The problem with that is the AC/2 is still a ton heavier than the LL, and you'd need to add a ton of ammo on top of that. You'd need to drop even more stuff to compensate, and it's still a pretty heavy loss in damage.
It'd make more sense to do what Janos Marik did and drop the AC/5s instead.

Meh, they are fun for medium+ after a round of alpha striking/heat build-up.

People were talking about the lack of succ wars Enforcer variants, and this variant seemed logical to me. Like the 4R it has a big gun in both arms, three weapons total, just enough heat sinks to be neutral when standing still and firing all weapons, and also has a max damage potential of 21 damage total. BV is up slightly to 1,104, and an extra half ton of armor was added to the side torsos and arms, retaining the signature lack of rear armor.

My question is, who would make this modification in universe? Would this be the ENF-4D, a homebuilt modification for prolonged campaigns? The ENF-4K or 4L, a Kuritan/Capellan modification of captured Enforcers? Or a merc refit designed to eliminate the ammo overhead?

We use BV2 but just as an approximation. If you're doing a generic brawl map it's still useful even if it does a bunch of questionable things like barely valuing armor at all and dramatically overvaluing heat efficiency or C3.

If you're doing a lopsided attacker/defender scenario it becomes basically irrelevant.

I use BV as an approximate gauge but I also weigh the practical knowledge of how the game works in balancing things too. Especially with Clan stuff and it's insanely high BVs you have to really know how to make judgement calls.

Like if I was running a strict BV balance you could theoretically put one Hellbringer vs two Awesomes, one of which has a 3/4 pilot. That's not going to be a good day for the Hellbringer even if the pilot takes every advantage they can playing peakboo and dancing around weapon ranges.

Round 2 and already off to an interesting start.

Colonel Conrad Murgatroyd after insisting everyone follow him has charged off on his own in the East flank which somehow works for him as he manages to get a sneaky hit to a Marik Quickdraw piloted by Tito Vulovic, scoring a clean hit to the LT with a medium laser shot.

Chester Lee and Sanyarae Thaweekarn have somehow managed to find the only rough bit of ground around and gotten their mechs stuck, forgetting they are both piloting designs renowned for being jump capable.

This opportunity causes the Mariks to close in on the stuck Firestarter and Phoenix Hawk. Thomas "Fumbles" Menino wastes no time in closing the distance to take a shot at the Phoenix Hawk LL. The Phoenix Hawk returns fire at the Spider with every energy weapon it has but misses.

As the rest of the Mariks emerge from the trees to shoot the stuck Anduriens also emerge from theres and an open firefight ensues. There are quite a lot of misses on both sides but overall the Mariks come out worse from the exchange.

Cassie Riggs in her Crusader manages to achieve a missile lock on the Orion piloted by Bruno "Mace" Zimms and he takes some scattered LRM hits. Archibald "Rain Man" Rathars Longbow manages to rain some missile hits on Karamond "Hardhead" Majere's Hunchback.

Overall though everyone seems to be picking their own unique individual targets for the moment.

Round 3 and things getting even more interesting.

Chester Lee manages to launch their Phoenix Hawk out the swamp they are stuck in and shoots over the head of Sanyarae's Firestarter who screams "Wait for me!" but remains stuck. The Phoneix Hawk lands right in the middle of water right next to some Mariks and a Canopian having a brawl. They spot Serji Baltivor's Stinger and fire a medium laser that strips the armor from the LA. Stunned by this sudden appearance of this Andurien Phoenix Hawk, Serji tries to return fire but misses.

Next to Chester Lee the Canopian Scorpion and Marik Wasp are engaged in a kicking contest and failing miserably at it. Zita "Bracco" Bertoli decides to try and use her Scorpions PPC at point blank but when trying to evade a kick misses and a PPC shot whizzes past the cockpit of a confused Karamond "Hardhead" Majere trying to get their Hunchback to the frontline. Distracted by this PPC flash the Marik Hunchback receives a cheeky AC/2 shot to the LT from a Canopian Vulcan with some more LRM's raining down on him.

Thomas "Fumbles" Menino and Izak "Bushman" Kahn try to shoot at the Scorpion but miss, with the latter managing to miss a target literally 2 feet in front of him.

Tito Vulovic suddenly aware they are being shot at turns their Quickdraw to open up Conrad Murgatroyd with Generic Soldierman and Grady "Grody" Paulsen providing support. They manage to score some laser hits but its not enough to stop the Mongoose closing the gap, scoring a few hits on Tito and fumbling an attempt at kicking the Quickdraw.

