Horus did nothing wrong.
mangus did nothing wrong.
I don't know what I do wrong but whenever I try to paint plasma weapons, it always looks like shit. Either its too splotchy using contrast / watered down paint or it looks too solid/filled in to be considered a glow. How common is is to just have a a bronze coil for a plasma weapon?

I think Pyrae might be a decent choice for TS dreadnoughts. D6 s4 hits isn't much but it might help against mook enemies. Depending on what you're fighting it isn't too crazy to get 2d6 hits and if there's a character involved 3d6 is also plausible. Plus if it's a double gun dreadnought the psychic weapon is actually pretty useful than a couple useless stomps..
Iโm not super well versed and not memeing here but it seems that when you look at the facts Magnus actually did nothing wrong and the Space Wolves are literally to retarded and dangerous to let exist.
>>96135651pretty common, its how all of the older forge world miniatures were painted
>>96135817People who say shit like Magnus did nothing wrong are so willfullly blind that they should probably just pull one of their eyes out like their hero.

I'm not up to date on nuรฑore, but didn't Magnus want to warn the Emperor of Horus' betrayal, and accidentally busted his secret project which he intentionally kept everyone in the dark about?
>But he was using psyker powers which was forbidden!
But the Emperor himself used psyker powers for everything short of wiping his ass. And the Space Wolves still used Rune priests. And every Primarch was a psyker.
>>96135894>and accidentally busted his secret project which he intentionally kept everyone in the dark about?Yeah. And then he didn't tell the Emperor about Horus's betrayal.
This on top of not just sending a fucking signed affidavit on a fast ship or something.
>>96135885Russ' stupidity is just trusting Horus, and if he needs to be put down for that, then so does the Emperor. Which is a compelling argument too, admittedly.
I am new to HH, but not new to warhammer. How do the heavy weapons squads work in this game? They seem to be 10 man squads - can I just print a bunch of lascannons or whatever and turn one of the squads from saturnine into a heavy weapons squad?
And also is it like old 40k where I'd have one or two special weapons marines in a 10 man squad?
>>96135910In Russ's defense, he is an idiot.
>>96135910Didn't he also then write a book about how to fight fellow space marines and gave it to Horus?
>>96135914Heavy weapon squads all have the same heavy weapon.
Saturnine terminators can get 2 heavy weapons from the kit
Only Tactical Veterans or command squads can mix special weapons with standard weapons
Download the libers in the oh pee
>>96135894Magnus used forbidden sorcery empower by daemons to break through E's webway. Big E gave him "son I am disappoint" look and Magnus just left without saying anything, allowing a minor daemonic invasion to occur. Then he decided to jut wait in his room for Russ to come arrest him, until the last minute when he decided to fight back.
the emperor is literally the dumbest person in the entire setting
>>96135914>And also is it like old 40k where I'd have one or two special weapons marines in a 10 man squad?Bro read a Liber
Short answer is no, Tacs are only bolters except the sarge
>>96135923>jut wait in his room for Russ to come arrest himinstead of surrendering himself like Russ invited him to do, by the way. Or that he could have done by himself at any time.
>>96135916You can use the accusation as a defence
>>96135914>can I just print a bunch of lascannons or whatever and turn one of the squads from saturnine into a heavy weapons squadthat's what your supposed to do, as there is no heavy weapon squad kit. you just add the upgrade parts onto regular tacs (which they do sell of course, but if you can print them its probably cheaper)
>>96135918This is still just trusting Horus. The book would've been a good idea if he didn't trust Horus.
>>96135948>there is no heavy weapon squad kitI mean there is, it just comes with the weapons and arms, not the dudes.
>>96135934>instead of surrendering himself like Russ invited him to do, by the wayIm pretty sure thats old lore.
To the best of my knowlege the current lore is as follows
>Nikia happened, magic is bad>Magnus said ok thats gay but ok>Goes back home>Finds out Horus is a fucker, and tries to warn dad despite being literally told not to use magic>Breaks dads toy, and pisses dad off.>Magnus realized he fucked up>Big E sends the command to have magnus censured>Command intercepted on the way to russ>Changed to "LOL kick the shit outta magnus do what you did to that other legion.">Russ goes fuck yeah its go time>Magnus realizes what happend and scatters his fleet, logic being that it would be better if one legion were to suffer and die, vs both legions killing each other off.>Russ shows up guns a blazing no questions asked drops in and fucks everything up>Magnus lets it happen, Ahriman leads to defense against magnuses command>Magnus gets his back broken by russ because he literally walks out and lets it happen.>He gives in at the last moment and makes a deal with tzeentzch and then poof.

>>96135964Bah bah bah, b--b--b-b book SEVEN, butterscotch.
>>96135964>Russ shows up guns a blazing no questions asked drops in and fucks everything upNope, he spent an hour broadcasting demands from orbit that Magnus and the TS surrender. Magnus even BLOCKED those transmissions via mind magic. It was only after no response that Russ started bombing Prospero, and Tizca being saved by psychic shield confirmed that the TS were in violation of Nikea, the punishment for which was, by The Emperor's own pronouncement, total destruction.

