Sorcerers until the Siege.
We could imagine rogue TS apothecaries elsewhere in the galaxy doing it, I guess.
>>95936522The rule i would give them is, if they are within LOS of a character that wins a duel, you get VP base upon the type of character and duel
IC would have levels
Primarch 5
Named Character 4
Preator 3
Centurion 2
Sgt 1
If the Rememberancer is within LOS of the duel, and you win the duel you get 1+ (Positive difference between the winner and the loser)
Example
If a preator duels and kills a enemy preator, he gets 1 VP
If a Preator duels a Sgt and wins, he still only gets 1 VP
If a SGT duels and kills a preator, he gets 1+(3(Preator)-1(SGT) -> 1+2 VP
So if LOL a sgt some how kills a primarch you get 5 VP from that.
>>95936864>nobody used plasma guns in 2.0 because they fucking suckedNo one used them because TSS were stupidly overpriced
If TSS are not like that anymore plasma could very likely be one of the best options. Even if it's worse than before, if it has 2 shots at 24" that's still really fucking good.
Everyone here raving about melta and flamers being the new meta is completely ignoring that reactions are still a thing and if you walk within 12" of an enemy they can just move away.
You can also only cause 1 panic test and it happens at the end of the turn so having a whole squad of flamers is absolutly retarded when you get the same result from a rhino combi-flamer
Multimeltas could very well make meltaguns pointless since they don't hit on 6s after moving. Or their Heavy downside could still make them absolutely useless in general. We don't even know what the melta rule does because it's not in the special rules for some fucking reason
TSS could also be troops and much easier to access than HSS.
Missile launchers could have D3 for all we know.

But never forget being better than 2.0 plasma guns is an incredibly low bar to clear. Never forgive that plasma was full AP2, that a single AP2 shot is better than 2 breacher 6, and they took that away from you.
>Everyone here raving about melta and flamers being the new meta is completely ignoring that reactions are still a thing and if you walk within 12" of an enemy they can just move away. It's okay to disregard the fact leaker anon already showed us there's only 1โ2 reactions per turn (not per phase, per turn at all). Maybe marine commanders bring extra reactions with them. Could be.
But do remember the games you played. Remember you could make one Withdraw, but that wasn't the only one you needed to make. Return fire with X (and maybe Y) and Z won't be able to Evade.

>>95938067From all the descriptions I've seen, it looks like they're all rather individually crafted, while Marines are more mass produced. Don't think they got a black carapace, since that's a Marine implant. They likely interface with their armour in a different way.
>>95938067it doesn't really sound like it but there might be something analogous in play, i got the impression that auramite plate contoured itself with the motions of its user in a more wireless or even aetheric sense in the case of toads
a toad is a singular work of alchemical homunculi artistry whereas marines are mass produced for the express end of total disposability
>>95938070There is one flashback set during the Unification Wars, before SoS were a thing, where the custodes have a somewhat vague undefined feeling of being incomplete. In another flashback the SoS are already established, and each custodes has a SoS "partner" of sorts that they instinctively recognise. It is nothing romantic or anything, but the pairs do compliment each other incredibly well in combat and can understand one another in an instant without having to use words of even the SoS sign language.

There are literally only two possibilities.
Either all deepstrike in the entire game will be fundamentally useless.
Or 10man melta deepstrike will be overpowered.
It's not possible for them to give enemy the ability to counter 10 meltas appearing anywhere on the entire board impossible to actually screen with 100% reliability unless they give anti-DS counterplay like the "cant DS within 12" of this unit" device that would make things like tactical pod drop armies entirely useless.
>>95939220Id wager interceptor is still a thing. You can still get clever if you can land outside of LoS of any real shooting threat.

