Sure I have the bare scraps of other models that I could start a new army off of and use TS rules that are actually pretty decent but I'm not spending 200-300 bucks and however many days and days painting more models because James had an autistic fit and decided I was playing space marines wrong.

The only thing I'm looking forward to in 3.0 edition is that it is an iron warriors edition and expect the SoH or IF treatment from 2.0 where iron warriors get 15 characters.
>>96076925Litterally anyone that has played any melee legion, hell anyone who has played the game, can tell you that you 98% of the time will not volley before you charge because you will ruin your charge, but the opponent gets to free overwatch you anyway.
Its so braindead to think this is anything helpful that it was the turning point when I realized that the people making the game dont even play it.

>>96077123Maybe a demon perty?
>>96077124The only positive side to the new charge rules is the ability circumvent overwatch with the setup move, but with how short that is it's not very useful.
>>96076925it's specifically the really obvious fuckups.
Like the company doesn't have even 1 single game designer on their team - which is why firing pistols before charging simply makes your squad fail their charge. Anyone who's played even 1 game as a melee army would know the enemy just removes models from the front so you go from 70% success to 25%.
>>96076919 (OP)>Thread question:Yep, and the universal agreement is that this edition has mostly good ideas in the core rules, but they ruined all the legions and their flavor. Normally when a big box is coming, my store gets all their distributed copies reserved over the course of our main weekly game night, I'm so far the only people who reserved one of the ten boxes, and I don't really play the game I just build the models mostly so the rules werent the make or break for me.
Interest in playing Titanicus or Legiones was all people were interested in.

>>96076925I dont like the emphasis on moral and cool and stuff like that, sure it was rogue trader bullshit, but I dont think of space marines, super humans in tank armor, as being constantly pinned down by gunfire or scared of flamers and bullshit like that.
I know that sometimes they will need to fall back, I get that there are limitations, but this edition feels like it will be too much.
2 Legions have a ton of rules wanting to cause statuses, and 3 whole legions have defenses to try to stop them, which feels like too much effort and attention on it.
GW constantly pushes that marines are one man armies, "They Shall Know No Fear" yet this edition not only has them constantly getting spooked by everything, it rewards you actively putting them in that position.
Its one thing to be like "there are scenarios where even space marines need to fall back/take cover" and I totally get that, but then there is actively encouraging it to happen so often you think giving not just one legion, but THREE an out to it is something important.
It feels like the soul of the "space marine" as a brand is being cheapened just to nostalgia bait to a time period where space marines were different and pretend your making the game more interesting then it is. There is a line in the sand and they are crossing it.
Feels fucked man, performative.
Rolled 1, 5 = 6 (2d6)
Pass your cool checks, Anons.
>>96077007No Toxin bombs, no rad grenades, no alchem flamers. Terranic Greatswords got better and cheaper.
I am owed good Scythes
>>96077007>What are you owed, anon?I am STILL owed my cool World Eater Apothecaries from first edition, who let me get more attacks on my units, but some of their heads exploded, shit fucking ruled.
Other big thing, let me have two marines shoot out the top hatch of a fucking rhino again you dicks!
>Moritats can volley fire at full BS before they charge on top of the shooting phase
>In an edition that stripped them of their melee weapons
This is the shit that's stupid. You might as well charge because you'd get an extra shooting phase out of the guy but then it'd be stuck pistol whipping marines instead of having something to slice and dice them with. All these new rules or rules changes that change up how things can play but they don't have the equipment to let them do anything with it anymore.
>>96076459>Iโm impressed GW has made the Phoenix Power Spear worse in every edition! I think it's a sidegrade in comparison to 2.0:
Downsides are one less S. (with terminators getting T5 not making it better).
No instant death on 6+ to wound on multiwound models. (You can still kill a 2W model in 2+ on a charge with a lucky +6 to wound.)
The positive thing is it's always D2 on a charge, which doubles its effectiveness against 2W units that people actually use (veterans, reavers, rampagers, now raptors).
It seems like all 3+ squads lost an artificer armor on a sergeant, so killing them will be even easier.
Striking first became even more important now because many rules that ignored bonuses to combat resolution are gone, many units lost access to FnP and Heart of the Legion, and they will run away if enough models are killed. Spear will help with that.
I don't think this is going to be a good weapon for a challenger, though. Most units that can go into challenges are in 2+ now with at least 3 wounds. You have a chance to kill them with a lucky strike with a +1D gambit, but I wouldn't count on it. Rare Sergeants that can get into a duel usually won't have a number of attacks to fish for breaching, even against 5++.
Throwing a couple of spears to a squad of palatines might be a good idea, though.
>>96077171sir thats an augury scanner
>>96077227Don't try your Alpha Legion tricks on me. I know an apothecary when I see one.
>>96077185good point. 99% of space marine novels is how they're no longer humans and barely feel emotions, and specifically never feel fear unless it's something supernatural like a daemon primarch attacking them.
The entire leadership system should not exist for space marines. There's no excuse for it. There should just be a special rule 'Terror' which has a chance to cause charged units to retreat without a leadership test if they don't also contain a primarch or heroic leader in the unit.
This edition comes off like that piece of shit James Gunn superman movie where he's crying constantly throwing emotional tantrums and whining non-stop. That is not superman and it is not how space marine emotions work either.
>>96077135>Alpha Legionnaire strolls into the records department >Says he's Alpharius and needs to access all of the blueprints for all of the main military bases in the Terran system>Bored-as-fuck human clerk forks everything over >Legionnaire gets promoted to saboteur for his masterful work after submitting a bullshit report about how he infiltrated disguised as a food deliveryman

