TQ: favourite alt win con?
This is the worst bait OP I have ever seen, period
>>95951311 (OP)>TQ: favourite alt win con?Don't have a favorite. I've got an alt-wincon tribal deck and I enjoy pursuing whichever ones are in my opening hand. Dropping a Mortal Combat against a mill player is definitely fun, though. I've got the Lab Maniac/Jace backups, of course
>>95951311 (OP)>TQProbably Etrata in my clones deck or milling opponents out.
Self-mill wins are cringe

>>95951311 (OP)>Draw EditionI HATE draw

your most dick flattening back breaking STAX
I hate having to police the table like a hawk. I wish I could trust other players to be reasonably competent and present their gamestate clearly.
>Play game
>Me on Abdel
>One player on Xyris
>Other on Ob Nix
>Game goes on
>End up killing Ob Nixilis five or six times
>Every time swinging for like 20
>One turn I remove him
>Next turn he's swinging for 18
>nofuckingway.jpg
>Ask why he's so big
>I know he has Mana Barbs and Bowmasters, but that's still excessively large for one turn cycle
>Has picrel in play with mana rocks so I didn't see it
>The entire game he's been counting each spell cast as individual pings
>1 spell, 1 ping, 2 spells, 2 pings of 1 each, ect
>I just took the lifeloss when he totaled it because efficiency
>Tell him that's not how the card works
>Too late to fix anything in the game since it's warped everything down to play patterns and removal incentives 10+ turns back
>Scoop anyway since Xyris player has to leave
That shit is so annoying. My entire gameplay would have been different instead of burning removal every time he attacked me. Yes I should be more aware and vigilant, but that gets exhausting. I just want to play a competent game. If you have questions or are unsure, ask them or be very clear with what you are doing, that's what I do.
>>95951389>picrelWhoops wrong pic lmao

>>95952065I wasn't ignorant about anything anon. This rule isn't in effect until the set is released. They are currently not legal as commanders. And even if they were, I wouldn't trust your opinion still because there would be no way you have any real experience with the card as your commander.

>>95953038I did something similar with my Chishiro deck. So I made the deck full enchantress with cards like rancor, whipsilk, crown of flames, mark of fury, unquenchable fury, etc. Between those all coming back on their own, and all the green enchantress creatures, I always have a ton of gas to keep going.

>>95956187We should absolutely bring back mana burn. I like forcing players to have to think about their plays, rather than just retard-slamming cards on table for two turns and win.
>>95956195It's really not, excess damage can be dealt to the player/planeswalker being attacked. The single tiny thing that could arguably be considered confusing about trample is
>Hey does this work with deathtouch?>Yeah>Oh okay cool
>>95956195I heard some in my group say that, but I don't quite get it. You can assign excess damage (beyond lethal) to the player. You just gotta figure out what's lethal.
>>95956199lmao yes please, we need pauper fixed
>>95956234Off the top of your head, how does trample interact with regenerate?
>>95956295Regenerate simply replaces the dying with a tap plus taking damage off, so lethal is still the same.
>>95956295It doesn't and I don't know why or how it would. That's not even a good gotcha, at least bring up protection/prevention or damage doublers.
The one confusing interaction is deathtouch, and that's because it arbitrarily works with trample when nothing else does.
>>95956330Deathtouch makes any damage lethal, so 1 is enough to kill something and the rest is excess
Protection doesn't change the amount that's lethal, it just prevents the damage when applied. Which actually was important the other day when someone with double strike and trample attacked into someone with protection, cause then you prevent that damage twice.
Which is different than indestructible for example.
But yes, damage doublers and trample were a bit wonky and I forgot about that interaction actually.
What decks are you working on right now, /edhg/?
>>95956355Something cute with Xander where everything in the deck is either "double" or "half"
>>95956234Trample was made intentionally over-complicated, unlike regenerate. It shouldn't be able to do the things it can. If there is excess damage it should just deliver it (choosing not to is okay honestly too), but all the fucking weird interactions with "Is this creature blocked or not? Well now it has two more toughness, now what? Okay well it's been blocked but I bounce the blocker, now what?" None of these interactions are intuitive nor do they do what they should have always done. If a creature with trample is blocked, it shouldn't get to change that later when no other creature can do this shit.
>>95956353Yet another thing that's weird about how trample works. So if a fucking rhino is charging you but it has a hypodermic syringe full of arsenic strapped to its horn, what? it just pokes you lightly then jumps fucking over you? Insane.
damage goes on the stack, nothin personnel
>>95956437This would please Yawgmoth greatly
>>95956437Mana goes on the stack. You're move.
>>95953954It's the manabox app
>>95956355>build Boros Knights>feel confident>decide to try Mardu again (I miss black in the colors)>Put Celes back in the command zone>put in a bunch of terrible knights with +1/+1 counter synergies>drop my Phy Altar and Roaming Throne to save for stronger decks>aim for lower power>trying to fit a knight into every spot possible (draw, removal, etc)>relaxing and cutting cards before bedtimehttps://archidekt.com/decks/14082626/rune_knights
>>95956407None of that is in any way counterintuitive. If there's no creature actively blocking it, all damage is excess damage. The math is done when dealing damage, so why would changing the toughness not go into it?
Why do we have 2 threads up?

