There are a ton of cool miniatures out there. There's no reason to pigeonhole yourself unless you really dig the models.
Am I the only one who find 4' too narrow of a playing surface?
The games are almost always fairly predictable in how the general lack of manouverability. Even just an extra foot, I've found, make for a much different and (subjectively) enjoyable.
I play dwarfs, often with little to no artillery and minimal BS shooting, but I like the added space. this gives me and my opponent's cavalry. It makes for much more "strategic" games and allows for longer plays with deployment of things like rangers and miners.

Had these three thrown into a 3D printing job for free I had commissioned, just got to do the eyes properly and then I’m happy with them.
Had to greenstuff the guy on the right with a messed up face as he was missing half of it. Looking forward to trying out both a master Moulder and a pack master in my 26 giant rat unit for mounted character challenging shenanigans.
My logic is as follows: since mounts won’t get to attack for overkill, I feed them a master Moulder and they win only by +3-+4
Giant rats generate +3 cr. 2 ranks, close order.
With the rule change they won’t benefit from infantry outnumber as only 1-2 models are infantry in the unit correct?
How does that work for the expanded fighting press rule. Does a pack master/mm become able to attack from 3rd rank, since rats fight in 2 ranks, he has fight in extra rank and is involved in press of battle?
What does everyone think?
>>96110349Is this bait or GW™ brand copium?
>>96110485>>96110493I know you may not believe it, but Perry figs are ugly as sin. Most historical models are ugly as sin because they are hand sculpted. >>96110492Sorry to intrude on this ritualistic shitposting which happens every thread but to clarify this is the rules interaction I’m wondering about:
ToW
Giant rats are war beasts with fight in extra rank.
Pacmaster/mm are inf. That must always be placed in the rearmost rank. They have fight in extra rank on their weapons.
Does a pack master inside a giant rat unit gain any rules for being an infantry?
Massed ranks: probably, but irrelevant.
Fighting press: I don’t know the answer here, if he does gain the benefit of being infantry he can technically attack from the third rank? Sort of like an off brand spearman.
If he does not gain the benefit he can only use his attack in the 2nd or first rank.
It’s honestly doing my head in. He’s not even good at attacking I just think it’d be neat if he got to hit one thing before his rats gets minced.

>>96109021>plastic kits for tilea and estaliaI have missed that specific rumour. Either they have a lot of confidence in TOW to think these plastic kits specifically might sell or this might be some exec's passion project (based if it is). In all likelihood this is probably a mixture of fake and gay misinformation plus the conversation turning from "I wonder if the Tilean section of DoW comes back" to "they will release southern realms in plastics!!!"
>>96109200Half my army is from Warlord's landsknecht range (halbs, gunboys and the greatswords), the other half an assortment of Oldhammer, ex-GW and the Empire Knights and Empire Archers from the modern range, and all of those miniatures work really well combined. Same size and roughly the same style, and I would say that the less ape-esque Warlord minis work better as state troops aesthetically than GW's.
Outside of James' shops (of which there are nine in my entire country) I doubt you'd run into any issues on using proxies, atleast in Europe. The hobby store in my city is associated with GW but most of the hobbyists proxy to some extend for any of the GW games.
I've been wondering whether that brand loyalty insistence is a specific American cultural quirk thanks to their consumerist hellhole, as the only people I've seen insisting that we consoom from GW specifically are Americans.

