I see alot of negging stories, but I had a super fun friday at an eceleb event in austin. won a borderless sliver gravemother.
Game #1
>Playing Terra FF summon deck, have bridge of death out
>guy says he's going to win on his turn
>ask him 'what is your name?', 'What is your quest?' "uhhh what quest?"
>cast ripples of potential, proliferate terra -> sacrifice bridge to nothingness and destroy him
>immediately die the next turn
Game #2
>one guy is so excited about pic rel that he wants to proxy it in his bello deck
>turn 3, guy shits out a hasted lifelinked jumbo cactuar, has 10k life
>game is a slog 1v3 but bello now has so many damage doublers fires a kamehameha of 100k+

>>96084359Plus any sac outlet. I aint saying its incredible, but its the only one I know off the top of my head because its one I use.
>>96084385It is one of those "wow this works way better in an online setting" commanders. Enjoy making the table wait while you count half your deck for your self-traumatize, or repeatedly check your giant graveyard for responses. It requires you to do tedious shit like count your deck or constantly count stuff in your graveyard. Your deck cares about the number of a certain thing in a giant pile, so plan to count a lot and I suggest some dice so you can just set them there and always keep track of the amount of non-land, non-creatures in your graveyard.
I got sick of counting shit and making the table wait while I counted up 40 cards. The deck wins but I never feel great playing it because it is a chore.

https://archidekt.com/decks/14304302/screams_from_the_sky
>>96084384I can get why people might hate Sephiroth since it can effectively shut down people having creatures, but what's wrong with the Emperor? I figure some extra combat shenanigans, lots of spells/enchantments and probably milling myself til he swings for BIGLY damage
>>96084407I find my Golbez often wins and can really get the engine going since he's both low cost and his ability can turn any kind of mass filtering into a wincon. Almost every game I've won with him have been brought about through his own abilities, but there are also combo wins in the deck for obvious reasons
https://archidekt.com/decks/13425334/crystal_collection
Artifacts are a very fun archetype
>>96084431It's the tedious manual aspects of paper that make Emperor annoying. You will be spending time counting 30+ cards as you go through a pile of like 60. And you will likely do this frequently if you don't write it down and keep good track of it. And when traumatizing you need to
>count your deck>then count half of it again to millit takes time and the table sits there while you roleplay the count from sesame street
>>96084416You sound retarded anon im sorry.
>countYes sometimes mill has to count takes 30 seconds.
>repeatedly>hmmm last turn i had 5 cards in the graveyard that met the requirement and I've only played one spell since then hmmmmmm I better recount
>>96084452Well anon go ahead and build it if you want. You got your warning.
>>96084443Hm. Maybe Shantotto could be more fun then, or just go for gold and build Vivi as another strong deck.
>>96084474You also better have a way to somehow spend like 12 mana on turn 3. Because the second your opponents know what you have they are never fucking letting the guy flip ever. And in my pod everyone runs edicts, so protection means little.
The deck can win without him, though.
>>96084474I've been planning to build Shantotto, mostly because her name is fun to say, and I'm not sure she could be a 4. No evasion for swinging, needing to actually spend big mana for her to do things, and the pump not increasing toughness are all stark reminders that she's an uncommon.
I'm planning for her to be a well tuned 2, maybe a 3.
>>96084521Yeah, maybe I'll commit resources to putting Kuja up to 4, then lower my expectations of Shantotto down to 2-3. Anything in particular you plan to run? I figure she could benefit from extra combats and stuff that gives double strike as well, like Berserker's Onslaught giving her +5/+0 and Double Strike when she swings, so suddenly it's 5/4 Double Striker, or even more.
Man Izzet is hard. I can't seem to get into a comfy idea with any of the commanders lmao
>>96084503That also makes sense, he does seem like he draws hate really easily and the need to get him to flip through his own method which can take up to 3 spells might be a bit much.
>>96084412>vampire insectHow does that even work? Did a Mosquito bite a vampire?
>>96084549Well, since he's a giant beetle, I guess a vampire bit him.

holy SHIT is this real?
>>96084535>Anything in particular you plan to run?No really. At this point it's just a pile of some 150ish "izzet cards I own" with a bias towards 4 cost spells. There might be a little treasure sub theme since that appears to be what I've mostly got for ramp, but I'm not wanting to go too hard on that since I already have a treasure focused Ziatora. I could end up going more towards a storm deck for the higher end of power, only pumping her up one power at a time but digging through the deck with cantrips before a big finish with Kediss.
I'm not much for izzet either. I tend towards golgari combinations or mono color.
>>96084632Hmm, well, that makes sense to me. Storm is probably the most "izzet" way to do anything, and I never get into the spellslinger lifestyle really. I usually go for Dimir, Esper, or Grixis. Maybe Azorious would be fun, I don't remember if FF got anything cool on that front.
>>96084628People tend to build new commanders. I don't need to build Trostani from 2012. I did that 13 years ago.

As someone that's never built a manabase, but doesn't want to spend several hundred to keep up with his group, what's the best place to buy proxies that pass that sniff test?
Don't need the dual lands or anything like that, but buying fetches/shocks/etc is just too much of an investment when I'm only going to play twice a month at most.
>>96083704"Is a commander" is a property of the specific copy you start with in the command zone. What creature on the battlefield is a commander or what zone your commander is in is public game knowledge, even if it's face down on the battlefield or in exile. If, in the case of just Cid right now, you have multiple copies of the same creature as your commander, those other copies are not also your commander and they must be identifiable as such.

