He is not sure. Killing an empire's leaders will not change its culture. When the time comes to end the old ways, those who go against him and refuse to see reason will have to be beaten, exiled or slain.

That is, if he ever even does the whole coup idea. Lately my guy is getting more and more into just leaving his homeland and living his best.

Yes, but two girls at our table went to visit italy for a week so we'll miss another one BUT HOPEFULLY, everyones vacations are over so we can go back to regular sessions.
sessionwise Arrianne actually got praise from the party in a long time. She was able to hunt down and kill an invisible imp all by herself by placing a fake soul token then aiming slightly above it once it started moving.

He has a metal spike in his skull that broadcasts his coordinates in spacetime for extradimensional cyber demons to come eat his soul. He can't get rid of the spike because that *is* his soul. Not only will he die, but his soul will still be damned. They've already carved out his brothers' shells, leaving only hollowed husks. There is no running. Only a fight all the way to the bottom of Hell to terminate the Infernus Program so he and his brothers can finally die in peace.
That's his long-term enemy. Current short-term enemy is a bandit gang of human traffickers in the badlands who might be connected to the globohomo chaos machine cult.

I feel the pain, arianne-anon. I GM a game and we've been having some issues now after a good year+ and 25 sessions. Mainly some people needing to drop out, and then getting replacements. I'm currently scrambling to get a person ready, who was recommended by the player who had to leave, but it's been two weekends and no closer to meeting up to talk about the world, making the character, get them used to Foundry etc.

If there's nothing by Wednesday I'm honestly gonna be pretty pissed since we're supposed to play this week, and we've not had a game for a month.

Sounds like the good guys in your setting suffer from a tragic failure to appreciate an ideal male physique.
The helmet is a bit much, though, because it dehumanizes him. Just too on-the-nose in the effect of objectifying him. Better to flex the masculinity of rugged visage and allow the marble-esque hue and texture of his form do the work of invoking the theme of sculpture.

This is closer to what he started out as. Thus, if he realizes he can't fix the system, his move isn't integrating himself again, but rather distancing and watching it burn.

The real-life analogy could be moving to a country no one gives a fuck about.

The Enemies of the Emperor are our Enemies,
Our enemy's General is a hero and a genius,
He has won a thousand wars, and has no equal,

His soldiers it is said fight like demons out of Hell,
Weathering all hardship, and knowing no fear,
Though this is true, it also matters not,

Hida Yoshiro's biggest enemies are, Tsuruchi Tanjiro (maho-tsukai, murderer, all around mega-bitch, currently on the run after being caught with the same poison used to seriously injure a courtier), Susumu Norikagi (Imperial Chancellor, Architect of Regicide, currently out of reach), Akodo Kurayami (brother of the Lion Champion, General to the Usurper, and pretender to the Lion Championship, status unknown but might be imperiled as we gave his brother a shot him in battle). He also has a minor annoyance in the form of Yasuki Zenshi, who he owes for previous favors.

Mind you we play every two weeks, it would hurt more if it was a weekly game. They're currently in the middle of a cult stronghold, think they have killed its leader (they did not, also they did it in such a deranged way and were surprised that he died so easily). One upside is their next goal before leaving is to hit the dungeons, so I can put the new PC in there.

It's been fun though. Started off in a little shithole barony, roused the population to attack the baroness after rescuing kidnap victims from her dungeon. This led into the cult angle, who had arrived in the paladin's home city they'd been away from for a while. Was fun to describe to them the greco-roman skyline, before filled by the Acropolis and Wizard's Tower instead completely dominated by a 200-ft tall gleaming brass spire with a roaring fire at the top.

Unlike your Descent Into Avernus game, they've not hit the planar shenanigans yet. That doesn't happen until Level 10ish.

That statement by Thors is a good one, but as a mostly perspective thing. You may still have to assassinate the evil emperor, but the whole point of the statement is that nobody on this earth is some kind of demon you have to devote yourself to destroying. Even people who seem to hate you arrived at their conclusion for reasons that would likely not be far off from yours or anyone else's reasoning. That evil emperor is just a mundane evil man who has arrived to where he is in a way similar to how you would. You may still have to assassinate him for the greater good, and he may never repent or change his ways or anything that may let you let him live, but that's just how things turned out.

Hostilities and violence may happen anyway, but that's because it's a regrettable situation that shouldn't have gotten so bad.

To finally run a game that goes to Level 20.

Paladin. Human. Blonde haired, blue eyed. Noble, from a city that clings to its Greco-Roman styled history. She learned of the disappearances while training in the more distant city the barony is a suzerainty of. Righteous streak when she sees innocents harmed, has had her ideals tested somewhat already.

Monk. Human, fiery ginger. From a river-gypsy people, that had gone to the same city the Paladin had to attend the school there, where she found an interest in the occult. Has a water-"be like water" fighting style. Some of her own kin had gone missing. Hired the Rogue. The player is a decent note taker.

Rogue. Elven Genasi, mix of fire&water. Grew up poor in the same aforementioned city, and led a life of thievery. Got an assassin killed during an attempted heist, and has been shanghaied into the assassin guild and given a task of killing the butler of the baroness' house or else be killed himself. Taking the job from the Monk was a cover.