I'm not a fan of Perry's sculpts as proxies for Warhammer specifically, but they go far beyond the rank-and-apes that GW is currently selling for Empire. Reposting the leaks from last thread because why not:
Sup fa/tg/rogs, I come bearing alleged Friday preview news:
The next two Arcane Journals will be: The War for Westerland, featuring Miao Ying's Jade fleet, Manann's Blades and a fucking weird Fimir centric AoI. The 2nd will be AJ: Dogs of War, with two new plastic kits
The Jade fleet contains every Cathay unit bar sentinels, and loses the elemental winds (Yin and Yang) rule to fight in an extra rank. Jade lancers aren't core, so good luck painting infantry! 30% mercenary allowance, with Empire captains, lvl 2 wizards, state troops, missile state troops, free company, pistoliers, ogres and Manann's Blades all in there. Suspect this list is gonna be how most people play Cathay. There's also an admiral special character (no model shown, guess he's coming later), who's a roguish, swashbuckler type, who's been living in the Old World for years, who lets you reroll misbehaving mercenaries, can give mercs his leadership, and can also force enemy mercs to fail their misbehaving rolls (bribery). Curiously he can also be mounted in a sky lantern.
Lore is that Marienburg is so under pressure with Norse and Fimir raids that Miao Ying has put it under her protection, whether the Marienburgers want it or not.
Full set of new Cathayan items my source didn't know about
Manann's Blades are the old kit, with the arms recast in resin. You can take as many units as you like, and they can be armed with hw&s, halberds or handguns. Come with heavy armour and at 9 points per model, can be bought pistols for the lulz. Greatsword statline with bs4, drilled, plus ambush or vanguard, these guys are basically Royal Marines and what vet state troops should have been. Special choice for Empire, suspect they're gonna see a lot of play, esp with the special character
Running out of text, more in next post
Man this board is going to be so shit tomorrow.
>>96110790I varnish anything with speed paint or metal parts because we all know metal models fall off the table first; the speed paint side always is the place it lands.
>>96110802contd
Manann's Blades special character, again no model shown, is the new commander of the Blades after the last one was killed by Fimir, really standard Empire general statline (but only Ld 9, guess he predates the FAQ), hw&s and heavy armour, no ward, but if he's general makes Manann's Blades core.
Fimir list is weird as sin. No new models, just the three basic great weapon guys and the Fimirach Noble, the background is that a coven of Chaos Sorcerers has been causing all sorts of weird shit to pop up around Marienburg to help out the orc raids. The contents of this list feels like a random who's who of other armies' core infantry. It is as follows:
Characters:
Chaos Sorcerers and Sorcerer Lords, who are allowed to use the Lore of Necromancy (you need one on Necromancy if you want to use undead units.)
Fimir Noble (basically a hero level guy)
Core:
Fimir, bog standard monstrous infantry, who can ambush from terrain.
Orc Boyz
Goblins (regular, not Night)
Skeletons
'Marsh Zombies' the motherfucking plastic Zombies kit from the 1990s has been brought back. Hold on to your hats, this list only gets random and weirder
Special:
Chaos Warriors
Tomb Guard, on the premise that there were a bunch on display in a museum somewhere in Marienburg
Rare:
Monster called a 'Gargoyle of Bagra'. Massive gargoyles from a building in Marienburg brought to life by the Chaos Sorcerors. Meaty stats and -1 to wound. Can be given wings and various other upgrades. Would guess there isn't a kit coming, because apparently the unit entry tells you to just pick a large model and paint it like its made out of stone.
