Good deeds are well rewarded? I get foot in the wizardry thanks to Dragis. I use the mastered scholarship bonus to instantly learn a magick most obscure: the weak shadow ball thing!

So, I got sneakiness, glowing eyes, and magic (well, one spell), and didn't even need to whore myself out to anyone or anything to get it. Completely empty pockets, sure, but if year 2 ever comes out, this isn't a bad situation to continue from.

It wouldn't surprise me if she caused the old cataclysm herself. It also explains her obsession with having pure and innocent daughters, because hers most likely died very young.
I think this is more less the broad strokes of Sana's background lore before she became a god. We still don't know how she ascended, what's her relationship with Isatum (could he be the presumed dead ancient emperor?) and why is Raedaia exempt from her harsh treatment of women.

And Deep Adaptation instead of a Full Spark since it looks like a unique spell. And if everything goes to shit then jumping into the sea and running away is always an option. Also Affection maxxing.

Next year I'd put the logic + tutor's bonuses to work with learning scholarship and spells. Since my wellbeing is dependent on Baraqu, getting the highest affection possible sounds like a good idea.

What a classic. I've always wanted to try a build where I get Phenomenal Cosmic Power without a Three Wish Limit. In total, this would require 28 points. I get 15 to begin. I can take 4/5 drawbacks for 12 more points, bringing me to 27. Friendly personality brings me to 28. One drawback includes being stalked by a malicious genie in two years who wants to seal my girl. Immediate issues are a very obnoxious Houri who wants to split us up, another stalker who doesn't actually do anything yet, and some dorks. No inlaws.

Honestly we don't even need all 17. Some will probably be experiments - can she grant herself powers? Can I bind the gemstone to me? Make it summonable to my hand no matter what? But yeah, should be good. And with all this time together, the two of us will be best friends by the time we're ready to hit the real world.

Power levels of the genies you get. Depending on the innate abilities and power level involved, they can do all sorts of things for you, but THEY have the power, and there are usually limits. With Phenomenal Cosmic Power she could probably grant you power for at least some time, even though she'd certainly need to rest a full month or longer. But notice that the powers that be would be watching you closely, and would certainly interfere in some ways even if the genie you chose was capable. I don't mean they'd prevent it, but that it certainly wouldn't be complete or something no one could or would put guardrails on.

I don't know much about the new lore, but I'm pretty sure the Stormcast got their dragons from Dracothion the dragon god that Sigmar befriended and not the Lizardmen. I like the lore that the Draconith choose their riders which they bond with and then only has 1 rider. Very similar to the Mountain Banshees from James Cameron's Avatar (the best movie in existence).

Nahhh, I don't like Kharadron Overlords. But I agree that Age of Sigmar is the worst Warhammer setting. However, Age of Sigmars models look really fucking good and If I can play an army that have 99% Dragons then I am sold. Out of universe you're right, Dracothion was just brought in to set the new worldbuilding for AoS. I'm only leaving room for doubt because in-universe, we have no confirmation of Dracothion's past. He just kind of showed up when Sigmar regained consciousness. There is a chance, however small, GW could retcon him to having been a thing even before the Chaos Gods destroyed the Old World.

It's almost nonexistent though, the trend for AoS barring small nods like Lileath's ark-dimension apparently making it through to the Mortal Realms as an additional source of elves/humans apart from the new aelven gods (and Morathi; not a god at the time) reincarnating dead elf souls has been just kind of skimming over specifics to try to focus on the present. Half the fun of a cyoa when you make a build is to look at other builds, compare them, etc. If all builds are made with different number of points, then there is no fun at all in comparing your lame ass 10 points build with everyone else having all your options + 15 more. Mostly, the intent of the system was to keep the numbers small, and put everyone in a similar state (that being 0). It's not that 0 was ever representative of a variable. 0 is zero. 1 is 1. Regardless of player everyone is brought to 0. When upgrading to 1, anyone who upgraded to 1 was one.

I'll be replacing the system with a character sheet, starting pool of points, and stats to spend them in - with it being on the honor system that the results should reflect you. The limited pool is how I'll be representing your weakened state, and, in this way, everyone will get some control over what's been weakened.