Sanyarae Thaweekarn Firestarter meanwhile takes multiple hits from different Marik mechs. Mike 'East' Donna manages to strip their LA armor. Dylan "Minute Man" Zephyr nearly cripples her RL and Bruno "Mace" Zimms attempts to rain LRM's down on them but somehow misses a static target.

There are other exchanges of fire elsewhere but they are misses.

Round 4 and Colonel Conrad Murgatroyd is still determined to take the East flank solo with his Mongoose likely yelling orders into his comms that nobody is paying attention to. He ends up surrounded by Mariks but is still gunning for Tito Vulovic's Quickdraw managing to score some laser hits. For his troubles the Marik Shad blast a whole into his LA, Anon's Orion manages to open up his RT with an LRM volley and Quickdraws continue to pound at him with lasers. Remarkably he still remains standing after all this.

Generic Soldierman spots Murphy "Mumphrey" Humphreys advancing up the East in his Wolverine to take shots at the Marik Griffin and decides to unload everything his Quickdraw has but misses.

In the West things are turning into a brawl. The Anduriens are charging up the field into melee. Serji Baltivor on the Marik side is the target of choice as an Andurien Stinger and Canopian Firestarter open up on him but miss. Dani in their Vulcan closes in on him and while distracting the Stinger with mg fire manages to kick the LL out from under him causing his mech to fall to the ground. Thomas "Fumbles" Menino tries to support him against the Vulcan but misses his shots at relatively point blank range.

This does not go all the Andurien way however. Mariks are concentrating fire on the Canopian Scorpion and cause considerable damage to it, opening up the LT. Bruno "Mace" Zimms and Mike 'East' Donna in particular cause significant damage to the mech and if it wasn't for the fact it was a quad it likely would have collapsed from the damage it received.

Elsewhere other units exchange weapons fire but are still missing although Archibald "Rain Man" Rathars is slowly whittling away the armor of the Orion piloted by "mace"

Bottom meanwhile continues to keep missing easy targets as they have been doing since the start of the game cause they are a faggot.

Round 5 and we have our first casualty.

Serji Baltivo Stinger is destroyed when the Anduriens form a bully circle around his downed mech. Thomas "Fumbles" Menino sees what is coming and bravely decides to run away to fire his medium lasers from a safe distance leaving only Izak "Bushman" Kahn coming in to try and support him who uses his Wasp to focus on kicking and shooting the Scorpion. It is a group effort but the kill credit goes to Archibald "Rain Man" Rathars who manages to deliver an LRM volley that finishes off the helpless Stinger leaving the pilot trapped inside.

In the East the Quickdraws peel off from the Mongoose to deal with the incoming Wolverine. Tito Vulovic manages to score off a series of impressive hits on the Wolverine even scoring a head hit with a laser but its not enough to knock the pilot unconscious. Murphy "Mumphrey" Humphreys ignores the damage to his mech and charges at the Marik Griffin who is currently distracted with playing a game with who can miss the most shots with the Canopian Warhammer, and manages to shoot several shots into it as well as punch it in the CT. Tito then tries to kick the Wolverine but ends up tripping over himself meanwhile Pilth Zabur surprised at suddenly being punched, kicks the Wolverine causing it to fall over.

Colonel Conrad Murgatroyd is focused on by both Orions and Shadow Hawk only to receive a medium laser hit. He appears to be taunting them both unaware to that there seems to be smoke rising from beneath his Mongoose.

Round 6 and next casualty.

Mariks insulted what was done to their Stinger unload everything they have in the area on the Canopian Scorpion deleting it from the field. Kill credit goes to Bruno "Mace" Zimms as his LRM volley detonates the ammo of the Scorpion sending Zita "Bracco" Bertoli flying through the air and into the water. They are unconscious but land safely. She can be sold to the Marians at a later date. Serji Baltivor trapped from within the wreckage of his Stinger manages to give the middle finger with a mustached grin to the exploding Scorpion.

