Possibilities:
1. You picked a colour that was too jarring, mix with a bit of the armour's local colour to be closer and not do such a big jump.
2. Highlight is too thick. If it's too thick it stops registering as a highlight and instead registers as a brushstroke.
3. Hightlight paint wasn't thinned enough. They look the best when it's slightly thinned and a little bit translucent so the jump isn't as massive again.

Not my picture, but this was what I was following as I had a base layer of Kabalite Green. I liked the colour, and then looked online for what to use as a highlight - every video and thread said to use Sybarite Green. The colour is fine, but they're irregular and too thick. Thin the paint a bit more, those kind of mint colours tend to be very thick due to the pigment used. If you still think they're too bright you can glaze over them, but they're fine really, it's a case of tunnel vision because you're looking at it so up close.

Never drybrush over flat panels, it never turns out well. If you're worried about not having the pulse for it a neat trick is to use thinned down paint and glaze the highlights, it will take you longer but they will also naturally blend due to the irregular layers.
As for the second part, the eye isn't really that good that it can see a bunch of miniatures and detect that one has a 1.05:1 mix and the other a 1.15:1 mix. It will look fine.

I kept thinking inner circle companions weren't all that good but a unit of 6 with a judiciar actually hit like a truck. I'm doing wrath of the rock so the judiciar gets the ancient weapons update and they can basically kill any vehicle up to an armiger or a PBC and will easily dispose most elite infantry. They can even kill 3 deathshrouds despite being a nightmare profile for them.
It's weird because I didn't expect measly S6 AP-2 D2 weapons to perform that well.

Is a normal sorcerer better as an all rounder for TSons because the lethal hits will help if I bump into something with hight toughness?

Whose the better melee dex rn: Vanilla CSM or World Eaters? I know WE specialize in it, but I also know GW can't into balance and game design

I unironically think GW should balance the titan rules better so warhounds are actually playable with their 1100 points, release a plastic version, then add secutarii infantrymen to back them up and give them some flavour (army has 3 playstyles- have your princeps leading secutarii directly from the front as an infantry/little robot swarm, have him in his titan leading a secutarii swarm or have one bigger titan like a warbringer or reaver vs. the enemy army) obviously the third playstyle would require some homebrew or 3000 point onslaught or whatever but whatever. I like the squat chunkiness of the boxnaughts, Dreads in general seemed to do a good job bridging the size gap between footsoldiers and tanks, which makes sense because they are basically halfway between a man and a tank. The new Ballistus is more on the big mech end of the spectrum I feel like.

I've been basecoating with the "recess shade" color and drybrushing the "main" color until I'm happy with it.

Because it didn't represent what a Terminator is actually supposed to be. Terminator armour is supposed to be incredibly hardy and shrug off nearly all small arms fire. When a squad of lasgun-wielding Guardsmen can reliably kill half a squad of Terminators, the Termies are not fulfilling their fantasies.
This lead to most of midhammer (5th/6th/7th) having Terminators as glass cannons that had to hide in Land Raiders or become invisible to actually do anything.

The way it is now is that Terminators can die from an overwhelming amount of lasgun shots, not just a single lucky one from a bunch of guardsmen, and dedicated heavy weapons like anti-elite guns do proper damage to them.

I've been pretty inconsistent with it but at present I use a mix of AP Mummy Robes and Daemonette Hide. Used to use pallid wych flesh instead of the mummy robes but I had a couple bad pots in a row where the stuff came out like cottage cheese and was really stubborn about mixing smooth so I swore it off. I shade with druchii violet, usually thinned out with shade medium, then build back up to almost a pure mummy robe highlight.

Across the various generations of hybrids + purestrains, I vary the mix of the two colors. 1st and 2nd gens get more daemonette hide mixed in, purestrains are mostly daemonette hide, aberrants are somewhere in between depending on what part of their body I'm painting.

Unironically Space Marines or Chaos Space Marines. They are never actually bad, have a ton of different play styles and lots of unique flavor you can inject into them based on what you like. They get the most new release and have the most diverse ways to play. They also have the largest models.

Runners up are Necrons and Tyranids. All 3 are easy to paint as well.

If you pick Votann, for example, the range is so small everyone's army is the exact same.

If you pick Sisters, Genestealers or Admech you will burn a hole in your wallet and run out of money (assuming you are middle class or below) before having an army. Also they are difficult to paint as they have tons of infantry models which is the fastest way to reach hobby burnout.
