The actual video is irrelevant, the man is just some old punk rock degenerate talking about the old days, but one thing he said stuck out to me.
When he was young the apartment buildings didn't have locks on their front doors. Anyone could just walk right into an apartment building and go directly to knock on anyone's door.
There was once a time in this country, that wasn't even that long ago, that you could just walk into an apartment building without being buzzed in and socialize with the people in it, and this was wiped away so absolutely by the realities of minority criminals behavior that the very idea seems ridiculous. "Of course an apartment building has to have a lock on its front door, and visitors have to be screened by interchangeable and buzzed in, how else are you going to keep hoodlums, vagrants and junkies from hanging around in the hallway and stairwells?".
