Just the Greek looking stuff and that undead company
>>96069653 (OP)Do games of Warhammer Fantasy really look like this or is this just a disgusting example?
>>96069667It was posted in the bad terrain thread for a reason
>>96069667What annoys me about this is that neither of these two lads were willing to put in even the tiny about of effort to bother smoothing out the grass mat before plopping their shit down on top of it
mail carrier dropped off kino today
>>96069715Absolute kino that probably cost a small fortune eh
>>96069667At times yeah, sometimes your LGS fucks you with a card tournament so you host and use whatever is available.
Generally I think people strive for decent terrain especially in the age of cheap 3d options for minimal effort.
Horsey guys coming together well. Got about 36 men at arms left to print, then a unit of foot knights and my BSB, plus a damsel on unicorn, but after that I should be good to get these guys base coated.
>>96069715The corners aren't even dented, by god. Enjoy the first whiff of that vintage 1990s GW factory air.
>>96069653 (OP)I want to get into old world, but I have pretty limited time for building/painting. What's a good elite/low model count army I can do?
>>96069715I have a tiranoc chariot of this era and the fact it was sealed has prevented me from opening it. Same with a cauldron of blood.
>>96070092Lowest model count would be ogres. You could also do tomb kings and put most of your points in constructs which are pretty points heavy. Still need to paint some skellies but that's easy
>>96070092Warriors of Chaos is another relatively lower model count army.
>>96070092Warriors can be done very elite. Ogres too but they are legacy so that may put you off.
How common are Griffon riders in the Empire? Most of the Elector Counts and Knight Order Masters are depicted on horses, and I figure if they had a griffon they'd ride it. The only Character i can think of depicted riding one is Karl.
>>96070092you'll get bored with an elite army.
>LGS still out of stock of square bases
>Games workshop out of stock
>Want to base my six minotaurs I got from an AoS army box years ago

Retard
>>96070130Gausser also commonly rides a griffon. Those are the two with named mounts, the others can get one if they need it but don't do so all the time.
>>96070130Pretty rare, generals and wizards can take one but you'd probably only see 1 to 2 in a large army.
>>96070147I printed myself several bags of plastic 20mm, swarm and cav bases on a filament shit machine. That's one of the few acceptable uses of proontshit in the hobby, and I suggest you consider it.
>Dogs of war will feature swarthy Estalians
Big if true.
>>96070165Your piggy looks great!
>>96070155Minotaurs go on 50mm not 25mm you prostate self stimulating, child molesting, ethnic, cultural and religious Jew
>>96070165What an ugly abomination
>well done anon, it looks solid.
>>96070165Not enough highlights, the skin and bristles are too dark and monotone. Give it a light drybrush of a lighter shade of brown.
>>96070147>>96070155I've bought a bunch these. Only comment would be they're like a fraction bigger than the GW ones. Doesn't really matter much, but it did give me some issues when making my own movement trays since the small difference can add up. You can just shave the sides of them down a bit with a razor though.
>>96070186Evemodel makes every base size there is.
>>96070209Oh okay thank you anon.
Upon further inspection I've found the 50mm square bases and have ordered some.
I apologize for my outburst
>>96070174That's kind of what I was thinking, but I was questioning it from the OP image, where they have a few flying around it seems. Obviously that's a big ass battle, but I wonder how many the average Imperial army. Like how many a province could muster up between all their generals and local knightly orders.
Are there savage orc stls
>>96070235>savage orc stlsI literally just pulled some up googling your post.
>>96070246Ones that donโt look like shit
>>96070209Disregard the shipping was over double the cost of the item itself. Being an Aussie is objectively better than being a burger in all ways but this
>>96070222The richer ones maybe like a dozen, the poorer ones would be lucky to have 1 or 2
>>96069178Well it was 750/800 prior to TOW era indeed but the Knights Panther are still there too.
>HH getting 40k/AoSified
>the Cathay release signals a similar trend; no customisability for anything not in the GW mandated box
What are you faggots going to do when 2E comes out and James gives TOW the same treatment it did to his 3 other big games and simplifies it to the point of infancy? You'll be begging to play classic editions of Warhammer Fantasy, but you won't be able to because all your minis are on shit-ugly 25mm based lmao. Too bad piggies.
>>96070495Iโm not buying into old world until they release savage orcs anyways.
>>96070495Oh well, guess I'll play a better fantasy mass battle system then.
>>96070495oh no, all my figs now fit comfortably on bases suitable for modern sized minis, whatever shall I do
>>96070516>WHF 6th>Warmaster>OathmarkWhat are other actually good fantasy games? I'm not playing Trannies of War or ASOIAF.
>>96070549One page rules, turnip 28, and thatโs it.
some anon shared 3d scans of 4th-6th edition models a few weeks back, anyone know where I can find these?