>>96077185I like suppression and routing mechanically in games but I hate how it always gets gimped in 40k stuff because every faction is written to ignore it. TSKNF, Krumpin' 'eads, unfeeling zombie robots/space bugs/trancing elves etc. I'd rather have my marines feel a little cowardly sometimes so I can engage with those mechanics than not have them. And Heresy's supposed to be fuckin' brutal to a group of soldiers that wasn't used to meeting proportionate resistance.
Anyone drum up the motivation to write of summary of all the wargear that got gutted for each unit so far?
>>96077318go fuck yourself. "this is tougher than normal" didn't make marines suddenly scared little girls. You are everything wrong with the game and should fuck off and go play with barbies.

>>96077343marines in 30k werent as mega-brainwashed as they are in 40k, hence why they never got ATSKNF in any edition of the game
>>96077343Marines have superhuman speed and almost preternatural reflexes too, why do they have to roll dice to hit and why is their movement characteristic not infinite?
>>96077220>+1 Init is goodNot only is that something they already have, it is something they have a surplus of, as they get +1 Init from charging anyways.
Phoenixes effectively got -1A in 2.0 it was better to not use Skill Unmatched at all; can't do that anymore, their spears lost 1 Str, their targets gained 1T,
Phoenixes effectively lost 1A, went from wounding on 2+ to wounding on 4+ (-1S on spears, +1T on termies), and their Murderous Strike dissapears outside the charge. That is on top of the nerfs to Sonic Lances (lost Pinning on the Pinning Edition).
It's not a sidegrade when it's worse in every metric - if they exist, regular Cataphractii Chosen would be better
>I don't think this is going to be a good weapon for a challenger, thoughOr against terminators, because that (conditional) 2D bounces off their 2+ saves. That is, if they get the charge to begin with.

>>96077481I know exactly what you mean.
Lots of things have been balanced and given rules purely from a balance perspective, not thematically/logically then balanced appropriately.

>>96077481Yeah, the Heavy changes are โฆarbitrary, to say the least. Like, I could arguably see a stationary gunner gaining more shots on account of simply not having to spray as much. It's not ideal, but I can sorta grok it that way. But a gun suddenly being more powerful or having better armor-piercing qualities because you stand is weird. >>96076925The loss of customisation and RoW.
I was really eyeing WB for this new edition because their 2.0 rules seemed really fucking fun, with melee units becoming better as you kill shit, Gal Vorbak, being able to summon demons, having decent-ish plasma.
So I was hoping to start them with 3rd but now we know this customisation just won't be there. No RoW either.
Feeling bummed right now because the 3 year cycle has begun and that means we can say goodbye to the fluffy stuff and expanded units over time. We'll just get the bare minimum until each Legion's journal is published (DLCs, yayyy).
What's the point of holding out hope.
>>96076925Basically this group. Lovingly converted command group, but every terminator consuls are just not a thing anymore. Only the Praetor still has an existing profile (and it sucks, thanks to shields being horrible dogshit and hammers being worse than fists).
The Praevian? Yeah, okay, that's on me. Totally built that despite knowing it wasn't a legal loadout. But the rest being removed was a genuine shock.
On the upside this whole thing has convinced me to continue this project and make terminator versions for other consuls that normally don't get it. 3.0 can go and stay go for all I care.

I wonder, perhaps we should volley fire as much as we can? You are going to fail that charge anyways.
I mean, you can declare a charge from 12" away...but you I4 marines can only ever roll a max of 9". In fact the average roll is 7.46", or 5.46" for Cataphractii.
You'd need to move at least at M16" to be able to charge the full 12", and that's on a 6.
I wonder if Setup + 2d6 charge would be too opressive...but wouldn't it balance things out in this Shooting Edition?

>>96076925The rules are illegible and that is the main deal breaker, because I don't play that much and when I do, I want to see, understand and apply them immediately, not with browsing through pages, thinking about grammar etc.
I liked HH1.0 more, because I learned 6th/7th edition rules and could them apply as is. I liked 2.0 Legions more, they were not finished in 1.0. I'd actually like 1.0 main rules with 2.0 Legions and some patches from 2.0. I don't know if there is a mix like that. All that reaction, CP, strategem, gambit whatever BS is just rules bloat.
I don't want another Lieutenant subscription service.
And it's braindead that they know they need to release a PDF later. They work with artificial deadlines set by marketing and the project is clearly too big to get it done completely in time. I bet they are still working on the PDF now but had to be finished with the book 6 months ago for printing and shipping. That shit is a bad software development antipattern. Investing time in quality and allowing their staff to put heart into the product is what makes a superior quality product in the end.
The rules could have stayed as-is and they could simply release all the resin in plastic over time, maybe add another unit or faction or whatever. They could reprint the rules every 3 years with all current FAQ and units applied and that would be fine.

