Hi everyone! I'm planning to 3d print a couple of 1000 points space marines armies, entirely made of firstborns (for 2 reasons: I'm a grog and I like the simplicity and flexibilty of the tactical squad), starting with ultramarines (I like the roman aesthetic).
I came up with some help with this list, what do you think could be made better? Consider that the project is mostly made as a modeling and painting project, about games I just want the list to be fun to play with

Firstborn Ultramarines – 1000 Points
Detachment: Gladius Task Force
Chapter: Ultramarines

HQ
Captain in Terminator Armour β€” 100 pts
Storm Bolter + Power Fist

Troops
Tactical Squad (10) β€” 180 pts
Sergeant: Combi-Plasma + Power Sword
1x Plasma Gun
1x Lascannon
7x Boltgun Marines

Tactical Squad (10) β€” 180 pts
Sergeant: Combi-Melta + Power Fist
1 x Meltagun
1x Missile Launcher
7x Boltgun Marines

Elites
Terminator Squad (5) β€” 200 pts
4x Storm Bolters + Power Fists
1x Assault Cannon

Venerable Dreadnought β€” 150 pts
Twin Lascannon + Missile Launcher
(Or Assault Cannon + Dreadnought CCW? Idk)

Heavy Support
Devastator Squad (5) β€” 140 pts
4x Heavy Weapons: 2x Lascannons + 2x Missile Launchers
Sergeant: Signum

Fast Attack
Land Speeder Typhoon β€” 140 pts
Typhoon Missile Launcher + Heavy Bolter

Total: ~990 pts

Space Wolves because I was playing Skyrim and find the vikings aesthetic cool.
But then I found out they're more wolves than vikings after 2000 pts of an army painted up so I moved to Custodes when they got released because I like the tiny ornate details on the armors.
Now I'm on Black Templars because Sword Brethren and Emperor's Champion models hits hard.

I'm not saying to make it an oversized piece of shit like the primaris dreads
Give it something between a .25/.5 size increase so it's more in line with marine sizes. Same thing applies for rhinos and it's variants. All old shit should get resized, faithfully resigned for modern manufacturing and shipped as is.

Death Guard.
The horror stories of these guys being plague-ridden hulks of rusted metal and undying spite really cemented these as the 40k faction I'd start off with. Even just browsing their models for the first time, I loved how they looked with their evil-looking tubes and vents sprouting from their bodies. I've got way more Ork than DG models at the moment, but considering how they got me into kitbashing and painting hordes of models (painting 30 combat patrol poxwalkers is a hell of an intro to the hobby), I couldn't have asked for a better army to start off with.

Which doesn't mean shit here, you dumb lorelet. Every suit of power armour is bespoke hand-crafted by a Techmarine, every Techmarine has their own quirks and designs, and old suits from thousands of years ago are refurbished or cannibalized for parts and recombined with other bespoke parts over the course of millennia, so that every marine ends up with something distinct as battle damage and repairs accrues.

Marines were never supposed to be uniform.
They are super specialist monastic warriors with a ton of elder worship and devotion, either religious or secular to the emperor, armour is personal and also a relic of the past to be cherished and made personal while respecting the former owners. Bland mkx armour is shit and doesn't understand marines.

Chapters have in-house maintenance and production of some of their armaments, but having everything made by them is more a thing of specific chapters, requiring mechanicus alignment.
Most get replacements when they need them and maintain their own stuff.

they wear the same armor. In the old kits you had 5 chests or so with Eagle the other one had a cross and so on. Different shoulder pads, the lower part had some with knee pads other without some had studs and so on. You had helmets with grills then beakies. In the new kits the armor stays the same uniform. Helmets stay the same. Intercessors style, gravis style, the spandex looking shit like.

The new primaris kits look by far more uniform then the old kits. You dont have that with stern guard and blade guard that is good but in the basic troop choices it is prevalent.

It's just the ballistus that is weird, Ballistus would look much better if they made the twin-lascannon arm mounted like the plasma is on redemptor and then put the rocket pod just on top of the dreadnought and then made the 2nd arm into a twin-heavy bolter or a twin-assault cannon.

It's not happening no matter how many times you retards doompost about this. It's been like 10 fucking years. Age of Sigmar's initial launch was a horrific failure. They got back on track for awhile, and then 4th edition has been another failure. They are not looking to replicate any AoS shit with 40k at this point. It's the experimental guinea pig they use to try shit out before risking their cash cow that is 40k, and everything they've tried with AoS has been a disaster at worst and marginally tolerable by the fans at best.

They are not going to end the 40k setting and restart it.

They are not going to add endless spells to 40k.

They are not going to squish 40k factions into that "ORDER CHAOS DEATH DESTRUCTION" cringe.

They are not going to dumb the rules down further.

All of these things have been failures.

The Old Ones denied immortality to the Necrontyr Empire because it was a violent expansionist society obsessed with death which was on the verge of breaking apart and undergoing a significant reformation. The whole reason they waged war but didn't wipe out the Necrontyr wholesale was to humble them and give time for the Necrontyr society to undergo that reform, deposing their falsely ordained 'god-kings' to create a more peaceful Empire who would use Immortality for the benefit of the galaxy, rather than just for themselves.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the C'tan, the Old Ones couldn't foresee the divergent path that the Silent King would turn to in desperation to keep his power by way of damning not just his race, but the entire galaxy.
The Old Ones basically told the Necrontyr rulers to stop being colossal asshats, and the response was "Fuck you, now everyone will suffer".