WHERE IS THE PREYTON YOU FUCKS!
>>96070130>>96070162Wolfram Hertwig also rides a griffon, Bloodfeather.
But griffons generally are rare, if only because they eat so much you need to be a wealthy noble to support one. The number of explicit mentions of people owning griffons is very low. I can't even remember any more names off the top of my head.
I don't think it's ever been detailed to any great depth. Imperial Griffons are supposed to be different to wild ones (and bigger) so they must breed them in captivity. Although the most famous 'Imperial griffon', Deathclaw, was a gift from the Wood Elves apparently, so who the fuck knows.
Realistically, strapping your heads of state to the back of a flying animal and then sending them off into battle seems like a truly retarded idea, but it's fantasy, so eh.
>>96070652Thanks for the correction, I'm senile and forgot about Hertwig.
>>96070652>Imperial Griffons are supposed to be different to wild ones (and bigger) so they must breed them in captivity. Although the most famous 'Imperial griffon', Deathclaw, was a gift from the Wood Elves apparentlyMy headcanon is that it's a subspecies, not a domesticated breed. It's near-extinct or just exceedingly rare in the wild, so most (but not all) out there are captive bred.
>>96070652The only lore I know of how griffons are acquired is that eggs are gathered from the mountains and they're hatched and reared in captivity. I've always read "Imperial Griffon" as just being like a subspecies of larger griffon
>the lord of all sedans..There's no realistic way you could captive breed an intelligent, giga-powerful animal like a Griffon that also flies. The measures you'd have to take to prevent it from flying away would drive it insane, like an elephant in a small enclosure. So then when saddled up for battle it would just go berserk and shred everyone.
Demigriffs seem plausible to breed, however, simply because they can't fly and are smaller and not as devastatingly strong. You could make a big stone-walled enclosure with iron gates to keep them and feed them only butchered meat so they never learn humans have food inside them. And realistically if you found a population of such creatures you'd want to breed them. Your culture would abandon any prior friendship with horses and declare demigriffs best animal forever.
>>96070689Imperial Griffons are explicitly selectively-bred. And ironically, Demigryphs are not - they're tamed from the wild as adults. There's a really fine line to tread for monstrous mounts between 'how and why do they keep these creatures?' and 'why doesn't every knight ride one?'. I'm not sure the existing background hits that very well.
There's also Pegasi, which can be bred and aren't entirely carnivorous which makes you wonder why anyone bothers travelling through the dark forests of the old world when they could just fly everywhere.
>>96070689I'm relatively sure demigriffs also don't get bred in captivity, but unlike griffins they don't take the eggs to raise but knights who want to ride one have to break and tame a wild one as a test of skills or someshit.
If I had to try and rationalise the overgrown imperial griffins, I'd say that a constant and heavy diet griffons can have in captivity while growing up may end up boosting their growth way more, since a juvenile wild griffin would probably eat way less, I don't imagine parental cares continuing past the moment they're able to move out of their nest and I imagine a small griffon in a forest of monsters would eat carcasses more than hunt.
>>96070768Pegasi probably cost an awful lot, are temperamental enough that if you're not a big shot who trained a long while with one, it may drop you off midflight, and the skies of the old world are also probably dangerous, you're an easily visible meal for wild griffins and wyverns.
>>96070768>and 'why doesn't every knight ride one?speaking of, why doesn't ulthuan have demigryphs? and why do dragon princes use horses instead of pegasi or some other beast?
>>96070820Ulthuan got made before the catastrophe, demigriffs and griffons and pegasi are creatures born from the catastrophe, griffons and pegasi can fly and thus migrated to ulthuan, but in small numbers, demigriffs cannot fly and thus remained in the old world.
>>96070786I justified it as they're like zebras - they don't live in herds like horses, so unlike horses you can't supplant the head of the herd. Which makes them hard to train. They're also surprisingly monstrous - they can and do eat meat.
In my WFRP campaign the players went to Parravon and I quite enjoyed their encounter with the Duke's head falconer/stablemaster who I based on Hodgesaaargh from Discworld. Basically a Bretonnian peasant with one arm, one leg and about three remaining fingers who is nevertheless autistically passionate about monsters.
>>96070768>Imperial Griffons are explicitly selectively-bred. I'll believe you on that, and I knew demigryphs weren't bred. There's not a lot of attention paid to internal consistency or logistics in the lore...
>>96070820It's a random chance for what chaos-mutated creatures spawn near your base.
Ulthuan got giant lions, eagles, griffons and more fucked up and retarded monsters they just have to purge.
Naggaroth got hydras, manticores and harpies.
Bretonnia has Hippogriffs, but no demigryphs or manticores.
>>96070827Bullshit, ulthuan wasn't spared from its share of mutant monsters.
