>Thread question:What's the coolest looking cavalry unit?
>TQ
Well its obviously going to go to doomfire warlocks. they're so fucking cool and higlight what dok is all about amirite fellas?
on a serious note, its gotta be deadblade horrors. I remember using those as a base for bloodknights when I had like 20 vampire count riders from the vampire dragon kits. I would also say pusgoyles, but those fuckers are prone to getting damaged. Also seams are a bitch.
>What's the coolest looking cavalry unit?
chaos knights
>>96225081 (OP)Coolest cavalry is a hard one since I really am not a big fan of most cavalry. But the eels probably are the most standout, I do enjoy the sea elves!
Is it weird I want more night haunt like the one cado has? Not even as a unit, just as dedicated bits.
Will they replace him at some point with a new Wight on foot?
Also, show me your skeletons. Especially if you give them glowing eyes or other parts.
>>96225254Iโve seen people use extra bits from the new horse hero to kitbash a wight king. But desu Iโm just gonna use the king of velmorn once that set comes back.
>>96225268Same. I'm so excited to get him. If that kit is available without getting the combined 4 squads then I may even grab 2. But The other 3 are fine enough that I may end up painting them anyway.
Well... I still don't like his existence but I tolerate the New Deathbringer slightly more.
Maybe it's just the fact I am that tired to care anymore
>>96225313What's wrong with him? I'm not a Khorne man, but I think he looks good.
>>96225330He's... okay... but compared to the Aspiring and Exalted designs, he really is lacking a lot. It's very ehhh
>>96225254they claimed to tweak the mould with the borrow kings release, no idea what they changed tho
>>96225387Almost certainly changing the base so that it's no longer a molded square base that needs to be cut to be placed on a round
After seeing posts on instagram of the new helsmiths, the army preview REALLY didnโt do the army any favors. The beard for the dude with gems on it looks so much better with an actual paint job.
>>96225379>>96225330>>96225313he really just kind of looks like a shirtless chaos warrior. the shield, axe, and helm are very chaos warrior-y.
Blood warriors, wrathmongers, and the other BOK characters have super dynamic posing, tons of skulls, and loads of trim to set them apart. this dude is not bad by any means but he seems a bit too stoic and not enough of a blood-crazed retard. This pose fits Nurgle or StD more, who prefer covering their faces entirely to look scarier.
Aos doesnโt have enough skulls. or edgy iconography. We need to make 2008 deviant art blush.
Look, I found an old artwork of morathi
in the slaanesh section of the realm of chaos slaves to darkness book
>>96225247I hope not, I want more people to get to love him
>>96225081 (OP)>TQThese little fuckers. Love everything but their name.
>>96225247>>96225254They probably will sooner rather than later, has a bit of a different look to the new skellies, same as the much more recent wight king on steed that they also got rid of. Might be the 5e sbgl pity hero or something. I really like the guy, he's pretty cheap too, gotta see if I can pick him up one of these days.
>>96226366You think? I cant wait for them, i need them, but i feel its too early. I think they will release the falconeer and the alchemist first, and then Helsmiths of Hashut
>>96225247>>96225254Yes, they sell this guy for like ยฃ10 and the yearly price increases alone aren't enough to realistically bump him up to the standard ยฃ28
>>96226546trust in hashut
>>96225330StD helmet rather than a Khorne helmet
>>96226366Chorfs in September/November is more likely
One month ago I announced my plan to finish my pile of shame. I pledged to paint 15 models in July. Many of you scoffed at me, you said it was impossible for one man to paint 15 models in a single month.
Not only did I paint 15 models in July, I did one better. I painted 16 models in July!
Not to brag, but I could have painted even more. Instead when I surpassed my goal I switched to building models to be ready for this month.
One month ago I had 121 unpainted models, I painted 16 models, now I have only 127 models left to paint (I bought more models)
>>96226569How do I flip this switch and actually paint?
>>96226569I now pledge to paint 25 models this month!
I know many of you will scoff, that's almost one model a day! Is it really possible to paint that fast? Time will show...
>>96226575How many models do you have to paint and how many do you reasonably think you could paint in August?
>>96226605Let's just say I couldn't even count them
>and how many do you reasonably think you could paint in August? No idea, never finished a single one.
>>96226626OK well then just pledge that by the end of this month you will paint five models.
Once you've done that you can make some decisions about what models you actually want to paint and what models you're going to sell until you get your self down to a countable (and paintable) number of models.
>>96226366i've seen influencers with early chorf models painting them, i'd say its pretty soon
>tq
I really like dawn riders. Them, Blood knights, and chaos give me the feel of a real fucking cool block of cavalry that'll shred it up on the charge and look great in formation.
>beastgrabbaz warscroll has no ranged weapons
They really just shit these out don't they
>>96226366>>96226643No way they're that early with all the stuff in GW's release schedule??
Several different places on the internet all triangulated late September early October for the spearhead release!
I mean, I can hardly wait for them, so I don't mind. But still, this sounds like wishlisting.
If the box releases we should see the warscrolls too, so we know if they really are missing terrain and manifestations. There's a few warscrolls (about 4) I have no idea what could be.
What's this flaregun they're talking about? Try as I might I can't find it on the models.
>>96226774It might just be a rule. Or it might be a bit of gear on a belt that we can't see in the pictures. I guess we won't know until the instructions/sprue pics come out.
>>96226569I remember your post, good work anon.
>>96226643Really ? Which ones ? Just the army box or other stuff too ?
Seems a bit early is all, took like two months for cathay to materialize after the reveal.
>>96225081 (OP)love these creepy ass ghouls
>>96225234Is that image supposed to be incredibly based?
Because it is
>>96226943AoS doesn't have weapon options
>>96225081 (OP)>TQHard to pick one. AoS is very well off in terms of mounted cavalry units. But I'll have to go with boingrots because they are literally flawless.
>>96227077> New ChorfsCheckmate
>>96225081 (OP)To me it's a tossup between Chaos Knights and the Stormstrike Palladors.
I'm still disappointed in how the palladors turned out. Not sure why they're on fuck huge bases (they're on 90mm, same size as the dracoth) with their stats. Hoping to see them drop down to 170 or so now that stormcast are starting to drop off, though honestly having a 2 more attacks on their lances, or damage 2 lances or rend 2 base feels more appropriate given their base and unit size.
>>96225081 (OP)Chaos Knights. They mog varanguard so hard it's unbelievable.
Dawn Riders are admittedly also very good, and they are the standouts in LRL for me.
>>96227077Some units still do, but they count as two different units in most cases.
Really wish they brought back more customization... Especially with heroes and items.
Whatโs the most technically well made/painted but awful model youโve seen?
Hard mode
>no Vince ratcast or furry verminlord
>>96227178God I still can't believe he saw how this conversion turned out and decided to put decent effort into painting it anyway
>>96226897>>96227150>Nobody is throwing hissy fits over female ghoulsCurious
>>96227210Yes anon. All the people who complain about forced DEI are actually just gooners, so since you can call them a buzzword their arguments aren't something you actually need to think about.
Feels good to be on the side of right, and owning those chuds doesn't it? You're so moral compared to all those misogynists.
>>96227107They won't drop them lower because of the wound count and heaven sent.
>>96227210I did at the time but I was more concerned with the flanderization of the faction at the time. But really it's not a faction I'm all that interested in. Cases like dwarfs, Darkoath and CoS where they ruin ranges that could otherwise be really good are far more important to me.
>>96227189Sunk cost fallacy, just remember he paid for a legit ushoran model to do this to it
>>96227178Another vince classic
Honestly I dislike most of the ""uh they're from chamon"" conversions, even when they're competently done and painted.
>>96227346>he paidDoes he really though? I mean I can believe it as he's a huge consoomer but it's equally likely GW sends him all their new releases for free. Being a big "influencer" shill even featured on Warhammer Community and all.
>>96227349This is a fairly common opinion on here.
I mean, cudos to his hobbying and painting skills.
But he fucks up every time he coverts.
>>96227349It just looks like a fucking 40K model Vince
>>96227349should have gave it the keeper of secrets legs. with a puffy
>>96227378This I really don't get. Even if that tech was possible in AoS, and between cogforts and KO you could probably get partway there. But you take one look at this and your brain just thinks "That's 40K"
>>96227373For his Cities army he said he was basically throwing stuff together from his bits box, so he doesn't plan beforehand which explains the Ushoran conversion being so awkward
>>96227210I mean arguably it's the only army where bitching makes sense if they follow a tired early middle ages chivalric ideal... Who cares, though
