just finished the night lords omnibus. it was breddy gud. i like that they didnt make them cartoon villains but also didnt make them secretly le nice guys after all (except sometimes with their slaves). the ending battle was also cool as fuck, i love hopeless last stands. it pissed me off that cyrion fucked over uzas like that at the end. i sort of knew something was up with uzas not killing the old guy in blackmarket but i hadnt given it much thought so it did surprise me. overall 9/10 probably as good as 40k novels get. what should i read next? i'll probably stick to marineslop unless the genestealer book is really that good

Had a game vs Guard as GSC today with a Rogal Dorn at 1000pts. I just ignored it at someone's recommendation and won by a good margin. Also Purestrains are the GOAT at 75pts with only costing 2 resurgence points to bring back, you can simply recycle them 3 times for an additional 225 points to have at 1000pts which is big.

20 Neophytes + Primus managed to wipeout Kasrkin + Taurox and lived one turn to sticky the objective. 20 neophytes later died to Dorn Shooting but I had already stickied the objective for consecutive turns, plus there wasn't really anything left on the other side to do objectives.

The Genestealer book is pretty fucking good, basically shows you the entire roster from a Neophyte Hybrid's point of view. It's also equally an Admech book, if we're talking about Day of Ascension that is. I really enjoyed it as an audiobook while painting stuff.

The Exterminator can do that as well, it was the Ordnance rule on their guns that stopped the Battle Tank/Demolisher from being able to shoot reliably while moving.

It can, but from my (admittedly limited so far) experience a two shot twin-linked weapon will generally get you more hits than a small blast template unless the other player has a brain failure and bunches their models up really tightly. The Conqueror's gun will also just straight up miss and do nothing 50% of the time with IG marksmanship while the Exterminator re-rolls make it very reliable. If the Conqueror fired a large blast I could see the justification for a points bump and make it probably worth taking, but with a small blast it feels like a complete stinker of a unit.

genuine question by a relatively new player here: why do people lose their fucking minds getting mad at primaris? i get that as an in-lore event its kinda tacky, and it didnt really need to be a thing, but people treat primaris as if theyre the devil incarnate and the worst thing to ever happen to the setting. why does it matter that much? its just a slightly taller space marine. for me at least, my homebrew marines are just primaris because those are the models on sale, i dont particularly care one way or the other.

2. the primary reason is it was done was to update marines into a better and more attractive scale to make better looking marines but the designs are on average uglier and worse and only now recovering with some decent primaris models.
3. the lore surrounding primaris was pretty weak and really was a major toneshift from previous 40k stories that tended to expand the current time period rather than advancing it into Era Indomitus. most people would prefer 40k grew horizontally instead of linearly.

The Terminus decree really exposed the lore secondaries for not knowing much about the lore and just want to complain.
A codex isn't objective information, it is a primer on the army written from in-universe sources. Novels are (unless shown not to be such as the PoV of an unreliable narration) objective information and already told us what the Terminus Decree is.
Also take two seconds to ask yourself, how does the author of the codex know what is written in the box? Only the Grandmaster of the Grey Knights can access it, and he is currently stuck in the warp 99% of the time.

If he stands up or ascends to godhood or whatever Malcador knew he needs to be shoved back on it because no one else can power it. It's PART of the worst thing to ever happen to the setting, which is the whole narrative thing with dark imperium. But that's kinda not a huge deal all things considered. In terms of tabletop, you gotta remember that when Primaris came out firstborn were still at 1W. Primaris were HEAVILY favored ruleswise and that pissed a lot of people off. This kept getting worse in 9th, and now in 10th they culled a lot of the firstborns' army. Imagine if they made new Dire-er Avengers that were 2W, shot better, had better rules, and then squatted all the Aspect Warriors and jetbikes, so now all that's left of Eldar is Guardians and Night Spinners.

The Exalted sorcerers kit has like 7 heads, 6 staves, 3 optional capes, the disc is optional, 9 pauldrons, 6 alternate torsos, 2 arms with swords and a couple other things.

The kit "limits" you to 3 dudes because there are only like 3 bodies and power packs, but even these are compatible with the rubrics kit and you can shuffle things around.

Go crazy, it's one of the last great kits out there, where you had both options/choice and a lot of extra bits to pimp out other fellas

Painted a couple dwarfs today. The Kharadron scheme needs a couple tweaks but I'm pretty happy with it, and I'm ecstatic with the Votann. This has decided my hobbying for the rest of the year, I'm going full dwarf.