>>96070845>chimera flies
>cockatriceflies
>harpyflies
>manticoreflies
>wyvernflies
>giant scorpion>gorgon>hydraimported by dark elf raids
>giant spider >giant wolf>trollimported by grom's raid
>>96070831Because gay little elves sing to their mounts or some sissy shit. Empire chads earn their respect by showing their strength and being Alpha or becoming friends with them like Franz.
>>96070549Midgard comes to mind.
Modded Pike and Shotte too.
>no talk of demons post errata
They're dead dead arent they
>>96070969All Legacy factions are dead
Does The Press of Battle also apply for a unit fighting an enemy at their flank or rear? Since the Fighting Rank rule was changed so you also form one on any side you have an enemy unit

Have you guys read the latest Cathay article?
https://litter.catbox.moe/h38z97ck07qs476t.pdf
finished my second warhawk rider
>>96070969always have been
>>96071050Not yet, thanks for posting desu~
Has the rest of the latest WD been scanned?
>>96070829>like zebras - they don't live in herds
>>96071050lol, they're showing the wrong head here, this is not the female head, it's the male head with a different scheme and no whiskers
>>96071100I think anon is confused by the patterns and thinks that's a single zebra
>>96071092You're welcome. :)
>Has the rest of the latest WD been scanned? It has. Here it is:
https://litter.catbox.moe/aflizu5z6lqqp2p7.pdf
>>96071100Sorry, that was unclear. The pertinent part was 'like horses'. Zebras (depending on the species) don't have the same tight family hierarchy as horses.
>>96071122>>96071125Oh shoot, you're right.
Bit of a fuckup.
>>96071100>>96071132It's true, Zebras are fiercely independent, they just happen to very occasionally bump into each other en masse.
>>96071157You're not really convincing me here, anon
>>96070044Start painting, my dude
>>96071050>Repeats exactly the same 'there is no conflict in Cathay' bullshit but directly from the author's mouths. So much for the 'it's in-world propaganda' cope. Seems like a lazy cut and paste of the same text, even.
>>96071145>Zebras (depending on the species) don't have the same tight family hierarchy as horses. They do though. Both are usually harem groups of a single stallion with the pecking order decided by seniority. Then there are the bachelor herds that exist in both groups.
>>96071191Yeah, they keep avoiding every opportunity to add some nuance into the faction, it's disheartening.
What was the reception of the Cathay release, anyway?
>>96071191>>96071244Remind me why anyone in 2025 has any faith that GW will give us a good game with cool lore?
>>96071297Mostly positive. The most recent Horus Heresy 3.0 fuck up may have caused some collateral damage to Warhamer the Old World due to it also being associated with Specialist Design Studios.
>>96071297it's cool but like the Votann for 40k they're missing too much units. Currently waiting for a second wave of figures to get them or not
>>96071193God, it turns out the internet is a complete mess on this subject and I can find tons of sources that say completely contradictory things on zebra social hierarchy. Maybe confused by the fact that Plains, Mountains and Grevy's Zebras are all quite different in social organisation.
Search for zebra vs horse social hierarchy and you'll see what I mean.
>>96071325>The most recent Horus Heresy 3.0 fuck up may have caused some collateral damage to Warhamer the Old World due to it also being associated with Specialist Design Studios.WTF is going on with Horus Heresy?
>>96071336List building got simplified to discourage kitbashing and using third-party bits.
>>96071064Looks fuarkin sick kunt
Probably the worst cuisine in the Empire.
>>96071332Most anti-zebra propaganda is purely down to the fact that the African natives never domesticated them. People have to search for reasons why, because otherwise they fear some people might settle on the idea that Africans are retarded. I don't think that's fair, lots of species could have been domesticated but were not.
But that's the reason you're likely to come across weird zebra information despite there being plentiful evidence of tame Zebras.
Anyone got a good tutorial on how to paint muted , grimy skaven with contrast + drybrushing to mask the pooling? Never tried this approach before, so I'd love to get some advice for the right primer and colours.
>>96071050This is just the review articles with so pictures. Literally nothing new
>>96071387what a shame, imagine if they were domesticated like the horse, they would have made for bitching looking steeds
>>96069653 (OP)I guess Cathay really is perfect now then, what the fuck
>>96071423>Prime grey >Slather the entire mini in a thinned down skin colour >Block out metals (dont use metallic paint you fuck)>Block out all other materials with thinned down paint so the whole miniature is within the same range tonally >Glaze the tails a darker/lighter/redder colour. Again thin your paints to keep it within the same tonal range as the skin >Add highlights to the metals >Add final touches (teeth, eyes, highlights on skin and cloth Done ya fuck, it's not hard
>>96071578I refuse to believe the arcane journal is anything but cathay's own propaganda.
