BLACKSHIELD CHADS RISE UP
Repeating for the new thread:
>>962751681. Banestrike shotguns are reliable enough against the main target Effrit should go after: MEQ infantry or weaker. They're a bully unit.
2. Nobody was using the saboteur in 2.0 either except me The new false colours rule actually made him better at being a distraction carrnifex, and now does prevent overwatch (and volley)
>Power daggers never were a main weapon, always a cheap way to get +1 attack from 2 CCW. It got even better as cheap sergeant equipment, +2 initiative means they'll attack before most characters. And it combo's surprisingly well with the AL gambit:>Set enemy initiative to 1>Pick finishing blow>Guaranteed to go first>Attack with a breaching 5+ damage 2 butter knife and steal their kidneys
Finalized a list that will fit in at my store. Most people at my store don't own much in the way of vehicles, so I didn't want to go hard on vehicles.
However, I'm always open to some advice and suggestions.

My list:
3 Centurions: 270
3 Tactical squads: 300
3 Rhinos: 180
Logistical Benefit: Missile Heavy Support Squad: 250 points
9 Missile Heavy Support Squads: 2250 Points
Is this a good list????
>>96275279It really is. MoS should affect it, or you choose aerial or normal each time for the +1, INT check to add another +1 to +2 max.
>>96275292That would probably be funny to play against, at least.
>>96275292Wait, that list is illegal. Here is my real list:
3 Centurions: 270
4 Tactical squads: 400
3 Rhinos: 180
Logistical Benefit: Missile Heavy Support Squad: 250 points
7 Missile Heavy Support Squads: 1750 Points
Typhon: 400 Points
>>96275292enemy Alpha Legion spams prime slot Land Raider Explorers with Malefic (immune to strength 8 weapons entirely)
100 missile launchers and unable to deal even 1 single point of damage to any tank.
>>96275301its super dumb in these half baked 4 turn missions. let people spend points to make it more reliable, common james
>>96275321Why do you have 3 rhinos
>>96275284Why does GW bother producing any animation that looks like fucking slop? The only good warhammer animations are Astartes and that thing on amazon
Techmarine and apothecary detachments let you take a single prime of each. What's the silliest thing you could do with a prime techmarine or apothecary?
>>96275301would be justifiable too.
In real life, the quality of inter-service cooperation differed drastically depending on the quality of the radio teams.
If the spotters on the ground can't figure out north-south-east-west for a fuck and are shitty at telling landmarks or giving good directions where the insurgent attacker forces are hitting them from and what the danger zones are and where friendly forces should be avoided, then an A10 warthog might decide it's too dangeorus to loiter and shoot at ground targets he doesn't know are friendly or enemy, and just head off back to base so he doesnt get his own airplane murdered circling.
With a really skillful, helpful trained crew on the ground giving ideal directions and popping colored flares to indicate friendly and enemy zones readily, the air support may feel like it's worth making a 4th or 5th run on enemy positions to buy the guys on the ground some relief.
>>96275338Points limit. The fourth squad forgot theirs, they left it on the strike cruiser by mistake.
>>96275368cool- now post the lore
>>96275344Well they're only specialists, so not much. Use logistical benefit to cram in more elites or retinues or something, maybe.
>>96275368I feel absolutely nothing from this picture.
Imagine all that work to be too much of a coward to have picked a legion.
>>96275397>durrr I shill for legions hurrrrrr Your Dudes sucks durrrrGo back to writing for Warcom, faggot.
>>96275387Do all the legions' prime traits apply to troop slots only? Master sergeant apothecaries would be funny.
>>96275252Thanks for reposting, anon
>Effrit should go after: MEQ infantry or weakerI would be laughing if it wasn't so sad :( I reckon Effrit's job is to be nearby and sabotage people, meaning they could use a short range gun. Like a shotgun (which Stuns). But the measure of a gun being good is a combination of good AP (which it doesn't have), high firepower (same as a bolter's) and high Damage (only on a 6)
Banestrike combis tack Breaching 6 on a 4-shot gun, so they get by. Shotguns lose half those shots for extra damage on a 6.
Doing all of that...to stun tacticals? At that poing just Panic (2) with actual Seekers idk
>>Power daggers never were a main weapon, always a cheap way to get +1 attack from 2 CCWI mean, not anymore. It's what I'm sad about
>>Set enemy initiative to 1>>Pick finishing blowAnon, setting the enemy at i1 *is* the gimmick; can't pick Finishing on top of that. Meaning daggers need two hands: one for the actual melee weapon and another for the knife
Meaning it's artificer-only, as no terminator would ever be armed with just a knife.
This also uses up an arm that could be holding a shield for +1i for your Hammer instead
>>Guaranteed to go first>>Attack with a breaching 5+ damage 2 butter knife and steal their kidneysThis does like a single wound on the target
In fact I'm having second thoughts about the AL gimmick. So, the other guy goes last. You mean your character attacks normally, and the other guy picks Finisher instead?
By the time of 2nd round's Focus roll, you'll be more wounded than the other guy, meaning you still pick gimmick first, but you'll might attack last unless you Seize. And you can no longer afford to tank a normal attack to charge up your Finisher - you're already wounded from the first round! D:
>>96275344I really thought the new Primus Medicae was just going to be a regular Apothecary who studied the blade. They'd be WS5 2W A3 after all
>>96275407It varies between affecting command, champions, elites, or regular troops and such.
>>96275407Apothecary doesn't have the sergeant trait, it can't have master sergeant.
>>96273932>This is the first time I've ever needed to use fucking PowerPoint to build a list for a wargame.Building a list right now feels like juggling, seriously. Wrote this one before the Damage Control pdf arrived.

