To roll your mech use a "dice+2d1000" in options without quotes. First number determines your weight. Second is what mech it is.
In this case cause its Marik vs Marik so the same distribution applies to both sides.

0-300 = Light
301-700 = Medium
701-925 = Heavy
926+ = Assault

Andurien can roll either Marik or Canopian RAT. Match being set post 3035 so pay attention to † symbol.

The enemy Bushwhacker moves up, and Flapjack and Deadeye see this via seismic sensor and round the corner to skirmish. The Dervish uses its jump 8 to sail in, popping a coolant pod to fire snubs and two medium lasers for 0 effect.

The pirates score several chunky hits, the pair of RACs doing 25 damage, as well as the Gladiator's PPC. The Carpet Company fails to score any meaningful damage in return.

Turn 6:

Pirates charge over the hill.

I goofed up my Uziel's movement and ended with +2 TMM while only being 3 hexes from the Sagittare.

All of the pirates dump fire into the Sagittare, scoring 40+ damage and causing a failed PSR to topple the assault. The Sagittare retaliates with its battery of pulse lasers, opening the Uziel's RT but failing to set off the ammo, and shredding it's left leg down to 1/3rd armour. The Uziel fails it's PSR and takes a tumble. Lu Bei Wing takes superficial damage from the Dervish and Bushie.

That's where we left it for the night. Might pick it up today or tomorrow.

Overall, this was the most damage adverse game I've ever played. Only two rounds with real shooting by turn 6. My dad set up the map, and I think he put in a bit too many level 2 hills, which combined with the dropship to create very congested sight lines.

I think I played well, using my 4/6 assaults to feint at the start resulted in his mechs needing to pivot, which made him fail to set up in an advantageous position. I'm concerned that my Uziel is about to pop, which will be very bad if I can't take out the Sagittare in the next turn or two.

But the brawl is starting, and I'm fairly certain my Banshee and Lu Bei Wing will be able to CQC the Sagittare to death.

The odds of rolling in the Elite bracket are 1/36. That's ~2.75%.
The odds of rolling in the Veteran bracket are 2/36 or 1/18 or ~ 5.55%
The odds of rolling in the Elite OR Veteran bracket are 3/36 or 1/12 or ~8.3%.
Meanwhile, the odds of rolling in the Green bracket are 15/36 or ~41.7%.
If you do somehow manage to roll in the Elite bracket, there is still a chance that you roll a 3/4 pilot. In the Veteran bracket, you could also roll another 3/4 or even as low as a 4/5. By the numbers, if you roll anything better than a 4/5, you KEEP IT! Take a look at the current roster. 4 other anons have rolled 4/6 pilots so far. Do not complain about getting a 3/4, it's really good and that 1st extra point of Gunnery goes a long way in helping you to land shots. We've also seen that in these massive matches, PSR are numerous and frequent. A good Pilot skill is arguably even more important than Gunnery for these matches.

In other news, met NEA, played a bit of Leviathans. Fun game, he's a good bloke and a hell of a teacher. I wish our GM had that much presence and energy for running games. Levs is interesting, it's about 80% of the detail of Battletech for about 20% of the effort. It's not going to replace Battletech for me, but I definitely want to pick it up when it's released. Also confirming that NEA is a much more attractive human being than bottom. Even through the long navy coat, the mans got cake.

Alright, working out battles for a three week campaign to run in July, I've decided I want two battles per week, themed on a planetary invasion. Week one will feature an invader force hot dropping in to capture a fortress and a small skirmish over what turns out to be the location of the on-planet tech cache. Week two features a desperate battle of attrition in a city, and an ambush centered around a long tom bombarding the city. I want week three to feature a DropShip Assault as one battle. Should it just be one big battle with everyone involved, or should there be another one?

I am of the opinion that in future events, we should either ditch the re-rolling of pilot skills entirely, or at least attach a -1 to the rolls for a re-roll. Part of these events is the randomness of the rolls and just going with what you got. Afterall, these are less about who wins and who loses and more about the spectacle. Lesser pilots have their place in that as well. That's also how legends are made. Nobody bats an eye when the 1 gunnery guy lands all his shots, but when the 5 gunnery guy does it, now that's something that gets talked about.

There's nothing wrong with rerolling. Yeah, if you're greedy and get burned, tough shit, same if you roll twice and get a bad result each time. You have to keep it. Alternatively, abolish rerolls for experience class but keep them for skills, given it's more significant to change your class than to change the results of your skill rolls.

Redoing that example: say you roll 4d6 and get 1, 3, 2, 3. Green pilot, 5/6. You reroll 2d6 to get better skills and get 4, 1. Your final result is 4/7 on the same column. Makes it simpler. I made a typo there too, it would be 4/6 not 4/5.