>>96071578This is even contradicted in the Arcane Journal opening paragraph
>>96071591That's from the new White Dwarf article
>>96070689>>96070768interesting discussion, but I definitely would not put too much weight on demigryphs in how they relate to the overall picture. they weren't introduced until 8th, which was after GW had canned or driven off most of the creative talent and stopped giving a damn about the coherency of the setting. integrating the work of successor writers who didn't give a fuck, did no research and just shot from the hip in to a larger setting's canon is always a headache.
>>96071601Still cathay propaganda.
>>96071609fuck off retard
>>96071423this anon's method is good
>>96071589but also, if you're getting a lot of issues with pooling contrast on a model as small as a skaven, go a little lighter on the paint. contrast still works in thin coats, you don't need to blob it on there.
Is there an updated pdf of the rulebook with the 1.5 faq changes?
>>96071609If the intent for cathay is to be initially presented as a powerful nation that eventually, post-TOW, succumbs to its own weight and can't thrive without the presence of the dragon emperor, then that's cool. But when that's not even hinted at in any of the released fluff for the army, then I'm starting to have doubts.
In fact, I would go so far as to say that GW is fucking retarded for making an army that has zero current flaws. When loyal GW consoomers are begging GW to give them flaws or for them to "stop writing propaganda", then that's a sign something is screwed up with the whole situation.
>>96071589What's wrong with metallic paints?
>>96071601clearly the internal rebellions are from chaos cults, the nation is perfect!
>>96071589I have no rat in this race, but metallic paints painted over black or brown can look very good and it's really easy to make them grimy and dull afterward if you don't want them to be shiny. You just have to thin them down properly. NMM is cool and all, but don't do it on skaven, that's retarded. I assume anon wants to be able to actually play a game with fully painted models some time this century.
>>96071630I agree. Like
>>96071601 said, even the Arcane Journal mentions it has rebellions so there IS indeed disharmony.
And there would have been plenty of room for the dragon siblings to be little shits and squabble over petty borders between their assigned lands. Shit, GW could have had a story about the Dragon Emperor disappearing, either out of the country of lost in his contemplations like a Slann, for a time and the dragon kids could have formed up their own factions and gone through a Romance of the Three Kingdoms style massive civil war with larger-than-life heroes and villains and betrayals and shifting alliances.
But no. We get "everything is totally perfect and harmonious and no one ever fights or gets sad or starves because everything is totally good"
>>96071666Sorry yes I forgot you'd need to do this x40
Coat black then thin metallic and slap some rust/blood/shit effects on it
>>96071675The thing is that Cathay supposedly is undergoing that massive civil war currently in The Old World but there's basically nothing about it in the current AJ. The Dragon Emperor disappears in 1999 IC. Then he returns and throws out the Monkey King in 2380 but that's basically all the fluff for that era, along with the dragon siblings fighting each other and eventually uniting against the Monkey King. Cathay is in the warring states period right now, the Time of Darkness and Disharmony.
If the second Arcane Journal for Cathay doesn't tell us about any of this shit then I'm out. Supremely disappointed.
>>96071719It's so sad that GW is so intent on pandering to modern china that it's ignoring all the fascinating aspects of historical china it should be drawing from.
>>96071050>To help scale the Sentinel, there are lots of little devotional ribbons tied around its
legs, representing how Cathayan people
have asked it for protection or else given it
their blessings for the battles to come.
They're only featured low down on the
model, though, because thatโs as high as
regular people can reach!
Surprisingly soulful
>>96071382cooking with beer is actually great
So are skaven, vampires, dark elves and lizards coming once the last legacy units are refreshed or discontinued in AoS?
>>96071835I think GW is playing The Old World by feel at the moment.
>>96071835That's the running speculation, but we have no official confirmation about that.
>>96071835skaven, vampires, and lizards are for sure not leaving age of sigmar, though enough of their ranges have been replaced with updated kits that old world may get the older 2000s kits.
dark elves are still currently in use in aos, so you'll probably have to wait an edition for those
>>96071835no

>>96072013Cram it, Fundie!
>>96072079Did you ask a bot to give you something to reply with or do low quality botposts come natural to you now?
>>96072099Cram it, Poofter!
I am already thinking of my next purchase for my WoC. Should I purchase 6 more Chaos Knights? I currently have 5.
>>96069667No. I made a bunch of fantasy terrain for the game when Old World was launched. I tried picking up one of those old static mats but don't use it because it creases up too much. Currently working on some trees. Thinking of making some rivers and ponds / lakes next. I'd really like to make a desert board soon.
>>96072293Sure, as long as it's the WFB chaos knights kit and not the AoS one.
The WFB is so much nicer to kitbash with. I am using it atm to make khorne knights.
>>96072307I got 5 of the TOW, who are stupidly big but was actually looking at hunchback lance Warriors.
>>96072303Thought about making stuff like baggage trains for your army anon?
>>96069674>bad terrain threadGot a link? Sounds kino.
