>Previous Thread:>>96132378>Thread Question:Do /yourdudes/ have their own version of strom troopers? Elites like Kasrkin or Grenadiers?
My elites are just aspect warriors of course
I wish you could give frag cannons to non-deathwatch chapters.
Imperial agents expansion is coming...
I can peel it...
>TQ
Only thing close to elites are the few KT models I have been bringing along with the rest of my IA army. A friend of mine plays genestealer cults so I kitbashed some bits and made /mydudes/ some anti genestealer arbites within our homebrew sector. After the first signs of invasion the arbites were quickly dispatched and now form absolute anti bug measures such as
-killing any and all bugs be them tyranid or not on sight
-destroy every single bike on the system brutally on sight
-outlawing baldness
-no doctors (friend's genestealer army is based sround experimenrs and biophaguses or whatever theyre called) around AT ALL
They wear police blue to remind the bugs of the ultramarines' glory on ultramar with purple bits and lines recounting how many elite genestealers they have snuffed.
I really hope my army gets stormtroopers the fuck back. What the fuck.
Reminder that chaos is for chumps
I hate the new vulkan and I can't even figure out why. It just gives me a churn in my gut.
>>96137532I personally don't like the pose. Like it's not bad but it feels a bit bland.
>>96137493You could, but not anymore
>>96137532Because it's a mess full of bad details and awkward pose.
I'm not a primaris hater, but the old mini was technically better despite the same retarded flamer inside the arm (unlike the actual primarch Vulkan mini)
>>96137557Would be cool if they made a primaris devastator kit and then added few frag cannons into the kit.
>>96137493Those faces look so bad
>>96137493More like FAG cannons lol!
>>96137574Disagree, the faces look great, but they're closer to the cartoony RT style, so they're not for everyone
>>96137493I wish they would bring back the one grenade launcher from SM1
Where do you draw the line for canon?
>>96137604Exclusively stuff I heard about from a friend at the lunch table in the early 2000s
>>96137574Yeah aren't BAs supposed to be like super pretty or something? Not really getting it from that face
>>96137604If it is made by GW or has GW's approval, it is canon.
>>96137604Everything I believe in is canon
Everything I don't isnt
I have the correct most insightful soulful kino view on this setting and how each faction should be properlu characterized and played out
If I was the head at GW this setting wpuld have been golden again and even grogs won't be able to resist playing my personally written 11th ed
Every novel or piece or content I don't like is bad and worthless and drained the setting of what made it good
Horus Heresy should have never happened
I will share my headcanons and /mydudes/ with 6 or so people willing to listen and die a beautiful failed poet's death
GW writers are just bad I could do a better job
>>96137604Stuff I like is canon, stuff I don't like is not
>>96137595They are in contrast to pretty much all the other Space Marine faces, so they stick out. Mabye its the paintjob, but idk. The DW Space Wolf successor looks so derpy compared to the actual space wolfs.
>>96137637>Stuff I like is canon, stuff I don't like is notThis is the only useful definition.
>>96137471 (OP)>TQYes they do.
My problem is that I don't have the "classic heroic scale" proxy models to create such things. I just work with what I can.
>>96137604What I like is canon. Therefore female marines are canon.
What is going on with Imperium sculpts in particular these days?
Like Xenos releases have all looked fine and the chaos ones are okay if a bit uninspired. But several of the Imperium ones have been actually terrible this edition.
what are some good models to use as a base for a converted/kitbashed Weirdboy?