Barbarian. Serpentfolk, and his particular breed has legs. Self-exiled from his homeland, escaping the servitude of his people but feeling a conflicting shame at running from his peoples caste system. Fears his fate in the wheel of reincarnation that his people believe in. Heavily cloaked at all times and wears his wealth as bangles, necklaces and other jewelry. Found his way to this land from across the sea by smuggling and dealing with thieves and pirates.

Druid. Gnome, from a swampland forest near the city mentioned previously. Has an expectation of his name preceding itself, sometimes it does but not in a good way. A very nontraditional druid, and is more akin to steve irwin. Puts no faith in gods, mostly believing in nature itself.

Wizard. Half-elf. The oldest among the party, his power and station was diminished after a run-in with the cult that he has no recollection of. A wandering wizard, focusing more on practical spells and survival. Kind, very gandalfy.

Her immediate enemy would be the guild leader she's trying to usurp and replace. The rest of her enemies would be existing power structures that don't align with her ideas. She's liable to try and completely take over the region she's in and try to have it become independent from the greater kingdom.

>What are level are you at now? How tedious can it get waiting for turn?

They're Level 5, it's not too bad. I'm the GM if it hadn't been obvious before. We're playing Pathfinder 2e, I'd say big combats are usually 3-4 rounds. I've trained them pretty good to be quick about their turns though. Not in a mean way, just emphasizing. "What are you doing?"

New member of the party now to replace the rogue we're losing. Rogue with Bard dedication, Tiefling but I like old school types so she rolled for looks. Turned out a really cool combo of things, wouldn't know she's a tiefling at a glance.

This is also where I correct myself, the Paladin is Human but also an Aasimar. So, get to have Aasimar vs Tiefling shenanigans.

Oh and to be on topic. My players enemies are definitely the cult they're fighting against. Fun stuff, they show up in cities suddenly. A massive brass spire appears not long later. They spread an unfathomable amount of coin around, especially in the ghettos. Many in the priesthoods begin converting, because the prayers to this new god are actually coming true.

But the characters know the truth. They're kidnapping people from the countryside for rituals.

I'm not familiar with pf2e but how bloated can it get at later levels?
Anonymous No.96334330 >>96343200

I mean high level pf2e at least remains a functioning game unlike 5e.

There's so mechanics-immersion dissonance around how to keep the challenge up and to keep enemy variety around a lot of the high level adventure paths often have things like random level 14+ guards or thugs.

As for mechanics bloat it's not that bad. You're drip fed stuff as you level for the most part so by the time you have a ton of stuff you're pretty good at using the rest of your kit.

Item bloat generally doesn't cause half the headaches it causes in 5e because your weaker level items rapidly become useless and there's very few without concretely defined powers/abilities.

I'm the actual person you asked. It gets retarded. "Drip fed" yet every even level you're starting down the barrel of an absurd number of options. And unless you have a group actually into that shit, they'll forget they have any of it half the time.

Also the "your magic items become useless" thing the other guy brought up is such utter dogshit. One of many reasons I'm ditching the game. It expects the players to dump their gold on magic items, and without using a variant rule they ALSO have to dump cash on letting their to-hit, armor and save scores advance properly.

Great game for a tactical skirmish, shit RPG.

I also forgot. Trap options, everywhere. Some classes are even trap options unless you 100% understand what you're getting into. (Don't pick Alchemist if you want to actually feel like a mad scientist or something, you're the pre-combat vending machine). But there's so many shitty feats, and it's even worse for some classes or skill proficiencies.

I ran an OSR one-shit when we had a lot of people missing once, and it was like I experienced a full detox. Not my usual thing, but it made me realize PF2e was/is overhyped.

I think this is more of a job for DM

My group has that problem with 3.5e but I'd say that's usually DMs fault for not forcing/rewarding us when we try to do things differently.
>and without using a variant rule they ALSO have to dump cash on letting their to-hit, armor and save scores advance properly.
Wouldn't that force players to spend gold? Gold hoarding is a popular nuisance whenever I ran a game and it's very difficult to force players to spend it.

welp, that doesn't sound fun. Seems like they took the worst parts of 5e and forced it onto pathfinder

In L5R maho-tsukai are users of blood magic that taps into the power of the Realm of Evil. In addition to some very nasty effects it slowly taints the user with evil, resulting mutation and insanity. Unless she's got patsies set up to take to take the Taint for her she'll likely go totally insane.

And in an update, the results of the battle are in, the True Lion Champion, Akodo Ujisada, did get through the gap we made for him and he killed the pretender in single combat. Scratch one enemy from our list.

Honestly, more like they took the worst parts of Pathfinder and tried to shove a half-baked D&D4e into it.

I also forgot to mention that with the right class choice, the party could have infinite out of combat healing. Didn't expect one player to be such a cunt so it caught me off guard, but there's something called Focus Spells and for some reason Goodberry and Lay on Hands are considered that type. Takes only 10 minutes to regain a point to cast it again. The aforementioned being caught off guard is I should've had the party get jumped by enemies rather than sit on their asses for an hour.