>>96135894It's almost when you completely rewrite something but still try to keep the overall narrative intact, you end up with a mess.
In the IA telling, all that was forbidden was sorcery. By the time Magnus was united with his legion, there was a strong anti-psyker sentiment in the Imperium. Witch hunts were conducted and even the Thousand Sons were being targeted for their psychic abilities. Magnus tried to remedy the situation and study sorcery to control it, but it's said he took some shortcuts along the way. When the council was called, it was a bunch of librarians that offered the solution of forbidding sorcery and creating the training regiment to standardize psykers to keep their powers in check and useful for the Imperium while also protecting the people from unchecked psykers. Magnus didn't like it, but was forced to accept it. When he contacted the Emperor, he used forbidden sorceries to do it.

>>96136020It's kind of hard to actually talk about the new edition since people just start flinging shit everywhere. >>96136069I like your minis, anon
>>96135910No, Russ stupidity is beyond anything of any of the other primarchs by a very wide margin.
- has traitor warmaster Horus on the ground, doesn't kill him using spear
- goes to lecture Angron, thinks if his men get slaughtered by World Eaters and Angron kicks Russ asshole in easily then Russ makes an empty threat that his men could shoot Angron with their bolters, that Angron will suddenly learn the importance of civilization or some retard idea of Leman Russ. Angron rightfully laughs at Russ gayass face and walks away, leaving a mountain of dead space wolves corpses and literally nothing achieved by Russ
- Russ has already met a chaos daemon Changeling pretending to be a Thousand Sons sorcerer during the council of nikaea to try to stir up in-fighting between Wolves and Thousand Sons. He would already know that trickery and deceptions by chaos were trying to get these two to fight.
- had orders to bring Magnus alive by Emperor himself, later receives conflicting orders Horus wants Magnus dead, could simply lock Magnus, a totally unresisting primarch, inside the space wolves flagship next to 10 psychic null maidens and bring him back to the Emperor to check the conflicting chain of command issue (and Magnus would be helpless against a later execution if he was taken away from Prospero in the center of the Space Wolves fleet, so there's literally zero drawback to this action)
- receives message from Dark Angel warship next to a disabled chaos Warship, presses Reject-Call button, teamkills all the Dark Angels, then doesn't apologize for it, instead spits on Lion and threatens his life (and gets his faggot ass kicked by Lion every time they fight each other)
-Russ/Lion attacking planet when Russ men have a case of the secret homo furry syndrome so Russ need to go take a 30 minute detour from his mission. Lion, as a sane person, doesn't go AFK for 30 minutes he just eliminates the enemy leader. Russ goes into turbofagrage instead of apologizing for his absense.
>>96136020Yeah looks like we are going back to being the slowest of the main 4 Warhammer gens. I donโt want to sound like a doomer but despite the heavy GW push 3.0 rightfully flopped. It bodes poorly for the future.
>>96136103>Lion, as a sane personlol
>>96136069Iโm sorry to hear nobodyโs said anything about your models, thatโs super discouraging but Iโm sure theyโre good! Hereโs a shot of my Blood Angels counter-counter-charging the Gal Vorbak that counter-charged my command squad. A hideous brawl, but very fun.
>>96136107The game has literally just come out. Impossible to judge at this point. A muddled start does not mean itโs all doomed. People are less likely to just enmasse sell their armies because no kitbashing reee, etc.
>>96136125Itโs not at all doomed. Iโm not saying that. It just doesnโt bode well. We can rest assured as long as Ligma is supported we wonโt be canned. Only Imperialis is binned then we can even start theorizing that we are next.
>>96136103the other primarchs who do stupid things, such as Magnus, are at least somehow forced into them (such as Magnus via tentacle mutations). Russ is special because he makes hundreds of entirely unforced errors and repeatedly falls for every enemy trick ever (for example, Leman Russ fighting the Alpha Legion in space, he allows his flagship to become overextended and lower its shields and take horrific damage, because he hopes he'll outsmart Alpharius into teleporting on and brawling instead of simply repeatedly gunning down Leman Russ tardship from a safe distance. This is the level of plan of a 10 year old playing his first game of chess, not a superhuman primarch.)
If I try to find one intelligent choice or strategy or plan of Leman Russ in the entire 60 novel series, it wouldn't be possible. He doesn't make even one.
>>96136069Post models stinky

>>96136129Oh, and Leman Russ is such a weak primarch that his entire primarch spacefleet suffered a defeat at the hands of yet another non-primarch host during the Battle of Vanaheim. An IW warsmith with 5000 iron warriors and some human fodder takes the orbital fortresses over a forgeworld. It took them 10 days to capture all the fortresses and conquer the planet.
A salamanders+ravenguard+whitescars effort to do a guerilla war against the IW failed miserably and was crushed.
Leman Russ entire main fleet with primarch Leman Russ arrives at the system and the minor IW fleet nearby just leaves because they're not retards like Russ and they avoid bad fights. Russ, knowing that he and his men are weak pussies, decides that fighting the tiny IW force would be too costly after the space furries already had their asses kicked at Prospero by TS with their defenses totally down, Alaxxes Nebula where the aforementioned Alpha Legion force buttfucked Leman Russ flagship and outsmarted him, and at Daverant where Night Lords had killed the leader of the 11th wolf company. Russ instead has his fleet nail one hive city from orbit and then Russ tucks his tail between his legs and flees the system rather than fight 5000 iron warriors troopers with no primarch and no air support and no space support. Iron Warriors retain their conquering of the forgeworld.
The more you read about Leman Russ, the larger of a disappointment he becomes.