List gives most units ambush and vanguard, and gives the Sorcerors a new signature spell that lets them summon the undead stuff. Utterly random, I can't see it doing well competitively, and feels like something someone with ADHD would collect.
Rest of the book's full of cool lore, 3 linked scenarios, and cityfight rules that nobody will ever use.
DoW next post
>>96110808Contd with Dogs of War
My source hasn't seen the book, so what he shared was a bit less clear.
The book will be called Dogs of War, and contains a Grand Army list. The two new plastic kits contain both Tilean and Estalian options, and an army can be flavoured either way.
The kits are a pike/crossbowman box, and a 'venator' knight box. They're gorgeous models to the standard of Cathay, and contains the option for either plumed Tilean helmets and floppy hats, or classic Morion Conquistador helms for the Estalians.
The pike/crossbowmen are in heavy armour, but alas the crossbowmen do not have pavise shields like the old metal RoR.
Galloper guns, and birdmen are returning in resin. There's a new resin Paymaster and cart, and Estalian and Tilean foot and horse heroes.
The Dogs of War list is weird apparently. It's a mishmash of old units as under previous editions, but you unlock different stuff based on what race your general and paymaster are, similar to the militia list in HH I guess.
The paymaster is basically a BSB+, and while not mandatory you'd be crazy not to take one. Rides a cart with a load of extra wounds that can be sat in a block of infantry, 18" BSB range, lets you pick the result if you fail a misbehaving merc test (spoiler: all DoW units are mercs), and the entire army hate the unit that kills him.
As for the build a bear list component, the following races are available to generals, and most of them are available to paymasters: Tilean, Estalian, Empire, Dwarf, High Elf, Ogre, Orc, HOBGOBLIN
Yep, Hobgoblins are back. Apparently they're the Chaos Dwarf sculpts not the Asian looking DoW ones though. Metal, not resin. Can only be taken with a Hobgoblin general apparently, and lock out a lot of other options.
Some of the general options can't be taken as Paymasters (guessing orc?), and a lot of them can't be combined (a greenskin general with a dwarf paymaster I'm guessing).
Wow, out of room, more to come
>>96110808If dragons can still be taken, this list is dead to me. I hope there’s still more to this though.
>>96110820More Dogs of War
The choice of who is your general or paymaster unlocks various different unit options and restricts others. For example, a dwarf general paymaster moves basic mercenary dwarfs from special to core, and allows you to take longbeards and dwarf cannons in special, while preventing you from taking any orcs in your list at all.
There's no benefit for stacking a general and paymaster of the same race, I think the idea is to encourage people to lean into the cosmopolitan nature of DoW armies.
Tileans unlock galloper guns and birdmen. Estalians don't unlock any new units, but make your Estalian units better, and let you give the front rank of a pike unit crossbows.
Hilariously High Elf generals unlock nothing. I think the intonation's supposed to be 'you get to take a dragon, now fuck off'.
Forgot to them in the list in the last post, but Norse generals are also a thing. Don't know what they unlock, but presumably Marauders/Berserkers?
Giants are in the list as a rare choice.
If there are special characters I forgot to ask about them.
I hope this is of interest. Source: my dad is Matt Ward

