I did something similar with my Chishiro deck. I tried the conventional split between equipment/auras but the equipment always felt like dead weight because you only ever got one token off of them. So I made the deck full enchantress with cards like rancor, whipsilk, crown of flames, mark of fury, unquenchable fury, etc. Between those all coming back on their own, and all the green enchantress creatures, I always have a ton of gas to keep going.

Protection doesn't change the amount that's lethal, it just prevents the damage when applied. Which actually was important the other day when someone with double strike and trample attacked into someone with protection, cause then you prevent that damage twice.

Trample was made intentionally over-complicated, unlike regenerate. It shouldn't be able to do the things it can. If there is excess damage it should just deliver it (choosing not to is okay honestly too), but all the fucking weird interactions with "Is this creature blocked or not? Well now it has two more toughness, now what? Okay well it's been blocked but I bounce the blocker, now what?" None of these interactions are intuitive nor do they do what they should have always done. If a creature with trample is blocked, it shouldn't get to change that later when no other creature can do this shit.
