The human male fighter meme honestly seems like more of a nogames thing. Most people start out with human male fighters that tend to more or less be various degrees of self-inserts. We switch away from them because Fighters are not particularly mechanically interesting, and your options are very limited in combat.

Also, the kind of person who would treat a Dwarf as a personality type instead of as their own character is also the same type of person that’ll just self-insert into every single human character they make instead of thinking of a unique personality for them.