2.0.0 has a lot of changes, but the biggest addition was a request for a map in another thread. It's been taking a bit because, quite simply, I really don't know how to make a map, and I'm making two. A general overall area map (not world), and a very limited city map. Because of the map I'm changing some of the descriptions from the original version of year 1, now that the world has a better layout.

I thought the city map would be the easier one, since it's smaller . . . but it's actually the one taking the most time.

Since you are updating it, here are some things I noticed in the current version which I'm not sure if they are mistakes.

The base version of Ascension says that it gives the same reward as Isatum (except for the language). However further down, that reward includes a spark of magic (which is neither listed for Isatum or the Isatum prereq Acension reward). I'm also not clear on if it means that Acension makes you a chosen of Isatum.

The wording of the charisma stat perks seems strange. I guess the intention is that you can upgrade appearance or voice one step at a time, but as stated you can upgrade appearance twice at cha 5 and 10, then jump directly to silver tongued devil at cha 15?

It is a bit crazy that we don't know until it happens but considering it's a pretty well known event it makes sense that people don't feel the need to inform us.

There's probably all sorts of events and holidays that go an. So when we hear hawkers on the street selling 'Shadow Mass' preparation items it isn't out of the question that we just write the whole thing off as some harmless religious ceremony until the fear and panic really starts to ramp up in preperation.

You could even head cannon that Aquad is the reason you find out about it at the last minute because he's like "Wait, really? You don't know!?".

I know very little about game design, I don't release balanced CYOAs (on purpose) in the first place. I also am quite a bit busier than I once was, so I get even less time to make the CYOAs as is. It's doubtful I could convert it into a game well, or in anything resembling a timely manner.

That said, when I originally released A Bit More Effort I did make a mock up intro level in a game engine. It's long gone now. It was just a generic player getting summoned and running around a part finished Ziggurat with nothing to interact with though. Nothing to miss. I think I might have been more ambitious, and quite a bit more unrealistic, once upon a time.

The people of Pahl Edin simply know about the Shadow Mass Ejection. They could also tell you the river floods in the rainy season, an event which spurs on crops, but also destroys properties and takes lives. They don't though. That said, the entire reason you're able to react to the event (at all) is because it becomes known to you . . . the closer it gets, the more obvious.

If you knew the consequences, it wouldn't change the fact that there are consequences. The same will be true of the new stat allocation at the beginning of 2.0.0 . . . be true to your own body, and capabilities, or there will be consequences.

5 should be enough that, even if you catch it, it won't slow you down and you'd get better.

This is revealed in the map image I'm making, but suffice it to say even without the official means you have examples of people getting through the Ink Black (the Ebb image you noted). It's not impossible, but it's certainly more dangerous than even a treacherous mountain passage. That said, the Ink Black is not a total barrier on all sides.

You have a headstart and in-depth knowledge about the nen system. While everybody is floundering around in confusion and anarchy, you should be soaring and getting stronger by the day till you leave everybody in the dust. It's important to keep in mind it was originally meant to go on for multiple years. You weren't meant to become massively powerful in year 1 or 2 or ever really.

The rework of the system really is just because people thought of zero too much as something disabled or useless, instead of just as a starting point. It will be replaced with the new problem of people trying to power game their start though, and min max it, rather than everyone starting with basically nothing . . . which is part of the intent of 0. You start from the bottom and work your way where you can from there. If it felt demoralizing then that much, at least, was intended. The city was meant to feel daunting and you weren't supposed to be sure if you could manage. Shady or Baraqu or any character or job or organization are all the same things, questionable people or organizations or low you probably aren't sure you can trust . . . or a low paying job but you need some ground to stand on.

As for the game design their are formats out there where that majority of the game is text based, like the examples I mentioned. People who play those sorts of games rarely care about power balance. It's more about exploration and choice and consequence.

Niche genre but there's definitely a market for it. Not saying you'd be able to retire off of the sales or anything but it would be a nice bump to your income that came from working on something You're passionate about.