The Silent King novel shows that the Synod of Mars is planning to rebel against the Imperium and break away from the rule of the dead Emperor.
Why isn't anyone discussing this? A civil war is brewing.
>paint a squad
>it looks like shit
how have i gotten WORSE over time?
>>96137668As the guy who wrote the lore summary that gets passed around, I specifically leave out details as canary traps for when people claim they have read the book.
>>96137674Maybe your standards have increased for what you think is a properly painted model, therefore you perceive your newer models as looking worse. When in fact you're improving.
>>96137646>The DW Space Wolf successor looks so derpy compared to the actual space wolfs.mmm
>>96137675Diabolical, but unnecesary, IMO. Retards always lie and invent shit that never happened in BL books
>>96137668>admech is schisming againyawn, what else is new?
>>96137683He looks fine to me.
>>96137679it doesn't help that theyre Mandrakes which for some reason i have found really difficult to paint
i dont think im improving tho, for the last few years ive been doing base>wash>drybrush and i have to fix mistakes quite a bit. im thinking of doing an army that requires me to learn some new techniques
>>96137683I love you Dr Zaius!
>>96137674Your standards have gotten higher. You probably paint about the same if not a little better than you did 6 months ago
>>96137683probably meant to look like hes on his way to being wulfen
>>96137615>lunch table in the early 2000swhy cant we go back... why cant we ever know we're in the good days before they end...
>bought a votann combat patrol years ago as an impulse purchase
>started feeling buyerโs remorse after assembling them, never ended up painting them
>new releases look genuinely good and have reinvigorated my love for the faction
Nice
>>96137675Why are you replying to me? I read the book.
>>96137714I think I just fucked this particular squad, been painting for like 6 years now and they kinda look shit. Might just do smth easy next like some hormagaunts to rebuild my confidence
>>96137719>really like the new votann releases>see the pricesman after getting a resin printer i simply cannot justify paying for gw plastic
>>96137719I've been loving the ironkyn and cogs,
>>96137695The Fabricator General is dead, implied to have been assassinated. Roboute disgraced the Admech in front of the Imperial ruling classes.
There will be a pushback against this.
Are necrons allowed in commorragh?
>>96137724>"Why isn't anyone discussing this? "
Would terminator World eaters that arenโt red butchers make logical sense? I assume you want a large as a range of movement as possible when engaging in melee.
>>96137604Radioactive hot take: The most important lore is the lore that gets more people personally invested in their army enough to lovingly build and convert and paint them and get them to the table for play. It doesn't matter if it's the same head canon for all people. In fact, it's better if it's not. Just whatever gets each individual more personally invested in a way they find worth their time.
>>96137732eh its just the 48946768547th admech schism since 30k, they split more than trotskyists
>>96137732>There will be a pushback against thisYeah, yeah, just like that rando whore got a primarch killing knife.
Nothing ever happens.
>>96137743yeah, the legions had normal terminators and then their special termies
>>96137742The PDF was leaked a week ago. I assumed people read it.
>>96137754Anon we used to have a mega with every warhammer book ever written, and no one read shit
>>96137737anyone is "allowed" (sans chaos) provided they can protect themselves and/or have a powerful backer and dont try to fuck with the established order. deldar are weirdly enough the most inclusive faction after tau