>>96275324Im adding it to my houserule buffet list

>>96275410Effrit aren't purely a shooting unit. They soften up and debuff a target with their shotguns, then charge in and finish off the survivors with their power daggers.
They can also equip the entire unit with meltabombs for a mere 25 points.
>>96275441Here's the secret
Step 1) take whatever the fuck you want
Step 2) insert some centurions
It's that easy. I've written a 5000 point list with 10 units of veterans and all it took was some centurions (granted, that was an ultramarines meme list with a praetor, 3 centurions, and 6 optae, but that was purely for the 10 man character squad and I could've done the same with a praetor, delegatus, and 1 other prime slot Detachment)
>>96275441I just tried newrecruit for it today, that was the first and last attempt I'll ever make at an HH3 list. It's not fun to build at all.
>>96275344I don't think there's anything notable you can do with them.
>>96275504>can't even give blood angels apothecaries perdition weapons for angry medics
>>96275474Tried Newrecruit like last week, tried adding a DG detachment and it had 3 slots instead of 4. Guess it wasn't ready yet.
>>96275457Oof
>>96275470Eh I'm trying to lessen the HQ footprint of the force by as much as possible. I suppose I could take as much advantage of Logistical as I can.
One AL Centurion can unlock two Leviathal detachments, plus three logisticals and one Rewards. That could be a thing
>>96275527Yeah it's in beta and it's purely volunteers right now, so there's errors that only get ironed out if people actually report them on the github.

>>96275618Effrit also have 2 attacks each, so it's 20 power dagger attacks. And 2 wounds. I've played them a lot last edition, they can clean up troops all game long.
Wish Headhunters also had 2 wounds 2 attacks, they're so fragile and pay for having power daggers but only have 1 attack...
>>96275618I was looking yesterday and the only squads I could find that could take all melta bombs was thallax and headbunters, I'm pretty sure their gimmick (with legacies) is supposed to be infiltrating with combi meltas and multi meltas and either one shooting a character with precision 4+ combi weapons or blowing up a tank
>>96275621NO IT WAS A DIFFERENT GUY HE HAD LIKE A BEARD OR A MUSTACHE OR SOMETHING??
>>96275620Yeah there's a video I remember watching once which I vaguely recall was a tech demo but I also can't deny it was an incredibly vivid and intricate dream I just remembered for some reason.

>>96275636Yeah the 3.3 is 10 effrit with power daggers, so 20A. So, 10 Headhunders do 1.66, which is the same as Assault marines into them because they don't have 2W for chainswords do Shred on.
But hey, banestrike shotguns are assault weapons! That's interesting.
>>96275721>To be or not to be?

Autocannons may not be the end of all things, but I think Siege Tartaros are going to be fun. They certainly look cool. Look at the lil guy. He looks so sad, peeking from inside that cowl ;__;
I wouldn't want them having thunder hammers, but power fists would be totally fine
>>96275725Least grim Blackshield
Are Predators enough armor or do I need to get something a little harder?
>>96275744They're a neat option but too expensive in big squads and not effective in small squads.