>>96227423They're deluded brets
Brets are now also egalitarian
>Who cares, thoughI do.
>>96227413Vince should be actually punished for those horrible motorbike cities.
>>96227340Yeah, I kinda miss the extent of their delusions (seeing bones as swords and being completely alien in reality to how they see themselves in appearance and action).
Now it's like they think their sword isn't rusted? Umm okay?
>>96227431No one cares about your opinion, though, you're beyond irrelevant
>>96227465Looking at this guy I think I would like the whole range 200% more if they were all in flayed skins/rags.
They're ugly in a cool way, but still a bit too ugly. Where as Nurgle is ugly but purely in a cool way.
Ogors and Sons are examples of being ugly in a bad way.
>>96227465You could argue they were just working with the models they had from WFB so it was just a cope but I thought it was neat that they were truly that deluded. But now they actually pretty much are what they think, just covered in gore and ugly.
>>96227431There's an entire board dedicated to retards like you, go check it out
>>96227498There's an entire website dedicated to people like you where you'd never have to hear a single dissenting opinion again but I don't see you going there either.
>>96227473>>96227498The cultural tide has shifted. It is you who are losing relevancy.
>>96226561>chaos arrows>hammer>skull>boobs>tall hat>no gem>no watermelon >no obstructive forehead plateharam
>>96227517She also exceeded her single digit armor scale count.
>>96227517As if the Helsmiths don't have tall hats?
I mean, they're not as tall as they are, but still.
>>96227532Honestly they're taller than the FW ones. Not sure what people were expecting. Straight up 90s models?
Not that it excuses certain design elements on the new range. But the hats are decently sized by modern standards.
I wonder how well integrated wights are into shyish societies.
>>96227389yeah it's 90% 40k parts with zero alteration.
IMO you absolutely could do a heavy industry, Chamon, Ironweld army. And you can incorporate 40k parts and it would still work. But you need to actually do some serious convering or even, god forbit, scratch building. You need to create something that is more than the sum of it's parts and at the end has a unique aesthetic.
>>96226569I pledge to finish my Mega gargant, Skrag, Droggz, my cryptguard, and my bad moon loon shrine this month.
Thank you anon, I'm gonna get back to this shit damnit and they're all gonna look great.
>>96227629Hell yeah brother.
See guys, this thread can be about more than complaining about women!
>>96227349I kinda wish CoS incorporated more lenses in their design, alluding to the astrological theme of Azyr. So more telescopes, more ranged weapons that use focusing lenses, maybe some dudes with scrying discs on top of their helmets to transmit live feeds to their commanders, etc. I feel like it'd make for a fun visual if the Azyrite culture of celestial observation had made them so capable in this one field that it became their default answer to any problem, even tactical ones.
>>96227649too high magic
the point of cities of sigmar as a new range is to push the mudcore underdog lowest man pov
>>96227649I would literally love that they split CoS into two: The free cities with technology like laser lens, Cogforts, cannons and tamed ogors through phrenology fantasy metods and the Order or Azyr religious side that use faith in Sigmar, guerrilla and zealots as weapons but they just made something like GSG and merge all in the most half-assed way, is pretty sad.
>>96225081 (OP)>What's the coolest looking cavalry unit?Besides the goofy heads and lack of wrists I still think Blood Knights win this easily. The Nightmares are awesome and they got some proper lances. The banner is also great.
>>96227641I enjoy these threads and the various anons, I've been in more of an deal hunting and trading thing recently too. Might as well actually paint these fuckin' models.
>>96227679>tamed ogors through phrenology fantasy metodsNot how Ogor Warhulks work
>>96225081 (OP)No one mentioned them but they are really cool.
>>96227583Depends on the city. The Hallost region, a sort of Valhall underworld, was colonised by Humans and Sigmar won the native's favour by beating them in duels. The undead fought alongside humanity.
In Nagash Undying King there's a human civilization that works alongside their undead ancestors, but this was a Nagash worshipping civilization.
It depends but there's room for everything.
>>96227587retard
>>96227795if manta
why shark?
>>96227773I do wish we got more stuff like this, I would enjoy just a big fluff book and some short story collections for various factions to help flesh the world out. The warcraft chronicles books (as much as blizzard fucked it up repeatedly because of that fat hack who wanted to fuck Sylvannas being the lead writer for like 8 years) were really fantastic pseudo in universe history books.
I feel like something like this for each of the quadrants (destruction, death, chaos, order) just compiling all the little character bits, short stories, artwork, and history of the realms would honestly be some good shit. I really do want to get more into Sigmar lore but GW doesn't output anywhere near as much stuff for it as Fantasy or 40k ever got.
(Also side note, Trolls are the coolest race in Warcraft. Vol'jin got robbed)
>>96227795Stop reminding me about IDK, I keep wanting to buy that cool water elemental thing to have as a Krondspire proxy!
>>96227801>Vol'jin got robbedYeah, but honestly, who wasn't?
>>96227801I know nothing about warcraft trolls except that they look cool, sometimes aztec with dinos, and are apparently ancestors of the elves
>>96227825They look cool, original ones were voodoo Jamaican themed, later on we got big empire ones live in giant city of gold with Aztec temples, worship cool gods and monsters. They're basically just lanky blue orcs with bigger tusks but the accent and blizzard over the top bullshit with the wooden masks and bone tribal look is sick.
>>96227825Trolls and Tauren are THE native races of Azeroth, believe it or not. Humans, Dwarves, and Gnomes are made from titan constructs that were given the curse of flesh from the old gods.
>>96227848Zandalari, my fucking goats.
>>96227210I throw a hissy fit over the lack of female tzaangors
>>96227848>original ones were voodoo Jamaican themedNot really. Are you a secondary by any chance?
>>96227801>Trolls are the coolest race in Warcraft.yes but not the Darkspear, they're literally the lamest of all of them
>Vol'jin got robbedlmao
>>96227856Is starting at 3 as a kid counting as secondary now? But yeah you're correct, it was basically a Tony Montoya accent originally but that didn't stick around (except heroes of the storm)
>>96227860EY FUCK YOU, even if you're right. I'd be more of a Drakari guy but I think all of them are dead. I'll still say I would enjoy a more tribal styled faction for AoS but GW kinda killed them both with Beastmen and the feral orks (admitedly the orks were like, 4 units total)
>TQDoes picrel count ?
>>96227768Great choice anon.
>>96227795>>96227799Still wondering what the fuck gw was thinking giving idk two more foot heroes and an incarnate instead of literally anything else
>>96227885>. I'll still say I would enjoy a more tribal styled faction for AoS but GW kinda killed them both with Beastmen and the feral orksLizardmen?
>>96227895Shit, how could I completely blank on that! But they're a bit too classy, I want a bit more grungy. Lizardmen are cool as fuck but a little too clean. I've started just associating them more with Sci-fi than tribalism.
>>96227888>does this fagbait that isn't even an AoS unit count???gee golly I wonder.
>>96227888Incarnate is cool as an alternative to the usual spells.
But yea the heroes should have been given weapon options duplicates by 10 and released as a pseudo cav unit.
>>96227904Yeah the range update either works for you or it doesn't. Definitely a bit too Old Ones focused now for my tastes.
>>96227885>Is starting at 3 as a kid counting as secondary now? Now? Starting any series at part 3 is counting as a secondary.
>>96227917Oh shit yeah! I am fucking dumb, I need to get some coffee... I could totally paint them with some warcraft troll theming.....
>>96227921I do have an excuse here, I was 4 months old when Warcraft 2 hit.
>>96227927>I do have an excuse here, I was 4 months old when Warcraft 2 hit. It's ok, we don't really choose when we're born, but don't talk like WC3 was the original.
>>96227927Honestly we could definitely do with a new tribal Destruction army that's something different, not a greenskin or ogre.
>>96227910I don't mind the incarnate, or the heroes, in a vacuum. But it does sour you a bit on them when they were the last thing the army needed. Oh well, at least the spearhead is cool.
>>96227985I hope IDK, Fyreslayers, and OBR can get some actual unit releases at some point.
>>96227950Silent ones incoming
TRUST THE PLAN.
>>96227989OBR has like 9 units which is respectable, though they still have some obvious gaps.
FS and IDK have like six total non-hero units each and some of them are basically interchangeable with each other besides.
>>96227950Sylvaneth should have been a Destruction faction.
Idoneth should have been a Death faction.
DoK should have been a Chaos faction.
>>96227910Incarnate is cool and all but... Seriously?
A whole ocean of marine creatures they could make units with: Octopus, gymnosomata, nautilus, sea horses, jellyfishes, starfishes, angler fishes, crabs, whales, mantas, dolphins... And just two heroes? Come on, James, come on.
>>96228098elves should be their own grand alliance
>>96228098>>96228109we should erase all elves but DoK.
>>96228111dok are the only ones getting erased
>>96228131how do people say his new name again?

