>>96065201>well akshullayYou're not thinking about this right.
Thing's aren't canon until a writer makes it so. It's the fucking writers. The anecdotal part of my post was that "A writer can do this". They don't follow the rules per se. They do what they fucking want when allowed.
GO AFTER THE WRITER not the GENRE or COMPANY.... its the WRITER
Name drop them ffs.

>>96065226In GW's case it *is* their fault, all books not written directly by them are considered non-canon until they say otherwise and they reserve the sole right to point to a book and declare that the work is or is not a part of the greater whole, even their own. Especially their own. It's a losing battle to ever care about the details because it won't matter in the end, and GW will keep it that way so they can play fast and loose with their IP to always be able to chase new markets
>>96065226Not that anon, but GW doesnโt credit the author of the codexโs lore, and the last time they did it was Matt Ward, who left the company because people in fact were shitting on him that much. Iโm not brushed up on my Necron lore, but if itโs still in the books the only one to blame would be James Workshop.
>>96065292I wanted gold armor sisters and GW made the "gold armor" order like ten times cooler than any lore i would be allowed to come up with. People would call it dumb as shit if I tried making it myself.

who are only a warband because that's how Lexicanum decided to interpret the flavor text of picrel. Could simply be his nickname.
I just wanted green and silver CSM but didn't want the ebin ninja version of AL. Some anon gave me the idea.
I also play them as Tzeentch-aligned because I have always liked Tzeentch but I think TS look kinda ass. The idea of god-specific CSM warband is just appealing.
Lexicanum lists them as Undivided on this page
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Chaos_Space_Marine_Legions_and_Warbands_(List)
but they have no source for that so I'm not sure where it came from.

I've been a long time Warhammer fan, but today I finally broke down and decided to actually build a full army. I love the insane religious zealotry aspect of the setting, so a Sororitas Penitent Host army seemed like the move.
I bought the Penitent Host box set. How should I build it to get a 500pt army I can start playing with?
>>96065605You're massively coping.
This is the same as people who said "oh, they have to get rid of the double turn when they update toi AoS 3.0, look at all the hoops they've had to jump through to make it work, and everyone hates it."
Or like all the current malding in the HH general
"Oh, there's no way GW would ever box-lock loadouts for heresy, they know that the customisation is one of the things people love about the game compared to 40k".

They have a bunch of plant-related tortures, like having someone's innards turn to thorns or bamboo shoots that twist and break their bodies as they continue to grow, and these quickly rot away after death.
One of the longest tortures involves a slave undergo a metamorphosis that turns its central nervous system in thick, plant-like vines. As the rest of the flesh sloughs off, the brain and CNC remain in a state of utmost torment - the highest quality meal for a Drukhari.
The Kabal of the Ephemeral Bloom makes up for quantity of slaves with quality of torment.
Or at least, that's what my plans are. I'm not sure I have it in me to wrap all the already-pointy boats in vines.

Are there general guidelines for recommendations, like if I like simple fast aggressive big numbers type gameplay I should look at these armies but if I like controlly more abstract technical gameplay I should look at those armies?
>>96065292 (1/2)
>Tell me about yourdudes, the got a unique name and color scheme or are they an existing army with your own spin on it?My CSM are a renegade chapter based slightly on the written works of Edgar Allen Poe thematically and with a few names. They are a continuation of my 3e CSM army from when I started 40k, but with stuff I could not afford back in the day like tanks. Everyone has a rhino, the boss and his bodyguard have a Land Raider and there are a pair of Predator tanks and a dozen bikers as well. Just need to get an old, metal Chaos Dread and they will be set.
My Necrons are also almost entirely classic green rod types and the few that are not are in the process of having their gauss weapons modded to have the transparent green rods in them. Fluff-wise, my Lord woke to find his tomb world settled by the Imperium. Instead of going to war and potentially having his holdings destroyed in extended war with the Imperium, he took over the colony by striking a deal with the governor and effectively turning the upper echelon of the local government his pawns/allies. The tithes and taxes are regular and no-one complains so the Imperium has no reason to investigate a productive and pious colony.
My Death Guard are a band of former loyalists who were trapped in the warp during a crusade and slowly corrupted and mutated until they voluntarily turned to worship of Nurgle. They were part of a sworn brotherhood with my CSM and the armies canonically lend each other support such as transports and troops when requested. They have an amusing gimmick that let me paint them up in a way that I had never seen Death Guard painted, so that makes me happy.
My Loyalist marines have a history dating back to the Heresy and mostly are content to do their part in the war to protect the Imperium. Nothing too fancy although they have a lot of corvidae jokes and bird references.