Working on a yugioh themed deck and need suggestions for cards in Naya that have functionally identical or close enough effects to iconic yugioh cards. So far I've got Faithless Looting for Graceful Charity and Wheel of Fortune for Card Destruction.

>>96085065Nice call on Harmonize and Aether Membrane.
Doesn't feel right having a Blue-Eyes that isn't white in the art. That's one I've been trying to figure out, and I'll probably have to compromise.
Also it's not a specific card, but I've got a few of the red redirect effects for Mystical Refpanel. Thinking about Phyrexian Dreadnought for tribute summons.
>>96085095rorix is a joke that blue-eyes is just a big vanilla monsters. unfortunately there's not really any white dragons? at least, the couple that are white do weird stuff like timeless/eternal dragon. there's alabaster dragon, I guess, he does the least.
also ainok survivalist/nantuko vigilante for trap master. warp world, or to be slightly more reasonable if less accurate, collision of realms for morphing jar 2. 1 seems to have to be magus of the wheel.
also I don't actually know which ones are "iconic yugioh cards."
How do you guys beat the bots and scalpers when secret lairs go live?
>>96085023>>96085095I assume you have Mass Hysteria and Concordant Crossroads to give everything haste. Anger and Enduring Courage will be useful for giving your shit haste too.
Brave the Sands will give all your creatures vigilance and allow them to block an additional creature each turn. Serra's Blessing will just give them vigilance.
I don't really know of any cards that will force everyone to block all the time. Green has a bunch of creatures and end of turn effects that must be blocked but I don't think they're very good.
As for a white dragon, maybe Ancestor Dragon??? Since it's the biggest white dragon I can find on Scryfall. But personally pic related looks kinda cool

>>96088090Oh shit its real what the fuck
>>96088092>more than an hour wait I know itโs bots and pokemon resellers but I also want to yell at the Mexicans
Can I run Cecil in monoblack?
>>96088125lol im Mexican and I do love Sonic , im not a furry but I would pic related. My cue was less than 45 min.
>>96088126No. The white pip on the left side of the card type box counts for color identity.
>>96088074I understand the feeling. I haven't had to play with them, but I know some people can be painful to talk about the game with.
>Changeling means it can be any creature I want>3 color commander that's five colors to run a pet card>treating Kindred Dominance as an enchantment>Demonic Tutor is useless>the deck that took 13 turns to beat me 1v1 was an extremely fast high power aggro deck>Sol Ring is bad because I can play an eight mana eldrazi that makes two scions instead
>>96088092Been waiting for almost an hour now, still have โmore than an hourโ wait
>>96088126Yes. Rule 0 it in and its legal
>>96087917why would they? give one (1) good reason from wotc perspective
>>96088090>>96088112>look at this $100+ chase card!>please please PLEASE buy EOE packs!!!!!!it's comical how desperate they are to bring EOE sales into the same neighborhood as FF
>>96088194Yes I'm sure they knew how much FF would sell when they started developing this set several years ago
>>96088194>add value to a set I was gonna buy packs for anywayNice, thanks WoTC. If only stations weren't dogshit
>>96088062At this point it feels like they're e coordinating with the scalpers
>>96088201They probably knew it would sell extremely well, and I doubt bonus sheet reprints are determined at the beginning of development
Playing mill is the spirit of the format.
You're required to have a maximum of 99 cards in your library so mill players can't be countered by running more cards in your library.
The deck size requirement is so mill players have a consistent number of cards they know they'll need to mill every game.
Mill is a pillar of EDH's soul.
>>96088126no, he's W/B
also it's pronounced "SESS-ill" not "SEES-ill"
>>96088090Iโm only buying the one with the spooky ghost art and not this stupid shit . Reprint is losers
>>96087832Should proxy secret lairs anyways, its incredibly hostile business practice that should not be rewarded.
>>96087951A meaningless limit, why on earth would it not just be... one! You dont need two versions of a secret lair.
>>96088237https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YdrZxdQvH0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U18Bb6EPYPg starting at 4:00
>>96088194Im glad because i was gunna buy this box anyway and the main sets seems much better than Ff
>check ebay for the fuck of it
>already selling thr sonic set for double and even triple the price
You can't hate scalpers enough
I don't really mind proxying, but I would never proxy a card myself unless it's a temporary proxy while I'm acquiring the real deal. Feels like I've been indoctrinated by WotC over the past 25 years, when the smart thing to do would be selling the collection and proxying fun decks (especially considering the shitshow that is WotC nowadays)
>>96088344Hate them? They're doing more against the faggot UBsloppers and autismos than I do posting here about it lol.
>>96088299FF has bad art, bad mechanics and awful flavor in the context of MTG. The draft environment sucked and overall its just been awful for the secondary market. EOE is surprisingly refreshing, good art overall enjoyable mechanics lots of unique interesting cards that make sense in magic. Looking like the best of the year so far
>>96088453Screenshot is actually art of a real card lol. I thought this set was supposed to have good art? Outside of the very recognizable main characters (and even then) the vast majority of the art in this set is subpar. The special guests arent even new pieces. Lazy as fuck
>>96087737I'm honestly more surprised Sonic of all things has a secret lair. Something like Witcher wouldn't surprise me, and Marvel getting money makes sense, but Sonic seems way out there
>>96082650still mad how raped all these were
