For those of you who still actually homebrew fill this out
>>95937871>Specifically Space MarinesDiscarded
What are the opinions on which fancy ravener heads to keep and which to replace with the normie ones if I'm doing an Adapted Ravener squad? I think the antler & fin ones look straight up retarded unfortunately I think I'm stuck with the Zoidberg fin because it feels like a really nice way of making it clear to my opponent who the Ravener Prime is
>>95937813this model is eternal
>>95937882You don't have a xenos homebrew
>>95937761Since I painted some sisters, I have attempted a deathwing knight and it was super easy, I should go back and re-try sisters. I think I just primed the deathwing knight wraithbone, drybrushed it white, then washed it with agrax. The tricky part is straight brown wash is too strong and I need to dilute it some amount, and that's tricky to get the balance.
>>95937871I have a guard regiment homebrew so I probably won't be able to fill in much.
>Investigated by the inquisition>Rogue Trader/Inquisitor Deus Ex MachinaThat's about it.
>>95937902I guess Homebrew Dynasties don't count.
>>95937896but enough about you
>>95937885You can convey a ravener prime effectively with a simple pattern on its carapace
depending on how large the models are and whether you have the bit, you could also use the trygon prime rattle snake on his tail
another trick for majesty is spare tentacles from a hive guard kit slithering out of his wrists or palms in an menacing display, increasing the frontal presence laterally
>>95937888he isn't ugly but there are better farseer models out there
>>95937896You have no taste and no test
>>95937924I should also add that they're a fleet based regiment because I can't be arsed to homebrew a whole planet and its history so I'll count
>Fleet so large it makes the space wolves feel inadequateIf you count jury rigging weapons or illegally modifying as making their own tech then.
>Somehow makes their own technology, gets away with itLost in the warp time-skip sounds interesting, but I'm not sure how I can implement such a thing into a guard regiment's fluff properly.
Since we're talking homebrew stuff.
I was thinking my terminator heavy, dark angels successor chapter would be all about these topics:
-Spacefaring chapter.
-Originally tasked to search out lost dark angels fleet ships/other ships to find and restore old legion relics.
-Lose too many to this task, and reassess a new task of finding out what happened to their lost companies.
-Find the relics their companies were lost trying to find.
-Find that the dark angels has dark secrets, attempting to find the old tomes that shed light on these forbidden secrets.
And that's where I'm at.

They were partnered with a rogue trader who helped save the chapter from extinction by letting them recruit and re-arm on his worlds. From then on the chapter and rogue trader would explore in roughly the same direction, the chapter helping the rogue trader if he ran into xenos or militant humans, and the rogue trader providing intel to the chapter and helping them maintain their supply routes through his connections.

>>95938104They usually do, in their own way
>>95938100The opposite of icy blue is a coppery-orange color. It also by a nice coincidence, means that verdigris looks really good on copper
now granted despite being all metallic I've never seen anyone do rust or verdigris on necrons, dunno if there's a lore reason for that, but you could make their metallic skeleton be copper (game's workshop's Brass Scorpion is a very bright copper) and then use ice-blue for their glowing eyes and glowing weapons. Maybe even ice-blue shoulderpads if you're one of the people that do non-metallic necron shoulder pads.
The other two colors, the purple and pastel yellow, are just 90-degrees on the color wheel from ice-blue/copper, use them if you want to or don't, up to you
>>95938101>these are just lame. none of them hit like the marine ones. the only one that I'd give you because its egregious and something I've truly seen in the IG community is the abhuman one.I get ya anon.
The guard can be pretty boring probably because they aren't hyped up as well as the marines are and the marines have the monopoly when it comes to homebrewers due to being the posterboys of Warhammer 40k.

Make their own tech: kind of a grey area. They repurpose a lot of old equipment and have reverse engineered some components for replacement and improvement.
Codex deviants: Technically no armory or Apothecarion, instead the 8th company is double normal strength and handles it all. Every techmarine and apothecary is from the 8th and the company captain is an apothecary/techmarine combo.
They have a dreadnought whoโs roughly 5000 years old.
They tend to ignore Xenos that arenโt actively fucking with Imperial authority if possible. They canโt be everywhere and a measure of โlive and let dieโ is used. I'm really tired of the "Demons are being Squatted" rhetoric when they already tried to squat a faction this edition, it got massive negative response and they walked back on doing it already. And that faction has 1/8 the model range and history. And Demons actively got rewritten rules to make them better instead of leaving them with their mediocre release index. >>95938987You don't understand.
They're being shoe-horned into the deity specific chaos marine codexes. They will still be playable, but only barely. Each detachment punishes people severely for having any vestige of a playable 2000pt army. Especially if they weren't mono-god.