>>96076925The missing consuls and legion equipment fiasco and no bike characters is the only thing that really bothers me. Other than that I'm fine with 3.0
I sure as fuck don't care for challenges at all but they are a lot more limited than before. And O can sprt of see the apeal once you know the gambits.
And there's a lot of change for the sake of change but it's mainly the expected stuff from a new edition. Some units and legion rules got worse, other better orther sidegraded or stayed the same.
But the internal balance of options is a lot better than in 2.0. There was a tone of gear and whole units that were basically unuseable before and have improved a lot. Many broken units have also gone down to a reasonable level without overcompensating in the other direction too, so that's nice

>>96078683Yup, happens with every game every time. New version comes out, shit gets removed, fans get outraged and call for boycotts. Then release day happens, and even those shouting for the boycott and killing the developers the loudest can be found playing it from minute one. Happens with COD, Madden, League, you name it.
3.0 will be the most played edition of HH yet, mark my words.

However, one of his crew mentioned in a comment they are working on a home brew to just add the options back for their games.
People forget that SN has imposing house rules on 2.0 in all their batreps (no infinity artificer armor saves ona SGT, forced limit of 4 turns, person who goes second gets to choose night fighting, etc). A lot of the rage at Lardo right now seems to be because he 'reported' the leaks (and shilling). Do we have proof he actually reported the leaks? CANT WAIT TO BUILD MY NEW HOERUS HERESY ARMY <3<3<3<3<3<3
>>96076925Well:
- The force org that seems freeing but is also quite restrictive (vets are suddenly very sparse, HQs are taken not for their actual capability but simply to unlock slots, and auxiliary detachments promoting focusing over mixing. Oh, and all the Legion detachments aren't actually force org slots, they're a list of maybe 3 units you can take.
- Tactical Statuses seem fine on their own, but too much of the game bends over itself to insist upon them to the point they get annoying.
- New BS chart is nice in theory, but feels like it spikes quite hard with crit hits, and the line on snap shots being between BS 3 and 4 feels like it's going to fuck non-marines.
- Changes to heavy weapons are way too beneficial to everyone, and it's not like shooting needed the buff.
- New weapons stars have shit names (FP, RS, MS, SM) and some don't need to exist (I like the idea of AM, but it's literally only used properly on Chainfists).
- Deep Strike got fucked so hard, and once again benefits shooting massively over melee.
- Challenge phase looks nice for it's own mini-game, or for a dedicated primarch-vs-primarch mission, but is way over-bloated for normal play, and has led to downplaying sergeants and up-scaling HQs, leading to more herohammer.
- Vehicle Damage Table is boring (Vehicles needed a buff, don't think this is it)
- The gutting of options. The absolute total gutting of options.
- Changes to line, scoring, and Vanguard really box in what missions can be, probably explains why we only got 3 missions.
- Not actually convinced there's any reason to take TSS over HSS again.
- Legion rules got fucked. Some are weak, some are strong, some are literally broken, almost all lost flavour and charm.
- Outright removal of several units to make them "Prime benefits." Atramentar shouldn't be a fucking Amazon bonus.
- Journals Tactica are too small, too sparse, and won't be enough to re-add the removed stuff in the 3-year cycle. Things will be left unfinished.

Actual Pardo is hyping on bashing 3.0 using "Fuck Pardo" slogan
>>96076925>>960797872/2
- Completely changing what rules do but keeping their names the same (Shred, prime example)
- "Wait for legacies." I'm not an idiot, I know we'll get some stuff back. But I also heard "Wait for the Libers", and look how that turned out. To fix what's been gutted, the Legacies PDF would be almost double or more the length of the Libers (excluding the fluff section)
- Limiting games to 4 turns
- I dislike the continuing model designs (partly the look of the armours themselves, mostly the sprue design/same 5 poses/2-hand-guns)
- Attacks modifier again. I've been waiting years for the game to accept "Maybe some weapons could attack more than others" in any meaningful way, and once again, we flub it.
- The formatting. Just... so awful. Columns in the worst places, gobbledegook that isn't precise, clear, or efficient, details split arbitrarily across a dozen different places.
There's a lot. There's a whole lot.
>>96079747No? LOS from what?

>>96079787>Not actually convinced there's any reason to take TSS over HSS againThose things shouldn't exist anyway: I can't fathom why modern audiences can't wrap their head around "special weapons in this squad can shoot at different targets than bolters
>>96079705You can also take the +1 to reserve rolls hqs I guess.
But with 4 turns you really can't afford to roll badly
>>96079833>0 chanceNo, there is a guaranteed day 1 Legacies document. The real issue is how much it fixes. Missing entries are all but guaranteed, but missing options are less likely. We really won't know until the 26th because GW didn't even send it to play testers. I don't know if it just wasn't done or they thought they could get away with it or they're doing damage control...
>>96079787>Not actually convinced there's any reason to take TSS over HSS againBro what? >>96079828>Wait for legaciesI keep hearing that but under the current lists how would that even work? One page for every loadout possible? Restoring everything marines lost from 2.0 CORE (not Legacies, Exemplary Battles, 1.0, or campaign books), would easily take up 100+ pages
>>96079853The missing units are easy, its just a datasheet. Praetor on bike, cent on bike are just datasheets. Options might be dead, if they want to get lazy and still grant them then a sentence or two about using the current costs for the items would suffice. Eg "If a unit is modeled with options previously available in 2nd edition, pay the appropriate points found elsewhere in the Liber and they unit may have those options." They dont need to hand hold every datasheet.