The Festering Basement is a depraved offshoot of the 7th Plague Company, once assigned to a forgotten agriworld to spread Nurgleโs bounties. Their original mission was to corrupt grain silos and rot all tendies supplies, but the unit (led by a particularly reclusive and malformed maggot captain named Gloxximus the Glued) got distracted.
You see, the planet had a strong ecclesiastical presence, and broadcasts from the local Adepta Sororitas convent often dominated the voxnet. Hymns, educational sermons and training holovids. HoloChapel Diaries: The Penance Logs. Battle Nun Idol! or Order of the Blushing Rose terranimation. Gloxximus became enamoured.
From their bunkers and basements, he and his warband began watching and collecting footage. Every image of a sisters' resolute glare, every sight of their glutes, every divine ASMR voice clip, it made their bloated, decaying kokoros go doki doki. Aishiteru... Canoness-tan...
What began as sick fascination evolved into twisted devotion. The Festering Basement believes the Sisters of Battle are sacred, divine creatures - but in the most warped incel way possible. They see them not as enemies, but as idealized brides, fiery, pure onee-chans who would โunderstandโ them if only they knew how lonely and devoted these basement boils are. They do not seek to kill sisters. No, no. That would be a waste. Instead, they desire to capture and "convert" them through prolonged exposure to Nurgle's blessings and feeding them pusmilk. Only then can the sisters become happy little plaguebrides. By the way, elf is fine too and a sisterbride with six boobs would be extra blessed and milky.
They are the perverts of pestilence that just want to blight and chill with the 3Ds that are properly PD. The waifu hunters of the Warp.
Tried a lightbox bought online.
It sucks ass. The best pic is pic rel but only because I put the box sideways so the light comes from the front of the mini. But then I'd just have a hole to take a pic from. Maybe I'll buy a led light to put it in front of the box.
Anyway, enjoy my Sword Brethren squad. Half of them will be for the july collage.
>>96065814I tried kintsugi armor on Marines once. It looked like a shitty attempt at marble pattern.
To make it look right I think you'd need to scribe the lines first and create actual depth like real cracks
>>96066328Why would those be painful as first armies? Are they expensive? Hard to play? Hard to paint?
You get to enter the Warp for one reason: To permamently injure, mentally, emotionally, or physically, a Chaos God. How do you do it, and to who? Know that immediately after you've done this, your will is ripped apart and the shreds fed into the Soul Raping Machine for all eternity.
>>96066443Nah my fridge's light is yellow ish. Also I wont empty it and risk the food because I want to spend an hour austistixally pose my squad.
>>96066389those three are all of the above, admech is notoriously expensive, GSC as well but not quite so bad, dark eldar are somewhat expensive but a lot of their units aren't even available for sale anymore so you have to buy proxies or secondhand so that can drive prices up, and all three of them are high model count armies that are very full of details, and their playstyles are trickier and don't perform as well as other armies even in the hands of experienced players
don't let that discount those factions if you want to try them out but definitely do as I suggested and buy a basic infantry with them and build/paint those if any of those are your choice before you go full into the deep end on them
>>96066389Drukhari: lot of pointy bits. Some kits are not available, resin only... hope you like kitbashing if you want grotesques. They rely on vehicles. Expensive. You need a lot of them, so if you want to immigrate to the Dark City, do so now and grab three combat patrols, while we still have our combat patrol with ravager and raider (or two raiders, if you already maxed your ravagers).
Good thing is: if you like kitbashing, this army has ton of spare bits and pieces. From box of venom, ravager, raider, you can get nice spare kabalite warriors. From Talos kit you can get enough spare parts to use on your grotesque kitbashes. The wyches, kabalites, reavers, hellions, all same size, so you can play with arms, heads... The models are sleek, edgy in the right way.

