TQ: How has Universes Beyond impacted the landscape of your LGS?
I'll go first. Lot of UB sloppas that only play UB decks, and some who even only play UB prints of cards. I don't think this shit bodes well for the future of the game honestly. What will they do when the UB slop isn't to their taste?
>>96029146 (OP)>TQ: How has Universes Beyond impacted the landscape of your LGS?lots of new casual players, it's great. Everyone else has carried on like normal

Lots of people have 1 or 2 UB decks, I'm probably the only person who mains one right now with Golbez. Golbez will probably take a back seat once I have Rakdos Dragons just because it will be lower power and more friendly.

I recently started including a package of goblins in all of my decks. Matron, Cratermaker, Treasure Nabber, Shusher, Engineer, Murdurous Redcap, Chirurgeon, Settler and more. They're not the always the best options but they're reliable. Just about the only thing goblins can't help against is enchantments. But there are a few changelings that can and, being technically goblins, Matron can tutor them. Whenever building a deck you should always ask the question, "what can goblins do for my deck?" You'd be surprised what a small goblin package can offer a deck.
i just remembered plane chase exists

It just means a pile of 99 cards that stand on their own merit and don't necessarily synergize with your commander or require that it be in play to be functional. I can't be the only one that thinks that surge foiling is incredibly overrated, right?
When I compare two cards, one of which is a regular foil and one of which is a surge, I can hardly notice any difference. The difference is even muted further if you use a sleeve, and even further after that if you double sleeve.
Meanwhile I keep observing that the search foil sell for sometimes five times the amount of a regular foil. Personally I would just as soon have a regular or even have a non foil card because the non foil cards never Pringle or bend. Feels good to save money

Whether that's better or worse for Catholic LARPing depends on your perspective I guess.
I don't really play MTG much, but I won yesterday in a 6-player commander using mostly the FF14 precon deck (with a few creatures swapped out for other FF singles like Venat, Zenos and Summon Bahamut and a few artifacts swapped out for better ones that trigger Y'shtola's abilities). The two people with the sweatiest decks killed each other off the bat and one guy with an Oloro Ageless Ascetic deck kept losing all his shit to exiles and boardwipes as well as getting his approach of the second sun milled out and despite have 120-something life died to 21 commander damage. Guy with the goblin deck folded because he was so tired of getting board wiped and it was just me swinging at someone with a goblin deck with a bunch of shit that had flying and Hydaelyn was giving Y'shtola indestructible as well as life link from dancer's chakrams. The match took like 3 hours because of all the board wipes
>>96030401I would recommend a BW conquistador vamp from Ixalan, since they are literally spanish conquistadors and that's awesome. Carmen is the strongest, but new Elanda has Saint in her name. That's if you want to do intentionally Catholic themed stuff, which unfortunately is mostly "le spooky evil church" because wotc is a bunch of Seattle commies.
You could do a more generic medieval Christian aesthetic with W cards, or be more victorian protestant with Innistrad cards. Regardless you have to run Crusade. Just don't run Cathar's Crusade because the Catholic Church waged a war against those gnostic heretics.

Not interested in saying in case someone from LGS posts here. Also I've played this game before with other commanders and people have told me how big a threat my commander is, even when I post decklist to prove it's bracket 2 at best, and that I spent 3 turns with nothing in land in hand. People just want to be contrarians and I don't care to engage.
Explain this card to me like I'm new and retarded because I'm both. So if this gets played, I reveal like a 3 cost card and then one guy reveals his and it's like a land, one reveals a 2 cost card and the last dude reveals a 4 cost card, I can play my card, the land card and the 2 cost card for free during my turn, but the 4 cost just stays with the other player, is that right? That seems pretty fun
>>96033461I can't believe valve is working with hasbro to sell more copies of ff4
>>96033552Triple Triad only exiles cards during the upkeep of the player who owns Triple Triad.
Only the player who owns Triple Triad gets the chance to play cards exiled by Triple Triad.
And in your example the 4 cost card would not "stay with the other player", it would stay exiled.
>>96033552At the beginning of your upkeep, each player exiles the top card of their library. The other players never get those cards, they're exiled.
You can play the card you own this way until end of turn, like a normal 'impulse draw'.
Also, if one of the other players' cards was lower CMC than yours, you can play it.
So your example is correct, depending on what you mean by 'stays with' the other player. General rules are also if you cast an instant or sorcery it goes into its owner's graveyard.

How about instead we talk about any upcoming commanders we wanna build? old or new. What's your next deck, or what do you want to build but don't know exactly how?