>>96079699they saw that it worked for 40k so they ported it over, i think it's a good change as melee is already hard enough in 3rd, playing on planet bowlingball would be a death sentence for my despoilers
I'm guessing GW will be dropping at minimum some hints/info about the legacies pdf and addressing the uproar in some fashion next week. They will have noticed the poor reception & disappointing pre-orders.
If they are smart, they will move quick to fix at least a significant part of the damage (and it is fixable, thankfully).
If they are retards and do nothing 3.0 will continue to sink.
Could someone post the Deredeo page? Thought I had it, but can't seem to find it.
>>96079863Its not, its medium, but the two opposing units are more than 3" away regardless of both being inside it, thus for medium they cant see each other. It really should be see in/out but not through. The janky shit you can do to be able to see an objective but not be seen back from other angles is wild. It also means you can see through corners of rectangular features.
chat, what do we think of the brass scorpion?
>>96079833Below zero. What everyone is seeing now is something that started 3 years ago with 2.0 and just now they are starting to see the full ramifications of. Nothing will change because GW won't change and I genuinely hope they lose a lot of cash from this but I know that it will be so little they won't even notice it and go back to their sad pathetic little vampiric ways of sucking the blood of the players before the year is over.
>>96079875the issue isnt obscuring, but the 3" clause. I too hated TLoS but 3" is jankfest.
>>96079878Yeah bro they're going to release as many profiles and wargear options as in an entire Liber book for free in a pdf
>>96079910The current one is 101 pages long, it wont be small
>>96079888I had understood we were getting generic automata profiles for them. If they are traitor locked then what's the difference from a demon engine?
>>96079878They aren't smart and don't move quickly.
>>96079923Here you go anon. Would anyone happen to have the Sabre page? That and jump pack praetorians are the latest ones I'm missing
Isn't it completely retarded that they released all of those special/ heavy/melee weapon boxes and then went out of their way to fuck every single person that used them outside of TSS and HSS? I'm sure shit like this violates consumers rights or something.

>>96079993>>96079998This is what people genuinely think GW is going to put in the legacies and when they will inevitably release without those they will just say they are coming in the journals.
>>96079878If they have any sense they'll post the legacies pdfs and some sort of statement first thing on Monday, right now they've got shills and discord mods as their de facto PR team which is just making things worse

>>96080025it's okay, anon, hh4 is only 36 months away and will fix everything, honest

>>96080026And? Like
>>96079873 says, they can add some sort of grandfather clause and and save themselves a ton of time. They dont need to spend a page to add options to every existing unit.
>>96080010What a disaster. HH has a base in Canada too which makes it worse. I know itโs dead in many euro countries because they never translated the rules.
>>96080036It'll be a journal every month till early 2028.
These journals will reprint fluff and occasionally bastadise something in the 1 or 2 pages of new content. Most will have 2-4 unit entries, 1 mission and 1 detachment.
Zm will get 1one.
Citifight will get one.
>>96080050My point was, where in 2.0 they had to add wargear via 5 profiles, in 3.0 they'd need everything I posted here
>>96079993, and all the legion units, and mechanicum, SA, etc. You don't see how bloating legacies by 40+ units, on top of the ~100 or so from 2.0, as well as all the EB units and the removed liber units might be a bit unlikely?
>>96078451>wont actually go into detail on WHY they're badbecause they know if they do they'll be called out for it by people who've actually played HH2 and know the existing rules, or who've read and understood the new rules better than you have
nothing worse than calling out a change only to find it's a front-end change and the underlying probability hasn't changed at all, or is actually more favorable like you suicidal faggots did with plasma going from AP2 to AP4 Breaching4+ and dropping its cost 25% - when did you think you were getting pens with S7 AP2? on a fucking rhino?
fact is nobody's played a game under these rules outside of the studio yet (can't imagine the made the same mistake of using outside playtesters again after that outer circle shite last time) and none of the reviewers wants to be the one who goes all-in on hating a game they haven't played only to find you all love it a month from now and the changes you feared actually work better, likewise they don't want to be sitting there throwing out bullshit macca-style suggestions about how their faction needs an S10 AP1 Damage 10 pistol for 1ppm to "fix" the "balance"

>>96080058GW haven't been able to consistently do 1 warcom post a month. 1 journal/month isn't happening.
>>96080021Yep, lets see if they are smart enough to do that.
Oh boy, I love having every bit of content that has been released being made incompatible and resold to me over course of three years, at the end of which the whole cycle starts again.
>>96080050>They dont need to spend a page to add options to every existing unit.If they'd kept jump packs, biks, jetbikes and terminator armour as wargear, they wouldn't need half the sheets we have. But this is 3.0, and we don't do that here.
>>96080073It only happens because they keep getting away with it. Worst part is they would rather cut 30k if it doesn't work to double down on doing it to 40k.
>>96080076This, as usual they add a problem that didn't exist before because people did certain things for a reason.