>>96065292>Malakim's Ante were a small strike team of Lamenters, sent off to the far reaches of the galaxy to reclaim lost wargear in hopes of bolstering the diminished armory of the chapter. While searching the edge of the Ghoul Star's they received a call from Baal claiming a massive Tyranid hivefleet was approaching the homeworld of the Blood Angels and that their assistance was required to help fend off the assault. Upon setting off through the warp for Baal they encountered a massive warp storm and became stranded for what felt like 100 days. Unbeknownst to them, this was the machinations set forth by the great Khorne Daemon Prince Cha'gath Akz'Hur, who continually cast teeming hordes of daemonic entities upon the castaway marines. During their time spent within the space between realities, a large portion of their forces became stricken with the curse carried by their progenitors, known as the Red Thirst and Black Rage. Large portions of the strike team were lost to the infighting, and those that survived carried with them a great shame left from delivering the Emperors Peace to their former brethren. Those that carried the burden of felling the most of their kin became known as The Benevolent, and began to paint their armour in colours of mourning, as a means of recognizing the great sin they had committed. Eventually the warp entity seemed to grow tired of toying with the marines and spat them out into the orbit of Baal where they could witness the true destruction that befell the once great homeworld. Stricken with the grief of losing their brothers, the shame of failing to aid the Blood Angels in time, they set out on the galaxy with a new quest. One of hatred. One of revenge. To seek out the dark forces that tore their family asunder, they now patrol the edge of the Great Rift stalking whatever occult evils that unfortunately find themselves in their path. They're themed around playing cards and I've got a different scheme for each of the suits.

Would it not be more efficient for Tyranids to use bio milking machines to extract semen from males, than to use women as living seed beds?
See, there was an excerpt from a book (I think) where a charecter discovers women used as wombs for tyranids. And that got me thinking: there are over a hundred thousand eggs in a womans ovaries yes. But there are MILLIONS of sperm inside the average male. So, if Tyranids wanted to make millions of Tyranid human hybrids, they'd logically use bio milkers rather than ovipositors.
I hope im making sense here. Just so we're clear, I get it, its hot. I just dont think its in charecter for the Tyranids

>"More than half of the women were fixed to the strange organic walls of the chamber by a mix of chitin plates and thick strands of a sticky substance like some kind of tough mucus. The others were half enclosed in equally disgusting organic mounds dotted about the cavern floor. Pools of pungent yellow-brown liquid bubbled and steamed near them. Ropes of semi-translucent flesh fed or withdrew fluids from their bodies, snaking into their noses and mouths. Gratefully, Karras saw that the women's lower bodies were fully encased, though their grossly distended bellies were exposed to the hot, humid air. He had no doubt there were similar organic catheters beneath the chitin, responsible for Throne-knew-what. Those bellies were so stretched by the xeno organisms growing within that the skin had become as translucent as the looping coils of strange umbilici. In some, the Death Spectre could see jostling clusters of embryonic aliens vying with each other for the most comfortable positions. zthe women playing host to these slithering forms wept and whimpered in an agony that pierced their mindless-stupor."