>>96071666>I have no rat in this racesaw what you did there, satan

>>96072293>my next purchase for my WoC>I currently have 5>Should I purchase 6 more Chaos Knights? Yes. 5 are rookie numbers, gotta pump those up my boy.
>>96072335Wanted to make some objective markers. Not sure if I can be bothered to make scratch build baggage trains. Maybe if I can get some spare wagon wheels.
>>96072336nta but here you go
>>96058937
>>96072393thats the kind of thing where you build one wheel and then just use bluestuff to make copies
>>96072357It shall be done...unlike their foot counterparts, Chaos and Chosen Knights have been, in a word, incredible.
>>96070092WoC you can basically have 2k points with just the army box
Just finished this scorpion, just needs the pigment powder and it's done.
>>96071005It does... the bigger question I have is exactly how do the "everyone who is within their basic move in the Fighting Rank can fight" interact with Lance Formation?
And my other question is... if you pursue a unit that Fell Back in Good order... do you lose the Press of Battle rule? Make it so it would actually be better if they just stepped back, because that would be counter-intuitive.
>>96071608Tbh I still don't like Demigriphs.
I feel like there were tons of monsters the could have used, and Demigriphs feel like a flanderization.
people are posting Sea Wardens pages?
>>96072320I am an ardent hunchback chaos enthusiast and I assure you I'm completely unbiased when I say the 5th ed knight kit is excellent. You might have some issues getting them to rank up if you put them on slottabases, but a little bit of filing down and cutting should get the job done.
>>96072872Sure, is there anything specific you want?
>>96072890new careers any good?
I'd love to see new lore but the dwarf book didn't really have a ton so I'm not holding my breath here
>>96072925New careers were in the player Guide released a couple of months ago, and they seem decent overall.
High Magic is very much something a Player would have to min-max for.
As for new lore, I guess Tor Koruali is given a lot of depth that wasn't there previously, but I'm not sure how much of it is brand new or just the C7 writers going off information that was in the William King Teclis and Tyrion books.
I think the mention of a Khornate Elf is new, but it's just a footnote for an NPC the PCs could, in theory, interact with.
>>96072886I'd be buying second hand but the images show the set provided from the seller would rank up fine. I'll look to buying soon.
>>96072777>if you pursue a unit that Fell Back in Good order... do you lose the Press of Battle rule? You count as having charged so yes you lose the second rank but you get your charge bonuses and like strike first
>>96069653 (OP)Working on my goats, what are you anons doing for old world stuff this weekend?
>>96073018Still looking for someone to buy chaos warriors
>>96072963High Magic isn't even worth minmaxing for in any kind of regular game. Getting access to it takes 10k+ xp minimum assuming you only take the prerequisites and nothing. Even Blood of Aenarion barely scratches the surface. I genuinely don't know how anyone would get to that point naturally, and I've been running my WFRP campaign every week for 5 years.
>>96073048It's probably not even meant for players to use, but for NPCs like the Slann mage-priests or other high end casters
>>96072963do they talk about the sea guards' organization at all? Cothique seems to be all about naval tradition yet are always overshadowed by Eataine/Lothern
>>96073292Sea Guard get some info in the player guide, but the Sea Wardens do cover the Scions of Mathlann in their role in Cothique and Cothique's navy is gone into with a bit of depth.
>>96073389how different are the Scions from the Sea Guard?
>>96073567The Scions are just a spearman regiment that has connections to Mathlann's cult and are blessed by Mathlann which isn't the case with Sea Guard
>>96073389was this the book with spites?
Just went to look at Cathay on the store and Gate master is the only non-sold out unit atm in the US, UK also hate the dice taken off so i guess those are sold out.
>>96073640how will this affect savage orcs or demons
>>96073623theirs a Spite NPC in the book, but it's the Salzenmund book that have a larger list of Spite statlines in it
>>96073668There is a Spite NPC*
>>96073660More sales in general should increase the odds of any individual army getting an expansion since it means more eyes on the game. So i guess it's good?
Just want ogres to come home already.
>>96074023I donโt. Theyโll either fuck with the games state or become even worse.
>>96071297I don't know, you tell me.
>>96074035I struggle to see how they can be worse than they currently are. The 1.5 changes hurt them big time and itโs not like they were top tier before.
>>96069667You would be shocked to know that most TOW tables look worse than that.
>>96074023Sorry, but the "Ogors" are still a core army in Age of Sigmar.
>>96074160Eh Iโm pretty sure they are coming back to fantasy. They received almost no support for the decade theyโve been in AoS and their implementation has been incredibly sloppy. I look forward to them coming home.
>>96074160>>96074180It's pretty funny ngl
They got 1 or 2 characters and Gorgers but not for AoS itself but one of the smaller spin off games.