>>96080117Oh and mech are better at being True Believers than Word Bearers
>>96079966>>96079933in order to violate your rights you'd have to have a contract with GW that says they promised to do something they haven't done
what they've actually done is sold you some polystyrene and maybe some resin which you were given suggestions for assembly with but also told you can just use your imagination and collect as much as you like (it is after all just industrial runoff from oil production, the material itself has no intrinsic worth long-term once shaped and sold)
what you're experiencing here is called consequential loss; in order to prove breach of contract ("violating your rights") you need to prove that you suffered a loss (in this case, you're claiming a financial loss - but not for future purchases, as you're not required to continue playing this game and could probably even use your models in 40k without alteration given its current streamlined rules: your claim has to be for loss on the existing purchase, which is going to receive a reply of caveat emptor)
after proving you've suffered a loss you still need to prove that as a consequence of that loss (the breach of your imaginary contract with GW) you lost something else (again, this can't be money you're not required to spend), and that GW could have reasonably foreseen that loss (it's a business, selling you plastic crap and outdating your old crap is what it does, this has always been the business model since the 1980s) or that if they could not have reasonably foreseen that loss (which, again, is imaginary - caveat emptor ah! you should buy a 28mm warlord titan and name it caveat emptor!) that you notified them of it in a timely and reasonable fashion (dick pics and death threats are unreasonable and do not merit a response - they may even constitute blackmail when coupled with a demand or request)
you accepted the contract with GW (a simple sale) and they ceased to have any responsibility to you at point of sale/delivery

When the changes are less bad, people are less mad. It's that simple.
>>96080360The beakies too.

>>96080360>Libers were not as bad>Liber Mechanicum
>>96080372>The changes were significantly less severe>>96080379Reactions changed the game way more than the 3.0 changes. They've made challenges insuferable but aside from those and flyers, it's basically the same mechanically. Chainging reroll to wound for +1D or letting you shoot pistols when chargin/getting charged is not that bignof a difference.
95% of what people are complaining about for 3.0 are missing units and wargear. There's not that many complains about the game's mechanics aside from how retarded challenges can be
>>96080408Mechanicum was not available at launch, we had no idea how it was. And that was the topic chain, the LAUNCH of 2.0 vs 3.0
>>96080408Half the people in this thread were laughing at mechfags for getting nerfed because they were so strong in 1.0.
>>96080408He's talking about when 2.0 was released. Mech came several months after an already late release date along with the rest of the factions that got shafted.
>>96080408The main issue was the overuse of brutal on high S, low AP, weapons like hammers and dread fists in the marines books, while the NPC factions barely got that busted rule on anything worth a shit.
Mech's issues were also exacerbated by the changes to the WS, which ruined its internal balance, turning shooting from sth you were encouraged to do, to the only thing you can do decently.
>>96080067I cannot assert anything, anon - I'm not as full of myself as your average content creator :^)
What I can say is that I "believe", after running the numbers, that Safe mode plasma is useless and should not be used by anyone. Especially now it wounds terminators on a 3+.
I repeat: the gun that SHOULD, according to decades of fluff, counter terminators, just went a point of Strength down and they went a point of Toughness up. This after they doubled Wounds. Behind each of their Iron-Halo tier 4++ invulns.
You would be better off with the 1.0 AP2 Plasma you hate so much. Its only problem was a cost problem, which has been fixed...yet at the cost of gutting the weapon entirely.
The game can afford lots of AP2 because anyone with a 2+ save has multiple wounds, plus an invuln.
>>96080415>it's basically the same mechanically.I've posted several times why that's not the case, but I don't feel like repeating, so I'll just say you're wrong, and read back to see why.
>>96080450Nah, you just can't accept a couple special rules changing like it's the end of the world

Bait used to be believable
>>96080415it's a fundamentally different unfun game. Reactions are a big cancer but they're one cancer and 3E didn't cure that cancer either. New game melee is cancer, challenges are cancer, terrain is cancer, reactions are still cancer, heavy weapons are even more cancer with run and gun, removal of rapid fire is cancer, total imbalance of loadouts is cancer, loss of charge attacks is cancer, glancing status locking vehicles is cancer, removal of dual wielding so only 5% of units get the attack baked in is cancer, shooting-only-deepstrike is cancer, marines feeling fear from smallarms is cancer, and reactions are still cancer.
It was possible to house-rule HH2 in 1 page to fix it. It's going to take at least 5 pages to fix HH3.
>>96079439Bit too many status affects, but the game seemed alright.
>>96080460Yep. Special rules. You totally understand the people you disagree with and their arguments, rather than simply throwing out what you want their arguments to be because it's easier.
>>96080392lack of patience and unsteady hands are to blame
i can do pretty things when i don't drink
>>96080477* loss of sweeping is also cancer, and line of sight changes (see 1 model kill all 20) are cancer, and 4 turn game length is the biggest cancer ever (larger than reactions even)

>>96080477Sounds a lot like you are complaining about the game being less lethal than before. Which you would have probably been complaining if it was more as well
Idk what loadouts you are talking about. Internal balanced in 2.0 was fucking abysmal. It's much better now. Vehicles were borderline unuseable adn you could easily lose 3 predators to one HSS before
Vast mayority of melee units got +1 A baked in, not 5% of them
Auto charge deepstrike was absolutely retarded and so was having to drop all units at the same time
Moving heavy weapons are worse on vehicle or go on basic MEQ infantry that you don't want out of cover. New melee is identical aside from challenges
>>96079998Unironically I hope they don't re-add the Armistos. The Siege Breaker should be the guy who hangs out with the heavy weapon guys and provides his LoS for artillery. They even made him the only guy with a Cognis Signum.
I wish he could swap his hammer for a heavy gun, though.