>>95939451That's what they cost now with a warmonger
A 400p tank is likely AV14 and we still don't know if reinforced is a thing. You might not even be able to wound them
The new stupid expensive dreadnought has a -1S field for melta weapons, T8, 8W and a 4++. Statistically, you will not kill it in one go with 10 meltaguns.
And it's going to intercept you, likely with ap2/3 weapons. You might not even do that one wound.
>>95939386interceptor is no counter at all when they can teleport essentially anywhere they want with a congo line that can shoot through its own men. And it burns their reaction (making the DS player's shooting phase entirely unopposed stompfest) and the interceptor loses almost all their firepower by being forced to Snap Shots and tanks can only use Defensive Weapons (so nothing actually a threat)
It's really funny hearing some retard say "you're allowed to freely teleport anywhere on the board, that means it's balanced because you'll always choose to go to the only spot you don't win"
No, actual adults will always choose the spot on turn 2 or 3 or 4 where there is no statistical chance of the enemy winning. The defending player never gets to make a single choice in the placement, it's entirely on the person who can freely appear anywhere since 30k rules writers are so retarded they didn't put a 9.1" restriction like Games Workshop already figured out through trial-and-error 10+ years ago.
>>95939557>No, actual adults will always choose... the spot where their juiciest melta target is in full view of the best unit to intercept and nothing can hide from it and be within 6" of the target.

>>95938105He created a new race of champions, but they're not what the Men of Gold 2.0 are meant to be, are they?
The Emperor created the Primarchs when his perpetual friends all abandoned him, as he needed immortal generals to fight the Crusade.
Had the perpetual not left him, he wouldn't have made the Primarchs.
Then the Primarchs themselves got stolen, which precipitated the need for long lived warriors โ if there wasnt going to be immortal generals, then the armies themselves needed to be immortal. Which in turn made Thunder Warriors not only obsolete, but a liability.
Had Primarchs not been kidnapped, Marines wouldn't have been created.
The original plan was to have mortal armies with ephemeral superhuman champions led by immortal generals, but their absence necessitated long lived superhuman armies that could operate whilst their Demigod lords were being searched for.
And all of that was merely to pave the road in realspace for the New Men to arrive. Now that door's closed.

Drop pods were incredibly reliable in 2.0 and and meltaguns could blow up tanks even easier than they can now but no one has ever bitched about them. So where the fuck are you all coming from now?
Intercept doesn't take away almost all their firepower. You hit on 5s now with snapshots. That's half the fire power still there. And you can count on multiple units shooting at you if you are actually dangerous.
And none of that even matters with how shit meltaguns seem to be at dealing with anything worth all this trouble
>>95939660It isn't. You have to place the whole unit in coherency and within 6" of the first model and he's ignoring a lot of other stuff but you can't really expect someone who bitches about something so passionately to have actually read the rules, can you?

Great way to make the Sisters of Silence cool
>>95939753>ymmv on if there is a difference. At least for 40k there is, since I assume their soul remains. That's how the setting gets around the teleportation dilemma.
>>95939744>>95939770According to their codex, it seem like they're still being made.
/HHG/ you all got a model that you like, or know you need for your army but for some reason you just hate fucking painting it?
For me its the rapier, they are kinda never not a good unit to have, and so because of it i always wanna get a set of them, but fuck me they just suck horribly to paint, that kit shows their age bad.
>>95938278>"This is how Diocletian looks to the world outside his brothers and Sisters."Since Sisters is capitalized but not brothers, he could just be referring to the Sisters of Silence. I can't find him saying sisters without a capital
>>95939744Yeah they have gene alchemists and chirugeons in Terra who make more, and the Custodes themselves oversee creation too. We're told there's some element of overwriting the soul, like there's nothing recognizable of the original kid.

>>95939220>guaranteed the second they made deepstrike 1" with zero scatter. Why don't they just add scatter instead? Charging out of deep strike would be fair if the unit still scattered, because scatter is random and you don't know where you're going to end up. But let there be mishaps for deepstriking into units or terrain, like 7E did, right?
That sounds workable
>>95939858I can't wait for the first femstode model because even if it's just a head on a standard body the shitshow is gonna be legendary. I hope that flimsy looking guardian spear they previewed is one.
>>95940216>Charging out of deep strike would be fair if the unit still scatterednot really.
Charging out of DS was one of the most broken things they ever introduced into the game and there is a reason why it did not exist for the majority of warhammers life time, and was only really introduced in modern 40k back in 8th ed, and it was as broken as you think.
Scatting does not really help the issue because you have a good chance of not scattering and a sizable change that you wont scatter in a native manner.
>>95940216I already typed up a word doc for three different deepstrikes; Deep Strike (Precise Drop), which is what it is now. Then I added Deep Strike (Teleportarium) and Deep Strike (Rapid Decent) plus a mishap table with status effects. I'll present it to the homies after a few rounds of 3.0 to see if its worth it.
>>95940252I think charging out of DS should only be possible if you pay a premium for it, so kamikaze squads aren't viable. Then again, kamikaze melta squads have always been the soul of the game
>>95940252You're in the minority here. We don't want a max shooting edition. Deepstrike assaults with scatter are fine and keep gunline armies honest.
>>95940252I dunno, in literally half the games I've played with my termite list my opponent has gotten to pick where they wind up, and I've had bad scatters in others, too.
But, you can't charge out of termites, so I guess it's different still. Just scatter can still suck.
>>95940252I 100% agree with this sentiment
you are basically guaranteeing you get a charge roll on whatever unit you want, without subjecting the deep striking unit to at least a turn of shooting
it's fucking stupid
Charging out of deepstrike should deny your set up move so you're just left with the best of 2d6.