>>96275770dangg that look good
Found this guy in the drawer, though I'm missing the melta half of his combi-weapon. Gonna use him as a centurion in DG and probably give him the Eternal Warrior prime advantage. What should his combi-weapon be?
>>96275858Huh I hadn't noticed the eagle mask guys. So that's where Suzerain helmets came from, I assume.
>>96275899What do you want
What does the squad have
What bits do you have
Otherwise I'd say combi Melta, the thing you don't have. Useless answer it'd be
>>96275919>he didn't know
>>96275926Will probably hang around Grave Wardens so maybe combi-grenade launcher to stay on-theme.
>>96275770Very cool pose. I think I'll have to save one of mine to make a diorama with. Maybe an EC one sitting on a throne watching a prisoner get whipped or something. Other 5 will be a TSons command squad.
So played my first game of 3.0 last night, AL vs NL, 2500. Lerneans are good as expected, headhunters are bad as expected, firedrakes are still good for theft, terror squads still suck, lightning claws are proper blenders, av14 is tough as nails now. Most legion lists should be able to play into each other, mech so far looks about even with legions, custodes will either crumple vs massed armour or tear through every marine CC unit that doesnt have a fist-which most people will never bring en mass since hammers are better vs most enemies. took a lot longer than 1.0 or 2.0, not sure if thatll improve even when everyones memorised the rules.
>>96275945Combi-grenade looks good with 2 damage and no limited.
>>96275949>av14 is tough as nails nowmany are saying this
>>96275949>doesn't have fistI'm confused. Power fist and thunder hammer are both high enough strength to wound on 2's, both are ap2, and outside sallies both are damage 2.
>>96275949>>96275962You gotta bring the right tools to deal with AV 14 now. On the other side very few AV vehicles have the volume of fire to really threaten infantry units, and vehicles don't interact with objectives at all. In my games I've ignored the wall of land raiders and kratos and still easily won on points.
>>96275949>Lerneans are good as expected, I'd like to hear more
>headhunters are bad as expected, Aww, how so?
>lightning claws are proper blendersDisbelief. Just what did he claw with them?
>>96275965This. Are they not T5?
>>96275980The termies are t6, but everything else is t5.
>>96275970Anon how do you ignore half a dozen lascannon and/or a melta blast gun? :O
>>96275949Here's my TAC 3k list no broken shit like bringing a primarch allowed, we play friendly around here :^)
135-Praetor, hammer/paragon
105-Centurion, hammer
250 or so-terminator squad-command squad or legion-specific, whatever's better
275-landraider, hull lascannons
185-Tac squad, mmelta rhino
185-Tac squad, mmelta rhino
185-Tac squad, mmelta rhino
185-Tac squad, mmelta rhino
355-Kratos, meltacannon, hull and sponsor lascannons
355-Kratos, meltacannon, hull and sponsor lascannons
650-fellblade
Let me know what else to bring with my last 135 points, do i have enough scoring? Everything's still grey since i can't decide on a legion :^)
>>96275985>half a dozen lascannonYou just take your lumps. 6 lascannons hit 4 times average, wound 3-4 times. A tank with 6 lascannons isn't going to win spending 3 turns to kill a 100 point tactical squad.
>>96275985Having more marines than the total number of shots those tanks can fire in a full game. Even the melta blast gun is only 2 shots, to kill 8 infantry it needs to hit and wound with everything and you need to fail all saves.
Oh and making a LOS blocking wall of empty Rhinos also helps a lot. They even have a chance to survive a land raider firing all guns into it now, it's crazy.
>>96275997I always like to start my lists with 30 corvidae autocannon tartaros and 12 laser destroyer rapiers, personally. Plus some divination librarians incase of characters. That and 4 rhinos with tacticals. Think I might get some Custodes to ally in though.
>>96275980>WS 5 again>High Ld stats>All the melee weapon options you'd want>Conversion beam cannons are nasty>Hatred marines>Line 1Lernaean have everything you'd want for an immovable objective camping unit. Can easily kick enemy line units off an objective, hold their own against elite melee units, good saves, and decimate enemy infantry with conversion beamers when not in combat.
>>96275965>>96275980That ones on me, must have looked at the back and mixed it up with the gravis fist below's damage, still better in general due to the better IM
>>96275970They're good at mulching elite infantry though, but if you leave a 300-point termie squad sitting around they deserve to get focus-fired
>>96275980One squad of lerneans with a conversion beamer squatted on my backfield objective and didnt die, the other and the firedrakes went up the middle in LRs and took several hundred points of night raptors down while holding the middle objective, his kratos and rapiers killed my raiders over four turns while our despoilers engaged in slapfights. Gave Master Sarge to the harrower and he succesfully bopped the jump centurion over the head while my praetor helped gut the rest of the squad, his claws probably didnt pay for themselves but did help chew through the firedrakes just by weight of attacks more than anything else
Headhunters did nothing and lost half their models to bolter fire turn 1, 3+ 1w elites makes them priority targets for anything and 18" range means you're gonna get shot by anything that doesn't have a better target
>>96276083>several hundred points of night raptors downBut was he using thunder hammers?
>>96276026>>Hatred marinesThe only weapons it affects are only AP2 on a 5+ or 6+ anyways. No hatred needed for TH
Wonder if the saturnine command squad is gonna be the unit that throws a wrench in the hammer meta. T6 means hammers only wound them on a 3+, and if they can all take saturnine war axes they're gonna cut through elite melee units like butter at initiative 4
>>96276139How are their bulky (4) M5 asses getting to the frontline though? Three take up a whole 250ish point Land Raider and Spartans are 400.
>>96276178Same as cataphractii do: land raider or spartan. Those transports were considered worth it for caraphractii two editions straight, when vehicles could disappear with one lucky hit.
>>96276114I think his sarge had one and it was the only hammerer in the one unit, cant remember the exact ratio but was about 2/3 claws on one squad and even splits of redshirts/glaives on the other. If he was full of hammers i'd have been toast. I was impressed by the claw output since i kinda expected the firedrakes to demolish that combat, instead they just about were wiped out. Glaives did fuckall and so the lerneans were the heros of the hour when they cleaned up shop the next turn-if i get some more printed i'm half tempted to stick claws on them to fish for 6s, and its not like the volkite was doing much for them anyway
>>96276139They won't get reaping against a 5 man.
>>96276178With axes you probably don't want more than 3.
>>96276178I'm assuming that they'll get a rule like "counts as a Saturnine Terminators unit for the Saturnine Praetor's telepotation transponder" (kill yourselves GW it's a 260 point model you could have just let them deep strike with anyone)
>>96276139>at initiative 4You mean at i3. If i5 praetors are i4 when wearing Saturnine, then Saturnine command will be i3
>>96276178Can't they teleport when the Praetor buys a 60 pts teleporter?
>>96276139...wait, Saturnine axes have no slow effect?
>>96276262>Initiative 3Still early than thunder hammers.
>>96276269Nope, unmodified initiative.
>>96276221Reaping does seem like a neat deterrent against lightning claw squads that might otherwise try to casino/wheedle the squad down though
>>96276272>>96276282Huh. Guess they'll be banking on that i3 yeah. The hammer would be i0 in their hands, maybe that means hammers will be character only
At S5, those axes will hit on 4s, wound termies on 4s, and need to defeat 4++ Invulns. They'd need 4A to kill a single cataphractii Jesus Christ they are Reaping 2 fuck fuck fuck.
What else will GW fucking STEAL from Death Guard? Scythes are a fucking joke
>>96275194 (OP)>Have you tried Flyers in 3e yet?Nope, because I only have a Primaris Lightning and they have vanished into the aether.
>>962763014A kill 0.5 termies, anon. You multiplied by the damage twice. Rip Scythes though
>>96276301>>96276309In return you need like 12 attacks to kill one saturnine with thunder hammers.
>>96276320Either way the attrition seems to be in the favour of the saturnine command squad.
>>962763013 command axe saturnine will kill like 2 cata. If the cata started at 7 guys they'll kill a bit over 1 saturnine. It's honestly pretty close on who wins this and with how many 4+'s are involved to hit / wound / invuln both sides will be very likely to whiff.
>>9627632012. You need 2 unsaved wounds, 4 pre save wounds, 6 hits, 12 attacks.
Archmagi are surprisingly badass dueling characters, I've been playing around with them and the sheer beef means a fairly affordable 140-170pt melee Magos will eventually fist their way through almost any non-Primarch character. I don't think they can take any Primarchs, although that's entirely due to the Primarchs reducing all damage they can put out to 1 and Archmagi lacking Eternal Warrior. I'll have to see if Angron can boss-rush his way through his points in Magi, just as a hypothetical.
Siggy goes down like a chump, though. He has EW, but he's only got 4 wounds and Archmagi are so damn tanky that his paragon blade just doesn't cut it. I would imagine the same goes for almost any praetor character, since they all seem to have almost identical gear.
How can you make threads with 800 posts every day? What the fuck is going on? I herd all deleted stuff in Legacy now. Is it solved the problem or not?
>>96276399Go to bed Rajesh, you have a big day tomorrow saar.
>>96276399Can finally have a reasonable discussion about the new edition now that all the spamming doom bots have moved on to a new shitstorm.
>>96276399It's wild. Some days I can't keep up. Also, there's no Assault Vets on foot, but I guess that's Centurion command squads anyways.
Many Centurions didn't get all their wargears options back, but unironically that's livable.
The problem is that I don't like Phoenix rapiers, Shrapnel bolters fucking suck and so do Power Scythes, so that's 3 out of 4 down
>>96276356Malagra Archmagi can reach 9A, which is the threshold where chainfists start comparing to power fists against infantry.
Because yeah, you need 9 fucking attacks to negate their -1A.
Minus 1 attack is that big a penalty
>>96276356I think a Custodes tribune probably does it. Ws7, ew2, 6 + impact attack at s6 with crit blows.
As an aside, if you have 2 instances of crit blow (6+) do they stack in any way?
>>96275194 (OP)>>Tactics>https://1d6chan.miraheze.orug/wiki/Adeptus_Titanicus/TacticsDoes not work
>>96275241>Becomes black shield>Instantly forgot what maintenance isWhy do normies like this trope ?
>>96276546Dirty marines is probably the worst trope and trend that happened to warhammer.
>Muh fighting for a monthHow incredibly bad are your marines that they fight for a whole month?
Most books and cannon games 3 marines need 2 hours to do some incredibly massive objective.
Blackshields are just funny. Like you can have a demi-company of Raven Guard lose comms for a month and once the next time anyone hears from them they are wearing armor lime green and copper and are calling themselves the Inimical Warders. It embraces the hyperfixation with pageantry and melodrama that all Astartes have.