>>96137668>Why isn't anyone discussing this?Nobody cares. It BL flavor text which has no bearing on fluff because GW will ignore it and then contradict it in a future release.
>>96137778>Nobody cares. It BL flavor text which has no bearing on fluff because GW will ignore it and then contradict it in a future release.I remember when that myth first started, it was because people who read the novels knowlege cliff people here
>>96137778Dawn of Fire was a collaboration between the GW studio and BL. It's different.
>>96137730>man after getting a resin printer i simply cannot justify paying for gw plasticWhat proonter did you get?
Saturn 4 is less than 400 Canadian Dollars at the moment and I'm feeling tempted to get one before I even get a table set up
>>96137754did they make a 3rd silent king book? thats odd considering theyre releasing an omnibus with the first two in a few months, youd think theyd wait and release one later with the whole trilogy
>>96137737I actually don't think dark eldar and neceons have ever interacted in BL or fluff
>>96137786in the scribes episode on WH+ guy haley goes on like a 7 minute rant about how for other franchices the novels would just be ignored as tie in fiction, but in warhammer its different and the novels are an engine that moves the canon forward
>>96137788the saturn 4 ultra. i 100% rate it honestly, theres a shitload of good sculpts for almost every army out there. make sure you read up on how to use it and the safety steps you need to take. resin printing can be fun but is also a gigantic pain in the ass, but still works out to be way way cheaper over time than buying gw
>>96137778>fluffit's lore
And you have it the other way around: The lore in GW codexes and campaign books is meaningless nowadays besides the broad strokes.
We're no longer in the 2000s
Drooling retard here. Two questions about 10th edition rules, greentext is copy-pasted directly from the core book:
>The number of models a unit contains when it is added to your army is known as its Starting Strength.
>If a unit has a Starting Strength of 1, then it is said to be Below Half-strength while its remaining number of wounds is less than half of its Wounds characteristic.
>For any other unit, while the number of models in that unit is less than half of its Starting Strength, that unit is said to be Below Half-strength.
So what happens when a unit that starts with two models loses one of the models?
1 isn't less than half of 2. And its Starting Strength was 2, so the wounds rule doesn't apply. Are units of two models just immune to battle shock?
>If a model in the target unit has already lost one or more wounds, or has already had attack allocated to it this phase, that attack must be allocated to that model. Otherwise, that attack can be allocated to any model in the target unit.
If I have a fresh unit of 5 models each with 3 wounds, and my opponent's attack inflicts 10 wounds on the unit, since it's all one attack and no wounds have been inflicted on the unit, does that mean I can allocate 2 wounds to each model and lose 0 models?
Thank you in advance.
>>96137800How beginner idiot proof is the Saturn 4 Ultra?
Are air purifiers necessary?
>>96137800to add before i go to bed, some tips:
-use a fermentation band to heat the resin. cold resin wont print right and if youre in canada youll need it for a good chunk of the year. in australia i only need it during winter for the most part
-ventilate the printing area well, if you can smell it that's a problem
-i recommend getting a cleaning/curing machine like the creality UW-01, you dont "need" it but it makes everything a hell of a lot easier
>use the plastic scraper, NOT the metal scraper, unless the print is 100% stuck to the plate and you have to use it, cos they scratch the build plate
>>96137807>Are units of two models just immune to battle shock?Yes, except for abilities that force battleshock
>does that mean I can allocate 2 wounds to each model and lose 0 models? No, you technically allocate wounds 1 by 1, so you apply 1 wound to model 1, then wounds 2/3 must go to that model etc.
This gets more complicated with multi-damage weapons
>>96137814I'm not the one seething about 40k lore since before 2017, lol
>>96137821pretty idiot proof given that i use it lmao. air purifiers do jack shit, just make sure you have an open window at the very least and never go into the print room without a respirator. i recommend watching some youtube videos on the proper use of a resin printer before you buy to see if its for you
you can go down the FDM route, which is way easier, but the quality of models is worse. FDM is great for terrain and very large vehicles but for human-scale models they don't look amazing, while resin detail is terrific and is as good as or even better than plastic
>>96137840Yeah instead you just damage controlling.
>>96137840You probably are though. the "lore doesn't matter crowd" are folks eternally seething that some folks know more than they do.
>>96137842>air purifiers do jack shitDammit. I have no ventilated room for a 3D proonter. :(
>>96137835>Yes, except for abilities that force battleshockIs there some lore reason why units of two are unbreakable while units of 1 and 3 are?
>>96137821extremely easy to use - you'll spend more time messing around with the software than actually setting it up and maintaining it.
like the other anon said make sure the room you use it in is well ventilated and never run it in the same room you eat or sleep in - garages are ideal. you can get covers for them that isolate them from the rest of the room and use an extractor fan to blow the air out which you can use if space is limited, but i have no experience with them
>>96137878Alright thanks!
>>96137846No, I just think the changes are fine for the most part
>>96137849No, I'm in the side that thinks the lore matters
>>96137886>No, I just think the changes are fine for the most partBut it wasn't subject of our discussion, capeshitter
>>96137796Yes, they clashed. They clashed in several codexes lore entries and a number of novels. Also, Necron victims have appeared in some novels set in the Dark City.
Silent Hunters has a scene where the protags sneaking in the Dark City found crucified Necrons
>>96137604Everything that was canon back when I was 12 back in 2005
>>96137903What's the point though just fucking around? 95% of necrons can't feel things and bringing one of the few ones who do to get tortured in the dark city would take an extreme amount of needless effort for 1% of the pain a normal human could have. Is this just post war in heaven 40 million years old petty spite?
>>96137922oh hey I made that meme, cruelty squad's soundtrack is a bop
>>96137922tbf its the kind of thing I could see a random archon or haemonculi doing just because/to prove they can

