So! Sadly it turns out I'm much more a ideas guy then I am a actual writing guy sadly. And I am very out of practice and not a very good writer. Still I managed to squeeze the metaphorical stone enough to get something of a prologue out for my Jumpers time in Generic Xianxia. I do wish we could still post PDFs that would make this a lot easier.

Prologue- Edited version

It was early evening, the sun had just fully fallen beneath the mountain peaks as Jumper dragged himself into the small temple on the edge of Ordin village. Rain was falling down in sheets. The village wasn't big enough to have its own inn, but one of the villagers had pointed him in this direction after asking if there was anywhere he could stay. The temple had fallen into misuse in recent years.
but any roof between man and rain would do at this point. Jumper pushed open the heavy wooden doors. A large hall draped equally in evening darkness and dust both. "Splendid" the traveler sighs in relief, sinking down onto a bench. Water dripping off the weather beaten man as he peers across the temple. Engravings in the stone walls revealed themselves slowly as his eyes adjusted to the dark. A trio of otherworldly women lined the center wall of the hall. Garbed in red, green and blue. He wasn't familiar with the faiths of this world. but Jumper felt it safe to say they were gods of some kind.
The traveler as far from home as he was makes a small prayer to whatever would hear to be forgiven for this small intrusion, closing his eyes. Perhaps it was paranoia but he didn't need more enemies... and there were enough tales back home about spiteful gods in myth. That he'd prefer not to take his chances...and he was far from home indeed.

He's torn from his thoughts at the sound of a thud. A door in the back of the main hall.
"Whose out there? I heard the front door open so I know you're there."
A gruff voice cut through the dark. "Shit" the traveler thought. It seemed this place wasn't abandoned after all. He swallows and speaks up. Old habits kicking into gear of trying to play it cool.
"Ah! my apologies. I just needed a moment out of the rain. I wasn't aware there was anyone in here."
Jumper grabbed his bag and stands up as he peers into the darkness. "Calm down boy! I'm not going to wring your neck just for stepping in here. What do you take me for some sort of demon or worse one of the Sui? Ha-that'd be the day." A crackling, deep laugh erupts from the darkness as a decrepit man more bones and skin then anything else steps forward. Immediately Jumper relaxes. Letting out a breath he didn't realize he held. Just a old man most likely a fellow vagabond of some kind most likely no threat at all.
"Ah... heh well maybe? You never can tell nowadays right?" Jumper wonders laughing nervously before he sighs. Stepping closer in the darkness to the stranger. "Well... who are you then old timer?"

"I very well might! I'm sturdier then I look boy. Never mind that for now though. Come I have a fire going in the other room. Get warmed up, you look like someone dropped a lake on you. You're catch your death like that in this weather." Zhon li turns and cracks open the door he had entered from. Warm light cutting through the darkened temple hall. Turning his back to the traveler and stepping back from whence he came.

He trails off not wishing to question his newfound host.

The two of them watch the fire for a while before a growl in the travelers stomach reminds him just how long he had been walking today. He digs into the pack by his feet and pulls out a loaf of bread. Pursing his lips together at such a admittedly plain and incomplete meal but... adventure wasn't all glamorous constantly as he's quickly had to learn. He looks over to the old priest and sighs. splitting the loaf in two and handing it to the temple keeper. "Here, as thanks for letting me stay here for a bit. Holy men have to eat to no?" Jumper asks with a small grin as his breads taken.
"Humph I suppose we do occasionally yes." Zhon li nods chewing at the loaf slowly. "Thank you-... What's your name anyway boy?"

""Jumper" thats... a strange name." Zhon li said. "Well its not a name... It's a title. A silly one I guess but I don't wish to use my old name. I guess you could say I'm looking for a new start, and names wouldn't help me there."
"I see..." The old man nods, letting out a long sigh. "It can be hard to get a new start. No one can ever really escape who they are just by wishing for it to be so. It'd behoove you to remember that."
Jumper pauses and shuts his mouth. Zhon li was right of course. Though these circumstances of ending up in a wholly different world were a bit different then most would ever have to deal with.
"You have a point, you have a point. I'll... try to remember that." The self-proclaimed "Jumper" tears off another chunk of bread with his teeth. Trying to chew away his own doubts for now.