>>96071297the models are largely good, with a few gems in the crews
the roster is small but promising
the centerpieces are way too fucking huge
the sentinel is the worst kit to assemble in gw's history, also the easiest to paint
rules are blatantly overtuned to make the shit sell as much as possible
the worldbuilding and integration into the fluff is ridiculous, as if it was propaganda but passed as the word of an impartial god, also lacking depth and basic lore
frankly it could have gone worse, at the end of the day the important thing is that they nail the minis, and that they did for the most part
>>96074180>goes back to old world >gets even less support than they had in fantasy battleI'd be surprised if their arcane journal even had a shred of sovl that beastmen had.
>>96074189the gorgers are usable in aos proper too
they also got 2 scenery pieces, also usable in aos, and a pair of underworld bands, with the important one with the hunter and sabertooth getting rules for aos proper

So then demigryphs is at risk of intertwining gryphs with the Empire too closely, like how giant birds are exclusively an elven thing.
I think Cockatrices would be a more overt flanderisation of halflings: a tenuous connection to one animal is made a central part of their military.

>>96079474>couldn't even grab one of the hundreds of pictures of winged apes that already exist since the wizard of oz and instead rely on botshitalso no, minotaurs, satyrs, cyclops and centaurs all hark back to greek mythology and so do harpies, they have to stay visibly female, even if you wished to give beastmen a unique look for them that's separate from the dark elves' harpies, which is something unnecessary in the first place.
>>96079517>AI badNah it's actually fine for concepting
Having an allergic reaction to AI is a reddit trait
>>96079237What army would be a good fit for having bees proxy something?
It could be riding giant bees like mounts, smaller ones for infantry-sized units, ammunition for artillery, etc.
>>96079531>Nah it's actually fine for conceptingNo, it's objectively not, which is why not one single concept artist uses this shit.
His left hand failed to print the first time, trying again now. But liking how he looks in the middle of a men at arms block. He's on 50x50 so will probably just count him as 4 men at arms.
>>96079517Beastmen harpies should be hairy women. Dark Elves harpies should be hairless women.
>>96079721that could work, what could also be used is some alternative appearances of harpies in stories and myths and later interpretations
for example, if we separate dark elves harpies from beastmen harpies by making the former more conventionally alluring and the latter more monstrous, we could give to the former the singing voices of syrens (which were bird women, not mermaids, in the odyssey)
while in another story we see harpies harassing aeneas's men who were famished, and they harassed them by swooping over the tables they were preparing to eat at and almost literally shitting on the tables and the food, since these bird-women had holes in their chest from which they let loose some kind of foulness, these would be a separate niche that the more monstrous version of beastmen harpies could use
another element of differentiation could be feathered wings or leather wings, or whether the harpy is more humanoid, with arms, or more birdlike, without human arms
medieval or renaissance depictions of the monster could also be a source of inspiration
Not much TOW stuff in the Sunday preview, a random audiobook and a Warhammer + episode about Cathay probably covering information that we already know

Has anyone done like farmland/wheat field themed bases before? Wondering if there's a good way to do wheat stalks.

Bit pricy but could look good
>>96078003Their design is so fucking atrocious that they don't belong anywhere. I hate them.
>>96078197There are Empire knights with Bretonnian warhorses, so I don't see why a Bretaboo Imperial noble couldn't get a hippogryph if he's capable of getting a griffon.
>>96080229>$9 for 15>would need at least 10 to make a decent looking 25x25That comes out to $6 per base. If you don't have a 3D printer you're cooked
>>96080229>>96080525Luckily I do have a printer. I'll check MMF for wheat, but was curious if there was some kind of extra long flock or like sticky shrub wheat somewhere.

>>96080722Ooh yeah that's good. Also found this stuff. Might be a little too big though.
>>96080605idk i've never read the book
>>96080742Reminds me I need to make that diorama of at least 2 dudes opposing each other fighting in a wheat field. The idea is to have some forced perspective, a windmill or two nearby, and they're in the middle of the fields, already pretty beat up, so they're completely surrounded by undisturbed wheat and the occasional homestead.
>>96080742That stuff looks like it will be hard to glue.
>>96080742Those looks like they'd be great around the feet of a larger, centerpiece model. Like a Cathayan Sentinel.
>>96081024Yeah, it looks like you'd have to put down a layer of soft material like corkwood and embed them into it.
should i pick up a second cathay battalion? i heard lancers are kind of the bread and butter of the army and the cannons are good. i dont plan on running any of the sky lanterns, i dont give a shit how good or necessary that unit is, the model just does nothing for me and its insanely expensive for barely any points.
also any ETA on miao ying? and does anyone happen to know her base size (for the dragon) off the top of their head?
>>96081084Her human form was stated to be on a 50x50mm, so her dragon form would have to be 150x100.
And get fugged. Sky Lanterns are fantastic models.