I could very easily tolerate a characters granting the ability to charge out of DS. But the thing to consider why its so powers to be able to charge outta deep strike its its a way to move a very killy unit up the board without being shot at the entire time. The only way you are getting terminators into melee is waddling them while they get plinked away, or taking a very expensive transport to hope to god it does not explode, vs DS which is just there, in your face, ready to go, and unimpeded by getting up the board.
Being able to charge outta DS base is broken.

And even if you decide to spend your stratagem point on intercept, which only deals tickle damage, that only comes after they decide where to place the unit, which considering it magically teleports anywhere on the entire board, will never be in sight of a shooting unit that can actually harm them. There's no longer any scatter, so there's a 0% chance that the DS comes down into a place your "shooting units" that actually deal non-tickle damage will ever get to use any intercepts.

>>95940734Why are you mixing 2.0 and 3.0 rules?

in 3.0 you can't even charge out of deep strike
>>95940734Hance there should be scatter. You act like people want scatterless melee deepstrikes. I want both scatter and a mishap table otherwise you could just drop directly on top of enemies and move the unit until they are further than 1", and then melee.
Otherwise, you already solved scatterless deeptrike: it's Melta hour, simple as.
>>95940268>>95940615Is there anything like ERA in 40k (fluff or rules)? There's side skirts (Armoured Company rules), anti-magnetic paste (AC), ablative armour (2e), ceramite armour (2e, AC, HH, etc.), reinforced armour (2e), anti-psychic armour (2e, GK), but I don't remember seeing anything resembling ERA. Maybe one could use ablative armour rules (ignore first pen from direct attacks)?
If deepstrikes without scatter is so good, how come I never saw people deepstriking melta TSS? Drop pods are immune to interceptor, because Interceptors hit the drop pods, then the units inside disembark right? (I never saw anyone use drop pods at all)

Honestly DS in 2.0 is quite literally the worse version of deep-fried in any version of the game I have seen.
It's written to be extremely all or nothing. Disordered rng roll can utterly fuck you, interceptor being wide spread and very powerful means you need MASS deep-fried or risk just being obliterated by interceptor.
And charge from DS is extremely powerful, to the point it will easily make or break the round on a single dice roll.

it's nobody's fault but your own if you're using it exclusively for melee instead of stealing objectives or blocking advance routes
>>95941061what are you talking about? DS in 2.0 was 100% about daisy chaining your dudes, you always put your big fat 20 man blob down and spread them out then you could deep strike within range of that squad. DS in 2.0 was fucking stupid.