>>96137901Sure it was. You just don't know shit
>capeshitterwelcome to 40k, newfag
Supposedly, the Emperor's Sword can perma-kill Necrons.
Justify this, guys.
>>96137471 (OP)Yeah, /mydudes/ have got their own stormtroopers. They're usually guys that have gone insane and blessed by papa in the trenches by committing enough war crimes. There's also a different faction composed of Void Pirate Mercenaries, but they haven't seen much play since the Marauder rules got squatted.
>>96137967>Sure it was.Except it wasn't
>>96137805>And you have it the other way around: The lore in GW codexes and campaign books is meaningless nowadays besides the broad strokes.>welcome to 40k, newfagBad example because Eldread died in the Eye of Terror campaign.
>>96137970The emperos sword can permakill daemons who are living concepts beyond reality, I dont know why necrons should be immune.
also heres the quote because I actually read the novel
>"There was the sensation of something huge and powerful moving by at speed. A rush of fire, and the weight on Sicarius lifted away. Guilliman yanked one back and tossed it aside with the Hand of Dominion, the thing coming to pieces as it flew through the air. Then he was away, stepping over Sicarius, the mass of his life-preserving armour crushing necrons flat as they struggled back up to their feet. He never stopped moving, the Hand of Dominion sweeping restlessly across the fray, spewing large-calibre bolts into the foe that struck with hammer-blow force, reducing necrons to scrap. The Sword of the Emperor roared fire, cleaving them down, and when they fell, they neither rose again nor phased away."-The Silent King
>>96137970Anything can perma kll crons if their carrier wave is severed, they can't recover the remains, and they have no backups.
Necrons don't escape the grimdark, they just delay it.
>>96137970Necrons can be perma killed by like 76 different methods I wouldn't be surprised if the fucking Emperor's Golden Cock did it too. Most instances of perma killed necrons are when they lose connection to like the main system they keep their minds in so maybe the sword hits them so badly they can't send shit back
>>96137970>Justify this, guys. It's the Emperor's Sword, it can just do that.
>>96137983>Bad example because Eldread died in the Eye of Terror campaign.eye of terror was rolled back in the last white dwarf before 5th edition