"Well then "Jumper" what brings you through Ordin? Where are you headed? Out of hyrule?, Further in?, Castle city?"
Zhon li muses looking at the traveler. Bread put aside on the floor. "Hmm?" Jumper asks snapping out of his own head. "Well... I admit I'm not sure. I'm a wanderer. Don't really have a firm destination in mind. I picked a direction on the road on a whim and... started walking." This seemed to amuse the old priest. Who broke into his faint crackling chuckle before coughing.

"Whats that supposed to mean?" The Jumper frowns at the sudden name unexpectedly thrust upon him. "It just means you feel like a Venti. Simple as that. It's just a name don't think to deeply on it." The priest grins, as if taking amusement in the traveler's confusion a bit.

Outside the flash of lightning can be seen and thunder echos through the halls of the temple.
"Seems like its getting pretty bad. If this areas anything like it was in my youth. The Roads have probably already flooded over. Mud will ruin them for a week probably even after there dry."
"Mmhm? Well that's a pain." Jumper grumbles even as the rain comes down. Wondering where the old man was going with this.
"Indeed. It is a real pain. That mud can suck in a poor unsuspecting traveler and sink them to its depths if they step int he wrong place. It'd be a terrible fate to suffer. I'd be... happy to help you avoid it." Zhon Li stands up. Stretching in the flickering firelight. The old mans bones creaking.

The priest chuckles as he reveals his hand. "I see... Very clever old man. Very clever." Jumper sighs but smiles nodding in agreement.
"Fair enough honestly. No harm in helping out while I'm here."
"Excellent!" Zhon Li rumbles suddenly reaching down to pull the traveler up with surprising strength. Come! I shall show you to your room. We're start tomorrow.
Okay. Wow...that was a good bit of posts. But my brain got churning for ideas in a way that's fairly rare so I wanted to capitalize on it. Wish it didn't take about five hours to get out though but I am very rusty. Sorry for all the messages.

Of course the destination is the Sect of Three golden truths.

Yeah. some of the biggest changes can happen almost entirely by accident or happenstance. "Fate" in a way.

The (hopefully) final drawback before 1.0 is now fluffed.

Thanks! Wanted him to feel like a actual character a bit. Thats a bit of a goal for this chain is to be a little more character focused and how they effect Venti. I do have a backstory in my head a bit for Zhon Li being basically a old rival/Nemesis for a previous Xianxia MC millennia ago but he managed to survive being such a thing. So he's got... a lot of experience.
And its good to give Jumper a little taste of the mortal world in this place anyway. Good for perspective I feel.

Anything people would want from a possible World Trigger update? The current storytime made me check out the jump and it has some very early jumpchain vibes. No option to get a black trigger or side effect, and "trion monster" gives you far less trion than chika. It also just lacks a bunch of triggers.

It would be nice to see since you've pretty much pointed out the things that are missing but could be present. On that note, their deployment system and the MC's black trigger would make for a pretty solid safety net so long as jumpchain weirdness doesn't add a death clause where there both isn't one and would be against the plotline that inspired the ability to obtain the latter.

I beamed at nothing, as I stared at my meticulously put-together lesson plan. It was a comprehensive syllabus that began with strong student engagement, proceeded smoothly into the cut and thrust of deeper academic concepts, and ended with a strong promotion of social intercourse about the coursework. The AI in my phone apparently considered this a "successful class" to my bewilderment.