>>96080557Nah, I liked it a lot more when they showed it off without all the extra bling on it and showed it could have the big axe. Honestly I like the saturnine stuff, but most of the time they just look bad because people paint them in that aids eavy metal style and also because people pose them retardedly. >Saturnine puts the dreadnought in tactical dreadnought armour.
>>96080632We don't have the exact details, but the pilots need to be latent psykers and have high resistance to cybernetic augmentation, so odds are they get nugget'd and pilot it with wires jacked into their brains. What is firestorm? Am I just missing a page from the angel's tears rules?
>>96080686Rending is now an auto-wound on the hit roll that counts as having rolled a 6 for the to wound roll, but breaching is still the same.
>>96080686Rending is an automatic wound counting as a 6 for other special rules
Breaching resolves the woumd at ap2 but doesn't automatically wound
>>96080691Firestorm lets you volley fire at full BS and you can choose not to resolve the charge after
Wait, can someone check the power armored command squad entry? I don't remember seeing them being able to take combat shields. So their new plastic box might be an illegal loadout.
>>96080691Firestorm allows the unit to shoot Volley fire before charging/getting charged at full BS rather than snap shots. Also allows them to choose not to follow through with the actual charge after having shot.
>>96080686Rending is on hit, auto wound counts as a 6 to trigger other rules like breaching. Talons Auto wound at AP2 on 6s to hit with +1I
>>96080700Praetor command squads can have combat shields
>>96080702Allows the model to fire at full BS
>>96080715You got the saturnine command squad page?
>>96080725No, that one has been announced to be in the second tactica journal. It requires kitbashing, so it's not in the libers.
>>96080667>pilots need to be latent psykersIt's a bit of machine affinity. Like IRL when printers and other machinery act up, but they calm down when someone with The Skill comes by to chek, you know? Like that. It's the kind of shine you might not know you have.

How do you build a list for 30k? I don't mean the new FOC, I mean what considerations you have when designing a well rounded list.
Why can't Warsmiths wear Saturnine armor? I thought they were smart.
>>96080715Oh my God, they lost boarding shields in addition to the mount options...
>>96080445I have personally said from the start of HH2.0 3 weapons i think should change are plasma, Power sword and Power axe
Plasma: Should be AP3 base, Breaching 4+
Power sword should be AP3 Breaching 4+
Power axe: Should be AP2 with a rule that makes you swing at -1 init, turning it into a niche weapon designed to be anti SV2 TH/PF wielding targets.
>>96080557Melee versions look fine, but the gun ones look off, their arms are to subby. If the weapons were like the terminator weapons where you see them holding the grip and trigger and see their fist it would be fine.
>>96080715No thunder shields?
>>96080735Take 2 units of 20 tacticals and spam the highest damage weapons available. Don't listen to what anyone else tries to bullshit you about statuses or maneuverability, you know what's an even better debuff? Death. With monstrous creatures and high toughness no longer saving you from multi damage there's literally no reason yo not spam as many meltas and thunder hammers you can take
>>96080738Warsmiths are handpicked by Perturabo and so are retarded. They lack the psychic potential of a fully soulful being.
>>96080657Boxnaughts are more justified, they are a burnt crispy little nugget so they fit in there.
>>96080735How i do it.
>Read lore>Find a unit/idea i think is fucking cool>Find out what units would make that list possibly work>Find the strongest unit in the list and buff it with combos>Run the list.
>>96080699>>96080702>at full BS rather than snap shots.Wait, doesn't Implacable Advance do that too? Allows you to Volley Fire with non Assault guns, also at full BS?
I'm eyeing Tyrants up for that reason wow
>>96080715The double column under Options is fucking with me. It's somehow making it more difficult to read the plain text.
>>96080732>It requires kitbashing, so it's not in the libers. If the weapon packs don't count for that I really don't get why they removed so many weapon options if they were covered by them.
>>96080735I just collected the units that I thought are cool.
>>96080750What about Iron Fathers?
>>96080755No implacable advance let's you fire any non-heavy or non-ordnance weapons and volley, you still have to snap shot with them
>>96080752I don't think drop pod assaults are possible now...
>>96080745Breaching 4+ power sword? Ah, going from the old "Power weapons ignore armour saves" rule?
>>96080755No, implacable is just volley with heavy and ordo, slow and purposeful you cant keep a fleeing unit locked with you.
>>96080755nope, Implacable advance allow you to use any (non heavy) weapon for volley fire.
Firestorm allow you to do volley fire at full BS, also allow you to voluntary not complete the charge after volley fire without consequence
>>96080763They know better than to trust that monkey, Vulkan.
>>96080745>Power sword breaching 4+>Wound roll required to wound marines: 4+Just make it AP 2 at that point.
>>96080763They can't even wear gorgon armor, no shit they can't wear saturnine.
>>96080758Probably because a lot of those resin consul models aren't exactly compatible with the plastic melee weapon upgrade kit. At least not without some conversion work.
>>96080770>>96080783>>96080788Aww. Well, Tyrants are still fine. I was just so eager to use them in a really aggressive manner lol. Storm the breach!!
>>96080654It does! And no dolphin porn to boot! Many thanks anon!
>>96080803Don't worry just wait for the tactica with the warsmith aggressor that has full wargear options including things even centurions don't get and gives firestorm and +1 BS to units they join :^). That'll be 30 dollars please.
>>96080755575 points for AP3 shooting with no breaching/rending/critting. And if you try to volleyfire it's snapshots and then you fail your charge because enemy increases the charge distance each kill, then enemy is so close on their turn they move up and charge within setup range so you can't shoot their chargers.
Siege tyrants are turbo-garbage in HH3