>>96138006and blackreach wasn't a nothing burger lol?
>>96137805It's meaningless fluff.

>>96137970Anon, the Emperor doesn't have to justify anything. He's the fucking Emperor.

Meanwhile BL stories and characters stay and become part of the game (like 2 new chapter masters last week taken from BL books)
>>96138014>and blackreach wasn't a nothing burger lol?Was, Eye of Terror wasn't.
Almost at the finish line for my collage entry for the month. Just gotta put the basing on tonight then try to tackle freehand tattoos and putting the finishing touches on the bases and models and we'll be there.
I'm definitely doing this again for the mole artillery team when I get my hands on them. I'm currently debating if I want to give one a big dumb Josuke pompadour just because it'd be funny.

>>96138055>>96138043Eye of terror was supposed to resolve they even teased it in white dwarf and then never elaborated, by the time 4th is rolling through they're doing medusa V and vaguely alluding to eye of terror being concluded while still reprinting the rules for it.
4th comes to a close and GW announces they're redo-ing the last couple hundred years in the timeline and codifying it as the time of ending.
>>96137471 (OP)>tqI wanted to add two characters to my battle sister squads and larp them as very elite. I just don't know if lethal hits and a hospitaler is worth doubling their cost.

Primarchs barely appear and most of the stories are told from the PoV of space marines or humans.
in fact, the number one complaint about the series among the actual readers is Horus being absent from it, besides a couple books.

>>96137731There are only 3 ironkyn pictured in your image. The rest are drone intelligences, like the CORVID drone on the left and right. They're not considered kin, they're purpose built for a particular job and have at most the intelligence of trainable animals. The surest way to tell the difference is looking at the heads - the non-kin bots have a much narrower and pointed dome, and they never have the vox grill on their collar. Ironkyn don't actually swap bodies around willy nilly, they don't do well when it's tried so they typically stay in whatever shell they were originally installed in until returned to the Votann and regenerated like the flesh and blood kin's souls are. And it'd be fucked it an Ironkyn's entire life was being hard-pointed into a gunner or driver seat, so you'll notice all such individuals on the models are these non-sentient drones and not real Ironkyn.
OK I'm like 80% settled on painting my Sisters as Our Martyred Lady.
It seems a bit unnecessary to do my own Order when the existing Orders already have so much space for /yourgals/ plus I'll have access to the icons and transfers
In terms of lore I like Bloody Rose a bit better, but I do prefer the more nuncore aesthetic of OML. I may regret this if they ever do a model of BR's main Saint, which is like a cross between the Emperor's Champion and a Berzerker. That character sounds extremely cool. But I know to never make decisions based on what models GW might do at some point in the future
So I'm thinking that OML is the ticket

Some claim that she is willing to accelerate the doom of her entire species to bring about Ynnead's birth. Others are simply concerned that, in her zeal, she has become blind to galactic events and lacks the perspective required to achieve her goals. Amongst those to have drifted from her cause is Eldrad Ulthran, the once-exiled former High Farseer of Craftworld Ulthwรฉ, who sees in his former ally an increasing desperation and willingness to sacrifice growing numbers of invaluable Aeldari lives in pursuit of her goal.>She was the first of the Phoenix Lords to align herself with the Ynnari and often came to the aid of Yvraine and the Visarch. >>96139358Each Hive world has between 10-100b people in each hive, with 5-20 hives per planet. Let's asume 50b per hive and 12 hives per world for 600b people per hive world
there are 70,000 indians born each day. If every hive world has the fertility of India (rounding it up to 1.5b indians), then that means that there are roughly 28,000,000 children born PER DAY PER HIVE WORLD

The Imperium is ~a million worlds, with many being hives with populations in the hundreds of billions at the low end. Even the average Imperial World likely has populations in the tens of billions. Terra, being a complete hive world with virtually every square mile of the surface occupied thanks to a lack of oceans, can be safely assumed to have a population of at least 14 quadrillion people if we assume an average pop density of at least twice the Kowloon Walled City.

You can keep them separate and easily painted, as the collars on the suits for neophytes can get in the way. Pic indirectly related, I'm using neophyte heads for a kitbash with delaque gangers who also have annoying collars preventing easy access to the heads if they're already glued in place.

>>96140646i think we get a new Stern sculpt.
shit, you're right about techmarine and servitors tho.
if they legends the ven dread after putting in the combat patrol, they're truly evil
>>96141566>We're still a bit away from the image capnot a rule, newfag
>>96141174>>96141510>>96141537How much more difficult would it be for GW to carve out a small part of the model for a flight stand insert and then include the filler piece on the sprue so that people can choose how they want their flyers to be mounted or even if they want to make them fly at all?

Aighty here's that russ proxy all tidied up into seperate parts.
The turret is fine, but there are some small things like me forgetting to extrude the cockpit pieces all the way and the front Tau symbol not being flush (it pops off with no issue though and is an easy fix)

>>96138614That is exactly the kind of dumb pulpy bullshit that I live so dearly about this setting. Absolute kino.
>>96141120>wraithboneI've never had that one come out right and in my experience GW primers are so temperamental.
If:
>it's too hot>too cold>too windy>too humid>too dry>more than 12 inches from model>closer than 12 inches from modelany of these things cause GW primers to fuck up