>>95939216Custodes donโt hate primarchs though, they dislike marines and normal humans donโt even enter into their thinking. They also wouldnโt intervene to stop the high lords from slapping down legion building unless it somehow involved the security of Terra.
>>959392335% of a nominal strength of 10000 marines would be enough to create a new chapter every generation. They would be the primary genetors of most space marines by M42 rather than the Ultras if that were the case.

>They also wouldnโt intervene to stop the high lords from slapping down legion building unless it somehow involved the security of Terra. The high lords also wouldn't necessarily intervene unless they had reasons to be suspicious. They left Huron get away with his shit for decades until it affected the tithes of other worlds. Much less if this chapter is following a particular set of rules that imposes other very specific limits. It's 10k marines because that's a legion era chapter and it will never be more than that.
>They would be the primary genetors of most space marines by M42 rather than the Ultras if that were the case.To be fair it isn't the Ultramarine chapter doing that, it's the ultramarine stock.

>>95939369People definitely would care. This is 40k, not Age of Shitmar. Beastmen got barely any pushback because no one actually plays AoS, they just buy the models for hobbying. If Vashtorr gets legends'd I will believe demons are being squatted.
>>95939031Are jetbikes allowed? Asking for a friend
>>95939413But I love my norn to the point I wrote a datasheet for it for older editions :(
So, HOW absolute is the Custodesโ authority in the palace? Remember this thing is continent-sized (mountain range?). Obviously they can tell you to fuck off if they donโt want you to enter the Throne Room. But can they show up at a random council meeting or what have you in the Palace and lay down the law? Also, is there no level of external accountability for them? Ie, if the Custodes let some random mortal nobody approach the Throne but told a High Lord to get lost, do they not have to explain themselves? โBecause I said soโ? I get that Custodesโ thing is wisdom so they wonโt generally agitate others or mess with other authorities, but do they really not have to explain shit to nobody when it comes down to it? How are disputes handled between Custodes and High Lords and Inquisitors etc? Is it like โstep to me and letโs find out whoโs right?โ
I have a confession. I got back into the hobby by buying a bunch of death guard and then life got me so busy so I didn't build anything for over a month. Today I built my second and final Plagueburst Crawler. Only a Rhino and some characters left before I can do my first game of 10th at 2k. I haven't played since 6th.

>>95939031>Also feel free to make suggestions for next months themeCharacter would be a good theme, people can kitbash them if they don't have one at hand
>>95939535Stop using such faggot slang you fucking child
>>95939285Yeah but Huron still had to do the raising secretly. Kind of like the BTs. Though in their case they genuinely just donโt know where everyone is.
Thatโs part of why the Imperial response went full crazy. I mean there might have been some willingness to just break the claws up rather than kill everyone until the one peace negotiation got third partied. Huron was an empire builder and wanted more, he was going to die for it eventually.
As for how they manage to keep it at 10k and not go over, have they had any issues in the past? How do they police their own people to prevent a particularly ballsy captain or chapter master from deciding he wants more. Why not add another 1000 marines. Part of the reason chapters can even go extinct in the modern era is they donโt have an economy of scale to work with. A full 10k man chapter would be able to replace thousands of losses quickly and easily, which theoretically the gene vaults controlled by the Administratum should be able to do too, they just say no a lot.
I mean my hombrew just pay lip service to their primarch, but itโs mostly in relation to how their enemies categorize them. Heโs just not their focus, founding chapter master and the concept of a Celestial Emperor kind of took up that cultural space. Daddy left for the milk. Doesnโt matter if heโs gonna come back with it someday, youโre just gonna have to deal.
How did your chapter even get together and be far enough away from anywhere important that they got ignored in the cleanup and enforcement of codex compliance until after Gorilliam got shanked?
Iโm not criticizing the premise, Iโm just curious.

>>95935511My money is on modern GW kits being sculpted for looks by digital sculptors who put little to no thought to how they might be laid out on the sprue, then cut and arranged by software tools with little to no human intervention. It would explain why there's "easy to assemble" kits in starter sets with shit like a random bit of knee armour attached to a cloak.
I'm assuming a level of non-retardation that's not exactly congruent with the behaviour of the firm, but if GW thought 3d printing was a threat there would be a return to fun to assemble traditional kits with more options.