>>96228171Like Malaria but with an E
>>96227314the base size or the points?
base size they've been hypocritical and not consistent at all in wounds on bases.
points that seems like a ridiculous reason with questors at 200 and shield annihilators at 140. Getting 10-15 wounds back on a 3+ save that can't do any meaningful damage (even if they could get the charge off from 9" reliably) isn't going to shift any numbers significantly. You can already do this with dracoths and it's not such a valuable strat people are taking them.
>>96228131This is the wet dream of all the shutdown teen enjoyers.
Here is the reality: DoK and Morathi in particular will keep existing and in charge, the best you can expect is to have something new (Spoiler: Will not happen any time soon)
>>96228289The points to wounds. 180 is going to be the absolute floor for a 15w 3+ 12" move. The only thing lower is broken freeguild cav. Questors can't reinforce, annihilators are slow and only 9 wounds. Dracoths are only 10 wounds.
They can do decent damage with +1 hit and finest hour.
I don't think they're good obv, but they won't drop much if at all.
>>96228329>Here is the reality: DoK and Morathi in particular will keep existing true
>and in chargenah, gw already introduced an opposition with the crone herald, and it's eventually going to shove shadow the edgyelf and his boys into the book, so the book will have to be rebranded
>>96228150This is right before 2nd Ed, so it's like 7 years old or something?
>>96228150>>96228400at this point I'm more curious about whatever the fuck went on behind the scenes to cause such a delay in the shadow elves than I'm curious about the actual shadow elves release itself
gw told an artist to make this artwork, at a moment in time when gw only made artworks that are direct references to models, gw had discussions about what malerion's story and faction would be and look like over 10 years ago, and evidently that was discarded