GW had more success with the space wolves box or killteam nids box in 30 seconds than this entire launch in 900,000+ seconds. And this is WITH intense shilling by GW with 55+ separate articles published on WarCom trying to make HH3 viral (they failed immensely) and them having to give hundreds of boxes to youtuber shills ahead of time.
GW could make a little small profit off HH3's launch, but they can make so much more off instead releasing 40k boxes and AOS stuff. Something like that killteam tyranids box has easily made GW as much profit as saturnine's launch without the bad press and reputation damage and damage to FLGS who will be stuck with dozens of worthless saturnine boxes for months if they don't ditch them without a profit.
Right this second GW execs will be looking at spreadsheet presentations about how heresy 3 is a failed experiment and to be put on the minimal-lifesupport pathway - with a trickle of $25 DLC books with 3 units in them, because those cost nothing to make, but only a tiny pattering of new plastic releases (as those can't just be printed in china like books can)

If you use defense mode, you're WS5 2 attacks on offense, literally incapable of achieving a single thing attacking as you'd need 4+ to hit all the superior legions.
And offense mode is a joke, 2 attacks hitting on 3+ is less than 3 attacks hitting on 4+ (1.333 vs 1.500 hits) while the guys with 3 attacks has higher potential to spike with good luck.
The worst part is WS7 fighters like Kharn, Sigis, Primarchs all ignore your weaponskill ability entirely (they hit on 3+ and you hit on 5+ whatever choice you make) just phoenix terminators are a fucking joke with 2 attacks.
EC players should probably proxy all phoenixes as the Tartaros/Cataphractii command squads for the next 3 years. WS5 and 3 attacks. Just call the halberds Power Axes (you could chop with them) or counts-as Thunderhammers. The +1 initiative for charging EC is good for either weapon.

>>96137008and it has to get within 8" to actually do more than tickle a tank. And doesn't deal double damage on anything other than vehicles. Dreadnoughts? Nah, shrug it off with 3 dmg. Primarchs? If it hits and they fail 4++ they'd still only take 1 wound from a cyclonic melta lance to the nuts at 1" if their bodyguard is gone for some reason.
>>96136069Pretty much yeah. /tg/ is unbelievably toxic, reddit is unironically a better place. I just come here because I might get some discussion I don't get elsewhere
TQ: Who cares which legion came out best. I don't wanna talk about 3.0 anymore.
>>96136946There's literally 1000's of cohorts. Expecting all of them to comply to the standard excertus grey is folly and unrealistic. I'm just doing it because that's the way the Torquatii seem to do it. Mine looks way brighter on camera for some reason, fucking hate taking photos of my models at this point
>>96136069Yeah, rhis sucks. So here is my latest addition, a Rhino for my Terror squad. Next in the line is an apothecary for them since tehy are squishy and expensive and they die really fast.
My group will stick with 2.0, but will port some of the rules from 3.0, like the vehicles stuff
>>96136726>chain bayonets?Paying 20/40 points for chain bayonets on 10/20 tacticals (with only 1A) has to have a reason. Where can that rare D2 attack possibly be useful and not go to waste? Who's going to come after tacticals? (Vanguard units) And which one of these units can actually be hit and wounded and fail their armor save for at least one model to die? So far, out of 20 attacks from chain bayonets, 2.2 will actually go through WS5 3+ armor of assault veterans, with 0.7 being 2D wounds. Not sure if that's worth 40 points, but hey, if you roll fives and sixes all the time, then it might be ok.
>>96136726completely useless. Shred was rerolls before (basically a free 2nd hit when your first failed), now shred is just dmg2 on 6+ for those.
So entirely irrelevant against 1wound targets, and any target with 2+ wounds will have a 2+ armor save that laughs at bayonet units that need 5+ to hit, 4/5/6+ to wound, and then bump into 2+ armor. And with no initiative bonus either.
They make tacticals cost +40 points per 20 to be exactly as useless in melee. Better to take 3 tactical squads + 1 actual melee squad with the points saved than 3 bayonet tactical squads.
>>96137060So chainswords are also useless? they have the same stats IIRC
>>96137060oh, and a good number of the 2W elites you wasted all your points on chain bayonets for could be things like Red Butcher terminators with Eternal Warrior (making chain bayonet do exactly the same damage as no melee weapon at all)
Yeah, easy skip.
>>96137066yeah chainswords suck now
>>96137066chainswords in themselves are pretty useless, but chainsword models like despoiler have +1 attack baked into their profile. You don't pay extra points to add chainswords to them. Whereas tactical marines have 1 attack even if you make the stupid choice to buy a bayonet.
>>96135709Because 3 S5 shots with deflagrate is basically a didegrade to a heavy bolter
>>96137066You don't have to pay for chaiswords, and despoilers have two attacks, but yeah, they are worse now.
>>96136928Yeah, B&S has some cool stuff. Shame they don't have the old not-volcano cannon (somewhat like pic). Would've used it to make an Epic style Stormblade.