>>96110875Those are all metal and expensive, you're better off getting the plastic generic infantry and if you want to the hats from blisters.
>>96111036I'm a fan of fireforge, haven't had the chance to work with the Berbers yet, but they look like solid kits.
According to discord the "leaks" here are largely unsupported with only Cathay part AJ and another journal to be leaked, per some offical source " it's 10% right."
So I'm betting while the shitpost is a good laugh some DoW stuff is comming back.
>>96111199Oh and given how everyone loves the idea of a heroquest army someday that shitpost about "museum tomb guard" led by fmir could happen. That would be epic.
>>96110803Tommow?
It's shit today!
>>96110978Heheheheh, what if Cathay are currently in Westerland, becacause Yin-Yin crashed her ship there and went missing, and now she's been found by fimir, and thousands of Shearl are running a train on her, fomorian cum seeping out of her every orifice while she lays an endless amount of Fimir-Dragon eggs. Silly Yin-Yin.
>>96111199In any other instances I'd have called it fake and gay, 2 plastic kits for dogs of war, one of which is a quadruple kit (tilean pikes, estalian pikes, tilean crossbows, estalian crossbows), is an utterly wild and unbelievable amount of support for that faction, let alone that plus resin heroes plus a fun sounding journal full of options.
But the heroquest army of infamy is just so inconceivably odd and bold that I can't imagine your run of the mill fake rumormonger could have come up with it.
And he didn't even present it as such, I had to point out the units he was listing were direct stand ins for the heroquest box, if it's a fake rumor it's the best performance I've seen in a while.
>>96111390>2 plastic kits for dogs of war, one of which is a quadruple kit (tilean pikes, estalian pikes, tilean crossbows, estalian crossbows), is an utterly wild and unbelievable amount of support for that factionOne of those plastic kits would require the same amount or work as a new Blood Bowl team or Necromunda gang/specialist box, and would sell in greater numbers. I don't see what's so implausible.
If the rumour is fake, the guy's a genius and should be put in charge of TOW.
>>96111390The Heroquest AoI weirdly plausible, given that Heroquest and RAPE are all fimir are known for, and if the FW models are coming back GW are not gonna want to make them about rape.