Anduriens turn their attention in the West to taking out the Marik Hunchback now trying to swarm it with their lighter mechs. Karamond "Hardhead" Majere isn't taking this shit however laying down and blasts near enough the entire right side of the Canopian Firestarter with an AC/20 blast with support from Dylan "Minute Man" Zephyr, causing it to fall to the ground. Before it falls however, the Firestarter manages a lucky mg shot that crits his AC/20 rendering it useless! In a rage he tries to kick the Canopian Vulcan down to the ground as well but only succeeds in striping the armor off its leg. Chester Lee and Dani shoot and kick the Hunchback but only succeeds in making him angrier while Glemmy Zala tries and fails to distract the Marik Phoenix Hawk.

Colonel Conrad Murgatroyd realizing his ass was on fire and he actually has some backup for a change rushes forward to support the incoming Wolverine, trying to shoot up Tito Vulovic's Quickdraw as it opens up on "Mumphrey" doing some damage to his mech alongside "Grody" Shad. Generic Soldierman and Pilth Zabur try to intercept the charging Mongoose but fail to score any hits.

Bruno "Mace" Zimms continues to get bullied by LRM fire from the Andurien Longbow and Mike 'East' Donna is subject to attention from LRM fire from their Crusader.

Bottom continues to miss shots.

Round 7 and things swung back in favor of the Anduriens albeit not by much. Both sides have lost another mech.

Dani Slater manages to score a medium laser hit to the ass of the Hunchback that pierces through its armor after Getti Outheah Stalker manages to strip said rear armor which causes its remaining ammo to explode. This sends Karamond "Hardhead" Majere flying out of his mech and knocking him unconscious resulting in a rather bumpy landing but one he will walk away from.

Mariks respond by focusing down the Firestarter. Dylan "Minute Man" Zephyr does most of the damage but it is a kick from Izak "Bushman" Kahn that finishes it off leaving Sanyarae Thaweekarn trapped in the wreckage. Dani also receives some laser fire from "East" Ostsol that opens up their RA but nothing too major at the moment.

"Mace" continues to be pelted by LRM fire from "Rain Man" who is currently living up to his name. "Mumphrey" tries to take advantage of this missile barrage to close in but fails to connect any shots though he does manage to score a kick that makes the Orion nearly fall down.

Colonel Conrad Murgatroyd bored with what is going off in the East charges West to take a shot at the Marik Ostsol scoring a glancing hit to the CT. Mariks try to stop him but all miss him.

Bottom finally scores a hit with a PPC hit to "Mace" hitting the Orion in the CT. Before it can cheer they receive an LRM volley back from the Orion that leaves them nearly just as bad from the hit.

5 turns in and Minute Man still hasn't been shot at. So far so good.

Round 8 and things are really heating up.

Colonel Conrad Murgatroyd attempts to shoot up "Mace" Orion and scores some hits on it. Tired of the antics however of this annoying Mongoose "Mace" kicks the light mech that had strayed too close causing it to lose its RL and fall down, losing its RA in the process. When he is about to finish the Mongoose however a Wolverine runs over the hill and flies through the air at the Orion opening fire as it goes. "Mace" turns his Orion to shoot but it is too late, he only manages a laser hit before the head of his mech is kicked clean off by the Wolverine, killing him instantly! The Mariks nearby are stunned at what they saw and those who try to shoot the Wolverine down all miss.

In the West Dani Slater is in trouble. The rest of the Andurien forces have rushed on to concentrate on the Ostsol and she is suffering for it. Her Vulcan is being torn apart by "Minute Man" and "Bushman", the former having done the most damage with his Phoenix Hawk having blown her RA and RL clean off making her Vulcan fall.

Mike 'East' Donna is not too happy about his situation having received weapons fire from an Andurien Stinger and Phoenix Hawk, he then has his LA blown off from an LRM volley from a Longbow that is closing in. The Marik Quickdraws appear to be moving to support but are focusing more on the Vulcan at the moment. His Ostsol takes a glancing blow to the head from the Stinger which annoys him further only to start laughing when the Stinger then tries to kick him and falls down.

"Fumbles" spots the Longbow advancing forward and while the Crusader is busy trying to hit the Marik Phoenix Hawk but failing, he tries to kick the Longbow in the ass. He sadly misses his kick.

Meanwhile Pilth Zabur thinks its a good idea for their Griffin to get into a gun fight with Getti Outheah's Stalker and surprisingly comes up better from the exchange finally manage to land some hits with their weapons.

Round 9 and things continue to get worse for the Mariks.