>>96228351I've played enough Corruption of Champions to know she has a cock somehwere
>>96228442Member the symbol that was used in place of Slaanesh's symbol?
is bad to expect malerion is death/trapped? at this point i just prefer that option.
>>96228483there's no reason to expect that, we have seen him appear in fluff a few times and last time he was mentioned he was said to be fighting tyrion somewhere
>>96228380this seems like a very oddly specific criteria for them focus in on, I don't think they design in this way. They gave almost every cav in the game atleast 3 wounds (which is why you see hexwraith spam taking off with them being only 160 at start of edition) and another damage on charge without adjusting for points and also removed battleshock without adjusting for points.
If I had to take a stab as to why palladors are priced the way they are, it's because stormcast were already doing good at the time they came out, and they're not convinced they not to be lower, more that the problem is vanguard palladors are that much better for the price.
They obviously had plans for Malerion. Whether it was just delayed or scrapped completely remains unknown.
>>96228442>when gw only made artworks that are direct references to modelsthis is behind the rock
seriously though, no, the same core book features originally fyreslayers and Grimnir/Vulcatrix

>>96228508>I don't think they design in this way.Based on what, a unit that went to 200 almost immediately? Grunters have sucked since 4e and IJ as a whole have sucked and they stay 180 because they have too much value as a screen. There's 100% chance FG Cav go up next BS.
>>96228566What happened to these kits?
>>96228566>>ardboy on wyvernthats literally just the mawcrusha?
Reposting cuz I'm bored at lunch and I like it a lot
>>96228522That plus pic related makes me believe that in the middle of GW trying to kill off Slaanesh they intended Malerion to take his place in AoS and the Ynnari were going to succeed in some degree of getting rid of him.
>>96228547It says scene because that book is like a transcript of the Realmslayer audio drama.

GW clearly had plans for them, it's just funny they knew the timeframe wouldn't permit them to show it so they presented a unit of kitbashed monopose heroes
Fury of the Deep arrived. Very excited, the minis look good and everything is pristine and sealed. Ready for a good, hobby weekend for sure. Anyone else working on their projects today?
>>96228822Getting back on my wardens when I come home from work. Just coming back from lunch now, though. So Iโm gonna be stuck in the wage cage a few more hours.

>>96228858Nice. Mind if I ask your opinion on the LRL range? I remember being here for the reveal and how it was pretty divisive. Looks like there is new stuff in the line now since I last payed attention to AoS.
>>96229035Not that anon but the guy who's painting the orange ones above. After getting into the lore I actually really dig the whole spirits of the land thing. It sets them apart from just not!high elves especially knowing they are still permanently flawed. Cow helmets on the infantry are still wack but can be worked with. Otherwise hurrakan stuff is very cool as add the heroes we've gotten and river blades. Feels different but a cohesive vision which can't be said for some other AoS original armies.
Wouldn't it be better to spam Wolfgit Retinue than Snarlfang Riders? 35ppm with a 5+ ward Vs 24ppm with D6 moves out of combat, identical otherwise
>>96228625Damn where is this from?
This whole time period is so fascinating to me, I really want to know what gw was thinking with some of the choices they did and did not make. I remember a lot of people scared they were removing slaanesh from both fantasy and 40k
>>96229057Big fan of your paint scheme, Anon. Thank you for your take on the army. The helmets do still throw me, but the newer stuff gives it a bit more of a cohesive and Elf-like look, in my opinion.
>>96228644bro think he's Radagon
>>96229064Wasn't it like the 1st edition core book? Barely anyone bought it because rules were only 4 pages and were free.
>>96229058Retinue isn't spammable, each one requires a boss. The boss doesn't even take the retinue, his primary purpose is to buff snarlpack damage and the snarlfang's purpose is to screen. Retinue does nothing.
>>96228625>GW trying to kill off SlaaneshThere were certainly trying to phase Slaanesh out. Even Archaon's mount doesn't have a Slaaneshi head.

>>96229180>>96229214Damn that is bizarre. Maybe it represent slaanesh being captured by the elves or something ?

Guys, I'm looking for the first edition of the Sylvanet PDF. Does anyone happen to have it?
>>96229035Sure. So initially my impression was something along the lines of โReally? Thatโs what you went with?โ and my general sentiment was โThese sculpts would be perfect except for X.โ where X was an aspect of the model I thought ruined an otherwise fantastic sculpt. Examples were Warden spears, Stoneguard helmet toppers, Cathallarโs head crest thingy and hip-handlebars, Teclisโs face and pose, etc. Not directly related to eachother, but I after reading their lore I also grew to like the sculpts and leave my complaints with them behind, chalking up some of the dislike to the paintjob as well. Like in my models, where the official paintjob gives them a jumpsuit and some weird butt-cape under the armor, Iโve made the Bladelords wear separate pants and a top that is reminiscent of one of those Asian robes whose name escapes me right now. Decided my next army would be them or Malerionโs elves, but I think around the time the Horns of Hashut came out as well as the lore of KB Hobgrotz I figured Chorfs were coming before Malerion, and here we are today. Now Iโm at about 1400 points painted. Iโm still gonna get the better Teclis sculpt 3D printed to slap onto Celennar as well as replace the Stoneguard helmet toppers with Custodes plumes if I ever decide to buy either, though. A few other thoughts: S Some of the choices for assembly design of the models are puzzling and definitely donโt help in planning a project. Also, itโs weird to me that people got mad at LRLโs โwave 2โ when the army was pretty clearly not launched in โ1.0 launchโ state especially after GW told us they made so many sculpts in one of the Lumineth Lowdown articles. Iโm not expecting much for LRL this edition, I think weโll see a reboxing of the Riverblades, a Ydrilian Rivermage, and a dual kit for the Aelementor, Generic River Spirit/Daixo Whitecrest.