I'm building my first Contemptor Dreadnought and trying to choose what weapons to give him. Am I missing something because Gravis Plasma Cannons seem to be hands-down the best option.
A 5" blast seems incredibly generous for 2 plasma templates and HH3 template rules make it super accurate. Just seems to mog every one of the standard weapons with the possible exception of Lascannons because they actually have a job to do.
>>96276581Because this is 30k, not 40k.
Space marines are the primary military of the imperium, waging war is their (main) thing, not special operations equivilent stuff that is their main thing in 40k.
So yes, just like imperial guardsmen in 40k, or soldiers in real life, they are very likely to get into situations where they get dirty after fighting for months, or are effectively cut off from friendly territory with no means to resupply.

>>96276719a lot, actually. you'll spend a lot of points and not get that much out of it. if you want herohammer, you want to apply all your amazon prime advantages onto chosen sergeants
>>96276764Maybe I'll just have to pour my conversion ideas into making a bunch of 'master sergeants'. Vulkan, a delegatus, and a praetor gives 7 prime slots, plus you can take Immolation Covenants to get master serg sanctifiers.

Huh. You can technically use dark emissaries to staple together other characters and units without penalty. Like if you wanted to put Ahriman in a unit of deathshroud terminators for reasons beyond me, you can chuck a dark emissary in there to do so. The best use of this I can think off the top of my head is chucking Maloghurst in Lerneans for line 2 termies, but that's probably too many eggs in one basket.

About 3 years ago, I bought an age of darkness box. Bought a bunch of thousand sons bits. Some thousand sons 40k kits for conversion purposes. Started painting them.
I painted about ten, then quit and put the box in my closet for 3 years because I started to hate how ornate the thousand sons were and wanted a more grimdark scheme. Problem is, I have all these thousand sons kits. So, from a money perspective, the best option is obviously to just...finish up the thousand sons.

Then Angron had to save Lorgar's life from desk analytics guilliman.
No one has ever had to save Corax. He's just the same as Jaghatai/Fulgrim/Konrad except with the added wings that instantly make him and Sanguinius overpowered. Some units might be overtuned (sanctifiers, deathwing companions), some armies might be better than others, but its a matter of increments and "well this thing is just a few points too low" rather than a matter of bullshit.

>>96277926>change Corvid to 6+ rendI think the corvidae power just shouldnt work on heavy weapons. Making it rending(6+) makes it useless on the regular thousand sons units (since asphyx bolters do the same) and rending is not on its own problematic.
Just make it not work on heavy weapons, which removes the biggest offenders (autocannons). It still works on plasma but thats more manageable.
>vulkanSure. Although I dont think a primarch being too strong or too weak matters too much, theyre rarely taken and their overall power is generally wasted in every fight that isnt against another primarch.
>>96277947both plasma guns and the tzeentch dmg2 plasma guns are still both far too universally effective with rend5+, considering they are so very affordable for slicing down justaerin like they're weeds.
They deal melee style cost-effective damage except with zero need for a transport, charge tests or letting the enemy swing back in melee.
>>96277926>raise Vulkan points cost by +70Nah.
He should still be around the 460 points mark like the rest of his brothers.

>>96276440Yeah, he might manage it, although I think he'd be better off with the solarite fist - he has an init edge anyway, and an Abeyant archmagos is T7 or possibly T8, you'll want the Strength even with Finishing Blow against the Magos' Flurry of Blows. >>96277968Plasmaguns and the aetherfire plasma are at least (relatively) short range and on fragile carriers. Autocannons have the distinct pleasure of being long range and something you can take on terminators.