When firing a shot trying to finish off the Vulcan, Izak "Bushman" Kahn's Wasp receives an AC/20 enema as Shanta "Mosquito Bites" Deva's Hunchback appears over the hill and lands a shot that manages to detonate his ammo, causing "Bushman" to go flying through the air in an ejector seat. This leaves "Minute Man" to continue trying to carve up the Vulcan solo.

"Fumbles" sees the Crusader run up towards him, threatening to turn his Spider into a pancake between itself and the Longbow and nopes out, jumping away to safety. He does manage a cheeky shot on the downed Vulcan when he lands.

Colonel Conrad Murgatroyd's luck finally runs out. His Mongoose is finally disabled permanently but it takes the concentrated fire of both Quickdraws to put him down. Generic Soldierman is the one who claims the kill, likely to the annoyance Tito Vulovic whose Quickdraw had been subject to the most harassment of this Mongoose.

Mike 'East' Donna keeps having his Ostsol shot up, especially by that annoying Phoenix Hawk. In a fit of rage he punches the Andurien Phoenix Hawk in the head which strips the armor off and leaves Chester Lee unconscious!

Having successfully beaten the Stalker in a gunnery duel, Pilth Zabur decides that shooting is for pussies and decides to close his Griffin into melee range of the Stalker. It goes about as well as you would expect. The close range barrage cripples his Griffin throwing it to the ground with the next volley likely to finish him off. "Grody" tries to provide assistance and does score several hits but is likely also facepalming right now. "Mumphrey" sensing another opportunity for a kill moves his Wolverine in to support Getti's Stalker.

"Rain Man" continues to unload LRM's at any target of opportunity successfully while Bottom continues to miss.

Pilth Zabur tries to get his Griffin upright but ends up falling over knocking themselves unconscious. This leaves them spitroasted between an Andurien Stalker and Wolverine but surprisingly its an LRM volley from Cassie Riggs's Crusader that finishes his mech off. Getti Outheah though is the one who claims the kill by unloading into the downed mech and an SRM volley kills the unconscious pilot. Bottom fails to steal this kill despite attempting to.

Dylan "Minute Man" Zephyr finishes off the Canopian Vulcan causing its ammo to detonate. As Dani Slater flies through the air from the auto eject they hit a tree and break their neck, dying instantly. "Minute Man" narrowly avoids an AC/20 shot from "Hardhead" and could have gone out the same way as "Bushman" did.

Meanwhile Chester Lee has woken up but their mech is being torn to bits from underneath them. Both Quickdraws are ganging up on her Phoenix Hawk.

Sensing another golden opportunity "Fumbles" manages to kick the Longbow in the ass successfully this time.

Round 11 and seeing that the Canopian Hunchback was coming for him, "Minute Man" decides to jump evade its fire only to land into a bog surrounded by Anduriens and get stuck. Determined to not go down without a fight, he manages to open up the CT of the Wolverine before an LRM volley from "Rain Man" to open up his LT and a kick from "Mumphrey" to send his mech falling down.

Chester Lee meanwhile manages to get her mech upright only to find her Phoenix Hawk surrounded by Mariks and get blasted back down to the ground again.

Round 12 and the Marik bully finishes off Chester Lee. Tito Vulovic claims the kill by detonating the ammo, sending the Andurien pilot ejecting. Chester Lee manages to land safely.

This isn't a clean kill though for the Mariks. Mike 'East' Donna Ostsol goes crashing to the ground as he receives combined missile fire from "Rain Man" and Cassie Riggs that cripples his mech. Elsewhere "Minute Man" is in trouble having his LL blown off by "Mosquito Bites" and other Anduriens closing in for the kill with especially the Stalker hovering over his rear torso. "Grody" tries to assist him with his Shadow Hawk but is unable to land a shot.

Meanwhile Anon finally shows up and tries to kill Bottom. No success.

Round 13 and RIP "Minute Man"

While "Hardhead" basically destroys the Marik Phoenix Hawk it is Bottom who runs in to steal the kill, finishing him off with a headshot that kills the pilot. In a twist of fate in their eagerness to finish off "Minute Man" both "Mumphrey" and Glemmy Zala get their mechs stuck in bogs.

Mariks try to reform to take on the Crusader but are virtually unable to score a hit at point blank. Cassie Riggs instead inflicts further damage onto the Ostsol and stands firm.

Overall unless some lucky crits or headshots happen its over for the Mariks at this stage but they keep fighting on.

Round 14 and Anduriens are closing into brawling distance. More Mariks are going down.