>>96065292/mydudes/ are the Howling Wind, pretty orthodox White Scars successors who are charged with protecting one of the few trade routes left through the Great Rift, now more of a bubble of real space in the middle of the Rift than a true path through.
The chapter is named after their founder, a sanctioned legionary who was thought disposable and was one of the first primaris candidates, but who survived the odds anyway.
It turns out he was sanctioned for good reasons and when given a cohort of new marines to protect the sub-sector, he immediately named them after himself and proceeded to take tithe from every trade ship inspected.
He has supposedly refused to even read the Codex Astartes, though the greatest deviation from the Codex is that the chapter is organized in three hordes/battalions that then break up into even smaller groups to cover as wide an area as possible.
Recruits are from the trade worlds themselves, and they claim no permanent home world. The chapter is fleet based with no known battle barges and only a few strike cruisers, with most of the fleet's tonnage being independently operated escort vessels.
tldr They're American bikers led by a Mongol charged with protecting the (space) Silk Road, and are "dirtier" than usual White Scars but are otherwise pretty close in culture. Think Crimson Fists to Imperial Fists.

Their color scheme being oddly close to certain Sagyar Mazan cohorts from the heresy is pure coincidence. Yep. Totally.
I'm rolling around some concepts in my mind for /mydudes/
The Order of Redeeming Pain is built on the idea that the opening of Cicitrix Maledictum was the result of mankind's sins, and only through repentant suffering can humanity redeem itself and see the galaxy healed. Like all Imperial forces, this newly founded Order was stretched thin by demands for help by human worlds under attack. But the Sisters swore that they wouldn't merely save the people, they would save their souls.
For the Order of Redeeming Pain, victory in battle is only the first step. The sins of the people must be purged, starting at the top. The planetary leaders, and sometimes even high guard officers if their regiments were found wanting in battle, are invited to a secret council with the abbess. This simple trick sees them walk into the Order's Pain Dungeons. There the Sisters visit pain upon them beyond imaging. The methods are a strict secret, but they are always successful.
After emerging from the Pain Dungeons, those men and women are lit by a fiery commitment to the Order's cause. They will lead their people in mass self flagellation ceremonies. Those who resist are dealt with, and those who survive the ordeal begin to seek out those who ran or hid, to force them to expunge their own sins through agony.
As the Order's ships take off to save the next disobedient world, their ships are filled with converts who desire nothing more than to experience that divine pain again, and offer themselves freely to be installed in Penitence Engines, which the Order has in abundance. Some even offer themselves to become Arco-Flagellants, although the cyborgs fielded by the Order seem different in some way from those seen in other Orders

>>96067938This seems more like a GSC question than a Nid one.
Nids would just eat you since your body would have much more biomass than farming humans (especially since you'd need to feed them biomass to get biological products out)

I also really enjoy the heretic-purging side of Sisters of Battle, love those flagellants. You did good anon

>>96069680Weird self report but okay
last night ultramarines attempted to bait out the loxosceles remnants in a decisive engagement .
1000 points. We played this neat scenario in the middle of a warp storm which made all deep strikes downgraded to strat reserves. Unless you completed a shoot signal flair action- in which case you could deepstrike near the unit which completed it.
And every unit had infiltrators, but demons spawned around the portal in the middle.
The ultramarines did succeed in bringing loxosceles to battle, but loxosceles struck the marines as they fought several fried synapse nids(demons) which were thrown out of the warp , disorientated and feral.
What followed was a dark day for the chapter.
Loxosceles victory: 1 req spent to use 3 agendas. 3/3 agendas achieved
Destroy up to 5 marked units in melee - 3/5
Kill general - achieved
Devour all biomass - achieved.
Hereโs deployment. Demons surged into a ripper and the big plasma primaris squad with attached liuetenant.
Then first turn went to Nids

>>96069714What are the best coomer custodes minis?
>>96069703This was an armageddon crusade game.
My list: underground assault.
Deathleaper(reroll first turn dice)
Ooe(+1t to his squad)
Trygon prime (general)
Neurotyrant
Biovore
2 fex (+1 to hit on charge)
6 zoanthropes
1 ripper
Is underground assault busted? It feels weird being able to kill shit as Nids this edition instead of boringly playing on objectives.
I made one tunnel which the carnifexes(who Iโd sucked into strat reserve) jumped out of with a rerollable charge at 6.
I tabled my opponent and the demons turn 3.