>>96277998OK, looking at the Custodes characters, yeah, Valdor will blend an Archmagos in melee, since he gets free pick of gambits and can just shoot up to D4 critical hits. Unsurprising, he's over twice the cost.
Regular custodes tribune is quite close, acutally - he can't take the solarite power gauntlet, so he's stuck with a D1 S6 weapon. With Finishing Blow he does 1.55 wounds to an Abeyant archmagos per round and the Magos does 1.25 back with the Malagra gambit, but the Archmagos has one more wound, so statistically they both die in four rounds of swinging with what I think is optimal gambit selection. Custodes has an init lead but is rolling 2d6 pick lowest on Focus, so it probably comes down to the situation and the exact dice on Focus rolls/magos int tests/who got the charge.
>>96278058Dominion Zephon. Just file off the destroyer icons on the jump pack

>>96278086He's littered on 3d blood drops
>>96277977you're right, I guess point cost wouldn't solve anything for making him enjoyable for beerhammer duels with 99% winrate there, so probably best to just make his 1h hammer dmg2 (crit4+) and keep EW3, that makes him and morty the two unique defense guys, while leaving Ferrus/Lorgar being the big hammer offense glasscannons. He'd still hit the basic brutal breakpoint it'd just be on finisher crits and he'd still have the nice heal and okay initiative for the weapon, just he'd have to choose to prioritize attack or defense not get everything free every single turn.
Such a simple fix too, that GW would've realized if they'd ever playtested it even once before printing.
Played first game, other guy got two line units on two of four objectives turn one, I only got one, and then my vanguard failed the charge against the center objective turn one. He also got first strike so game was over by the bottom of Turn two on points
The game isn't bad (mechanically) but the progressive scoring with line means if you get ahead by enough early enough the game is just over.
>>96278123Make his gambit a once per challenge and make his hammer dmg 2 crit 5+ would be my go to.
He ios already T7, 7W and 1/2s to hit immunity on top of EW3. A Heal every turn of duel unless denied is simply too much (remember there can be multiplme round of duels in a single mele phase).

From the sounds of it anons opponent just had a much stronger early-game and anon wasnt able to sufficiently come back in the late game/dominate him past that point (managing to claim more objectives and do more damage in the first turn).
>>96278243I feel like "big admech robots" is skirting the "vehicles" territory a bit. Although I guess if dreads are fine (are they?) then idk. Still, if youre really hurting for AT I suggest rapiers or doritos with the lascannons (its no vindicator, but its longer range and more durable).

>>96278363>>96278378The pack only having 4 is an actual criminal act and should not be tolerated
>>96278252Don't forget how he clearly didn't bring any long range status inflict either, or he'd have been able to stop a unit from scoring for a turn or two. Or how VP's are doubled for the losing player on turn 4 if they've got half or less than the current winner.
That said, the method for putting Objectives down is fucking dumb in general and Crucible, the mission he was playing is the worst offender of this: and basically just means that one player will get two and the other player will get two and you just camp there all game.
I am almost certain the rules designers actually just played MCP the whole time and tried to steal as much of their scoring system as possible, except they did it REALLY badly. Because honestly? I would have preferred that game's Crisis System to this.
>>96278252The first thing is what happened.
If you pack the objectives with line it's going to be game over if you can't get pushed off. If I would have made the charge and killed the unit off with my vanguard there would have been some of a game left but it didn't happen
However, they really could have anticipated this being an issue, it's literally the same complaint people have with Ligma; it just devolved into spamming infantry on points almost immediately
>>96278473Ok that's cool. I'll allow it. Don't fuck it up anon
>>96278478The blaster being a strictly worse heavy by not having assault is also criminal.
>>96275241>>96276546>Becomes black shield>Steals the closest jet bike instantly
>>96278482I do wonder it people are aware that you place objective markers before even rolling for the deployment map, long before players pick their table edge. Because with that you want to place objective markers somewhere near the centre, so you can be sure you can get to them. It is a real bad idea to place an objective near a board edge, only for it to be the wrong table edge due to the deployment map rolled, or giving it to your opponent because you lost the roll-off for who gets to pick deployment zone first.
>>96278488Yes, if you get an early lead and then both players go even from that point on, the player with an advantage wins, thats just how games work. Thats the point of a lead isnt it? It can be as simple as "I went first so I shot first so I crippled his units" or "I scored an early point more than my opponent, and we then scored equally until I won".
That doesent sound like an issue, it sounds like "the nature of games".
>>96278494It is less points. Stands to reason it would be worse.

>>96278352Hot take, but I do think a plasma cannon HSS might be a sleeper this edition. With how accurate blast weapons are it's easy to get a lot of hits, and a shit ton of Str 6 hits are bound to do damage even disregarding the breaching.

>>96278507It might well be the 'nature of games' but if you can call the game before each player even gets two full turns in, what the fuck is the point.
>>96278550You can only "call it" in the sense that one player now has an advantage. If you, as the player with a disadvantage, cannot then make up for it by outperforming your enemy you will lose.
Chess, checkers, warhammer, card games, its just how games work.
>>96278550>mission type is randomized>both players placed objectives>deployment was randomized>player B made better choices in his list, deployment, and movement that led to a win>get mad that you loseThis is what kids today call a "skill issue"
>>96276684Yes especially when the marines use gorilla warfare
>>96278559So yes, if my opponent scores two points to my one point, and we then continue to get the same number of points for the rest of the game, he will inevitably win and we can call the game. My job is to (well, first of all my job is to make sure he doesent get that advantage over me, but past that point) find a way to score a point or two more tham him in subsequent rounds and find a way to mitigate my opponents advantage.
Am I likely to get it? Probably not, but coming back from a losing position shouldnt be easy, whats the point of playing well for most of the game if you randomly lose to some bullshit last turn? Seems silly right?