Mostly because TWC with Wolf Lord and Wolf Guard Battle Leader were the hammer of my army. And WG Terminators with Captain and WGBL in Terminator Armour were the anvil.
And Njal with a blob of Terminators was also fun to run.
New codex ruined all of them.
And Murderfang.
And killed my Long Fangs with either Multi-meltas or Las Cannons, which anchored my anti-armour.

We know the stereotypical fetishes "Dark ANgels players are gay Space Wolf players are furries hurr" and they're mostly just dumb. But what fetishes really are over-represented in the player base of different armies?
Like, Space Wolf players are massive fans of muscular women
Black Templars fans tend towards the femboy

Can Grey Knights be sometimes asked to assist its a non-Chaos matter? Like say if some Inquisitor is scouring the sector for reinforcements to help with some battle, and he reaches out to a Grey Knights force on their way back from somewhere else. I understand that generally Grey Knights are super secret and only for dealing with Chaos and Warp threats, but theyโre STILL Astartes, and if the Emprorโs forces could use their help why WOULDNโT they pitch in if it wouldnโt interfere with their main mission? Or are they SO secret that itโs not worth them showing up at all unless itโs absolutely necessary to get rid of an apocalyptic Warp incursion etc?
>>95937813For individuals I would say picrel, but for vehicles it's the Falcon grav-tank. This piece is my favorite kind, where the character is posed for a classic paint & canvas portrait and the look it provides is more representative than literal. You know an old model is good when it still shows up in painting competitions even when the theme isn't retro minis.
>>95940625it's 40k, there's always an excuse to make anything happen.
But generally speaking, Grey Knights are so rare, so valuable, and so uniquely suited to fighting Daemons it would be a massive waste to have them spend any time fighting like Orks or whatever. A Grey Knight who dies fighting Necrons is a Grey Knight wasted. They are built for the sole purpose of killing Daemons, and are better at it than anything else in the galaxy.
But, as always, in 40k you can come up with a reason for any faction to fight anything. And even if there's no good reason you can always just say it's Tzeentch trickery
>>95940604Nah. Incels are the ones who feel the need to stalk people online just because that person said something they disagree with. Normal people just take the L and move on.

>>95940661Is it really an L if you don't care enough about some guy's hot opinion on an anonymous Montenegrin fishing forum to give even a mocking reply?
>>95940676The easy way to have Grey Knights fight non-Daemons is to just say that the bad guys are in between the Grey knights and the Daemons. Like there's some Orks that are using a weird Chaos thing to power their Mega-Gargant and it might rip open a whole in reality so the Grey Knights have to fight their way through the Orks to destroy the Chaos thing before it causes a Daemon incursion.
That's a perfectly fluffy reason to have GK fight Orks, but if the backstory is that there's just a regular Wauuugh happening and some Grey Knights showed up to fight it, that doesn't feel fluffy to me.

My guys, the "Celestial Raiders) were founded by the high lords of Terra during the distant tumult of [insert cannon event] to protect a large swath of space called the Attixus Beltway around the edges of the Ultima Segmentum. Basically they do counter pirating actions against primarily dark eldar and their #1 enemy, the red corsairs.
The TWIST is that they were sort of rushed into founding as the need for a chapter to monitor this growing travel/shipping space was great and everyone else was busy. So the high lords sorta did it quick and dragged their feet with telling the fuxking DARK ANGELS about it for a year or 2. So the chapter developed their own culture and rules etc. However after observing them for a few more years the chapter master and the higher marines of the chapter were brought into the fold, told of their duty to capture the fallen, and given wargear to bring them in line with other DA Successors.
The chapter gratefully and gladly adopted their parent legions ways and methods of war, however the chapter master was directly reticent to endulge in what he learned was the deep mistrust, carelessness, and paranoia that the hunt for the fallen was. So he decided the only active inner circle members would be himself, their Forgelord(tech marine guy), their high apothecary, their chaplain, etc you get the idea. No grunts or even vets would know.
>>95941119Anon this doesn't prove anything, if you're going to make the ebay argument you could easily have bought any number of those books that way. I also note a conspicuous lack of the first 3rd ed Chaos codex which suggests you might indeed be a faker who didn't know that you missed one.