>>96080128Audiobooks are cool but I wish they would reprint paper books
>>96081115i dont like the balloon part specifically. the pagoda looks cool, but the balloon seems to lack detail and texture, the scale just seems off on it like it looks very obviously like a plastic toy. but more than, the size plus the height of the flight stand make it look absolutely impossible to transport. i dont think people online have fully grasped just how massive and tall this thing is, its like almost a full 2 feet high all together.
plus paying $160 for a 130pt model feels like a total scam.
>>96081153GW is apparently going to do that for the Sigmar and the Negash series at some point with new covers, which is a bit dull since both series are considered somewhat bad even by BL standards.
>>96081084I'd like to see at least something announced for the rest of Cathay's roster. It doesn't have to be "oh, we have a bunch more shit coming in the next couple of weeks", I just want a confirmation that there is shit in the pipeline for the near future. I'm going to be profoundly pissed off if I have to wait two or three years for fucking peasants.
>>96081084>Be in North America.>None available at any nearby LGS.>GW online store for NA is sold out. >>96074039>Amazon is selling Cathay batallion boxes at a 10% mark up instead of a discount.>Pre-orders sell out out in 5 mintutes compared to Horus Heresy 3.0 Saturnine boxes still available for pre-order.>The fact that a single army had a faster sell out time then the release of an entire new fucking edition to a game with a turbo die hard fanbase is very telling.WTF is going on in North America?
>>96081188We should get something this Friday with the big pile of reveals they're doing.
Chorfs definitely coming for Smegmar, will likely fit on squares for TOW.
>>96081188its missing so much. no missile troops, no monstrous infantry, no greatweapon elite infantry, no peasants, no foot wizards, no light cavalry, no light monsters, no super heavy cavalry, etc. they're missing like 2/3s of the unit types in the game, even though their total war roster has all of those units like longma cav, the dog statues, elite celestial guard or whatever they're called, crane gunners, grenadiers, moon bird, the list goes on.
there has to be a second real wave at some point, but they are probably keeping hush hush so people double down on the current wave to fill out their army. they did the same thing with lumineth in aos. i think the waves were like a year to a year and a half apart
>>96081188piggy is gonna have to wait, james knows piggy will buy no matter what so there is no rush
>>96081212>WTF is going on in North America?Freedom
>>96081217Not every faction needs every single possible option, unless it's milquetoast a la empire. Too much makes a faction bland and annoying to face.
That said ranged infantry unit would be nice.
>>96081212Why are people boycotting the new edition of Horus Heresy? Don't Space Marines normally sell gangbusters and isn't HH no longer a Forge World product where people no longer have to take out mortages to afford a 30k army? The typical response is the same old talking point of "Grrrrr! Games Workshop greedy and bad!"
>>96081282Hey dude how about you ask /hhg/ instead of sperging out here?
>>96081212>>96081251I personally blame this anime for indirectly affecting Cathay's popularity in NA. Despite the Visual Novel aimed at young girls (and house wives), it's also for some odd reason popular with the guys.
How many cannons is "cheesy" this edition? Like 1 to 2 per 1k points seems fine cannons aren't as good but I know fighting like 6 of them is probbaly still annoying.
>>96081084Do you think she vores empire men?
>>96081292/hhg/ is currently having a hate boner circlejerk to give a non-bias response.
>>96081306>How many cannons is "cheesy" this edition?more than 0
>Like 1 to 2 per 1k pointshow can you possibly think that 4 cannons at 2k points is fine?
>>96081282Get lost James, Pardo or whoever you are.
>>96081172>i dont think people online have fully grasped just how massive and tall this thing is, its like almost a full 2 feet high all together.I see people echoing this sentiment a lot but I don't get what people would think the issue is, you just magnetize the flight stand and lay the Balloon on its side. It's just like any other big model.
>>96081212>New army for a game that is mostly well liked sells well.>New edition to a game with a turbo die hard fanbase, that gets rid of almost everything that fanbase liked about the game sells like shit.Truly a mystery to ponder over.
>>96081212TOW is much more popular than AoS in NA. I don't know a single AoS player but my LGS is hosting TOW tourneys regularly now. Their AoS stock has been untouched for months, they still have a mountain of Skaventide boxes kek.
>>96081280Yeah the only thing absolutely needed is like a foot caster, peasent melee infantry (potentially archers too) and a crossbow version of the warriors they already have.
Anyone else think wizards on horseback are gay? The only appealing idea is a Bret damsel or Lady Elise in a massive unit of Grail Knights.
>>96081411Have you played any games this edition?
>>96081172The balloon itself can have 5 Jezzails (albeit with 1 less AP and no magical attacks in exchange for no misfires).
