I think charges are fine, they're more consistent and the removal of sweeping advance is a god send, because it was bullshit you could just sweep the enemy after bad combat round, now instead you can either gun them down or charge them again, which makes a lot more sense.
Challenges are more of a skub topic,besides If you don't want to do them, there's nothing stopping you.
Also you can charge out of rhinos and stuff,but you get disordered charges
Statuses are good, especially because they split characteristics, with fearless and stubborn being gone and replaced with really high stats, so you can still break really resilient troops If you apply ungodly amount of pressure on them

Sweep was overpowered, but now we have:
- Unfailable charge via set-up move (this is good)
- Volley fire (This is bad - slows things down and benefits shooting over melee. Also, as has been pointed out, can fuck the charge if it goes well)
- Combat itself, largely unchanged
- Gun them down (Nice thematically, but is now the alternative to sweep but once again benefits shooting over melee. Why is melee being turned into shooting?)
- Pursue (Solid, but really just keeps a fight going/self-tarpitting)

Eternal warrior decreases damage taken by that amount but each melta does 6 damage at melta range, so even with the decrease you can still pretty much kill any primarch with a bit of luck, unless they show one that has 9 wounds

Tyrant krak missiles got an enormous downgrade. Going from Heavy 2 to D2 means you're killing three MEQ a turn, down from seven. Or zero terminators a turn, down from one. Gaining a point of strength is meaningless, it's just the old LA trait except now it's baked in.

I'm really annoyed by the lack of options on the Warsmith (and many other things). The new model isn't the greatest, so I had no interest in using it and planned on kitbashing my own using the Saturnine guy, assuming that 'Warsmith' would still be an upgrade, not a separate profile. I miss Alan Bligh. I didn't think it was possible to miss someone I never met, but I remember following his blog and keeping up with everything he worked on because it was all stellar. He's been gone for a while, but we get further and further away from his foundation.
As a sidenote, I want to play his Mordheim campaign that was shown off after he died by ADB, or was it French? I don't remember now.

8 * 1/6(chance to crit) * 1/2(invuln) * 2(d1 becomes damage 2) = 1.3 wounds caused
Normals:
8 * 1/2(chance for normal hit) * 2/3 (s6 vs t5) * 1/2(invuln) = 1.3(3333...) wounds caused.
So overall he does around 2.6 wounds to cata terminators (meaning rounding up to 2 is quite generous but lets do it).
He gets fisted.

The hereticus list is for the "full demons" army list, think back to the variant list EC got when fulgrims demon model came out. That list gets the variant trait, the nails bite. It also gets a different reaction, detachment and reaction.
The regular list gets the normal +1A trait, it also has its own gambit, reaction and detachment.
The hereticus list is traitor locked. The regular list is available to both loyalists and traitors.

Honestly with some notable exceptions this edition looks fairly well balanced. Weapons are pretty in line without clear "this is stupid bullshit and if you dont have it youre screwed", gambits are pretty balanced and fun all round (some are stronger than others, but nothing insano). The special units are mostly more in line with each other.
Shame it cost all the fucking vanilla options.

Same legion trait as 2.0 except the Heavy weapons stuff only kicks in if they didn't move more than 4 inches now and vehicles don't benefit from it anymore (that means they have to deal with the difficult terrain stuff. Except that heavy weapons don't get penalties for moving anymore so half the Legion trait is largely useless. Not only are Destroyers gone, but so are Mortus Poisoners, so the Legion all about Chem-Warfare and Destroyers don't have Destroyer options. Alchem flamers got ripped out. Death Cloud Projectors on Grave Wardens are now just a rule for a little bit of extra damage in melee. Death Shroud have 2 wounds and the same toughness as other termies, but they do have Eternal Warrior 1.