Neat.
>>96080755>40 str 5 breaching 6 shots and 40 bolter shots at 24" rangeThat's a lot of dakka.
rape feels good. therefore GW raping HH is a good thing
>>96080825Where is that helmet from?
>>96080825The model already feels like it belongs in 40k so I guess it fits.
>>96080826That's the lowest amount of dakka you can possibly get for 575 points in the game. S5 AP6 Breaching 6+ is an absolute joke and they only hit on 3+ with bad BS and can't melee for a shit with 4WS
>>96080839I think the dark imperium terminator chaos lord (no I'm not calling it by their retarded new GW name)
>>96080557This isn't helping my desire to make it into a Lord of Contagion for 40K.
>>96080825better paintjob than mine
>>96080557Again, it looks like a 40k model so if you like it the FW style being memoryholed is on you.
>>96080851Lord of Contagion. Say his name.
>>96080817>no breaching3 Breaching 6 shots. And now Storm Bolters are nice. And now they can get Combis.
>>96080755 They did lose Pinning on their missiles though, they halved their Krak shots and their Omniscope is now an extra, and is different :((
>enemy increases the charge distance each killI was thinking about this
>>96077978. Cataphractii WILL fail that charge, volley or not. If you are 10" away, I suppose you should declare a charge, move ONE inch, roll a 6 and fail the charge anyways. Volley fire, too bad it's only with storm bolters :/
Would 2d6 charges be really that oppressive, in the 5+ Volley Overwatch edition?
>>96080828This is the most convincing shill argument I've heard for 3.0's quality so far.
>>96080872they only breach on the low BS, low strength, low AP low damage shots that don't harm 2+ armor OR 3+ armor.
575 points of missiles is only dealing 5.4 wounds with missiles and 2.2 wounds from bolters against T4 2+, and if they have 4++ it's 6 total woundsd instead of 7.5 for 575 points.
In a 4-turn game that's 303 points total damage if the enemy never kills any of them, with a 575 point garbage unit.
>>96080851As far as nu-names go his is pretty tame. He could have been Pustulent Slurpity Slop Smegma Fucker, lord of the a thousand and 1 boils.
I think I have to join the copers. If you can't even ally marines with your knights, and I think I remember hearing no allying legion + legion, there has to be a lot getting added back by supplement or pdf.
>>96080917Each legion is its own faction, so you totally can ally different legions with each other. Since there is no limit to allied detachment you can basically play shattered legions.
>>96080931>you can basically play shattered legions.Technically yes, though allies can only make up half of your total points cost, so you run into the problem where one of the legions will be way more under represented than the other two.
This is still better than 10th 40k.
>>96081010Not an achievement.
So are Praetors now just stuck taking sword or axe since those are the ones sold?
>>96081010May as well be happy that you were only mutilated and crippled in car accident instead of being killed.
>>96079319>100 points for a ten man squadDo they really cost as much as tac marines or am I missing something?
Doesn't change a thing about shit rules, worse editing and invalidating peoples armies.
>>96081047That's ridiculous.
>>96081047Surely they just made the tac squad cost more anon
>>96081036Yup. All options gone.
Anyone got a link for all the generic SM unit ? Or at least Tactical Support Squad ?
>>96081036No. They have everything same with centurion and opate
>>96081010>better than 10th 40kYou better tell me what is NOT better than 10e.
>>96081100Okay, nice, so I can continue my plan to turn the AoD Sword Praetor into a different loadout.
>>96079910They could claim incompetence.
>Oh yeah u guise we totally meant to give all the Consuls access to the Legion Officer equipment list there was just a mixup with the layout software, our bad! Here's a day 1 FAQ...Whether they will? I doubt it. I don't even think they will accept or acknowledge the backlash, it'll almost certainly be dismissed as "just the usual suspects having a whinge" and even if it isn't, their egos won't allow them to pretend what was clearly an intentional decision is a mistake that needs correcting. 3.0 is dead, deceased, formerly alive, a collection of doornails, an ex-tabletop wargame.
>>96081047>feel no pain>toughness 5>highest possible cool>expendableI mean there is an arguement to be made for why it's the case. I think because AP3 is so much more prevelant too it kind of makes them more worthwhile
>>96081047I guess gw really does just want you to buy thallax.
SA with some Tactical squad allies seems like the way to go
>>96081047That faggot at the HH team who kept charging his dreads and termies into the tech zombie tarpits during 1.0 still hasn't moved on I see.
>>960811048th 40gay and AoS 1.0 pre GHB. Those 3 are the probably the worst rulesets ever made. Though AoS1.0 at least was interesting, because your brain was never really able to fully comprehend it and whether the entire thing wasn't just an elaborate troll. 8th was a hilarious cope fest, imagine HH3.0 without any leaks.
>>96081104Kill Team 2nd edtion and onwards
>>96081027>>96081040I'll take any victory I can after 8 years of pr*maris.
>>96081119It's partly the opposite. Knowing a full box of 20 was only 100 points was putting people off.
new player here, how do I know which armor mark to get for my legion?
>>96081179This is some really retarded cope you've come up with threadshitter-kun.
Have a (you).
>>96081193>New playerDon't, just don't
>>96081193All legions used all armour marks; though some legions might have had preferences for certain marks, none of them were stupid enough to not use any particular mark if they were pressed to. Armour mark accuracy more so comes down to supplies and logistics than preferred tastes. If you really wanna be accurate you can read the entries for each armour mark in the 2.0 rule book which will list some legions for each armour entry. What particular legion caught your interest so far anon?
>>96081228I'm torn between EC and NL at the moment, leaning towards EC because the swordsmen are cool.
>>96081239for both legions you want mk4 and 6
Ironicallt they also both have really amazing 40k kits you can also use
>>96081047Can easily bump them to t6.
Techpriests can battlesmith new ones into existence above starting and max unit sizes.
Give up few vp if somehow destroyed.
Impossible to shift off an objective due to 40 of them and essentially immune to psychology.
If you can find a way to give it to them, lacrymaerta prime advantage to give them two wounds.
>>96081239Do not listen to that guy, the EC 40k models are primaris sized and don't fit 30k at all.
>>96081239EC were one of the better supplied legions since they were in the good books with Horus, so mk4 and mk6 armour was very much attainable. Those marks were also complementary to the dynamic nature of their style of warfare compared to the heavier mk2 and mk3. NLโs are in the same boat, though theyโd definitely have more mk5 running around because of the whalloping they took on thramas and being fairly splintered and isolated.
The Space Wolves Caster of Runes has Hatred (Psykers). That's pretty funny.
And one power is to use a reaction point to make the unit shooting his unit snap fire which is decent.
At least I got one laugh out of the massacre.
>>96080067How can one anon be so wrong?
>>96080632>Hell, it's bigger than a Boxnought. That's because the boxnaught model is fucked beyond repair. A TrueScale one is 63mm high, and will then fit perfectly.
>>96081163I miss AoS 2e. Spearhead is fun tho.
>>96081165>8th 40gay and AoS 1.0 pre GHB. Those 3 are the probably the worst rulesets ever made.8e was great without codices. The game was unironically dope when we had indices only and shit was actually balanced for once. AoS 1e on the other hand was kino.
>>96081171With this one I can agree.
>>96081267They are the exact same size as CSM and 30k marines though.
>>96081294>8e was great without codices.>No templates, avs, cover saves and shit awful rending APNo.
>>96081193The one you think looks the most cool.
>>96081209Thallax, ยฃ47.50 a box of 6, which is ~250+ points
Tech Thralls, ยฃ47.50 for a box of 20, which is 75 points.
750pts of Thallax is 3 boxes, just shy of ยฃ150.
750pts of Tech Thralls is 10 boxes, ยฃ475.
People take that into account.
>>96081310>No templatesI just told you I liked it back then, you don't need to sell it to me.
>>96081298Stole this off google.
>>96081333This one too. They are just much bigger than the normal beakies. If you put them next to the models that we've had for 10+ years it's even worse.
>>96081277Thereโs a lot of funny little rules things like that
>Lorgar being the only traitor primarch to have Hatred (Loyalists)>Pertโs gambit to tell his mates to just gun the cunt down whoโs challenging him>NLโs gambit to swap some random asshole in his place in a duel>Frag Grenades are actually useable weapons for charges instead of just being a way to avoid disordered charges
>>96081333>>96081298>>96080632>>96080489Yall niggas need to learn to use minicompare

