Apparently the new IDK book details how they make their arms and armor a bit. It involves heating the metal like normal and then repeatedly switching the Ethersea localized around the blade on and off so that the pressure of the deep itself becomes a "hammer". Among the mild disappointments in some of the other lore tidbits, this one is fun and ridiculous but still cool.

I don't think many have picked up on the fact that the magic rocks the gits use is a lie detector, it glows when close to lies or even thoughts about trickery, which in grot society means it's going to glow all the fucking time
We're not given the specifics on whether it glows only relative to what someone thinks it's the truth or relative to actual objective truths, it's probably very inconsistent about that due considering the wacky nature of greenskins and their gods, but here we're talking about pieces of the bad moon themselves, it's quite fair to say they will react relative to what's the actual truth regarding what the bad moon did, if it even remotely wants so

The good gameplay shit came with malign portents. But 2e summoning was by far the dumbest shit I've seen in this game. Tzeentch casually playing 2800 worth of models because "it's free". Not to mention armies having summoning that it made no fucking sense. Don't forget a faction got TWO battletomes before some factions got 1. Lore is debatable. The whole "chambers" shit didn't help SCE beat the sigmarines allegations and nothing happened for anyone outside of death. Revisionism is a hell of a drug.

I like 4th ed's base rules the best of any edition so far(especially with the GHB out now), and I'm one of the few that like the removal of direct lore connections to sub factions(battle formations).

I didn't get to play 2e, but I enjoyed the middle ground 3 was between 2e and 4e. What I do wish these editions would take from 2e is a larger map with more units on the board. Tired of playing a game that continually shrinks and no longer resembles a war game.

They are 90% good, but some things should change.

There should be second row attacking for infantry keywords. Monsters should get 3". Otherwise 1". At the very least they should have still specificed range on weapons but made everyone 3". At this point they've put themselves in a corner.

Counter charge as it exists, limits how designers can create units or especially melee armies. It's too open ended, and its strangling army identities. I mean I can see it, hat has the same general shape, only thing that they did was add those front plates that one anon hates that have the gem and cover the nose, no scalemail on the arms but the gloves and general undershirt are the same, even the leather cuirass on the chest instead of just more chainmail. I might just be falling into the trap of coming up with an idea and matching things to fit that bias but I do think there's somethin' there.

Side note, I'm not happy about the goofy sleeveless blunderbuss units because clearly they designed it around the idea of it being a flamethrower. But if I did do them as flamethrowers I could give them welding masks and that'd look pretty sick....

As an IDK player, power through is an incredible movement tool I can use to slingshot my units where I need them, even eels, because 4 wounds each puts them above most infantry.

Mind if I ask a gameplay question, how does one effectively screen with chaff units? I'm dumb as fuck and like running giant models and monsters and I'm also wondering how one gets AROUND screens. I primarily play death so I don't have any guns to just shoot shit dead. I think my biggest annoyance is with how the battlefields are laid out I can't get a giant flying bat into the backline because my opponent just lays their dudes out in a way to leave no room for it to sneak in via flight.

exactly, it's a free trade for units that already have better statting than many battleline infantry. It also shuts down any attempt to do anything other than run reinforced hammers, there's not much point of a tarpit or an anvil if people just walk away.

Giving it to everyone now would make something like Ironjawz or Beastclaw raiders feel less unique, because they are factions that feel like they should be able to power through.

They're "idealized" chorfs. Taking design cues from I imagine forgeworld and OG stuff while still keeping the general "feeling" of chorf in check. But I don't entirely hate the old models, I do genuinely enjoy the old metal era stuff, they've got a lot of charm to them and remind me of playing heroquest with my dad.

The map is so small that even with screens you should be able to charge & pile into something juicy. You don't necessarily have to attack the target you pile into, just whatever is within 3".

If they're so well screened that you can't get anywhere, then that usually means they're just sitting way too far back to do anything meaningful next turn without you charging into the screens. Just get on the points and play for objectives and make them scramble to get everything up the board.

Or you can just crash into the screens, kill just enough of them, and target something to power through away.

Nah this was a no elf list for DoK, they had 2 reinforced blocks of snakes, snake hero, Morathi, reinforced bow snakes, and 5 of the warlocks that they would stretch vertically and move around to screen me from hitting them. Was an absolute shit show because Morathi is a blender and I can never determine how much I want to throw away into her to try to kill her, and since I'm death I'm limited in options to deal with her safely. As for standard I spose I don't know, other than the DoK I've fought all guns skaven, and all blood knights SBGL, I think my last normal match was months ago with just a lizard army with just a little bit of everything.

But you are right, and I can't complain (except about Morathi's stupid 3 damage a turn shit) I've got loads of bullshit in my armys. Katakros is a walking god, Chadakhur and the endless skeleton tarpits, Ushorann just in general and bring back a full block of reinforced bats in one go. I'm still (relatively) new so it's just learning the ropes at this point.

No N'kari or Azazel in Age of Sigmar is a bit odd.

Stormcast can do it with finest hour and one of their multiple ways of getting +1 to hit. They get some reliability from prayers and their auto prayer artifact as well.
Slaves will get it with their khorne banner or hero fight with me and AoA.
Slaanesh you have +1hit and wound trait for your keeper, Shalaxi gets easy 2+/2+ vs heroes, +1 to wound spell, +1 to wound aura for Lord of Pain, +1 to wound from terrain, on demand exploding 6s which is virtual +1 to hit.
Nighthaunt get universal crit auto wound and multiple sources of +1 to hit and wound off their heroes. very easy to get +2/+2 bladegheist blobs with chainghast. Their book is eminent though.

I think it's nonsensical that powering through after charging into combat lets you move your full movement in any direction. Usually when something charges into combat it intends to stay into combat, except chariots which want to keep charging.

If you want to spin it as "I'm a motherfuckin dragon I can do anything" then they should stop selling it as a wargame because it's not. Monsters also suck, they don't make much sense in a game without a strength paradigm and probably need something more distinguishing.

This is on tier with if you're in combat your unit volunteers to not attack (which you can't). It's not thematic and its immersion breaking.

That's cool, I think there's an edition for everyone and 4e definitely isn't mine. There's some armies where I could easily see them having a great time, this might be my favorite edition for stormcast (magical intervention + translocation legitimately made them 100x more fun to play as) or s2d. Then you read the rules and saw everything was segregated by race anyway, which spoilt the illusion of all these races joining together.