>>96229297Thanks! Itโs cool seeing your stuff(and other anons) come together as the threads go on, too. I like the vibrance of your color choices. Dude, I canโt wait to see what they do with Tyrion. Especially now that him/Teclis have the ember of the Ur-Phoenix. It kinda entrenches me further into my speculations that heโs gonna have a phoenix companion like Teclis has Celennar.
Man, I want nothing more than to start work on my army right now, but work out duty calls. Best of luck to all of you Anons on this great Friday, WAGMI, lads. Enjoy your weekend and hobby work!
>>96229252Thanks bro, those are absolutely beautifully done. I agree completely with your insight and remember looking at the sculpts on release and feeling the same way about how they were good aside from one or two aspects that were just glaring enough to bother me.Great work again on your painting and thanks for going out of your way with that write up.
>>96229302I finally got it, thanks bro.
>>96229413Isn't the banner blade banner got tyerion and a big phoenix? Would love for him to return with a phoenix I'd nut. Appreciate the compliments, I like your cool (palette) on the shields, I'm trying to do this to mine. I just hope it looks as cool on the table in a block.
>>96229419>work out duty callsyou are 5ft nothing... It's over
>>96229378Buy the color you want as the midtone. Then look for the brightest non-white color to make the highlights out of depending on the color temperature you want. The whole Ice Yellow/Ice Blue method, but you can extend this to other colors, too, like pink, green, and orange. A kind of guideline I like to use is to scan the paint rack and see which color catches your eye. The quicker you notice it, the more likely it is a good color to mix in as a highlight. As for shadows look for the darkest colors that arenโt black and mix a bit of that in. Think dark purples, greens, blues, browns, even burgundy, etc. You generally want to avoid mixing straight white and black because it kills the saturation of the colors.

Fucking why?
>>96229413I don't play loomies but I'm cautiously hyped for tyrion. Blind god of light and war is peak pseudo-mythology. Iirc even before the ur-phoenix he was associated with the phoenix right? the conversation is about whether using a dark elf symbol for slaanesh is common or not
and it really isn't, the one example brought up in one of slaaneshi twins representing a specifically exceptional connection to one dark elf character
now, are there any OTHER dark elf symbols you can see used in the slaanesh range?

>>96229508But they have enough helmets that they can all be men. Not so for many new kits. Plus the Chaos Warriors sprue is still a faithful upgrade to the original kit.
>>96229508Ovbiously he doesn't.
>>96229447Chorfs have two, maybe three pretty different aesthetics, that they also tried to give their own spin. I don't know how gw decides which ranges need 1 to 1 updates and which needs redesigns. I'm guessing because chorfs never sold that well they felt they needed to take a bit of risk. Then again high elves were immensely popular and they also went in sort of a different direction for them, so who knows.
Oh and skellies are pretty different no? At least as different as chorfs are.
>>96229419Good shit anon

>>96229031They should really make their own book for the mongolian sun chasers. Give them Snotlings, more gotta go fast and warmachines and maybe more beast. But GSG shouldnt have to share releases with them.
>>96229530what exactly do you think that people actually mean when they say /pol/
hint: it's not "someone who specifically browses the /pol/ board enough to be considered a regular"; it just means "posts racebait and talks about 'DEI' and diversity constantly"
>>96229520yeah sure its totally because its random dead hours usa.
>>96229528Well they have female shields as well but we'll see how things turn out.
>>96229555How is pointing out that GW are forcing DEI into the setting considered racebait? If they didn't want push back, they shouldn't have done it in the first place.
I wonder how much their chorf designs changed between the Slittaz and Horns of Hashut and the actual release
>>96229526they probably went with a new aesthetic because
1: the old old aesthetic had a pretty strong undertone of racist caricature, which they are trying to remove from all of their IPs
2: the old new forgeworld line is probably going to be reboxed for the old world.
also anyone who isnt up for a whacky redesign is playing the wrong game to be honest. i dont know how anyone makes it this far into age of sigmar, with lumineth, kharadron, kruleboys, idoneth, fyreslayers, etc and think a 6th-8th ed whfb lookalike was anywhere on the table
>>96229585I dont know but that design looks way different than what we got. I don't know what happened.
>>96229591I don't see how the old design could be considered racist at all. Hell no one complained when the TWW3 DLC came out, and a lot of people got excited because they thought it would light a fire under GWs ass to take inspiration from how CA did it. Alas...we for...whatever the hell this is.
>>96229447I didnโt know paint forced you to paint things a certain way
>>96229447Never and i mean NEVER i will understand chorf complains...
Man, we were talking hobby and lore here and you just HAD to shit up the thread.
>>96229630Probably because you are a midwit who wants all media to be the same grey slop and then move on to the next franchise to ruin.
>>96229622I ended up on reddit and they sperged about the noses and antisemitism specifically.
But besides that GW really don't want to do overt historical influences anymore. Which is a shame because Mesopotamian aesthetics are very underutilized. Honestly I thought chorfs were one of the most unique WFB creations. A faction that wasn't just "Tolkien on steroids"
>wfb
>tolkein

>>96229652>Mesopotamian aesthetics are very underutilized.yeah because they suck.