>>96081382People want accurate answers, or they'd just take some random pics and put them side by side... which is all minicompare is.
>>96081364The IW gambit is absolutely worthless, but I find it really funny. Just strapping a bunch of grenades to yourself so the guy that kills you explodes.
>>96081400i mean what's a more legit answer that putting them next to each other?
>>96081407Having the actual models irl next to each other, not two different pics from internet at a different scale.
>>96081333>>96081349Huh, first time seeing the new EC models. Those tactical looking fellas don't actually look too bad
>>96081407Putting actual models together. Thus eliminating the issue of angle, distance, and other issues.
>>96081349>>96081333Troonscalers made these models.
>>96081477my conspiracy theory is that they're trying to slowly retire the primaris stuff and reintroduce old school marines in a bigger scale
>>96081488Where's the conspiracy ? Of course that is what they do.
>>96081505well then im glad im not the only one who sees it
>>96081488I can't imagine them retiring what was certainly some faggot suit's good-idea-fairy.
>>96081534It's Goodwin's brainchild.
>>96081534idk they're already retiring half the stormcast range and it's not that much older
>>96081488They dont even need to retire it, just slowly mesh older mks into the units like they did with the Space Wolves and make everything not MkX power armor and it will look fine.
>>96081549Yeah, they are. I have no response to that.
>>96081329not liking templates is a redflag for being low IQ.
>>96081488That's already started.
My unironic not a shitpost theory is that we're only like two or three editions away from Extremis Marines.
The Primaris roster is already bloated as hell, and they've already started bluring the lines between manlets and primaris with Scouts and Terminators. The new Sterngaurd Vets and Space Wolf units include MKVII and MKVI bits to further blur the line.
Assuming that they stick to the current patern of two big Space Marine release waves for every edition of 40k then eventually they'll have nothing left but to do Primaris 2: Even Bigger Marines or girl marines, maybe both Resculpts clearly don't sell as well as new units or we wouldn't even have Primaris in the first place and it's not like they can just stop releasing new marines without shareholders rioting.
My money is on it happening in 13th edition but if they do a new tactical squad in the 11th ed launch box then it might as soon as 12th.
Do we have Combat Shield rules somewhere?
Cheers,
Pissboy
>>96080808Glad it worked. Thanks for the Wilph files!