Attached my first approach with single color paint job, then the next try with an airbrush years ago, then the current approach with white base coat and blue on top.
Here is a pro doing it and the result isn't really what I expect, it's just white with blue, no glow, no nothing. His technique is much finer than mine and he puts more effort into it... but it's just how it looks:

there are use cases where 20 or 40 points is worthwhile, particularly for WE who can charge off an objective to defend it; for them it might be worth not capping for points if they can get 3A each and slice up some bitches, or for IF who gain their racial bonus only if there are lots of Bolt or Auto weapons in the unit

Would the Space Wolves be analogous to Delta Force? Because reading through books about Space Wolves, there's no mention of their chosen tactics or how they work operationally aside from "acting like wolves" and stalking when closing in.
>>96137156The characterisation of the Space Wolves in the novels is pretty dumb because they fall in to the "move forward and charge" trope in all their main battles.
The lore suggests they were cunning and used feints and were more like Jurassic Park velociraptor style where all their actions synched up for the main strike.
So lore based SW would fit that style

I want to see if an allied force is going to be fun or not.
>>96137156yeah basically. they focus on fast moving and adaptable tactics that are built around the squad level with a lot of room for sergeants/squads to improvise and have a lot of autonomy which is unlike most legions and is most similar to modern special forces
>>96136933So if I wanted traitor fists I would use liber astartes fists rules? And for world eater loyalists, liber heretica?
>>96136997>obliterate light / medium tanks>6 s7 1 damage shotsThey are decently tanky for the points but they don't score and aren't really that killy. Also, in general it seems like you'll really want to focus on options with vanguard / line this edition.
>>96137176They're listed in the legacies pdf, so they'll probably be future DLC
>>96137178>UM vs TSthis reminds me of that bit in the Black Books about an UM force killing their allied 2000 TS in cold blood when they got news from Prospero.
it didn't sit well to me. That's something a IF would do out of autism, but 30k UM should second guess it like they do with everything.
So it sounds to me like a good starting point for a Traitor UM force.
>>96136819They're good, right?
>>96137297do they come with the base for the rapier?
>>96137317thats good. they look way better with bases
>>96135630 (OP)Definetly Tsons, their new rules are super fun.
But in terms of benefiting from the new edition? I think NL. Sure they lost night fighting, but everything around their playstyle is now designed to mesh really closely with the new mechanics and the way the missions now work (statuses, fear, objective denial and combat around objectives) and they (numerically) GAINED rather than lost options. Contekar are a "shooty" terminator so they still benefit from deepstrike (and volley fire), raptors are now a real menace and terror squads benefit from the rhino rush. In terms of taking advantage of new opportunities they really did make out like bandits.

>>96137450It's fanart with mistakes, but the crusader vet cross is not one of them.
IW did become more edgy and spiky as the war advanced, though. After all, they always loved their angry metal skull masks
>>96135651The thing you have to grasp about plasmaglow is what it's referencing - Cherenkov radiation - and how plasma weapons work. The glow only happens during the charging/firing process because that's when the coils are energised. So yeah, you can absolutely have bare metal coils especially if you've not used an IMMA FIRIN MA LAZOR action pose, and if you do decide to try glow again check the wiki for visual reference.

>>96137486Do you think it isn't a Templar cross?
>>96137413I dont think the 20pts from chain bayonets will change the outcome much.

>>96137499Dont they come with bayonets/combat knives you can use or convert on?
>>96137514That was a potential outcome/something people considered when the basic meltagun stats leaked, but in the end they turned out to be fairly balanced.
Melta has very high power for killing vehicles under the right circumstances, but between a loss in accuracy (many melta weapons were twin linked and lost that) and a reduction in shots (see predator melta cannons, that went from 3 shots to 1) melta is now a much more specialized tool that isnt as good for just "general firepower".
Meltaguns specifically might be the best all rounder melta because theyre spammable enough to be useful against heavy infantry and the like.
Also, while melta does destroy tanks if it pens, it will struggle to penetrate Av14 with the exception of the really big stuff like the kratos' melta blast cannon.
Multi meltas specifically arent very good (imo) because of their lower melta range (its only 8", vs the meltaguns 6") Maybe on jetbikes that can reliably close the distance.

>>96136125I dunno like, we've yet to see the fabled PDF, I doubt it'll be as comprehensive as the shills insist/some hope. And even then, the whole four turn/progressive scoring thing is going to be a millstone around the edition's neck IMO, on top of killing deepstrike armies, the complication of the assault phase with a second mini shooting phase, the evidently pretty Marmite new challenge minigame, and all the other points of contention. There's going to be a lot of people in wait-and-see mode for 3.0 and I think it'll be a problem longer term because in a lot of areas there isn't going to be the critical mass of people required to force compliance with the new edition, and I doubt the upsides of the new approach will be enough to sway most of the doubters.