So I will say 'binary/tri sun solar system' 'solar system with an abscent sun', 'solar system with a blackhole instead of a sun' and so on to describe all configurations of solar systems. Even if the eldar were not a bunch of degenerates until the war ended that change the fact that the war in heaven lore is incredibly retarded. There was no reason for the Old Ones to make 2 new races that will come to dominate the galaxy just to fight the one race that is doing the same and would be much less of a bunch of assholes if they just got to live longer
The Necron lore is also pretty retarded tho. With how ridiculous their technology is it makes not sense that they couldn't boost their own lifespans. The star of your original planet being highly radioactive shouldn't be an issue when you are a galaxy spanning empire to begin with

This part is true, but the problem is, if you change things to pander to idiots who can't use correct terminology, that's basically retarded cuckoldry. Like when President Bush couldn't say the word "nuclear", he kept saying it like "nuke-ular", so the dictionary writers cucked out and added "nucular" as an alternative spelling/pronunciation. The explanation after the retcon was that the after extinguishing the old ones and sharding the ctan, the necrons had expended too much power and couldn't hope to win against the now ascendant eldar, so they went to sleep with the assurance that they could simply wait for the eldar to die out eventually.

It assumes that
>the sleeping necrons tomb worlds couldn't be reliably found by the eldar
>the necrons could predict, more or less a few millennia, when the eldar would fall, 60 millions years ahead of it OR had systems or people tasked to keep watch over the eldar and start the awakening as soon as they detected the fall of the eldar
>whatever the necrons lost during the fight against the old ones and ctan couldn't be rebuilt (in the case of the ctan, it could be the power and infrastructures relying on the ctan themselves) OR even the necrons at their peak had no hope of facing the ascendant eldar

I don't like it, there's no sense of doom because there's no ticking clock, it's not like "they were rebuilding their forces and needed 60 million years for it" (dumb timeframe to begin with), it's passive and reactive instead of giving them a reason with an agency like the previous story did.

It's not and it's been established fact for decades that the Imperium is slowly killing humanity and it will inevitably go extinct because of it.
The reason why Chaos is so abundant and so powerful in the modern times is all entirely and DIRECTLY because of the Imperium and the Emperor fucking up.
Emperor because he thought could cheat omnipotent and omniscient daemon assholes and get away with it.
And the Imperium because all of the blatant unnecessary suffering and cruelty it flays humanity alive with, nevermind the horrid living conditions and the abject misery and slavery that is human existance in the Imperium.
Do nothing but drive Imperium's own citizens towards Chaos because people would rather chance it with literal tumorous cancer demons from hell than live 1 more second within the Imperium and under its oppression.

Imperium creates it's own problems and is much of a problem than anything else.
It being the "last bastion of humanity" means nothing when it is objectively killing humanity along with it.

This is unironic fanfiction and not even remotely true. Belief in the Emperor doesn't give any sort of after life.

Wrong. 10,000 years of faity has orainded that the Emperor stands above all others and his power surpasses that ofbthe Chaos Gods. As for proxying. I am working on a proxy guard army and I'm worried that without a paper with images printed correlating to what the proxies are that people are going to refuse games or even with the papers pretend to be dumb deliberately.

That never made any sense because all space marines, or at least most, have contracts and agreements with mechanicus forgeworld to supply them with regular war material.
And this also includes power armor as well. It'd be very inefficient and dumb for mechanicus to make like 10 full set of 3 different armor patterns when they can and would just make 30 armors of 1 pattern.
Also marines have forges where they can spare parts and pieces for their armors so making hodge podge of armor combinations makes no sense.
Nevermind the fact it is canon in the fluff that trying to "marry" 2 or more different power armor patters into one suit rarely works because the machine spirits don't like melding together at all.

Forgeworlds are also busy supplying other chapters and the nigh infinite armies of other imperium organizations+their own gear. Certain chapters also prefer certain armor marks like how raven guard like the corvus armor marks and artificer armor is a thing so yes space marines combine armor marks because even making 1 suit of powered armor is a difficult task and you have to arm 1000 marines.

Theres not also not always replacements at the ready.

And I only have these 3 left as "small" ones. 96 I have to use but its damaged. 46 is necessary for the last model in the kit, adn the one at the bottom has a big hole if I were to put it on this model.

Unthinned contrast will be a stronger black so if you want it pronounced go with that. You could just get an enamel panel liner or make an oil wash yourself. A lot more comfortable to work with than applying contrast/wash by brush directly into the panel lines

This is true. A large portion of the imperium, including a large portion of those in power, are cunts. But because a large portion of the imperium is also just regular Joe's who want to survive, they're still the protagonists and still the faction we root for, despite the fact that they're not squeaky clean good guys.

There are lots of good guys within the imperium, which is something the drimderpers like to forget. The organization as a whole is brutal and inhuman and carious other negative traits, but what you're fighting for is the average Joe who just wants to raise a family, just like real life.

>>95978933
>>95979011
This is only half true. The reason the imperium is brutal to it's own citizens is because of how chaos attacks them. It tries to lie to them and seduce them, and if you are lenient on your enemies, chaos takes advantage by slithering into the space you leave it through your leniency. The imperium has taken lessons from how chaos attacks it, and their treatment of people is a response. Trying to put the chicken before the egg by claiming chaos thrives due to how the imperium acts is backwards. Chaos is the original aggressor that started the imperium down this path and the imperium is the way it is because of chaos.