Hereโs his list
Ironstorm
Techmarine
Lieutenant
Terminator librarian
5x interscessors
5x plasma primaris
5x stern guard
5x terminators
1 ballistus dread
1 light floating las cannon tank

Why don't people use lacquers for wargame mini's? It's odd to me that despite model/garage kit's and miniatures sharing a similar niche when it comes to hobbying stuff I've never seen anyone on the miniature side using alot of the stuff the others do and vice versa. I've only seen one dude use acrylics like vallejo on model kits and outside the mr hobby primer that I've seen some warhammer guys use no one touches shit used for garage kits. >>96069840I havenโt played enough games to comment too much, but maybe suggest a Redemptor Dread somewhere too. Terminators will be getting:
Shields, Thunder Hammers, Cyclone Launchers. Storm bolters from captains replacing the assault cannons, not sure if I'll magnetize the option. Assault cannon is lethargic compared to what a cyclone+SB can do.
I'll have enough for 55 terminators and two leaders for 2k. Leaving 15 left over to become thunder hammer terminators, or other leaders if I pick some.
I like Librarians.
I may convert helmets to be power-shield orbs. Not a fan of the helmets on the terminators looking more sunken into the armor on modern terminators.

>>96065292They're the O'tau'ais sept. a 4th sphere sept that got cut off in the warp from the rest of the 4th sphere fleet and got ejected randomly on the opposite side of the galaxy. In the warp translation they lost most of their advanced battlesuits in the desperate battle for the ships. so they lack advanced supplies and materials of other septs. Instead their mothballed vehicles remained intact and are easier to assemble with local materials.
They landed on a planet that is its post glacial aphelion around a massive super giant star. A star so massive and huge that its planets take millennia to orbit. Its also so massive of a system there are dozens if not hundreds of planets and even more moons. Their sept planet is mostly forest and swamps that have sprouted since the glaciers retreated making it difficult to navigate meaning hovering vehicles even more important for defense. The army relies on vehicle heavy movements to strike from afar and melt away using mobility to stay at stand off engagements, with light mounted infantry and crisis suits used to defend the armored elements.
They launch raids on the surrounding planets and moons often visiting archeotech ruins or even inhabited portions of the system in order to get essential resources needed to grow their quickly growing sept. Their commander is Commander Godwind, who is a cold star pilot who prefers to enter battle from a low orbital insertion. Their raids are characterized by 2-3 mantas deorbiting at extremely high speeds, with Godwind leading them from the front in his coldstar battlesuit, They go in guns blazing and launching massive seeker barrages to clear a landing zone while launching all vehicles and battlesuits from high altitude to do a quick insertion. These ground forces then mop up any surrounding forces, once the engagement area is clear the mantas land and load up their cargo holds with as much cargo as possible while retrieving the landing forces and leaving.

You know how wasps are paraistic and lay their eggs inside other creatures. They hatch and eat all the non vital organs to keep the host alive until they are ready to emerge from the body, sometimes they survive that as well and guard the wasp larvae. I think it would be cool if chaos geneseed was engineered/mutated to do the same. Plant it inside a victim and it spread and grows like a cancer to make more of itself. Then they emerge from the body to be harvested and put inside CSM candidates.
Just something creepy and weird but has roots in the natural world so its not to 'out there' you know?
>>96070119I do have a squad of gue'vesa, They're recruits from the local planets.
But they're usually given the role of a breacher team and sent in first. As its only natural to use humans in close combat roles due to their superior aptitude and affinity for melee combat. The fact that these are the units with the highest casualties just shows how devoted these recruits are to the greater good.