>>96137413 It seems like with 4 turns the name of the game will be
1. Get Line(2) units (Tacticals) on as many objectives as possible as soon as possible.
2. Protect them from statues (so they can score).
3. Protect them from AP3 vanguard units that are going after them (assault veterans, terminators, LA special squads). Reaction should be saved for that imo (it might not help, but it might help if you are lucky, and that is +3 VP).
4. Dedicate units that should constantly try to apply statuses (with stun and suppressiveโyou only need to hit with those two) on enemy tacticals on objectives that you can't reach from afar. Enemy apothecary might be a big obstacle to that.
True believers give malefic, and only malefic commanders can join them. You may also have a hard time fighting terminators, in my opinion.

>>96137798That would be 1/3 or even 1/2 of your army wouldnt it? 200+ for terminators, 200~ for the eagle.
Its possible, but its a very high commitment imo.
>>96137810Seems the case with every other big melee unit. I was looking at SoH Reavers and they become stupidly expensive once you add bodies and gear
>>96137810Maybe you are right, anon, but denying a large amount of VP to your opponent and getting 3 VP for yourself might be worth it.

It's fucking perverse. They're like my least used model army. Even my Blood Angels got some use in Kill Team, I used my Hoth themed Rebels for Legion at least three times, but no, it's the Night Lords, two thousand points, two Dreadnaughts, tons of conversion jobs, loads of mismatched armour to trigger autists because that's a thing NL would deliberately do, some 3d printed Saturnines that can only ever now be "counts as Cataphracts" because they actually have sensible loadouts and don't look like a fucking JoyToy model that a 12 year old is using as a proxy.

In 2.0, Reavers were one of the few squads that could survive S8 strikes from terminators thanks to SoH LA and kill them back with power fists. (if you spend money on them), or they used to hunt normal 3+ marines charging from DS. Now they are going to hunt marines again, on objectives.
Assault squads shields are 5++ now, which (potentially) can greatly improve their survivability against AP3 weapons.