>0-1 unit of Warplock Jezzails per Clan Skryre Warlock Engineer taken>Base Clan Skryre Warlock Engineers are worth 35 points.>Warplock Jezzails teams are worth 19 points, with a unit size of +3.A Skaven player would need to pay (19 x 5) + 35 = 130 points just to get 5 Jezzails on the table.
>>96081531Cool, now where the fuck am I suppose to buy these minitaures without giving Age of Sigmar money?

Has anyone made their baggage trains yet, I'm making one for my Empire army that's just a simple cart with some food and a chest of gold on it but I'm at a loss as to what a Wood Elf baggage train would look like
Maybe I'll do some wardancers as a travelling troupe?
>>96081577I made mine using stormvermins and empire gunners
>>96081645A baggage train for woodelves wouldn't necessarily involve a chariot or a cart.
Anything with wheels wouldn't make much sense in the forest.
But I could see a line of pack animals carrying stuff, horses, stags, giant birds, even bigger animals like a moose and smaller ones like various hounds.
If one wanted to go more forest spirit you could also have a fruit-treeman that could just hand you fruits and a series of driads carrying shit around for the elves.
>>96081645Not my idea but another anon said make a wounded animal being escorted like a hunted unicorn being guarded
>>96081645I'd imagine something less practical and more spiritual, so instead of a cart carrying supplies, it's something that follows a path of mystical importance, maybe an animal, something slow and sturdy
consider a humble giant tortoise, on its back there's a small garden and a waystone (one of the few that works on the move?)
or maybe it's an extremely ancient treeman, way too slow and wizened to fight, but heralding the arrival of the season with its passing? (autumn if male, spring if female?)
or there's no cargo at all, it's just 'civilians' having a procession or travelling from one area to another
>>96081584The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto).
Reaver Bow counts as Bow of Avelorn - does it mean it gets BoA bonuses?
Bought like 3 boxes of kairic acolytes from Aos, was thinking of turning them into forsaken with some greenstuff and leftover demon bits. Probably gonna have to go with the tzeentch mark, but how are forsaken stonks now after the changes?
>>96081172>pic with shitay stuffHoly shit some people unironically invest in this diarrha hahaha
>>96081531>A Skaven player would need to pay (19 x 5) + 35 = 130 points just to get 5 Jezzails on the table.Right but you wouldn't just be getting 5 jezzails, you would also be getting a warlock engineer and a combined 12 wound compared to 7 albeit at a lower toughness
>>96082006Jezzails also get 2 attacks per turn.

>>96079531Spotted the redditor. Posting on here while your wife's bull fucks her?
>>96082117Malekith being objectively correct and the designated good guy will always be canon. Regardless of the angry bleeting coming from Asur sheep, kek
>>96082093It's sodomy with a tranny.
>>96081531like i said, i dont care how good it is, im not buying it. 130 pts for $160 is a deal for suckers, the model is impossibly huge to transport, and i dont like how the lantern part looks.
it could get 100 shots a turn at strength 10 ap 4 damage 15 and cost 30 points and i still wouldnt buy it. in fact, the more abusively strong a unit is the more im hesitant to even field it because i like having fun games of back and forth with my opponent, not 1 sided jank blowouts. same reason i refuse to own more than 2 gyrocopters for my dwarfs.
>>96082184Never gritty but grounded: wizards, dragons, griffons and giant eagles being max high fantasy up to 7th edition. Lothern skycutter is ultra high fantasy design, fish chariot tops even that
>>96082174Thatโs still not grammatically correct. So I take it that you are in fact esl.
>>96082229>Malekith>objectively correctLiterally opposites
>>96082229Look, I'm not against the plot hooks, I'm against the story

the unraveling of the vortex as a double edged tool? fine plot hook
reunion of the elves under malekith? fine plot hook
but how gw progressed to and past each plot point was absolute rubbish, that's the story, that's what's shit
give me a story that makes sense with what came before and and I have no issue if it involves malekith being the trve chosen of assuryan all along
but you absolutely cannot half ass such an important reveal and resolution

7th Edition: - (or VC/HE)
8th edition: -
TOW: HE (soon)
Nothing prevents people for having dedicated armies for specific editions. I'll never play fucking HE in 6th but I'm willing to give them a try in TOW. I hope my understanding of rules and army list analysis is correct and TOW HE are not a dud.
>>96082406the dumbest shit was everything else that happened to involve the elves
>>96082295Yeah, I actually hate the fish chariot way less than the skycutter.
I can't imagine how the skycutter work, really. It's a boat pulled by an eagle. If it takes off from the land the bottom fin breaks. If it takes off from water you get a wet eagle. If they don't take off at all because they just hover with magic, that's just lame.
The tidecutter is like a speedboat with someone waterskiing behind it. Simple as.
In real life whalers would harpoon a whale and let it drag the whaleboat behind it to tire it out. They could reach 25mph or so. It was called the 'Nantucket sleighride'.