>>96278570No mate, it's a *design* issue because a satisfying tabletop game is one where a player's choices *on the tabletop during the game* are what lead to victory, not when certain combinations of pre-game factors lead to foregone conclusions.
Of course 3.0 is fundamentally opposed to that philosophy in its very core; short games with progressive scoring are literally designed to minimize the impact of on-table decisions and limit actual tactics in favour of listbuilding & random factors so they don't have to worry their Thinkmeat with anything too strenuous when they should be focusing on the anime slapfight phase that's been added so their 200 quid resin figurines can act out the shitty BL novels.
>>96278599NTA, but what has line (3)? The only thing I can think of is Mechanicum archmagos has comptroller (3), but the important thing to note about that one is it only improves their victory point scoring, not their tactical strength, so 4 tacticals on an objective still beat 10 castellax

The range of different weapons ranges and threat types is, for melee weapons, a lot more "samey" now. There isnt as much weird stuff as before, no random D3 Ap- weapon or whatever.

Some people can delude themselves that a laser vindicator will be dmg6 because the enemy will choose to drive out in front of it and park without shooting it dead or simply parking somewhere else... but absolutely no one could actually believe an AV14 would park itself 8" from an entire squad of multimelta bikers who can all see it and who his army won't instantly kill in 2 seconds of shooting. Now you gotta bring the Praetor himself to supervise the Centurion. There's only about 20 Praetors in the entire legion, and one of them just happens to be in your every game huh

Games are 4 turns long, so even if you were to hit 6 tactical marines per turn you haven't even paid its cost off (and they've been scoring victory points every turn your launcher never achieved a single thing) And most of the time 2d6 scatter means it just goes sideways and hits empty air, buildings, vehicles it cannot even scratch, your own troops.

>>96279466Man if only there was a lower tier officer that gave access to an apex detachment in the same manner as a praetor
>>96279633I'm going to be honest with you chief I built this list and I ran out of points with one apex and one armored spearhead Detachment. In fact, in all my lists so far I tend to have more Detachments available then I actually can use, I'm still taking consuls mainly for their support or combat abilities and not their Detachment
>>96279611S7 threatening AV12? Eh, very low threat rating but it's there; the Rhino will survive it, but the shots could force a status, and enough shots or good angles could actually threaten it.
But most players went from 4 reactions per turn to only 2 or 3, so I am actually confident no one will WASTE a reaction on protecting a measly Rhino from a chip damage gun.
Though I do concede rapier kraks are better suited to attacking bikes or veterans than they are actual tanks, that much is true.

I wonder what is, then. Can't recall anything with less than AV12 that is a land vehicle. Except Tarantulas
So, how are boxnaughts in HH3? Still reduced to glorified lascannon turrets like in HH2, or can be they used like actual dreads now?

>>96279672rapier mortar isnt good against bikers either.
60 points for AP4 trash with dmg1 when it has to get vision on them.
A krak missile is 25 points each, so a 4 shitty-mortar squad costs as much as a 10man krak missile squad. The 10man krak squad is 5.6 wounds on bikers (3 dead bikes), the mortar shatter is 3 wounds (1 dead bike)
They both are support detachment so can't even make any more retarded excuses for it.
>>96279714They're objectively correct. The MoD datasheet is just fucking stupid. Any model that can swap both a primary and pistol for a melee also typically has the added "take twin claws" option. But GW forgot to add it because why wouldn't you opt for the twin if you can take two singles?
>>96279714He's right though
>>96279695I'm going to be honest, ran the numbers and honestly the shatter shell rapiers are up there in efficiency against rhinos. Approximately equal points in lascannons (both HSS and vehicle), autocannons, missile launchers, and melta guns (out of melta range) do less, only melta guns in melta range), laser destroyers, and vindicators to exceed its efficiency, which they *should* considering those are very dedicated heavy AT weapons while the shrapnel shell is just one option on a versatile firing platform

>>96278085The custodes character lineup is quite bizarre and a lil frustrating. A shield captain costs more than a praetor, but is stuck at 4a and a 1 damage weapon so aren't reliably going to beat them, and probably lose to certain legions. A tribune should beat a praetor and is okay vs magi, but also stuck with no fist or even anything high strength. Valdor costs nearly as much as a primarch but will lose to more or less any of them. No option to chuck a jetpack / bike / termie armour on a character.
Thinking about doing a death guard army, then collecting the 40k death guard army to show the exact same army 10k years later, corrupted and moldy and whatnot, which would also work for when DG eventually get their siege of terra rules (in a decade at this rate). Sovlful idea, or retarded and consoomer coded?

why shouldnt I do this? its gonna be just over 300pts
>>96279803Yeah, I thought the Tribune would easily sweep the Magos that's two-thirds his cost until I realised he couldn't take the Solarite Power Gauntlet.
Join the club of no jetpacks though, the Magi have a lot more options but the weapon selection basically boils down to "yep, you're taking a hammer/fist/meltagun" and then adding support gear to taste. The paragon blade is the efficient choice for fighting Eternal Warrior models, but running around with a 170pt murder archmagos that has no terminator escort or assault transport in the hope you can buff yourself to WS8 and then charge a tribune, Abbadon or Siggy is a silly thing to do with him compared to just can-opening and stomping praetors and down with a fist/hammer.

>>96279872I mean, our statements can both be correct. Shatter shells can be both overpriced pieces of shit AND still one of the most efficient rhino killers - that just means most things aren't very efficient at milking rhinos, and rapiers in general scale better than most in points since you can buy say 2 rapiers for a single predator or 5-7 support squad members in points, and they have more shots than the heavier anti tanks and armor bane helps them more than the lighter anti tanks (admittedly, those have more use in trying to debuff harder tanks, but we weren't talking about what can glance a Vindicator, we were talking about what can kill a rhino)
Why the FUCK are IH Iron Fathers in Artificer Armour a Legacy unit?
The IH Praetor model is new. He's recent. The store description still advertises him as an Iron Father.