Cathay was a mistake and doesn't fit the feel and aesthetic of Warhammer Fantasy.

the Fimir rape thing is incredibly easy to fix.

>She gets sacrificed on an altar and then the Fimir are summoned forth from the raw mud of the bog.
>Young maiden are more valuable and more Fimir are born

>>96111513>the Fimir rape thing is incredibly easy to fix.No need to fix what's not broken. Let's go bog rapers!
>>96111491Yep, godspeed probably fake rumourmonger, you beautiful bastard
In all likelyhood we'll probably get:
A second Cathay AJ with the Jade Fleet AoI in, a huge list of broken magic items and some narrative stuff.
A half baked Southern Realms Arcane Journal with a handful of the more generic metal DoW human RoR rereleased, minus their mercenary captains because they don't exist yet. Will contain rules for a bare bones DoW list and all the mercenary units will be bad.
Eventual War in Westerland AJ next year, with rules for a Marienburg AoI that'll let you take mercenaries as core per the one in the back of the 6th ed Empire book, and just be a better version of the DoW list, plus rules for Manan's Blades, who will be Prince Ulther's Imperial Dwarfs tier bad, and fimir who will be a unit of worse minotaurs in a beastman army.
>>96111522Mastercard won't like this
>>96111513Yeah, that's how I would do it too, especially if they can do the ritual with pretty much any race or gender but end up preferring the blood of 'innocents' such as women and children because they produce the best results in the rituals (virgin sacrifices archetype and all that), so they still have a reason to act as their boogeymen reputation instead of simply capturing soldiers after battles, which they could also do.
The rape can be done for fun, frustration or spite, including fimir matriarch on human male rape.
>>96111523Yeah it’s honestly weird that they just haven’t really done anything cool with the AoIs, even the wolves of the sea which is basically the Norsca army still lets you take a fucking daemon prince when it’s supposed to be the low power level army.
>>96111390If they're going to do Dogs of War/Southern realms, it only stands to reason they'd at least get a box of plastic pikes when (as everyone else in this thread's pointed out) so many other companies produce plastic pikes that everyone would just buy them over 25 y/o metal models
>>96111529We'll rape them too!
Southern Realms/Dogs of War arcane journal is more bonkers of an idea than the Fimir army list.
> New kits right after Cathay
> Old resin and metal kits modified to not include the named character (and they need to do this with every single one)
The Fimir army list at the end of the day is the re-release of two old kits + 50 pages of slop sold in a hardcover 100€ book - the DoW re-release would mean actual hard work for the manufacturers
>>96111531Wolves of the Sea and Bretonnian Exiles are the coolest AoIs by a mile, and nobody would have believed you if you'd said they were coming out before GW announced them, which is why I'm choosing to have faith in the DoW and Heroquest AoI rumours.
Agree that daemon princes, chaos lords and dragon ogres in Wolves in the Sea is bullshit mind you
Yes but when do they release a Baalrukh army list with Gargoyle infantry named "Daemons of Chaos Undivided"? I'm waiting
>>96111544The Goblin Hewer doesn't come with Malakai Makaisson anymore. Individual metal minis are pretty easy to take out of the box
>>96111533There are a lot of things that would make an absurd amount of sense for GW to do, and yet GW has more often than not, if not always, ended up missing the opportunity to focus on something else. And competing with historicals is not even the most pressing of them, shitposting aside, they are a long faded stain on their radar, lets be honest.
The laziest possibility, and so the one I consider the most likely, is that they would simply return back into production the old metal models at an unreasonable pricetag for the collectors too dumb to buy recasts, and simply expect from anyone who wants to make a full army to dish out the money for 500pts of metal infantry, or use mostly the plastic units that dogs of war can likely borrow from the other plastic ranges.
>>96111547Idk I think basically everyone called a Norsca AoI for warriors of chaos, and yeah wolves of the sea is the Norsca list for old world.
>>96111544>Southern RealmsHow many times do I have to tell you spaniards and total tubers secondaries that "southern realms" is not a thing, they are Dogs of War, and they're 95% tileans, estalians have less of a presence than arabyans, and the one arabyan regiment of renown is led by a marienburger.
>>96111522>CAM ON BOGGERS*BANG BANG*
>RAEP SOME FACKIN MAIDENS*BANG BANG*
>>96111553I'm not 100% sold
imagine Voland's Venators
the rumor now says they will be sold as "Venators" as default DoW cavalry.
So first of all this is new lore (Venators as a common widespread Tilean regiment of cavalry), then they have to remove Voland of course.
And the "V" on the shield changes meaning from "Voland" to just "Venator".
Now though, the unit is missing a champion.
See? There's many little hindrances and problems for doing this.
>these are all easily fixableyes, for a person with a brain, but a corporation like GW where they need to have a series of 10 meetings to decide the crest of the new Bretonnian foot knights is too brainless and convoluted to surpass all these (admittedly small and inane) issues.
They'd have to contact their storytelling sector, their modeling sector to make sure the word "Voland" isn't etched on any helmet, their gameplay sector to decide whether the unit will still have a champion/what to do, their marketing sector because now this is a weird kit with missing pieces and they have to decide a new price, and so on.
All of this for a whimsical creative project of the Specialist Games team, the mistreated cinderella of GW.
This seems too simple and too good to be true.
A true corporate mongoloid juggernaut like GW can't pull this off with ease.
>>96111578So you don't believe in the leak, but you still believe Dogs of War will be released.
Weird inbetween hill to die on.
>>96111578>the one arabyan regiment of renown is led by a marienburger.
>>96111591I would believe the leak because the heroquest army is so absurd I cannot imagine anyone coming up with that
I wouldn't believe the leak because I don't expect gw to make 2 extremely high value plastic kits for dogs of war
I do believe the old dogs of war at the very least are coming because we had valrak pointing towards them already
And my final judgement is clouded by the fact I do want this stuff to be true