>>96139064The AL mk4 was leaked alongside artwork of the updated cataphractii.
>>96139043Calivers are 2 shot guns at S6
Culverins are 3 shot guns with Heavy(FP) at S6
Culverins are a lot more expensive than Calivers.
>>96138821The AL here looks like reinforced mk4 used by Destroyers, hence the difference
>>96139039Lernaean look damn good now. Can just squat on an objective with Line, dare anybody to do something about it, whilst throwing long range conversion beamer blasts that are now AP 3 at mid range. Might actually have the advantage over other terminators since you need to be able to kick something off an objective to get points from vanguard.
>>96139035They'll give it primaris design cues. The nu-phobos bolters already do the barrel holes before the gun case ends so why would they stop when they already alienated the people that would care about details like those when they shat the new edition out?
>>96139039Contekar are probably not great still, but theyre better than last ed. I think youre underrating EK, theyre pretty cheap and great at doing low level brawling, on the charge theyll even do fine into other (non legion) terminators. Add expendable so theres no risk to losing them and theyre very nice.
Crimson Paladins are basically immortal, but they just wont do any damage, id put them down a tier.
Is Siege of Terra any good? Should I read it before the Scouring? I won't lie, I was not able to read all the main HH series novels not to mention reaching to Siege of Terra.
>>96139130like most of the HH series, some books are good and other are not. Look up reading guides to know which to skip and which to read
>>96139130No and most of the characters that have several books worth of background will feel to you like random mooks.
Are 5-man heavy weapons squads viable in smaller points games like ZM?
>>96139130I only read The End and The Death and I liked it
>>96139130It's alright. Skip Mortis. The end and the death is painfully drawn out, but you kind of have to read it because it's the end to the series.
>>96139165What the HH books really need it's an abridged version cutting the (bad) filler, or re ordering the stories.
For example, it's retarded that the reader has to wait to Echoes of eternity (last to final Siege book) to learn about the origin of the BA and Sanguinius, while the Sanguinius "primarch book" it's actually a brief prequel to Fear to Tread and he barely appears
>>96139156You don't get a discount for having a bigger squads so if you have the room it's actually preferable to have multiple smaller ones.
A single one for smaller games is also fine, tho for ZM I feel like you'd be better off with a TSS
>>96139127I dunno about contekar, they have a lot of things going for them beyond just the profile- itโs pretty easy to hand out statuses which goes very well with their legion bonus, prime benefits can make the sarge properly nasty, and theyโve got deep strike + vanguard
Theyโre very flexible and thereโs very little theyโre not gonna be good at
Fair about keshigโs expendability, but that aside they donโt do really anything aside from charge strong, and even then requires getting them there
I think crimson paladins are so durable that along with everything else theyโve got it makes up for the weak offense- it will take an incredible amount of firepower to pull them off objectives
>>96139098Fair, they look strong
>>96139212Don't forget ebon keshig are WS. Turn one they'll run 13" forward, turn two another 9" followed up by a 4" set up move plus at least 1" charge.
>>96139130Some very good, some very bad. Mortis was awful, grinding, dragging and boring. Saturnine was amazing. I enjoyed The Solar War, The Lost and the Damned, Warhawk quite a lot. First Wall should be better but the pacing is off. EATD is just too fucking long. It's not badly written or anything, it's just too fucking LONG.
>>96139127>Contekarnta and not an NL player, but contekars are simply amazing.
They have fear and can take Heavy Flamers with Panic (1) (this is a -2 LD check), so you deep strike them near the objective and blast tacticals with Flamers and 4A Volkites. If they get the status effect, they can't control/contest the objective anymore; if your squad is big enough, you can literally wipe them out and score 3 VP for Vanguard. (Or you can just kill them with your AP3 weapons on the next turn with the same results; they'll probably run away from the objective earlier though).
>>96138616Lmao there's such a thing as "SN bros"? I think you're forgetting the condescending sad music and fake tears fuckPardo had in his ugly, bad vid, or when he said "just snap those weapons off!"
>>96139408Maybe im underestimating their DS potential.
macca and the maccabros are going to save 30k
>>96139408I've played a few games of 3e now and the game is so ridiculously unkilly that you are very unlikely to wipe out entire units
vanguard will likely never score points solely from one phase of combat, meanwhile tacticals and despoilers can literally do nothing and farm points while being protected by actually scary threats
if you go first and have rhinos with tacs in them, you are scoring an overwhelming amount of points in one turn unless your opponent simply outguns you by a couple of magnitudes
>>96139064>It's not, you moron, all these illustrations are made for HH3They were, but they depict the old MkIV.
>>96139071This is the old design for the old MkIV assault marines.
This is clearly the new design of MkIV
>>96138584
>>96139613Has anybody tried denying objectives turn 1 with infiltrators? Seems like a nobrainer.
>>96139637the edition isn't killy but it's not unkilly enough so that a 5 man recon squad won't die to an entire shooting phase worth of units
>>96139613>vanguard will likely never score points solely from one phase of combatWhy? As long as the enemy falls back you score vanguard. You dont need to wipe them out.
>>96139659But a 10man tactical squad is somehow over that limit?
>>96139661they have to fall back from combat, not from shooting
>>96139674they have already scored before you get a chance to shoot
>>96139659Who said anything about 5 man recon squads? Of course you'll need something a bit more substantial than that.
>>96139637It's an option but most (no?) infiltrators have line, you can just drive rhinos up 12" and disembark onto most objectives in standard 3.0 missions, why not just do that?
>>96139587will be funny to see what he comes up with as his 'perfect edition', he's mostly managed to avoid putting his money where his mouth is but this could out him as the hack poser he is.
>>96139684Sounds like you need more infiltrators
>>96139686so what do you suggest?
infiltrate units come at a hefty premium and you are using them to simply deny
>>96139684>they have to fall back from combat, not from shootingYea, and one round of combat will easily manage that. Basically any vanguard(X) unit in the game with the exception of outriders (and maybe even those) will easily bully tactical marines (or whatever other line is on there) on an objective, and either wipe them out or have them flee from the resulting combat.
Reavers, raptors, terminators, basic vets. You name it, it will mince power armor fine.
>>96139688I believe anon is suggesting infiltrating onto the objectives to deny enemy scoring if they go 2nd, not to score preemptively himself.
>Tarantula sentry guns shoot at enemy units during their movement phase
Well well, looks like the automated defences army I was planning might actually be meta.
>>96139709Only denying is entirely worth it when it stops the opponent from racking up a ton of VP turn one.
>>96139710You could even conga line infiltrators in front of the enemy deployment zone purely to block movement. Doesn't matter if they die after, because the can't die before they prevent any enemy units from moving through them.
>>96139613>unlikely to wipe out entire unitsYeah, I was sitting with a calculator here, calculating things, and a big squad of contekar with 2 flamers can reliably kill 10 tacticals with shooting, but that's it without an apothecary or another character. Also, sending a 450-point unit to kill a 100-point unit might not be the best idea. VPs are important, though. Their 4A Volkites are also assault weapons.
>if you go first and have rhinos with tacs in them, you are scoring an overwhelming amount of points in one turni thought that would be the case
>>96139709Tarantulas are 45p for 2 of them
>>96139710one round of combat cannot manage that
I had 30 thralls live through 3 turns of combat against a vet squad
>>96139727so you're suggesting to spend 400+ points of your army on shotgun recon marines?
>>96139752I assume you meant 20 flamers, how are you getting all those templates hitting without overlapping over your own models?
>>96139716>alright I got the book in front of me lets see what tarantulas are all about>BS4>AV10 instead of toughnessjesus christ

You kill 5 marines and they do nothing, you win combat by 5 (which is easily manageable vs tacticals). Thats tacticals testing vs LD3. Tech thralls are something like LD5, to have them not rout they would need to WIN every round of combat.
There is no more stubborn, there is no more fearless, there is no more implacable or whatever it was terminators had that was faux stubborn. If you lose combat, you test to flee with a negative modifier equal to however much you lost by, even if a vanguard unit wont wipe the enemy unit out (which it easily can, twin claw veterans will still kill like 20 tacticals per combat round) whatever is left will be rolling absurdly low LD to stay.