>>96070907>Because they're a chamber of the Inquisition?I repeat my question.
Why is their stationary watermarked with the ECCLESIARCHY symbol?
Please read this question again. I have placed empathise on a particular word that you seem to have missed the first time around.
>>96070911Whenever the latest HH book was released.
>>96070939Clearly those reports were written in universe by the Ecclesiarchy?
>>96070859Play the Rogue Trader crpg
>>96070941>>HH>>demonsAh yes. Corrupted marines are now demons.
>>96065292Mine aren't as cool as yours. But this is Chaplain Chromius, leader of the Chromius Crusade which brought much honour to the Black Templars after persecuting a successful campaign on the planet of Hartley's Gym during the Charadon war, against the nefarious local despot (and only chaos player in our group) known as "Ben". Many beers were drunk and good times had.
>>96070859We got Vashtorr and Belakor chatting to each other during Arks of Omen
>>96070991I dunno, ask /hhg/

>>96069703Oh almost forgot, edited up a simple campaign tracker to represent the armageddon crusade with the lot of us. I'll just expand it at each stage's conclusion (of which there are 6, 6 games played by each alliance per stage) . should end with a painted map and everyone happy.
>>96070740And you missed my point anon.
>>96070643wtf is this troon pandering shit!?
>>96071054>Eldar>troon panderingIt's their natural state
>>96071054Stop replying to yourself Mike Brooks and go gush over Locked Tomb somewhere else if you love sword lesbians so much.
>>96070643>>96071054>A race that orgyfucked a Chaos god of debauchery into existence>not into troon panderingMfw fr fr no cap
>>96071085Ynnead looks awful anyway.
>here's this eldar god of death>doesn't give off any "god of death" vibes at all>only vaguely looks like slaaneshYou aren't slick, GW.
Also in general extremely boring and uninspired design.
Even the Deathbringer looks cooler, and that fucker is genuinely just Grim Reaper made into a model.
>>96069624wow, almost like it's some sort of copypasta...
>>96071165I would totally buy the tinfoil hat theory that those three Ynnari models were a quick reshuffle of existing assets from stuff originally designed for other Eldar lines.
>>96071165I don't know how true this is but I remember back when AoS first dropped people were saying that Slaanesh was getting removed from the setting, the Yinnari stuff in 40k was going to move in that direction to
>>96070643Black Library was a fucking mistake. "Oh boy, time to write a silly novel about Orks! Oh, by the way, Eldar have sex change operations because I said so."
>>96071201Of all the races in 40k, the immortal psychic schizos who changes personalities when they take new jobs having sex changes is the least surprising for me.
Doubly so for Deldar with their homonculus hellraiser on steroids thing.
>>96071201Nobody is actually upset about this. It's fucking Drukhari, mate. People were more up in arms about the change to the wraithbone lore (they weren't actually upset about that one either).
>>96071214Wraithbone lore was in the codex. I guarantee if the notion that males that want to become Howling Banshees have to physically transition was also in a codex, there would have been more backlash.
>>96071233You are making assumptions and reading something into that passage that is not written there based on what's in your own mind.
>>96071251Not really. It explicitly says the character only took on the female form when he/she/they became a succubus and that Howling Banshees operate in "the same way." Pretty cut and dry.
>>96071251anti tranny cope is so pathetic. just complain about DEI honestly like a proper chud.
>>96071180Seethe more samefag
>>96071214They are xenos, not braindead humans with current things and virtue signalling
There will be a female Custodes model before there is ever a female Farseer model.
>>96066084>wabi sabigrey tide
>>96070595because kit-kats fuck
And because I repainted over a model I had lying around from when I first started the hobby. Back when reusing sprue as basing โbricksโ seemed like a good idea.
>>96070945they cant as all knowledge of chaos is suppressed by the Inquisition.
Am I too late to complain about the resin krieg being replaced with this shite?