Personally, I can't wait for the shitty Saturnine models/lore to fall out the spotlight.
We need upscaled versions of the trve heresy armour suit, the one valid for all legions in any period and any role, to become the main focus again: MkIV
>>96280084This implies theyre a particular spotlight currently.
>>96279834It's just for flavor, unless specifically stated in the rules (usually stuff like Terminator armor, Artificer armor) so go buck wild.
>>96280084mark IV is actually the one armour LEAST valid for all legions in any period and in any role dumbfuck. Firstly only the traitors got preference so if loyalists have any it was only by chance that the legion FW got the schematics or they scavenged it. This was unlikely because it is hard to maintain so not great for scavenging, hence why it is virtually extinct by the late heresy. It's also not valid in any role, it was only as good as mark II in terms of durability but was less cumbersome but nothing you'd want in ZM.
>>96279915Because they're the least lame of the 30k legions.
>>96280098GW has spotlighted shiturnine in at least 25 different warhammer community posts. It's absolutely sickening how often they flash the same shitty pictures hoping that'll make them populars.

>>96280166>25 different warhammer community postslol, lmao, THIS is the spotlight you mean?
>>96278967this is definitely true. The loss of murderous strike/insta-death and the loss of rerolls really neutered any amount of variety in melee in the game.
Weapons already just hit 2+ to wound at a drop of a hat in 30k, which without rerolls now there's shit like Gimped hero dreadnought who wounds Word Bearers on 2+ has "Hatred word bearers +1 to wound" that does literally nothing as he already wounds them all on 2+.
So it just becomes, "okay is this weapon AP2 or is it AP3 Breaching5+" not a shred of uniqueness between them.

> Firstly only the traitors got preferenceretarded FW nonsensical lore that is best ignored like other mistakes they made. All legions got MkIV because it was being issued for years and years before the HH or even Ullanor.
They could not even keep their own story straight. There's plenty of loyalists in MkIV, and legions like the UM, BA or TS had their own sources. Horus could not control the forgeworlds supplying other legions. At best he could have it more difficult after he flipped the Fabricator General to his side, but that was too late.

>>96280351The real stretch is seeing that they've removed it on purpose and pretending it doesn't mean anything
>>96280363Ah yes, because GW has never forgotten something before. Everything they do is a carefully calculated ploy to ruin your models and steal your money.
>>96280363>they removed it on purposeand thats stated where exactly?
>>96280059Destroyed population centers do look like one another, true
>>96280282They do, but they can only increase any one characteristic by a max of 2, so a WS5 A4 Archmagos uses that gambit, splits his battlesmith (4) between the two stats and goes to WS7 A6 so he can throw down with Sigismund (and probably narrowly lose, unless he also buffed himself with cybertheurgy to hit WS8 before charging, but still). Malagra Magi are very scary, but I'm not sure how useful being able to pancake Praetors in duels will be when Mech don't really have an unit capable of matching fighty terminators to back the Magos up with.
>>96280084Wait a second, there's a difference MkIV suit that looks like a gorilla with how reinforced the forearms are. So there's an up armored mk4 suit out there...

The lazy thing to do is to copy paste stuff between rulebooks. But GW redid that section on purpose even when it already mentioned Saturnine in HH2. On top of that, the new rapier crewmen and other units feature suits with almost the same design cues.

>>96280379Wait, they can split their battlesmith? :O

>>96280509>terminators fighting anything else than other terminators.Anon I'm sure that's illegal :^)
Hey, Hatred (Astartes) also affects enemy vehicles, right? It'll help their TH and Conversion beamer