Unless they're the Emperors Children I guess.
>>96140888I think in terms of raw strength and durability the thallax should have it, but the marine is faster and more skilled. If they win its because they exploit that.
Do you think Seekers with nemesis bolters will be coming back in pdf's? I've been figuring out a 1500 point list and to make it work I need to run Seekers instead of Recon for my Vigilator so I can get an apex detachment for the extra logi benefit.

>>96141225It's a dead on arrival edition. Nobody is playing 3.0
>>96141135God I hate this fucking detachment system. You're right, I missed that one.
>>96141225A lot of people are waiting for actual release/legacies doc.
From what I have seen though, rhinos are pretty fucking peak this edition.
objectives are omega important due to how swingy they are (from high levels of line and vanguard), and rhinos have HUGE threat range since you can move full, disembark full, then possibly charge.
>>96141225Its a transport edition. No matter what you take you want it in a transport for extra movement.
>>96141225as mentioned, you want transports they are really good this edition.
Objectives are more important then ever now, which desu idk how i feel about, one hand cool, on the other hand lame that once again your best move is gonna be just to spam max squad tacticals.
So how do Fliers work? I'm a bit confused and trying to figure out how my Xiphons operate now.
>>96141245Its such an extra faff when you KNOW you can take absolutely anything you want, you just gotta shuffle through 500 detatchments (a list which will keep getting longer no doubt) to find the most optimal detatchment combo to max your amazonprime slots.
>>96141305You choose which flyer stratagem type thing you want to do (shoot stuff, deploy stuff, pick up stuff, some other one).
Flyer deploys at your table edge.
Enemy can try intercept (snapshots)
You then move/shoot drop troops as specified above
Flyer is removed off the board again
Repeat multiple times per game based on rng roll
Thats how flyers work now - they never stay on the board.
>>96141303>melta beam looks like a generic flamer
>>96141294Damn the unit type pictures are jarring when it's not a SM army.
>>96141305They appear and zoom off in the same turn.
You pick what they'll do between a fast shooting pass, slow shooting pass, picking people, dropping them off, and there's a reaction to intercept enemy fliers. If you go fast shooting, you can only shoot centerline and guided fire weapons, and centerline weapons are snapshots, but intercept reactions snapshot against you. If you slow shoot, you shoot normally but enemies don't snapshot on reaction.

>>96139024So it was interesting. We only got 3/4 through turn 2. Some highlights:
1. Xiphon was ok. Doing a strafing run we saw interceptor was full BS, but reading the other assignments and skyfire it seems like snap shots should be more common against flyers, like in return fire without skyfire? But we couldn't find anything so I just said to react at full BS regardless. In seach and destroy are both parts of the corner your table edge?
2. 3 reactions whenever was fine, the DG one is really good.
3. The DG prime slot is nuts if you dont read that it only goes on a centurion, whoops. He had a +1W vet tac squad with apoth all game that soaked so much damage.
4. Dreads WS4 is really painful, my Cata command punted a contemptor into the stratosphere.
5. 5 Mor Deythan evaporated a Praetors head.
6. Moritat with charger praetorian jump command squad soaked a lot of fire and dished it out until routing to some death shrouds.
7. Having a status mattered more than the status with only 1.75 turns.
8. Tacs in rhinos to farm so much VP immediately felt a little out of control. It was neck and neck but if you dont have tacs to sacrifice into counter scoring seems like your opponent can really get ahead.
9. Master of Descent deepstrike turn 1 with Dark Furies was underwhelming. I really only placed them somewhere they could have gone naturally turn one due to the deployment. He seems only really good with shooting turn one. I bet with destroyers he'd be way better.
10. Drop pod plasmagun team was ok. Return fire counting as stationary is also crazy. 10 tacs returning 30 shots is strong.
11. RG trait is indeed strong
>>96141490Line/comptroller are essentially mandatory in a army list. You'll never get anywhere without it.you need vanguard 3 to make flipping an objective more valuable than just holding it and that is pretty rare. For everyone arguing about how to deal with rhinos rushing the objectives and all that, have you actually read the mission?
There's 1 out of 3 where there's an objective in the center of the field. For all other objectives and other missions the players place them where ever they want and they can be in your deployment zone or at the very least the border of it.
In that 1 mission, First strike gets you 3 VP, so rushing in as fast as possible with a rhino doesn't exactly sound like the smartest idea.
With the Counter Offensive rule on all missions it's also not that clear that whoever scores first is going to win
Last man Standing also favours playing defensively
>>96142004Tell me, how is buying a GW product an investment instead of consumption?

GW knows that creating Female space marines will piss off a LOT of their consumers, and honestly it should not ever happen because there is no reason for it.
On the flip size, if they out right deny it, they are so far entrenched into the "normie" audience they will piss off a major part of their consume base as well.

And only the real professional painters can build an army, sell the models, and get a proper profit out of it. Everybody else is extremely lucky to get the same amount of money back that they originally paid for their models. Which means they still lost value because inflation.
Also SoB aren't space marines, nor are they organised in chapters.
>>96142141A fortune, right. So you store one army under your bed and hope you get more than you paid now? Ever compared it with the GW stocks?
Here is a story for you: Not so long ago GW stocks were about 80 bucks. At that time I bought product for about 200 bucks. I still sit on these boxes (my pile of shame), while the stocks have doubled in value and paid dividends over time which can be used to buy more stocks to get more dividends.