>>96229622>they thought it would light a fire under GWs ass to take inspiration from how CA did it.apparently not after they saw the dlc sales numbers rofl.
>>96229704That's not racist propaganda, that just depicts their true soul form.
>>96226569>(I bought more models)One must imagine Sisyphus happy
>>96229718Isn't like a contradiction like X thing but be unwilling to support said X? Grogs did the same with Fantasy and that lead to it's dead. A dead they have been mourning decades.
>>96229447so that the chorfs in TOW aren't range compatible with the AOS ones
>>96229836See there is the issue though, is that there AREN'T any chorfs in TOW available for sale at all. I guarantee you they won't be releasing them either, save for maybe a rerelease of the FW kits and only those.
>>96229854I really don't see it happening. Even when they still sold them for AoS a bunch of the molds like the skullcracker and deathshrieker rocket had already broken.
>>96229447Has anyone made a comparison because it looks like they took Azgorh and gave them 3rd edition tophats ubiquitously to me
>>96229854> I guarantee you they won't be releasing them eitherthats what everyone said about every old world kit thats been brought back from the dead. old world is full of discontinued shit no one ever thought they'd bring back, thats kind of its whole shtick
>>96229886I guess they could be keeping their options open for an eventual tow release down the line more faithful to the forgeworld release. Don't see that happening anytime soon though.
>>96229854>I guarantee you they won't be releasing them either,I wouldn't say never, but they're probably pretty far back, I'd guess that geedubs will want to add kislev after de-russifying then then go the the core armies, then the legacy armies that have as little crossover with AOS as possible, so I suspect we'll get chorfs before skaven, but skaven are at the complete bottom of the pile because any new models they add could also be used for AOS (unless the remove a clan equivalent from AOS)
>>96229577It's not real pushback, you're just one guy who continues to fund them
>>96225387>>96225401I kinda wish they made his sword more worn and broken looking. I love the rotted blades of the newer skeletons.
>>96229922It's honestly one of GW's stupidest mandates, the idea that armies must be entirely separate between game systems. Like why the fuck can't Beastmen exist in both games? Utter retardation.
>>96228483Broken realms hints that he's fighting Tyrion.
>>96229962Do you know how much it would cost to put two sets of bases in each box? Do you think they're running a fucking charity?
>>96229577Araby does exist as seemingly the only area in the world with dark skinned humans. But there doesn't appear to be any black Africans anywhere in the Warhammer World, which makes me wonder where the fuck those guys came from.
I wouldn't be opposed to Chaos tribes at the southern tip of the Southlands being inspired by African tribes.
>>96229976The funny thing is I would be fine with buying separate bases to avoid the retardation we have now.
>>96229923What kind of bubble do you live in where you think complaining about DEI is a minority opinion?
>>96229992he means among the people who matter.
>>96229962Oh for sure, it's completely retarded, but untill that particular member (hopefully there's only one) of c-suite is attached to GW we're going to suffer for our sins, and sadly a lot of what they're doing indicates that the no straight cross-systeming is a core design choice, hence why I suspect skaven or liggers are aeons away from full refreshes in TOW, while elves or orcs could easily be mostly re-done with minimal cross-systeming
>>96229999This kind of attitude is exactly why the western world's governments are all retarded and falling apart by the way.
>>96229704Hashut, their Mesopotamian, not Canaanite, their the enemy of the Jews be they Assyrian, Babylonian, or Persian. Fuck all the dumbshits who just see jews and moslems as anything middle eastern, the true genocide that should be talked about is the one that ended Zoroastrianism, and Mesopotamian Culture.

How do you come up with an interesting paint scheme for an army that feels like it only lends itself one real style? I struggle to think of any colors for Nighthaunt that aren't just the basic color GW uses because it reads to me as peak spooky.
>>96229992GW make record breaking profits every year.
>>96230085GW themselves did made of blood and made of quicksilver alt shemes for them. It's jsut a metter of being creative, with an obvious shortcut of treating them like a liquid
>>96230085white blood stained rags
>>96230085they basically have these as schemes
>ethereal >physical >bloody>metallic snowflakes>blanchitsu/monochrome>gimmicky OSL/fluo/vantablack>themed with bits of other factions>mixture of the abovebut even within these you could play around quite a bit, say for example you fluff them as ghosts of the bog, you'd get to decorate the mostly empty bases with a lot of water effects and you could even apply the same dirt and tufts on their crooked backs, as if it's the swamp itself rising up to kill
or you could think about what to do with the robes first and foremost, maybe each ghost is wearing as robes the banners of some faction or the heraldic device of some nobles, maybe all the robes are the tattered pieces of an enormous map or spellbook (where you can get mad scrawling in coastlines and routes or texts and magic circles, all over an off-white paper colour), or maybe the robes are swen together flayed skins, or reflect the emptyness of the stars
>>96230085The standard colour scheme is great but there's alternatives
>>96230085bloody rags
actual flaming ghosts
radiant glow with green fluo
neon colours for 80s arcade feel
these are all valid designs
>>96230022okay but the problem is they didnt look like this. they looked like racist propoganda caricature.
>>96230085I think one anon painted them with yellow shrouds and checkered bases and it looked pretty good.
>>96230200Oh my god just shut the fuck up you faggot. Why weren't you complaining about The Empire and Bretonnians looking like inbred morons with big stupid teeth and ugly faces? Because you are a faggot who lives on double standards.
>>96229469The aelves never have this problem
>>96230015Best to just mock the reddit colonists and move on. You can't argue with them, they're literally subhuman.
>>96229447tbqh I wish Seraphon were less faithful to Lizardmen. As fun as aztec dino-riding dinos is, I want the fulfillment of the promise of lightning-blooded angel lizards.
Now that the dust has settled, why did the Helsmiths of Hashut flop?
>>96230085I have seen a lot of ghots paintschemes with lots of creativity i think the key for not make them boring is to decorate them, blood, chains, glows...
>>96230200Meh I don't think ancient mesopotamian is a relevant enough aesthetic (nevermind an extant one) for there really being stereotypes.
The only thing that I can realistically see being 'problematic' is the hooked nose, it's not like tusks or ringed beards are a well-known racial stereotype or anything. Hell you can even see this in the forgeworld range, the noses are pretty normal sized, while the beards and tusks remain. It's not really a new decision at all honestly
Will Ironweld Engineers ever be able to buff Ironweld cannons again?
>>96230282I can just tell some weird fetishist drew this.
>>96230380they're gonna buff the mountain of rotting plastic sprues in the landfill behind nottingham soon.
>>96230282I vastly prefer aztec lizards to angelic lizards, but I very much liked the idea someone presented of either having stormcasts that get reforged fused together with dracoths into dragonmen of some kind, or dracothion having his own race of humanoid dragonmen paladins that could fight side by side with stormcasts as additional units to their roster.
I also think this extra (sub)faction of not!lizardmen would hardly step on the feet of the classic lizardmen, and if anything it would serve to bridge the gap between the aesthetic and theme of stormcasts and the one of lizardmen who are technically amongst the closest allies to sigmar, weirdly enough, and have been since the first books of the setting, but they just don't look the part at all.
I also viscerally dislike the name seraphon for lizardmen, so I'd appreciate it a lot if it was actually the name of these true children of dracothion, and if lizardmen were called seraphon too only because azyrite scholars wouldn't know any better.
>>96230085>pick 2 colors that fit together>pick a color for wood and metal that fit the other twoDone, you got a good looking nighthaunt scheme

>>96230380Yeh, in Spearhead only
>>96230428they should give me an incan lizard subrace

>>96230428The dracothion stormcast lizards are pretty un-seraphon like and I think they would look out of place next to normal lizards (at least the image/description presented). I think they would fit better under stormcast, though honestly still seems kind of whack. Maybe warcry would be the best place for such a concept. I do agree on seraphon being kind of an odd name, I guess it fit better when they were full on constellation order demons.
>>96230488Why is it that incan is such an unknown aesthetic compared to the more well-known pseudo-mesoamerican one. Is it just proximity to the us and therefore more cultural influence ?