"You know what' I said to Arona finally, "if we're really going to be stuck dealing with, with...this" I said vaguely as yet ANOTHER bank robbery happened right outside my window. Because despite turning Kivotos into a militarised killzone for eldritch entities, somehow cute girl crime remained a pillar of the economy, "for YEARS and YEARS on end, I'm going to deal with your eldritch horror problem once and for all"

The conflict that followed was both predictable and absurd. And after THAT the next escapee turned out to be this absolute unit of a young lady who didn't even do anything wrong other than being the Japanese schoolgirl equivalent of a Hell's Angels chapter leader.

Which I mean, I didn't really see as deserving of imprisonment compared to the constant unresolved terrorist activities caused by ork-brained schoolgirls.

I was actually imagining magical girls wouldn't really be a thing at all aside from this specific character. Perhaps she could be seen as the first. That definitely sounds like something you should think about and explore when you're playing your chain. There's definitely something there worth exploring. Sure, you could be the sort that uses their powers to directly improve the world, or even someone who uses them to support others to benefit everyone, and both of those things could be seen as bad. (It reminds me of the scene at the beginning of Warriors of Virtue; a kid bends down to help a moth out of a cocoon, but it immediately dies. A wise old asian dude tells the kid, the struggle of climbing out of the cocoon is necessary for the moth's growth. Without it, he is weak and he dies...)
I could also see it as the opposite though. Where the growth and liberation of the world could only just be a little nudge away, and the only thing stopping it from happening is someone with the power to do it.

I was thinking of the two of them being teammates more then anything. I'm imagining she's only got a relative edge on venti experience wise. More like a senior student then something completely in another league. But there's bound to be some fun potential interactions with the chibi form.

Though now that you mention it I do need to figure out how long in initial training it'll probably take Venti before he develops some visible supernatural powers a bit. Because that does take a little bit admittedly. And tri cultivating just slows it down further.

Potentially! Pre existing spells made by other cultivators potentially. My mind drifts a bit to what it'd be like as a new cultivator on the very first techniques. I'm in no rush for Venti to become "Venti" if that makes sense. I sort of like to imagine it happens piece by piece a bit. First the name. Small, Appearance mostly comes from cultivation and confuses even venti themselves as why he's slowly changing. Subtle things at first probably like eye color and the like but persistent as he goes on. At some point he just has to ask what the hell is going on.

That... is a lot shorter admittedly. I was going off of the rough training times I found in the hyrule xianxia worldbuilding doc a bit. Given it said roughly fifty on average and then doubled that a bit for tri cultivating and its difficulty. But I'm happy to use that timescale instead potentially. I'll... Pin Dream eye awakening to three months I think. And once that opens up. Just the sheer proof of such a thing I can see it making venti want to commit fully to the whole cultivation path.

Funnily enough the first stage of the world soul scripture doesn't even involve essence yet so having more resources for it probably wouldn't be immediately useful/relevant. I think once past the first stage overall would be the time to go out into the world for a while. Train, search for things, help people in the empires borders that sorta thing. Probably not leave said borders though given how bloodthirsty non golden sect cultivators can be. And it still being fairly early on. So... five years or so at the main sect base at first isn't to bad before a initial outward journey through hyrule.

Writing up the lead up to the first tribulation could be interesting to. It'd probably be at least a little nerve wracking. Even if only heard about second hand.

Tropes and memes aside, I'd recommend going pretty deep into their thoughts and the consequences of their actions right after gaining those kinds of powers, instead of deciding how they'll treat them in advance. it'll help you get a better picture of their personality and how they'll react to difference settings and situations.

My Sidereal jumper had a similar dilemma, but solved it by continuing to play the part of the Glorious Vizier. As he would say, 'This is not my story.' He knew that he would move on, that he couldn't stick around and solve every problem, that doing so would leave people unable to handle things on their own, in the future. So he stuck to the background, acting as side and support character who helped advance the plot or handled things elsewhere. The disguise only came off if something really pissed him off. Sometimes that something was the entire setting if it was badly written enough. Otherwise he was pretty laid back, because he knew he'd go insane if he tried to control.