>>95937871>Directly involved in major canon eventsso anyone that's old enough to have played in one of the global campaigns?
Anyway my chapter of IF successors was stripped of their homeworld and forced on a penitent crusade, launched themselves at a chaos invasion (which eventually stalled) and were effectively depleted before the order to reform as a garrison chapter finally reached them. New homeworld is an Imperial fortress world they've tarted up a bit.
By the time "current history" for the subsector many of our games take place in they are mostly recovered but still have a nice round 12 companies with two extra scout companies to feed new marines into the chapter. Weird mix of defensive/siege doctrine and scout specops shenanigans.
Few too many canon chapters with Castellans in the name so probably need to change up the fluff a bit when I get them out of their box again.

>>95941940Just buy and paint a Norn to get it out of your system.
>>95941992>AoS is a sinking shipbeen hearing that forever
>>95941980GW wants as little cross compatibility between departments, systems and armies, as possible, both to push people to buy more armies and products, instead of less but usable in more games, and because allegedly it makes keeping track of what sells and for what system much more streamlined for them, and they need that data to assign budgets between departments
also gw wants you to buy the newer and pricy 40k models for nurgle, tzeentch, slaanesh and khorne forces, instead of the old and cheaper demons
also the independent demon codex was a compromise of a different time and idea regarding the model ranges of chaos, when gw thought independent books for the gods weren't a possibility
also, in time, gw wants to give 40k its own cyber-demons instead of relying on the fantasy ones, but that takes time and in any case won't be a separate independent book, but units for the divided armies, nor it will be a range as large as demons are now thanks to decades of piecemeal releases
How long has this "post models" shit been going on for? Surely we need something new, this shit is stale af fr

>>95941980>>95942033I believe in the Imperialization of Chaos is the ultimate goal of the Emperor and the point of the setting. The Emperor plans to rewrite all of the Immaterium into his image. Abaddon the Loyalist, his greatest ally, is secretly into this plan. This is why he chose the name Imperium Nihilius, to retain the name Imperium.
Together, all of Chaos will become theirs. Khorne will wake up on his Golden Skull Throne, not realizing there's anything wrong. Tzeentch will be unable to shapeshift in any form but Space Marines. The only drugs going through Slaanesh will be performance enhancers for Space Marines. Nurgle's Nurglings have already started wearing human hats. The process has begun and cannot be stopped. Besides Daemons, all Chaos on tabletop is already Chaos Imperium. Eventually there will only be Chaos Imperium. Then there will be no Chaos without Imperium.
It's already working marvelously. The poster children for Chaos are CSM who fight with Bolters, Plasma, and other Imperial weapons. No Chaos Xenos exist. Daemons will be squatted and soon all Chaos will be Imperium + Spikes.
Chaos will become Imperialized. Just imagine what this means, the Immaterium composed of thoughts from countless universes, all being Imperium. This means across all realities, it's impossible to even THINK of non-Imperial things. This is the Emperor's goal.

>>95942120I mean the writing is on the wall, Daemons will not have physical codices it seems, all bespoke legions are getting summoning their own daemons massively restricted. It's pretty likely CSM will have a similar restriction next edition too, and they will probably not get nearly as much support rules-wise (since no codex = no money for GW). >>95938042>>95938042One of the most famous soviet war movies is called "And dawns are silent here". All of older generation have seen it many times.
The film tells the story of a detachment of German saboteurs being discovered in the frontline zone. All the people are busy elsewhere and therefore, for lack of other options, 5 young women, who previously served as anti-aircraft gunners, are given to officer Fedot Vaskov to command. They're tasked to prevent Germans from accomplishing their mission. One of these women has a little son.
It is then discovered that the detachment of saboteurs is much larger than expected so preventing them from carrying out their planned sabotage is much much harder than expected. One of the girls is sent to the rear with a request for reinforcements. She drowns in a swamp. The other girls die in combat, but they still manage to thwart the enemy's plan.
At the end of the film, the only survivor, Fedot Vaskov, comes to the girls' grave. He adopted the son of one of them.
Throughout the film, it is repeatedly made clear that women fighting on the front line, even in conditions of a shortage of personnel, is an incredible, out-of-the-ordinary thing. When GW inserts women into every squad of Cadians, and in its content makes them the only survivors and most likely officers - this is the agenda of the globalists.
So you're right.