If Reaping X activated when the wielder is in base contact with multiple models instead of his unit being overwhelmed, what would change?
Would that fix Deathshroud? Would it have the unforeseen consequence of making Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Custodes and Saturnines invincible? I'm just sad about scythes, is all
>>96280580Oh right. Doesn't affect guns either, only melee. Well I hope it lets them tackle those Saturnine giants then
>>96280587Deathshroud are fine, theyre just not for killing other terminators (shocking I know).
Reaping(X) being reverted to the old system (as opposed to the new system, which is just the old rampage(X) isnt a buff or a nerf as much as it is "finnicky", it moves from a scenaro of "so are you facing big numbers" to "so can you line up your models properly" and generally scales poorly (having to count which specific models are in multiple contact and which ones arent).
>>96280569Four helmet options, only one torso, two optional torso bling ropes, two optional crotch bling bits with choice of two belt buckles, two optional armpit bling bits, choice of two megapads (plain and decorative) for each side, and an optional cape.
>>96280541Scyllax are WS5 and can be easily buffed to WS6 anon, it doesn't matter that they're basically forced to have power Axes the point is to frustrate the retardeds who'll get pissy that their thunder hammers are useless
>>96280541They can, it's basically a one stop boost to combat god stats in everything but weapon damage (since you're giving up Finishng Blow to use the Malagra gambit) and Eternal Warrior (out of luck here).
Scyllax are decent 1W infantry blenders and heavy unit tarpits, yeah. Stacked Malagra archmagos, some scyllax and an upgraded macrocarid to put them in is about 600-700pts depending on whether you take the abeyant or a bunch more scyllax, and while they are Disordered Charging out of it I think it's still a decent counterpunch unit for a lot less than the standard spartanstar.
>>96280660>Stacked Malagra archmagos, some scyllax and an upgraded macrocarid to put them in isYou need a macrotech archmagos for that dont you? The prime benefit is gotten through the apex detachment, which is unlocked by your archmagos.
A malagra archmagos can only take whatever the malagra one is.
>>96280670NTA, but you could special assignment a malagra archmagos in. The actual problem is that currently by ruled as written, the macrotek apex Detachment transports can't transport anything that isn't macrotek because they don't share a faction keyword. Though obviously this'll get FAQd
>>96280631Yeee. An Archimandrite would be able to push them even further beyond because they can cast cybertheurgy twice. WS6 S6 T6 attacking T4 termies :^)
I'm just glad Scyllax have a use, though with D1 I don't fully trust them against 2W targets lol
>>96280670You can have a second Archmagos by shoving him in the Prime Command slot of your primary detachment with Special Assignment, although he does risk Slay The Warlord and you probably need a third magos to get more detachments because the Special Assignment choice doesn't give you any. Theoretically, you could have three Archmagi total with Officer Cadre apex, but that's very much overkill. The main problem with using Scyllax to tarpit is that they'll probably have a couple of their number bonked by thunder hammers and lose combat res, so you need to stop them running away.
>>96280685The keyword thing with Mech is very annoying, a Reductor magos joining Cybernetica should not make them all scaredy-cats, but hopefully that'll get cleared up.
>>96280599Well, it goes from "you used to get some Reaping" to "now you don't (until it's too late)".
Maybe a simple A+2 would've been better, even if it unwittingly unlocked hitting a single target half a dozen times. As they are now, scythes are basically power axes most of the time, so it wouldn't be the end of days
>>96280685Wait, transports can only carry things of their same faction? Then indeed Macrotek transports can't carry anything wtf. That's 3 slots gone to waste
Also, Delegatus are the only model in the game that can unlock an Apex detachment from as allies right?
>>96280707>a Reductor magos joining Cybernetica should not make them all scaredy-catsProbably less scaredy cats and more "you are using the wrong .net framework so everything keeps crashing", version mishmash in the noosphere or whatever. Imagine trying to just modify someones custom skyrim setup, its a fucking night, are.
The keyword soup is supposed to be restrictive (which is a good thing), admech gets a lot of very powerful specialist tools (often more effective 1:1 than their marine counterparts) but they have more difficulties making everything work together. That fits their gimmick of being a bunch of feudal nerfs sitting on broken tech, as opposed to a functional military force (or night lords).
>>96280713>Well, it goes from "you used to get some Reaping" to "now you don't (until it's too late)".Just be outnumbered. 5 deathshroud fighting 20 despoilers or whatever. Its a rule there to help you kill big hordes of chaff (you know, literally reap them)
>>96280707>>96280733Come on anons, clearly it's the magi bickering, shitposting, and sending several exabytes of dolphin porn whenever they ask for a status update
>>96280707...but if you use an Archmagos to take up an Officer Cadre to use a prime benefit to take another Archmagos to take another Apex detachment... wouldn't it have been better to take an Apex with the first Archmagos (instead of taking an Officer Cadre)?
Hey, if you think about it, if Reductor and Malagra are different factions (attaching one to the other causes -1Ld), then you could totally just take an Archmagos as an Allied Detachment, as those are unlimited, no? You just need them to be less than 50% of your points lmao. You can even take an Archmagos directly as ally, as the Allied detachment has a Prime slot for the HQ lol
>>96280749"Arch-Magos, I lodge the rite of profane protestation, upon interface with requisitioned unit ZQ-AE37 , as was my right by the sacred administrator privileges, I was assaulted with orkoid xenodata"
"Lol, lmao"
>>96280737Paint my armour purple, for I vehemently refuse to waste a Retinue slot on fighting Troop rabble. The nerve (gas)!
>>96280759If you use an archmagos to take an officer cadre you have to spend the 2nd archmagos's prime benefit to get special assignment, which means he doesent unlock shit.
>>96280733The downside to this is that it's a royal bitch to actually play and means your listbuilding is absolutely on rails - there are multiple buffs that carefully specify such a narrow combination of faction + unit type that they only work on one unit, so they might as well have just written "Ursarax" or whatever, and then they printed six entire pages of buffs so functionally everyone can be buffed in the same way regardless.
You can even buff allied detachments, since allies are very permissive now, so I can get my Solar Auxilia chumps to leap in front of neutron lasers aimed at my robits and increase the ballistic skill of a Space Marine superheavy but I can't put an Archmagos in my own tank.
>>96280759I was talking entirely in terms of "how many beatstick Archmagi can you have" - one in the usual slot, one in the command slot, one in the Officer Cadre. This is kind of pointless, but two Archmagi for one beatstick and one Apex you want is pretty reasonable, they're surprisingly cheap.
>>96280780>so they might as well have just written "Ursarax" or whateverIts probably to allow additions. If they ever add more lacrymaerta infantry you will be able to buff them for example.
But frankly if admech is restrictive then thats a good thing, being able to pick and mix all their absurd elements would be insane.
Speaking of mechanicum stuff, how viable is the new Forge Lord + some Thallax? He now doesn't have the jump pack name issue....
>>96280798I'm surprised they let us take jump pack and machinator array toguether desu

>>96280798based and brazenclawspilled
>>96280786Almost the grand total of the restrictions are "a random selection of unit combos have -1Ld" and "the Prime Conveyor formation is actually awful for Conveying anything or the unit called a Conveyor, because the only things you can load into them are Scyllax and tank-buffing magi who can't buff tanks while embarked" - the first one there is whatever, but the second one is obviously silly.
>>96280838And about who can get what buffs. But "you cannot load your myrmidons in a buffed macrotech carrier" feels like a pretty significant restriction. You can have cheap armored transports, but you cant have them transport your most efficient melee infantry options.

>>96280889Same, last month I got an intact BaC box for 160โฌ for that reason.
>>96280865Myrmidons are a long way from Mech's best melee infantry, the Scyllax beat them out in points cost as well as every melee capability besides pure wound count, and you can load those. This isn't a big army list and most units don't have many options any longer, dividing it up into this many mutually incompatible buckets makes it incredibly boring to build compared to previous iterations. Admittedly, this is just an extreme variant of what happened to the Marine list as well. Solar Aux is still doing pretty well with their big menu of cohort types and custom reactions, but that's about it. Hell, I can ally all of those to Mechanicum, I'm willing to bet that the Sparatoi reaction that lets you tank anti-tank weaponry on your 4pt infantrymen is going to do a lot more for the survival of mechanicum heavies than Mech using their own transports would.