First to fall is Mike 'East' Donna. His Ostsol receives critical damage with the finishing blow attributed to Cassie Riggs. He is trapped under the wreckage of his mech.

"Fumbles" tries to stop the Canopian Hunchback advancing and tries to kick it to stop it going past. Instead his Spider falls on its ass. Whether in confusion or laugher, "Mosquito Bites" misses their target which likely saved the life of "East"

The only success here for the Mariks is Generic Soldierman managing to cripple the Wolverine of "Mumphrey" which causes it to fall but is not enough to outright kill it.

No kills but a few near misses.

"Mumphrey" very nearly has his head blown off by a shot from Generic Soldierman. It doesn't kill him but his Wolverine has lost its life support.

Tito Vulovic takes a critical hit to his engine from a PPC by Bottom.

Tito Vulovic narrowly avoids having his entire CT blown off from an AC/20 hit from "Mosquito Bites" Hunchback.

Generic Soldierman is crippled by "Mumphrey" and Bottom. He is only saved when Anon shows up over the hill and blows up the CT off the Wolverine with an AC/10 shot from his Orion. Bottom does inflict a bunch more damage with a kick though severely damaging the Quickdraw which is now at 14 heat.

Cassie Riggs manages to fall down and hit her Crusaders head off a rock, destroying her mechs head and killing her.

"Mosquito Bites" claims a third kill when her AC/20 detonates the ammo in the Shadow Hawk. "Grody" does eject but dies in a rough landing.

The 27T seems extremely simple, so I'm not sure what your question is really asking. Shoot the PPCs in a heat neutral pattern (2-1-2) and use SRMs if you're close enough and crit seeking.

Well not every mech is as straightforward as it might initially seem.

Take the Axeman, it has a giant fuck-off axe; hell, it’s the mech’s namesake! So one might be forgiven for thinking that the best strategy for using an Axeman is to run up and bonk people with its titular axe. But that would be incorrect, with the better strategy being to lean into its ranged weapons and only bonk when/if the opportunity arises.

The HTM-27T did seem straightforward enough, but I just wanted to verify that.

Archibald "Rain Man" Rathars was very consistent providing LRM support as and when needed.
Colonel Conrad Murgatroyd confused the shit out of Marik lines with his Mongoose antics. Doubt Anduriens would have had success they had without the confusion it caused.

Izak "Bushman" Kah and Dylan "Minute Man" Zephyr worked insanely well together and did cause a fair bit of trouble for the Anduriens.

I managed to get some more mechs painted for my Davion and Kurita forces. Very much looking forward to learning how to play with my brother when he gets here. Hopefully we'll even manage to get in a company strength game with some cardboard punchouts but we'll see. Anyway, I'm enjoying learning how to paint but its not easy. I struggle with fine detail work, stripes, hard to reach places. I admire most of what I see posted here. That Nazi is one hell of a painter thats for sure. I'll try to post a battle report once we get our first lance vs lance game in.

I've decided to name my Davion force the Davion Guard Special Operations Group (DGSOG) as a reference to MACVSOG. The Kuritan forces are the 2nd Sword of Light's Jin-Roh Assault Panzers (JAP). I know some of these mechs aren't favored by the factions I've painted them as. My headcanon is that the FedSuns received some Griffins as part of the FedCom accords, and the DCMS purchased some Vindicators through a trade deal attached to the Treaty of Kapteyn. Any other inconsistencies I chalk up to salvage. Thanks for reading my bullshit and thanks for any feedback on my painting.

Lore question: how hot is it supposed to be inside a mech cockpit outside of combat lore wise? I once heard that even cool running mechs get hot because of the engine after a few hours, just not as much as when you start firing your guns but couldn't find a source of that. Thats not how it works. Mechs run on fusion reactors, the heat isn't from some "engine" warming shit up around it, the heat comes from the literal massive amounts of energy used to generate ungodly hot particle beams, which gets drawn through the mech.
Same for traditional weapons, as traditional ordinance literally explodes, and everyone knows how guns work, it heats up.

These are fusion reactors, fusion reactors do not work by boiling water, like fission reactors do, fusion reactors work through direct neutron to electron energy transfer.
Btw we can already do it irl, there are means to convert neutron radiation and beta rad directly into useable electricity.

It seems super thin and runny now, so while before I could just drybrush it over a gray basecoat, paint the purple parts, and go back to fix any spillover, now I need multiple coats and fixing things is hard since it flows into the purple parts really easily.