>>96034031me FIRST (with benis)
>>96034021Traveling Minstrel is interesting because you can at least make Towns and other taplands a lot better, effectively letting you build a budget landbase in 5cmc, but also makes Triomes into untapped Trilands, the big brother of OG Duals.
>>96034082it's not about being the best
it's about who has the most fun
>>96034108Yeah I could definitely make him stronger with better lands but fuck spending all that money and I donโt want to proxy just to meta game. My land base is literally every Town, command tower, exotic orchard and a handful of basics and I think thatโs fine.
>>96033811Been eyeballing these two. Human tribal has some really busted support and I'm looking at using bulk cards with human cuties in the art just to trigger the effect since that's mainly what matters.

It can close games with a classic Insurrection or a giant X-Spell.
is any green (or containing green) commander that cares a lot about artifacts?
i pulled that "create 3 tapped powerstone tokens" card and just have an urge to put it into a deck where it'd be useful

>>96034202That makes sense to me, I assume it's more of a lower power/mid power affair? I assume you run general Act of Treason-type effects?

>>96034380That sounds fucking based, honestly. It's exactly what I was looking to get out of a Golgari deck, and why I originally was gonna do Slimefoot, but I love the idea of Savra since she doesn't look as scary and isn't a combo piece in the command zone.
>>96034386Good luck, man! Sarinth Greatwurm is good for her as well since all lands produce you a ton of tokens

>>96034609Yeah, that makes sense. She works as a payoff without needing to always be out, and given it's golgari, reanimating her is easy as pie. I wanna include Lifeline I think just so I can play a creature like Accursed Marauder, kill something on every board, then at end step they all come back and then die again, then do it on the next end step, etc forever. An ever-expanding spiral of death and rebirth with ETBs and drain just shitting the game up lmao

I don't get the fucking obsession of reprinting something that exists but making it slightly different. There's a soup of key words that are just marginally different, it's confusing and it's wasted design space when they could just print more of mechanics that people liked before.
Like for example why the fuck did we need Omens when we had Adventures?
>it's the exact same mechanic but it goes to deck instead of to exile!!>okay but why?>because different!>but doesn't that make it less interactive? there's far fewer pay offs for shuffling into library than for casting from exile>different!I hate it so fucking much.

Imagine a modern released set where they excluded an entire card type like Enchantments, Sorceries, or Instants (this is obviously divergent from the few times they tried with those types of limitations before) and even making Sieges in Tarkir and not making them battles that flip into the enchantments or something. They straight up don't know what to do with them and it was an awful idea to make a new card type with so little forethought. The couple that I like, I really like, but most are pretty much nothing.
>>96035235That would be the same for wrath or other destroy all creatures too.

>>96035243There's going to be a few uncommon stations with low station costs and very good effects that are busted as fuck, calling it now. >>96035324>Battles will probably get support in the Marvel sets, methinks, iconic comic stories will probably be SagasAt least it's something, but they feel so hesitant to do it. Tarkir's modal sieges should've been battles that when they flip, you choose your thing exactly the same way. Give them an ETB that you choose based on sides, and boom you've got a new batch of this extremely underrepresented card type.
>>96035284Not really most of the revealed cards dont look very overbearing at all
>>96035349The entire point of the modal sieges was the callback to FRF.
>>96035235Yep. Indestructible and hexproof are becoming increasingly irrelevant. Wipes are sacrificing and-/- and exiling. Only phasing is good protection anymore. Can't wait until Wizards over corrects like they always do and starts introducing numerous Teferi's P at 2 mana and has to introduce super duper exile which gets through phasing.
>>96035139No, because your opponent gets to choose. Whatever outcome is most beneficial for you isn't going to happen unless your opponent is a crayon eating retard. Milling at the end of your turn leaves your cards open to interaction from things like Bokuja Bog. And again, the damage is negligible. Especially when you can only target a single player once each turn with a random amount of damage.
It's a fun card but there are more reliable options.
>>96035358You can do both
>Modal enchantments on the backside>Break it as a battle on the front sideStill references the Khans/Dragons sieges but actually uses the new thing they bothered to make that so far only have the Siege subtype too.
>>96035378>And again, the damage is negligibleSometimes, but even two cards can be 14+ damage if you find the right stuff on top.
Heads I win, tails you lose
Battles flopped because people didnt understand the mechanic, not because they're too difficult to get off like space stations
>>96035243Reminds me of Level Up where itโs like โhey spend a bunch of mana to make this creature not trashโ but instead its โspend multiple turns not just attacking and leaving no blockers up to juice this thing that will get removed right before it pops off.