>>96230550Have you looked at the models anon. Legitimately.
>>96230395A Japanese professional artist, so yes, you are correct.
>>96230521If they wanted to appeal to warcraft players they should have done a draenei knockoff, another elf faction, or some kind of order furry race
>>96230488>>96230556I lowkey thought they had the same aesthetic I didn't know they were that different from one another. I thought they were like native Americans where they all share a lot of similar cultural queues
>>96230556>they would look out of place next to normal lizards (at least the image/description presented). I think they would fit better under stormcastThat was the idea
Space lizards stay as they are in their own book
Dragonmen go with stormcasts in their book
They would stand side by side only if someone where to bring a regiment of renown for the other or a 2vs2 players scenario, and in that the dragonmen act as a sort of visual bridge between the lizards and the stormies
>>96230085I like green tones for them
>>96230635Based and Slimer-pilled.
>>96230617I'm a yuro so I don't know too much about usa natives but incas/andeans are pretty distinct from the classic mesoamerican look. Square shields, copper axes, maces and halberds instead of obsidian macahuitls, the animal skin wearing isn't really a thing, etc.
Still some shared elements of course (feathers being a common theme) but once you get to know the two you really won't confuse one for the other.
>>96230622It still feels kind of odd to me but I like the creativity. I would like for dracothion to be a little more present, instead of just providing this edition's stormcast mount flavour (which in 4th is morrda's job apparently)
>>96227629Alright, took some time today to polish off Droggz. I'll be honest the checkerboards are not fantastic but from far enough away no one will ever be able to tell...

>>96230726I'm still waiting to know more about the six smiths. Apperently Grungi's sons, the mother(s) unknown, build the entire fucking armoury of the Stormcast. Their names? We don't know. The reason they're content too this endless task? We don't know. What they did before? We don't know. Do they have kids or lives or friends or get fucking paid? We don't know. Why do they forge such specific items? We don't know. We know Stormcast get beast bonds to emphasize victories, but how do they know that? Does Sigmar send a divine bar code on his guys when they go back on up? Does some random Stormcast exist to tell them to make 500 more axes, because a new chamber is due to pop up?
Despite being the 6 most important beings in setting, we know nothing.
>>96230775I find checkers and zigzag are way easier if you sketch them out super lightly in pencil or your bright colour and then do your first pass with thinned coat of your darker tone. Then you can erase your pencil marks and tidy up their edges and strengthen their midtone
>>96230085When I was contemplating starting these in 2nd Ed I was gonna do cream cloaks with bronze metal & shades of azure for their bodies and ghostly effects.
>>96230838Oooo that's a good idea, preciated anon. Side note, you think the gradient on his little sun... back... thingy(?) looks any good?
>>96230836We actually do know one of their names : Ong, which is khazaliz for one. Maybe we'll find out more about their mother once we get to know more about hashut and how relates to the other ancestor gods. And yeah the pseudo-mythology angle is a really fun one that I wish aos leaned in more. Yeah yeah mudcore is fine and all but give me some more of that higher than high fantasy shit. >>96231108Not gonna lie. I kinda miss that SCE aesthetic but i think the evolution of AoS has been impressive from this hard beginning
>>96231099It's pretty funny how secondary has basically morphed into this boards' 2025 equivalent of poser.
Anyway, nurgle has blightkings, slaanesh has myrmidesh, khorne has...wrathmongers and skullreapers (?), but what do you think GW will do for tzeentch's chosen-equivalent ? Curseling-style mutants ? Something even more chaos spawny ? tzaangor brutes ? They could go in a lot of different directions.
>>96231088The blending is lovely
>>96231108i will never forgive them.
>>96231162Same, GW is bastard man
>>96231152Tzeentch already got Enlightened tzaangors
>>96231162I'm not sure it would have bothered me as much if their 3e tome hadn't been so delightful.
>>96231162>got squatted twice within a single decadeCosmically hilarious that gw's treatment of beasts matches the in-universe treatment by their gods. My heart goes out to all boc players.
>>96231191Not really the same archetype are they
>>96231152If they don't start giving Tzeentch proper chaos forces i don't know what they pretend to do with the faction. They need something resembling true Chaos warriors like pic related.
>>96231162was this really needed? i mean they didnt even update the faction a single time, and they had a huge range that could be done in an appealing way.
why not even give them the chance? they had a fanbase. i mean, surely more than fyreslayers for example.
>>96231162How is that related in any way?
>>96231221As I understand it GW wants to separate the product lines of its games so they can better gauge the popularity and profitability of each individual IP. The TOW team wanted the model range and got it, meaning AoS couldn't keep it. It's just as simple as that.
>>96231217>i don't know what they pretend to do with the factionThe plan is BUY THE FUCKING TZAANGORS PEASANT
>>96231221>they had a fanbase. i mean, surely more than fyreslayers for example.Less than Fyreslayers, actually.

>>96231280Yeah the same reasoning is why 40k players can't use Heresy stuff anymore, which I'm pretty sure hurt Heresy even more than whatever 3rd just did.

>>96231704Honestly all Khorne mortal models are great
>>96231704You have to be fucking retarded to discontinue something like this guy
>>96231768The multipart kits for Blood warriors and Reavers suffer somewhat from fantasy multipart sensabilties, monopose ones are just better
>>96231774This is cope. BIG COPE.
but maybe they're making them exclusive to the next war-cry iteration?

>>96231359That's a nice model, but what's the deal with her spear?

>>96231898Lame, but I still might pick one up.
Uh that's a lot of updates what the heck changed.
>>96231916I still canโt find where the changes are

Hey, does anyone have the two 2nd edition Lumineth PDFs? I say two PDFs because two Lumineth books came out in the second edition.
>>96232097It's 4 inches so they could fight in like 3 ranks with 32mm but now everyone has the same melee range
So now that the leak confirmed that AoS is just a roundabout way to fund Warhammer Fantasy for some of the higher ups, why are we still investing in this system?