Anyway, if I were to recommend anything it would be to shift probability towards more regular pilots than green; that's the simplest solution of all. Changing rerolls would probably just confuse people given what we've seen before.

So tonnage wise, I recall the Anduriens were concerned early on about being too light, but they actually came out ahead, but only by 25 tons. That gives the Andurien a 4% advantage on weight. It's not much, but it's better to be ahead than behind.
On the gunnery front, both sides are showing impressive averages with the Mariks only ahead by an average of 0.08. That's a miniscule 2.5% advantage for the Mariks. When it comes to this stat though, what the gunners are piloting is the real important part. 3 Marik pilots have a gunnery of 2 across 150 tons worth of mechs, while the Anduriens have a lone 45 ton P-Hawk at 2.

Other notable gunners to keep an eye on are the Hunchback and Phoenix Hawk pilots for the Mariks. While they do also have a Wasp at G3, well, it's hard to get excited about that, but hey, you never when an SRM will slam into a cockpit for a head crit kill.
The Anduriens likewise have a G3 Hunchie and a G3 Warhammer which shall not be named. It should be noted that there are also 3 lower tonnage mechs that all have G3. Fast moving accurate shots en masse? Could be dangerous.

On the piloting front, the Mariks are walking around in clownshoes with an abysmal 4.84 average. There are some major concerns about if the Shad, and Tito's Quickdraw will be able to stay standing. Then there's the Orion pilot of "FUCK ANDURIANS". 7P. My goodness. This could be an easily knocked over mech that gets taken out quickly and as 1 of the 2 heaviest mechs that Mariks have, that doesn't bode well. In fact, it's only "East" in the Ostsol that seems to have any real piloting skills. Looks bleak on this front for the Mariks.
For the Andurians, they average out a 5.5% advantage on the piloting front. Their worst are a Hunchie, Wolverine, and Scorpion at P6 and their Stinger, but again, do bug mech stats even really matter?

Overall, I'm giving a 7% edge in this battle for 57/43 odds, favoring the Andurians. Not quite a 6/4 matchup and it could go either way, but hey, you always want whatever odds in your favor you can get. This all without calculating any BV though. It'll be interesting to see what those numbers come out as.

For the Mariks, it seems like it obviously has to be Bruno "Mace" Zimms. Being the pilot of 1 of the 2 heaviest mechs makes him a strong contender and his twin mech buddy just isn't up for it with his stats. One could make an Argument for Mike "East" Donna however with his respectable 2/3 stats in a 60-tonner.
For the Andurians, it seems even more obvious. When you have a 2/2, he's gotta be the boss.

Could be, but remember these are all piloted by Princess. "Mobility" is not really a thing in the royal furball. We will see walk 2 Stingers and Wasps try to facetank and kick the forward arc of mechs three times their mass.

It'll certainly depend on what the map is like and even more so how Princess behaves. All I can do is analyze in a vacuum as if the match was being played by 2 competent people, but we all know that's not going to happen.
The more I think about the lists, the more I lean towards the Andurians. "FUCK ANDURIANS" could potentially be a really big liability and if he goes down early that's a big chunk of the Marik firepower gone early on. We also know that when a mech falls to the ground, Princess loves to have everyone focus fire it. In matches like this, you fall to the ground, and you're pretty much dead a turn later as you'll have up to 12 mechs all firing on you for easy hits.
The Andurians also have a Stalker and a Longbow. They're going to provide a crazy amount of LRM spam and over the course of a long battle that will be a lot of damage and contribute to multiple PSRs for the Mariks.

The Feddies last time were a walking itano circus of LRMs. The Cappies before that had a PPC wall. It doesnt make that big a difference because they never coordinate fire and miss half the time. Everything hangs on dice rolls. Personally I enjoy the Carrion Crow a little more. The C and D are both fun with high jump movement profiles. Favorite War Crow of the ones I’ve tried is probably the B. Not a fan of the Prime config in either case, expensive loadouts that seem to require more finesse than I have to truly maximize their effectiveness.

I appreciate the breakdown anon did in the thread. This has turned into a relatively well balanced match in terms of BV and even tonnage.
Map will be a random map, likely 34x30 hex with basic terrain. Mainly should only see trees hills and some low depth water so nothing for Princess to go full retard mode on.
Quirks are enabled along with accidental fires just for a bit of added spice.
Will start this match depending when I am back on Saturday or Sunday, whichever day I'll aim around 12pm EST.

Looking at models at least(which might not be the best way to compare scale) mediums and heavies are pretty similar in terms of how the heads could be scaled. Really the main limiting factor is the cockpit is in the head which becomes more complicated with some mechs. Like trying to compare how much space a catapult gets vs a black knight. Also with assaults they do tend to take the more tonnage is bigger philosophy but again a lot of that is the king crab.