A rhino protects the marines inside from a LOT of firepower, theyre now front armor 12 so theyre rather hard to kill, you need proper AT guns to reliably take them out and thats just not likely to happen. And they also allow you to get your marines where you need them much faster
20 marines in rhinos will get into those objectives a turn (or even two) faster than 30 marines on foot. Sure, the foot marines are more bodies and guns, but its also something vulnerable to some volkite HSS, being pinned, being panicked or whatever else. Plus the faster you get on objectives the more you score.
Also: you can now charge out of rhinos, which means melee units can now use them.

>>96142381No subject, try again
>>96142345There isn't much to laugh with how GW used HH as a fleshlight but if you want an advice get the plastic mk4 and termies still on the website. Anything post 1.0 isn't worth much, so get the old resin stuff too if you want and keep the receipts.
>>96142238No it fits perfectly with them for 2 reasons. TOW and The Femstodes situation.
TOW is a prime example that GW did not realize how big their old guard audiance was and it was big enough of one to warrant them being drawn back into the GW umbrella by making TOW despite AOS literally deleting it.
Femstodies also caused a LOT of backlash against them that they are still dealing with, why do you think they literally have not touched it with a 10 foot poll since that once animation, because they realized they did not completely understand their market base.
Fem Marines WILL break the hobby because it is the one barrier that they can not cross with the majority of the fandom or else it will break it. Even GW in their infinite wisdom or lack there of, know this.
>>96142430Forgot to add the resin stuff might become popular in 40-50 years, you might even sell it at a profit, lmao.
>>96142238>2 trannies move in and buy a ton of shit to "own the chuds"The issue here too is that Trannies dont buy shit to "won the chuds" Wizards of the coast and Disney are realizing this finally. The biggest issue is that the bean counters in these companies think that reddit and twitter are a reflection of the actual market base, when the reality is, the long term and loyal customers are the "chuds" a lot of the modern audiance will come in, fly by night and buy a shit ton of stuff then fuck off and never touch the hobby again after like 3 months, but its the "chuds," that are the loyal fanbase no matter what. I mean look at the shit show of 3.0 and how many people are still gonna buy it, most of thoese people are not the own the chud types its the people who have been playing this game for over a decade because they are in it for the hobby. BUT there is going to be a line that they cant cross that will break people, that line is fem marines for a LOT Of people.
>>96142434You say that like companies don't make incredibly fucking stupid decisions that go against their core audience just to score internet browny points
GW could easily be the next budlight or jaguar
>>96142332Game is 4 turns now, you've got to get those troops moving up the board to get something done.
>>96140958Thallax are T5 2W 3+, and units no longer get extra attacks from charging. Tacticals need 27A to kill even a single Thallax, not counting the sarge
>>96140581here are some right here teehee
>remove dozens and dozens of units because 'they don't have model kits'
>keeps in imperialis militia and adds yeomen
>>96140581the hard edges of cataphractii suit them better aesthetically
So how long until they release the MK3 assault squad?
I'm lusting for those chainaxes
Was there still no Solar Auxila book leak?
>>96141568Some of the UK wholesalers are already up to 35%.
Like, even if the rules were good. NOBODY want's to pay over a 150 for a box with a fucking Turret. Like, even if the rules were good, this box set is trash objectively, and then you compare it to how bonkers the value of the AoD box was and it just becomes insane.
>>96136061The problem is they tried to rewrite things to make the emperor seem justified in mistreating all of the traitor primarchs, but it just made the story not make sense.
They should have kept the idea that the Emperor punished a loyal son, Magnus, out of sheer spite, rather than it actually causing him harm.
>>96136879Legio Tempestus actually is this, they're a Tzeentch-worshiping numerology cult by the time the Heresy is finished, and they're one of the greatest Titan Legions. Second only to Legio Mortis, of course.
>>96135672planning to do more marines
>>96142434>Fem Marines WILL break the hobby because it is the one barrier that they can not cross with the majority of the fandom or else it will break it. Even GW in their infinite wisdom or lack there of, know this. You have to be as deluded as GW if you think the majority of the fandom actually gives a shit about femmarines. They're the pet issue of a small, loud part of the fandom, most of whom are too obsessed to quit regardless, and will just bitch about it a lot while still spending piles of money on GW's plastic anyway.
>>96144137>MK3 assault squadNever.
MK2 assault squad probably next month tho.
Do Sallies have a special TH, or do you just think James forgot they're 1-handed?
Not an idle question: the Heavy Chainaxes which Assaults can take have the same lroblem: 1-h rules, 2-h models...
>>96146135Purely a model issue
Same goes for the spear and one of the power swords from the same kit
>>96146135Anon there are not 1 or 2 handed weapons anymore
>>96146146Ehhh, they enforce certain sets of wargear, so, no, not in name, but the heavy chainsword cannot be paired with a combat shield, while the heavy chainaxe can be; for example. Doesn't really matter on characters with halo saves, but it does for troops.