>>95941061Anon what are you smoking?
1.0 DS rules meant you had to clump your DS units in base to base circles - in an edition with MANY ap2 pie plates, ap2 plasma cannons etc.
2.0 DS actively encourages you to daisy chain as hard as possible (and I would go as far as saying actively punishes you for not doing so)
>>95941035Original DS rules were good because it was harder to do mass DS (outside of drop pod lists where your entire army is built around it) since you're rolling reserves per unit.
The all or nothing nature of DS in 2.0, both on the sides of the DS player and the receiving player of needing to intercept the shit out of them, made DS honestly an unfun mechanic, both to use or to play against.
I feel like in 3.0 they realised the horrific issues of 2.0 DS, and just decided to hard nerf it into the floor by only allowing one reserve per turn instead of just... going back to the old fine rules.
>>95941035Reactions are gay because they take away from the immersion of the game. Previously, a unit going to ground or overwatching was the UNIT reacting to what was happening on the tabletop.
Reactions as a game mechanic is the PLAYER reacting, taking away agency from your individual units and replacing it with yugiho trap cards.
Nothing is dumber than one unit overwatching meaning every other unit in your army can now only stare slackjawed, eyes glazed over as they get charged, since you the player used your one 'do something' token.
I also think it cheapens the unique mechanics of each legion. Previously they could have strong, army wide mechanics (and drawbacks), which was replaced by One use only, by only one unit, magical trap cards for the Player.
Its part of why 40k is so shitty these days. The game is both simplified and very 'gamey' instead of actually feeling like 2 armies fighting it out on an actual battlefield.
>>95941148Thought you were talking about Mortarion for a second.
>>95940963My problem with that, outside of my own opinion Femstodes cannot escape heavy fetishism, it that there shouldn't be female superhumans, because of the danger those could somehow reproduce (pic related).
If superhumans are kept male, then they are obligated to defend the mortal population if they wish to replenish their numbers, thus ensuring they protect the lesser, normal human species.
Female superhumans achieving reproduction means they no longer need to, and can go on to fully replace now-obsolete baseline humans.

The Emperor could've helped Mortarion instead of steal his kill, just like how He could have rescued Angron and his freedom fighters instead of kidnap him and left them all to die.
It doesn't even change anything or create an "alternate heresy": Mortarion would still dislike Him and psykers, believing they taint anything they touch. Angron would've kept his Butcher Nails friends and their taint would've contaminate the legion, and he'd still rebel because the Emperor is another tyrant who demands the stars dance to His tune.
He did allow Corax to finish his rebellion, after all.

I enjoy the options I get with the 30k tacticals. And they are as easy as they can get: glue torso, glue torso to legs, glue head to torso, glue arms and weapon, glue a ton of optional accessories, done.
I recently got 5 old snap fit Cadians, they were awful as well. Because lazy ass GW made them so one can see the pin that connects the gun to the torso. I had to carefully cut that away.

>>95942558It's a stretch. Also it's a big expensive kit you're cutting half the volume of.
>>95942558I'm usually really permissive, but it feels like you're kind of taking the piss at that point.
>>95942558I would be more likely to allow it with the balloon, commit to the bit faggot.
>>95942485>2 weeks of solid rules, new lore, and box contents>dripfeed junk third week>still a month out
>>95942226Wait, shouldn't the Libers be there too? Why is it only the box on this sheet?
>>95942517The DA were so turbo autistic about keeping secrets they didn't even show their own weapons to most of the members of their own legion
>>95942658It's probably set to release a week or 2 before the books
>>95942675That would mean it goes on preview this week or next which seems unlikely
>>95942675>>95942658Maybe the books are GW direct only?
>>95942654After it's up for pre-order they'll move on to their next thing, with just the odd mention til release.
>>95940725>>95940522Wasn't he under constant threat of censure on account of being the fucking Night Lords? Like... of all the Legions, the NL were the ones who changed the least in over ten thousand years.
Even if "the law autist" was felt to be trusted, the idea that at least one of their reinforcements might be traitors as well SHOULD have occurred to them. Fuck if they'd actually been capable of rational thought, neither Vulkan or Corax should have actually been on the Medusa in person. Everyone should have been showing just a bit more paranoia than they seem to have been.
Like, they didn't even seem to have considered the possibility that any of the other Legions involved could betray them.
After HORUS, basically considered to be the most loyal of all the Primarchs turned against them, taking the Death Guard and a legion literally called The Emperors Children with him (nobody is surprised by the World Eaters, except perhaps that it took so long to happen) and nobody seems to have learned that the point of that is that they shouldn't be trusting ANYONE right then.
At the very least they should have seeded the drop site with nukes. Horus literally just did that. The idea should be fresh in everyones minds right then.
Although... to be fair, the idea doesn't seem to have occurred to the traitors either during Istvaan V. Like... if there'd been a single fallback plan or countermeasure in place for betrayal then it would have turned into a very pyrhhic victory at best for Horus.
Like... this really should have occurred to Corax to do this, and it should have occurred to Horus that they might at least have some kind of plan in place if they had.