>>95956722Would storm spells create [storm count] number of 2/2s?
>>95956707I send my big trampling rhino running towards you, you block with your squirrel, my rhino runs your squirrel over and the squirrel is just a speedbump that soaks up a little damage. If the squirrel jumps out of the way my rhino doesn't even notice the lack of a squirrel-shaped speedbump and you take full damage.
Now let's say I have a non-trampling knight, you block it with your grizzly bears. My knight is now locked in honorable combat with your grizzly bears. If the bears run away my knight is still trying to fight them like a chivalrous idiot.
>>95956746No, because you create a copy and don't cast the other spells. A lot of more recent spells specific "whenever your cast or create a copy of a spell" to get around this.
>>95956746No, copies of spells aren't cast. That's why Magecraft says "when you cast or copy a spell"
>>95956762It's pathetic you think that made sense. Now imagine it's not just a squirrel. Imagine it's an elephant, which are typically smaller than rhinos in MTG for some retarded reason. Your rhino is blocked. Normally you would kill the elephant and move on. But the elephant is removed and you're still blocked. Why does all of your damage still go through? You failed to explain why the knight can't just keep charging the enemy if the bear vanishes. You're using special pleading for trample, but the fact is it's a mess and makes no sense. And as usual, it's one JotC created for themselves because all of this could be changed immediately.
>>95956745Guess in a lot of ways thatโs a blessing. He was prohibitively expensive along with all the other modern staples when it dropped.
I also feel like every other card has โdraw a cardโ printed on it somewhere way more than used to be
>>95956796because there's no toughness present to absorb any damage. Logically, you're right, it doesn't make sense that a blocked creature stays blocked if the blocker is removed. But within the rules of the game, Trample dealing the full damage if the blocker is removed is perfectly sensible.
>>95956796Because of the nature of the attack, it's a stampede or a charge. If it's small, the rhino runs it over, and if it's nothing then the rhino just keeps running. It wouldn't make sense for the rhino to slow down just because something was in its way and now isn't.
>>95956655>bet you run the proper amount of interaction
>>95956825It also doesn't make sense that a planet eating theat is as strong as 5 bears. Gameplay trumps flavor.

>>95956845The galaxy should fear the squirrel, just as the dragon fears the spider.
>>95956845Well yeah, and from a gameplay perspective blocked creatures have to not deal combat damage for the entire combat system to function. This game would be shallow dogshit trash if you could always cast removal spells after blocks for full damage.
And trample creatures have to do damage in this case, because that's almost the entire upside of the ability.
Great Henge should be a game changer and people should react to it like they do Rhystic Study.
Craw Wurm should be a game changer and people should react to it like they do Great Henge.
>>95956898>9 drop>artifact so easily removed>only hits nontokensIt's good but it's not that good. But a lot of 'game changers' are really just 'salt cards' not their power

I don't think it strictly fits the definition of a game changer even if it can be impactful because it's just not quick enough and does nothing into a neutral board state.
>>95957006It really is just better Rhystic in the decks it's played in.
That said, the list is bullshit and should just be renamed to "hurts my feelings" list.
>>95957026Basically. Itโs also why land destruction is restricted in lower brackets. People donโt like playing against not because itโs broken necessarily but because it inhibits their ability to play. Canโt count the number of times someone had an outburst after 3x removal/bounces on their commander, despite it being the objective best play. Even if they would combo off on untap if you let them it still causes rage. Commander is just a casual format and should be treated as such.
Cold take: Sol Ring should be a game changer, but WotC will never do it because they want to sell more Sol Ring alt arts.
