It's going to take me awhile to sort through my gamefound order, but so far my first impressions on the second printing of Earthborne Rangers and all these new expansions? I'm completely delighted by the presentation that the creators put behind this game. It has an aura about it that just takes my breath away and makes me want to dive in and see all the wonderful new things that are laid before me.

The chibi wooden meeple are darling and I am so thrilled they're double sided. Truly the best accessory they've produced yet, next to the hiking map. Here's a look at a little of both! This is it folded in half, and it has a real travel guide on the back, complete with descriptions of all the locals and different hiking trails laid out for you to explore in your own time.

It depends of what you consider a card game.
For me Earthborne rangers is in the middle of a CardVsBoards chart. Middle Earth ccg is more on the cg side, ER and old Underworlds is in the middle of the chart, new Underworlds is in the miniatures side.

Full contents of the two biggest expansions coming out with this fulfillment. The Stewards of the Valley expansion is incredible, I love the new spirit interaction mechanics and they do not feel instantly like powercreep because there's lots of hoops they have to jump through to engage with spirits. The story teller profession's gimmick revolves around fatigue stack manipulation and providing supporting buffs for the rest of the other rangers. Combined these two make a powerful tentpole for any team.

Earthborne doesn't have tactical gameplay, those miniatures and chibis are just positional tokens. They deal with locations in the abstract in this game, so there's an obstacle to traverse that's nearby, and if you move your ranger token onto it then you can perform tests to clear it. So you don't need miniatures at all to play, they're purely cosmetic and could be replaced with acorns or a feather if you're really inclined. You can't do that in a miniatures wargame, it wouldn't really work because you have to measure distances and facing most of the time.

It's very risky to play unsleeved because the cards are printed with vegetable ink and by design are not plastic coated, so I think you need enough for the following minimum:

>24 sleeves for the challenge deck, gets shuffled the most of anything
>35 sleeves per ranger, 30 in and 5 or less out
>100 sleeves for the pathdeck, weather, story cards etc

All three of those you'll want different colors for, so two packs of 50 in different colors plus a pack of 100 clears for the path deck would get you enough to play. Keep in mind this means you desleeve the path deck when you drastically change biomes, but I'm talking like trekking from one end of the map clear to the other in the same playsession, which likely won't happen. If you want enough for all story cards and path cards probably a set of 200 clears would cover all if not most. You leave the ranger cards and story cards you're not deckbuilding with (a canoe full) in the box at home and do edits as the story progresses. If you wanted to sleeve everything the base game has, I just did a search so see below:

Game's fun outdoors, would recommend, but please don't take it out in the rain or snow.

Middle earth ccg you have a group(s) of characters going from site to site doing things but you just pick the site and put in front of them instead of moving the characters. Sites are not always available or have things happening in them, you pick them from a separate "deck" and put them to represent a movement.

Earthborn you move the token that represent the characters into the site cards that are in play on the "map".

In Underworlds you move the miniatures on the grids (no messy measures) you can use anything as the miniatures too.

On a CG - Miniatures Games scale:
Middle Earth = 95% CG 5%MG
Ebg = 75% CG 25% MG
Underworlds = 55% CG 45% MG

Axis/Neo-Zeon is already Red. Plus, it was in Gundam War as well, although they're not following that perfectly. AUEG was Blue for instance. Liop depends on if you were playing original AEG version or FFG.
I liked the AEG version of combat and battlefield assignments, making things like cavalry charges and naval first strikes very potent.
The "I go - you go" rxchange for actions in various phases on both players turns was often intense, though complex combat did risk evolving into beancounting time given enough simultaneous fights and tricks.

I was under the impression that neither Marvel or Star Wars were ever going to be considered for Lorcana. There's still plenty in the Disney catalog to explore, anyway.