>>96232157I think it was a combination of factors. Mainly lower than expected demand. Despite being limited edition box it flooded the market relative to people who wanted to buy it. Youโd think after dominion they would have learned.
there any tomb banshee proxies out there from third party sources? Dont really wanna field, just need it for decoration.
>>96232157Dual faction starter boxes are just a bad, outdated idea that only appeal to "I NEED THE NEWEST THING' consoomers. Not everyone has someone to split a box with, and even if they do then only one person can keep the core book. The 40k boxes only work because the contain Space Marines.
>>96232157Because people is fucking tired of seeing Stormcasts in the initial box of an expansion. Is time to shift the fucking focus.
>>96232535Stormcasts are not space marines, thats pretty much it.
GW wants to make them such, because if you have space marines, you can make the starter boxes that are desired by 85% of your audience.
Stormcasts vs skaven box will be interesting to SC players, and Skaven players, togethere it like what? 15% max?
Grand alliances will make a return in 5th. Soup, will be allowed, and you will get exclusive units in grand alliances. Trust the plan.
Also monsters will become dynamic terrain upon being slayed, kinda like how tanks worked in 40K 4th edition.
>>96232157AOS is not as popular as GW think it is
>>96231774I missed out on this release but just checked out the store. What the fuck they squatted so many good models.
The bearded dude with the spear was one of my favorites.
Fucking why?
>>96232772Its a bummer that they aren't selling it anymore, but the aspiring deathbringer and the two exalted deathbringers were officially rolled into the deathbringer warscroll. So they are not being sent to legends, and will honestly probably see more play now.
Honestly how the swords equal to the spears at all? The spears are daemon powered and have reach, the swords have neither of those.
>>9623319710 year olds might put the models together wrong anon so the majority of the player base canโt have weapon options
>>96233210these ones will have though
>>96233224They havenโt shown anything in gameplay terms yet. More likely itโll be two separate warscrolls

>>96233197>>96229622the handles and the beard look like they have the same texture
>>96233335Honestly the moldlines are going to be a bitch. Just like with stormcast spears.
>>96233197I'm simply not expecting the two weapon options to have different rules
the reveal article mentions units and equipment options very clearly, look at the different emphasis between these
>Within these ironclad daemon engines burns an inferno of tormented daemon-matter, and the malice of those entities leaks from their eyes in hateful waves. They can be armed with bane maces or immolation cannons โ and either option will guarantee a bad time for the foe. >Another kit with dual options, the Infernal Razers bring fire support to the Helsmiths. This set of five models can be built with either Grizmalok blunderbusses or Karagthrun flamehurlers โ and both are utterly deadly. meanwhile
>The black heart of the Zharrdron warhosts are formed of Infernal Cohorts. Drawn in the main from the stock of the royal clans, the finery and pomp these duardin clad themselves in does not detract from their pitiless martial skill. Many of their regiments take to battle wielding spears ablaze with daemonic energy, forming a wall of death that advances to the sound of arcane gongs and grinds down the foe without mercy.the demonic power up will be in a generic rule for the unit and the difference between spear and sword will be purely decorative, I can bet on it
So apparently chorfs hate hammers but what's with the lack of axes?
>>96233378The hating hammers thing is giga retarded when their whole thing is forging
>>96233385I'm fine with their units generally not using them because it doesn't really fit their theme but yeah it's still retarded to apply to the whole faction.
>>96233240Two warscrolls from one kit is options
>>96232143>Go back to tending your labubu.fucking kek, good one
Any good Maggotkin colorschemes outside of shades of green and brass?
>>96233430Pure white skin with orange boils + black armor
Now that the dust has settled, why did kurnothi flop?
>>96233378they hate* hammers because it's a symbol of grugni, so the only hammers they use are in the hands of slaves or are "reconsecrated" to hashut with blood sacrifices and used by officials
most probably the same is valid for axes too, as symbols of grimnir
*I'd not say they hate the things themselves, as much as they would probably have a very different ethic about work and tools, normal dwarfs treat their tools more or less with reverence, each of them is a work of personal artifice and the use of the tools is always seen as important and noble as the worker using those tools
meanwhile it's likely for the chaos dwarfs to see tools as tools, see them mass produced without the 'soul' of a maker, and forced in the hands of slaves who must do the work for you because you order them to, not because they're capable or because they take that duty
in time the chaos dwarfs would likely separate themselves from the "tools of the slave" and and instead build their culture around different symbols first, returning back to the hammer and axe only in a new recontextualised way
maybe the hammer, when used as symbol of office or the priesthood isn't valued as the tool of a maker, but perhaps the tool of an unmaker, like a satanist would use christian imagery specifically to subvert it, while perhaps the axe, may not be seen as a tool of a warrior, a defender, but as the weapon of the executioner, or the defiler of nature
there are certainly angles and nuances they can explore and that I'm sure they will not explore
Where do I find the pdf's for the 3rd edition battletomes? All the links out there are dead
>>96233461the cooler models in there have helmets, masks or some other way to cover their faces
clearly all kurnothi should wear a face-covering mask, if not an animal mask, especially in the case of the satyrs
fuck beastmen anyway, extinct little shits
>>96233467fucking tastlet
>>96233368>the demonic power up will be in a generic rule for the unit and the difference between spear and sword will be purely decorative, I can bet on itAnon they literally said on stream that the swords and spears have different abilities.

Holy shit Wood Elf bros it's happening! Kurnothi are going to be eating well now!
>>96233461They've literally only ever had one release so it's impossible to gage whether they would "flop" or not as an army.
>>96225254This model still looks good and still fits the aesthetic of the current range, if this model came out today you wouldn't even notice the difference. Still though... what's with GW updating an entire range minus one model i.e Saurus old blood on foot, clawlord ect
>>96233551I legit prefer the one we got on the right.
>>96233551>>96233566Yeah, I kind of also love the actual model even if I think it needs another paint scheme

>>96233874>Any truth to the idea that Age of Sigmar is unpopular and slowly dying? Not really, no.
Speculations regarding what may or may not have been said in-between the lines of the investors reports whenever GW mentions age of sigmar would suggest that it's never quite matching the performance they expect it to have for the resources they throw at it, but that's always been the problem of the fantasy side of things at gw (or for anything that isn't space marines really), and that's also far from saying the earnings from it aren't still positively in the green and more than enough for them to keep working on it and expanding it.
Especially because at the end of the day their aim is to build a game and an ip, and the latter is a very long term effort.