potentially good news for tow from aos:
their saurus warriors are now getting renamed saurus guards
the only real reason why gw might want to do this is to avoid confusion on their webstore and stocks with another product called saurus warriors, as in the old kit returning for the old world alongside the legacy faction
the alternative is that they renamed them because they don't plan on doing a kit for elite saurus (temple) guards, but if that was the case they could have simply removed the guards from the armybook and kept the warriors as warriors, plus it's not a given the new elite unit was going to be called saurus guards, as the saurus cavalry, chameleon skinks and salamander were all given new names with their new kits anyway
the great plan moves!
>>96111871Old lizards being recycled for tow is not good news in my book. Those saurus were their most hideous iteration and let's not even touch the tpoic of saurus cav. I'd rather they release proper temple guard for AoS so we can use that alongside the much improved current range.
>>96111876The net positives I'm looking forward to are not really the old miniatures, I have as many as I could ever need already, but rather the update of their rules to a more playable standard and the return of the other legacy factions as well.
I won't disdain a new resin character though, the specialist team has been good with lizards and affines so far.

Here's some Fimir hanging out with orcs (or just about to rape them), adds some more credence to that crazy AoI rumour
>>96111871I think it's pretty likely that the old world is getting the 6th edition saurus warriors and temple guard, while yeah aos is getting their basic warriors renamed to guard, and maybe getting a new temple guard equivalent. Keeping in mind their aos naming scheme (hunters of huanchi, spawn of chotec, jaws of itzl...) it'll porbably be like wardens of quetzl or something.
As for the rest of the lizard range, AoS still uses quite a bit of old fantasy kits, but most of those have even older version that they could bring back (eg the carnosaur)
there haven't really been any lizard leaks/rumours on the AoS side of things, but i'm not so familiar when it comes to tow rumours.
>Tfw nothing gw actually release for tow will be anywhere near as cool as “Fimir Heroquest army” and now I have to live with that disappointment
Why even live
>>96112266Because you got wound up by a forced meme, the poster is pushing this hard. There's nothing stopping you from making your scenario with the exact same models and set up, so when tomorrow rolls around and everyone realizes the obvious hoax is a hoax you can be the change you want to see.
>>96112089the updated versions are going to be in aos, it would be a complete waste to make even more updated versions for the old world, the priorities simply lie elsewhere for this system, and I say this as a diehard lizard fan who agrees the 6th ed plastics are the worst.
If tow wanted to be VERY fancy it could reintroduce all the old versions too rather than just the later 6th-7th ed models, the fluff for lizardmen is perfect for having spawnings with slightly different looks, some beast redesigns are so different they could stand in for entirely new units or equipment options as well, and there are ideas in the backdrop that could be turned into new profiles
>5th ed plastic skinks with bows>6th ed plastic skinks with pipes/javs>6th ed plastic saurus warriors (for the normal unit profile)>5th ed plastic saurus warriors (for the blessed spawning version, MTO run only)>7th ed plastic temple guards (for the normal unit profile)>5th ed metal temple guards (for the blessed spawning version, MTO run only)>6th ed metal temple guards (exclusively for kroak's personal not!undead guards, MTO run only)>5th ed tichi huichi raiders (mercenary unit, stays on the store)>6th ed plastic cold ones (for the normal unit profile)>6th ed half-metal cold ones (for the blessed spawning version, MTO run only)>5th ed slann on palanquin (for 4th-5th generation slann profile, MTO run only)>6th ed slann on floating throne (for the 2nd-3rd generation slann profile)>6th ed lord kroak (staying special character)>5th ed metal salamander (for a new 'ancient salamander' unit with a long ranged artillery spit)>6th ed metal salamander (for the normal unit with a short ranged flamethrower spit)dread saurian as a treat from forge world

>>96112242Yes, I was referring to the old Saurus Warrior models, not the new AoS ones.
>>96112363I doubt we'll be getting updated sauruses too, it's going to be really weird if both aos and tow start getting updated sculpts for essentially the same unit. I’ll ruin suspense and say the horned rat was on my side this time lads.
Bullshittery included:
Rattling shooting at deepwood and panicking deepwood off the map t1
Gutter runners mincing almosf 2 entire units of dryads with fireball engineer support on one.
(They stand and shot from behind a fence charging dryads, 6 poisons- all of them wounded 6 dead dryads, they then hit faster and beheaded the rest)
This panicked the spellsinger and her lone guy, causing them to flee infront of a unit.
And the craziest part of it all. Doomwheel then charged into a forest, did one shitty impact and shockingly the engineer pilot took the last wound off the spellsinger with a double 6, threw a warpstone wrench?
Anyway my opponent conceded t4 with the treekin on 2/3 models(due to great doomwheel zzzaappping) treeman down 2wounds and branchwraith unit depleted to half strength.
I had lost:
A jezzails
3 giant rats from shooting 5 from friendly fire(zzappp)

This probably going to be a stupid question but I come to ask anyways. I've been wanting to build a vampire counts army using some SBG minis I have from aos, but wanting to keep them useable for both games. How much of an issue would you have if you played a battle with someone and the bases on a unit was larger than they should be? In reference to some like a vargheist, which in one is a 50mm round and the other a 40x40 square.

>>96112890As long as your're not going to participate in tournaments, nobody really cares about these details. Just get some adapters/trays and you should be good to go.
>>96112890Larger bases are generally a problem for you, the controlling player, as it means less of your dudes can be in direct contact of the enemy and more of the enemy's dudes can be in direct contact with you, so most people won't generally make it a problem if your bases are slightly larger
now, when it comes to reasonable players, you might simply ignore the exact physical base contact and calculate it mathematically for what would be normal of the models had the correct base (for example: 3 vargheists on 40mm bases will be in direct contact with 7 25mm models or 6 30mm models, otherwise suck it up for the sake of making the game smoother, approximate your round bases into equivalent squares and get that 1 or 2 extra attacks against your round based models, it's not going to ruin games.
for the most part you'll be good because skeletons use a 25mm square base in tow and a 25mm round base in aos, so you can use a movement tray and leave them on rounds and have no issues.