OTOH, my first or second jumper was very lazy. Take some magic-to-tech perks, use D&D spells that only target the objectively evil as a base, build a giant raygun, scale it way, way up, and if things are bleak or just annoying enough? Press a button and burn the world clean of everyone below a certain level on the good-evil scale.

My house is located a little to the left last tuesday, and is only accessible through my tunnels. This is inordinately inconvenient since I'll have to keep digging new tunnels to the specific last tuesday that my house is in because the location where last tuesday is changes every week and I've never really been too good at telling my right from my left even before considering fourth and fifth dimensional directions, but it'll ensure I never have to deal with door to door salesmen, religious missionaries, or nosy neighbors, so I think it's worth it.

... I don't exactly have any marketable skills beyond my inexplicable tunneling ability, so I make a living off of robbing the local bank on that one day a few years back when the place got evacuated due to a tornado. I'm sure repeatedly stealing all their money a few seconds before I stole all their money the last time isn't going to cause the collapse of time/space.

I think the times given were assuming that you would be focusing on cultivating just one path. Working on all three at once is going to require you to split your focus.

One idea I’ve toyed with is making the tribulations a positive them that you would want to undergo, but instead of giving you raw power they’re about helping you develop as a person and cultivator. For a first tribulation, you might like an idea from my Fire Emblem Xianxia notes.

And generally tidying up the place in a forceful but nonlethal manner.

And, Elodie realised, something magical happened. The longer she held the candle near the wizard, the more he seemed to start asking questions like "is it really alright to help that tree stump before checking WHY that goblin wants it destroyed?" and "maybe Marmalade has a point".

Marmalade, for his part, started to find it in himself to speak up more and stand up for himself. Slowly but surely and with Elodie's gentle nudging, Nigel realised that more people were generally being helped if Marmalade became the main character with Nigel as his sidekick.

Mainly by transporting him places.

When they were younger, Remilia and Flandre had to be very careful about how they ate, but now everything’s fine, because the two of them together literally can’t consume Meiling’s lifeforce faster than she recovers it.

oh I was actually thinking of doing something interesting for that. At least to me. Though I could still do that elsewhere. I was gonna have the fief be a part of a whole slice of land in a neighboring state that venti and co visit and find to be... well treated like peasants in xianxia world honestly. You get a chain, but you can only ever have blacks as companions and followers. Meaning not people named "black" e.g. Sirius Black, but as in resembling the group of allegedly sapient creatures who live in West and Sub-Saharan Africa or their descendants. They will always be imported as blacks, and you cannot change their phenotype either by import or manually (e.g. via biomancy, illusions, etc.), though they can still can appearance perks as long as they remain obviously black, and they can still take non-human or human-adjacent species options, albeit still bound by the same conditions that apply to appearance perks. You may take canon companions as normal, though they will have always retroactively been black. You do not have to be black yourself. You may attempt to change their personality, demeanor, or mannerisms as normal for companions.

The priest pulls out a pill, dropping it into Alicia's mouth. "Swallow" He says firmly as the blonde girl nods weakly. "Good...good." Zhon li sighs. The old man. Cleaning and bandaging her wounds.

I will be honest: I'm still in the process of deciding because I'm only level 34 and have just cleared chapter 2 of the main story (and the current event). So I am wondering how something works. There are several jumps that allow for you to purchase properties that travel with you. That I can figure out but there are some that allow Streets, Cities and entire kingdoms to travel with you. Is it the same people waking up isikaied in to a new world every 10 years? Days had passed after the incident with the Wolfo's. The sun had begun to hang low just above the western mountain. When two of the renovated temples current inhabitants settled down for dinner. Venti setting down a good few dish. A wider selection then the normal fare available to them.
The Cucco filet, noodles and other assorted foods were on the table for about a minute, Zhon li picking up a piece of carefully cooked chicken and tasting it slowly before he finally speaks.
"Well what brought this on? I hardly think you've found a buyer for milk so in need you can make this our new standard." The priest jests taking a long sip of water.
"You saved Alicias life... and probably my own." I just wanted to do something to thank you beyond just saying it over and over." Venti starts to wave as if to dismiss the question before pausing.
"Though...I did wish to ask you something." The priest just lets out a "Harumph" and slams his cup on the table. "Figured. You're transparent to the point of being see through sometimes boy." Zhon li gives a wry grin looking amused at the situation.
"So what do you want? Rupees? I'm afraid I don't have any to give. Best to go back to checking under rocks for those."

