Anon, I do not like this army conceptually at all in 40k, gameplay wise. narratively,. even there, they do nothing. I Do not want to play a pick up game where the person who tells me they're running demons, who actually is just bringing three great unclean ones with fucking wardogs. Even before 10th was what it was, demons were all things wrong with soup. The 9th edition codex, when it was in my hands, I could feel, just how loathed this army was for the 40k writers. I knew then and there, this army did not have a place in this game. They are going to go, and I will not weep for any who find themselves afflicted with this.

Tyrranids defeated at great cost, imperium lets necrons build on some planets the anti warp pylons but Word bearers come out of the dark and create a shadow empire in the imperium nihlus to prevent the closing of the warp wall. we have a separated imperium fighting now full on choas with its own giant dark imperium. they can have now chaos army, there own anti Inquisition, the dark mechanicum comes out. logar becomes the counter force to guile man. chaos marines can start recruiting now and so on.

Any anons every go to Adepticon? I kind of want to go next year but wondering what the set ups like. I dont want to do any fancy tournament but id love to play some casual games, buy some bits, ect. They have open tables and spectator spots? Is it GW rules where the scent of resin will cause people to lose their mind? Other anons are saying to use nuln oil but I find that makes armor look really muddy at least without a lot of fiddly cleanup after. The fast and easy way I know to do marine armor shading is to start from a black prime and use a large makeup brush to brush on from a very dark shade of the armor color up to a light color. You can optionally do a few manual highlights at the end to make it look more high effort than it was. Gives you bright clean armor and if you do it right the recesses are still black or very dark. Also, I rarely use contrast paints but Guillieman Flesh looks very good over gold to shade it.

You're not wrong, but learn to walk before you run, IMO. Just adding wash is a big step up in quality from single colour layering, and multiple colours of varying intensity might be a little much for where he's at. Plus he'd have to redo all his gold.

Using a makeup brush for big essentially drybrush gradients is not technically difficult. It doesn't require fine application and can be done pretty fast and sloppy. It looks better than dunking models in wash, which really is kind of a bad habit to default to for every type of mini. For the hard armor surfaces of marines, I have found it more troublesome than helpful. There are more technical options for better results than my drybrush gradients, but I think it is perfectly within the realm of a beginner.

Calgar’s ability to generate Command Points doesn’t work if he’s not the Warlord, something that can’t happen with Gulliman. Maybe not an issue with house rules where you don’t use that rules update, but it was generally a welcome change due to how broken it was. Either way I would get more big guns in either Tanks or Dreadnoughts for that list, and use left over points for transports.

Good start, newfriend. I'm not sure if it's a trick of the light, but the terminator closest to the teleport homer looks the best of them, especially on the head. I'd suggest repeating whatever techniques you used on him because he looks so much better defined.

Also, if you are US-based, consider checking Target for the Dawn of War: Onslaught board game that GW is releasing, it has a really good marine sprue (pic related) that would ordinarily run you $150+ for just 50 bucks. It would round out your force nicely.

Secondhand prices aside, you're essentially getting 5 units for the average price of a single unit

I'd go to Target's website and plug in your zip code to see which stores are expecting them. A note of caution, per their website "in stock" doesn't mean that you can necessarily buy it yet, just that they have or will get that many. That's what burned me, both stores listed stock but wouldn't sell it yet because I assume they have some internal street date for my region.

When I first got into the game in 2014, I was beyond garbage. I lost every single game I played against my friends, even when they were making deliberately bad plays to try and throw me a bone.
I got better through sheer exposure and I had a blast having my space marines die gloriously against their armies.

Last night, my Master of Executions saw my friend's Captain from across the battle field. We're doing a Crusade right now, and that Captain wounded my MoE in the last battle, so he wanted to settle the score. I said to my buddy that the MoE shouts at his squad, "Leave that filth to me!" before nailing the 10 inch charge he needed to cut the Captain's head off.

Instead of paying 70 bucks for a particular miniature (a justiciar in this case), you can make your own justiciar using another miniature and an unofficial, 3rd party sword part.
An Easy-To-Build (ETB) or "snap-fit" miniature of a bladeguard veteran is sufficiently ornate to pass for a character, has some cloth parts that painted black would visually identify it as a Justiciar instead of just another bladeguard, is significantly cheaper (10-15 bucks per), easier to find and even comes on the same base size.
If you're going this route, I'd advise getting another head as well. Justiciars take the vow of silence, so a helmet with smooth faceplate would work.

you want to convert frateris militia/frateris templars, for that you need to find models that can be made to look somewhat close to the 'crusaders' because unfortunately gw only made 3 models of them

you could borrow heavily from the trench crusade lines, but if you want plastic stuff you'd need to find a suitable plastic kit of knights that can fit the scale and another kit of fanatical cultists for sci fi bits

tow's knights of the realm on foot and necromunda's cawdor could fulfill those needs, but I'd go for recasts of them if you need to make a whole army

Durability depends on the meta. The current meta revolves around Knights and Death Guard so everyone is packing answers to high T. But your local meta may vary significantly so consider that.