>>96108953 (OP)Why and when do Bretonnian knights become Questing knights?
The fluff always seems to imply that it's very faithful, zealous knights who do the Chivalric equivalent of becoming a monk in order to possibly find the Grail.
But so much of the art for questing knights depicts them as these dirty, crazed hobos (which is awesome).
Could a shamed knight take the questing vow instead of being exiled? Like the knightly equivalent of the slayer's vow? That seems like a really cool way to characterize some of them, especially a hero or lord.
>>96114869People forget the contrivance of the Lizardmen and Slann.
They vanished after 3rd edition, which was the "everything and the kitchen sink" edition with Balrogs and half-orcs and sea elves, and back then lizardmen were equivalent to orcs, barbaric troglodytes sometimes enslaved to Dark Elves, while the Slann lived in Lustria with their human slaves.
Then (1992) 4th edition comes and the game world is identical to what people know today (Ulthuan in the middle, Norsca, Zharr Naggrund, Nagashizzar) everything is in place, every race is what you expect, this edition is when Warhammer truly took shape and Priestly went to town squatting everything he didn't like, from Mind Flayers (Brain Drainers/Mind Eaters) to Gargoyles.
Here's the kicker:
there are no Lizardmen and no Slann in 4th edition. And this is when the world of Warhammer truly took shape.
This is after 40k Rogue Trader (1987) and before 40k Second Edition (1993).
...then the world of Warhammer 40k is fleshed out with Second Edition in 1993, and here we have, at last, Warhammer Fantasy 5th edition, in 1996: HERE the Lizardmen come back with the Slann.
In other words: in a FUNDAMENTAL HISTORICAL MOMENT for the creation of the Warhammer multiverse (4th edition Fantasy Battles and 2nd edition 40k) the Lizardmen and the Slann were squatted - they came back later.
>>96114941>Why and when do Bretonnian knights become Questing knights? There are two reasons; as part of your religion becoming a grail knight means you have the lady's blessing and also get powerful. Every questing knight have those two motivations in different %s
>But so much of the art for questing knights depicts them as these dirty, crazed hobos (which is awesome).Cause they live like hobos always on the road or moving through the wilds
>Could a shamed knight take the questing vow instead of being exiled?Yes
>Like the knightly equivalent of the slayer's vow? Questing knigts are the human version of slayers except they don't wanna die if possible
>>96114971The Warhammer World formalized under WFRP, not 4th FB. WFRP has always been the truest line of Warhammer, with FB being it's retarded inbred cousin.
>>96114992Can a Grail Knight be a scumbag, or are they all moral and noble people? You have tales of villainous Bretonnia lords, but how could they exist in a society that also produces Grail Knights who have to be virtuous? Part of virtue is the expulsion of evil.
>>96115074WFRP until 4e never gave a shit about any part of the setting that wasn't the Empire or the Border Princes, so whatever was going on with Lustrai or Elves didn't matter to WFRP writers since they didn't care.
>>96115095Coincidentally, Lustria and Elves are the worst parts of the setting. Makes you think.
>>96114941They look dirty and crazy because part of their questing vow is they can never sleep in the same place twice. They give up everything they own (or give it to someone to hold in trust if they are a Duke's heir or the King's heir), forsake the lance, and go on crazy vision quests until they get a chance to sip from the Gaemr girl simp cup. Most go their entire lives and don't see it.
>>96115089They have to be virtuous, as so much as the religion of the Lady defines virtue, because if they aren't they won't survive their sip from the Grail. Doesn't mean they are nice to peasants or shit like that though, or that they all have a vow of poverty (Dukes and the King certainly don't)
>>96115109Lustria is based tho.
Elves suck (White Lions, DE, and WE are ok tho)
>>96115074Guess what asshat, I just checked.
There was zero development in WFRP (1986) - the Lizardmen are troglodytes and the Slann are nowhere to be seen in the book (half-squatted already). What's there is copypasted from 3rd edition WFB.
The Lizardmen/Slann combo we know today?
ALL OF IT comes from 5th FB, invented in the year of our Lord 1996 by Rick Priestly with zero involvement from the WFRP people

I just realized this period of time is when they had to decide which regiments would get plastic kits and which wouldn't - that was the age of the first plastic minis for Games Workshop, and the Lizardmen/Slann weren't there.