The younger mans faces goes aghast and shakes his head vehemently. "No! God no nothing like that. I just..." He pauses, caution gripping his chest.
"I just... Well its stupid but-" Venti shakes his head staring at a nearby wall that seemed suddenly so fascinating. "I'd like to ask if you could teach me about medicine."
The old man just lets out a long sigh and leans back looking at the herder judgingly. Eyes piercing into the travelers.
"Teach you about medicine? Is that what you wish? Why?"
"...Is-is it not obvious?" Venti asks after a moment turning his gaze almost hesitantly from the wall and raising a eyebrow. Returning zhon Li's stare.

The priest leans in across the table. Staring at the herder as if peering into his soul. Venti's throat feels dry. Far too dry for this as he swallows. The world seeming like it was bearing down on him all of a suddenly.

"Because... you saved Alicia. Hell you probably saved me to. I... I wish to do that."
Venti closes his eyes. Rambling a bit as his nerves get to him.
"I wish to be able to help people like that. Save them, and... I am grateful for being here Zhon li but I do wish to be more then just a goat herder one day. If that's... not satisfactory then okay. I'm happy to drop the subject. I don't know what you might have in your past. Before you came here but to be frank... I don't care. You've been good to me, I consider you a friend even if I don't know everything about you, even if you don't teach me. I just... felt I had to ask."
Venti finally finishes. Letting out a long-held breath before slumping back in his seat.

He feels the priests eyes on him for what feels like a eternity before hearing another "Harumph".
"You want to help people hmm? You're a little naive, and I haven't taught anything in ages."
Zhon li grumbles his voice firm. The moment lingering before he finally adds.
"I suppose there's no harm in teaching you a thing or two though. You're probably give up after a week anyway. We're see what happens."

"That's enough for me." Venti sighs as a small smile takes his face.
"Thank you."

Exactly. Venti does have healer and even Alchemist as perks in his build. He's got to get them somewhere. The seeds are planted for something.

Of course the reason why Zhon li was harsher here is because he wasn't sure if Venti was talking about Medicine or "Medicine" if he caught on a bit. He's dealt with two faced people before. or people just looking to get ahead.

I've been up for a while, and it looks like apart 1 Y and 1 "I don't remember what I don't remember" nobody actually wants to join the Dark Matter gang. That's a relief honestly, less work for me.

Right, that seems to be a perk that gives you a large but finite boost to willpower, makes your body hold together better using sheer force of will, and lets you survive as just a disembodied soul after death through sheer force of will for a few minutes until your will succumbs to death

And that one's a perk that makes your soul reinforce your body, allowing you to fight far beyond what you should be able to manage at the potential cost of damaging your soul, and allowing you to possibly steal someone's body if you win a clash of wills.

Neither one seems to have anything involving recovery in any way? They're both about holding your body together better.


To clarify, the thing I was looking for is a way to mitigate or recover from Permanent Willpower loss in OWoD. Permanent Willpower is a measure of a person's determination and strength of personality, essentially White Wolf's version of D&D's Charisma. Permanent Willpower loss represents a permanent reduction in your mental power in general.


Found something that should work in The Silmarillion, thankfully. I'll need those therapy perks from Persona 5 to get the full use out of it though

Ah, here's where we might disagree. If you go deep enough, the thing is that the Spheres themselves are artificial distinctions of God's baseline spiritual powers (which humans also generate/have inherited).
