Let's say I have the best fantasy related ideas in the world and can create a setting incredibly interesting to a lot of people who like fantasy
But I have no other skills and am not good with words either; and as we know, in the fast-paced modern day internet, people like to consume slop-settings that are adorned with illustrations (many such cases over the last few years, such as the gay-ass trench crusade with its overdesigned s0yg0y aesthetics and that "dark soulsy" shit faux-rpg that got popular on youtube some time ago, but besides them I can't name anything else simply because I don't remember things that I don't like, these two are an exception only because of how often I came across spam about them)
What is the "quickest" way one can learn or do something with this in order to enable any kind of monteray gain?
This is not a question coming from greed but rather from desperation of someone who is living a purposeless monotonous life but is also for years barraged nearly 24/7 by ideas that have mostly nothing to do with real world applications

For illustrations, try to find the image generator power-users to learn sketching out starting points and fiddling with their internals so you can get usable results nearly immediately but still refine towards more normal digital art.

In what context? Your setting is just window dressing until it's actually used with a product. Do you want to create a war game? A board game? A metal album? A DND module? A book?

Honestly, just kill yourself.
If this was really that important to you you would have done what every other creative person has done before, and after you, and just started - irregardless of the results, skill level, nothing would have stopped you. You've already written a paragraph on why you don't want to start; any advice would be wasted on you. People like you will NEVER amount to anything.

Then you cant "create" the setting, can you? Imagining something and communicating your mental image to others are two different things. There are no quick and easy, third party solutions that will create for you. Not in any meaningful way.

If you want to learn to do art, go check the /ic/ resources. If you put your back in it, you can learn to draw acceptably within 6 months.
Honestly though, you don't need a lot of art for a setting book, especially when you seemingly don't have a setting as much as series of vague ideas that are loosely connected? Just write your setting, maybe spring for a nice cover art, and then you can re-release with greater art later.

Settings are pretty crap, anon. You can't make any money writing settings.

The only way anyone wants a setting is if you've got a hella-interesting system that relies on it, or interesting adventures that introduce it. So learn to write adventures. Then write good adventures for your setting. Then release a setting after the interest exists in it. By itself? No one is ever, and I mean EVER, going to want to read your setting.

Also let go the bitterness. That kinda attitude turns people off in seconds. Happiness is contagious, and bitterness and anger are annoying and icky.

Maybe consider a life coach. Or, you know, read a book. Cause ideas are a dime a dozen, but having the will to actually do anything with those ideas needs actual motivation And if you don't even have the motivation to make a setting for the fun of it, much less to actually apply to an actual thing like a tabletop game or a book or even a web story, then trying to tell you how to "fast-track" that is is rather pointless.
Anonymous No.96315268 [Report]

You're asking for a get-rich-quick scheme with an untested IP. Your setting isn't going to attract people by itself. It's just an idea until it's actually tied to a tangible product. If you want a tangible product, then you have to put in work.

I can't tell you how to make that product because I don't know your skillset and from the way you speak, it sounds like you lack any drive to actually do anything. What exactly do you want from me? To tell you your setting is great? That people would pay you to use it in their own products? My impression is that you're an ideas guy who likes the idea of having a profitable IP, but lacks the drive or conviction to make it happen.

...I repeat:
>so you can get usable results nearly immediately
You specifically mentioned that you understand people like to consume slop-settings adorned with illustrations as context to asking what the quickest way to get to a monetizable point is. There are already people making sales with products using low-effort AIslop as the functional equivalent of free-use clip-art.

Why is directing to the higher-brow image generator users who's practices actually scale an irrelevant response? Because if you have the slightest technical competence, it should take under an hour of effort to find an appropriate model and figure out its inputs to start generating images.

>am not good with words
You're fucked. Cool settings need stuff going on in them to be worth bothering with. This is why people tend to scrape stories they like for setting details rather than fawn over settings with characters and plots they don't care about. Lacking words to describe your amazing setting is also a death knell, but it's not the most serious issue.

>desperation of someone who is living a purposeless monotonous life
>for years barraged nearly 24/7 by ideas
Surprisingly common.

The trick here is that ideas by themselves aren't very useful; they need copious effort to forge into coherent art. This means you need discipline and resolve to do tedious work on a single idea reliably over long periods of time. You have too much creativity as is, and it's already shown you that endlessly daydreaming isn't very productive. Building good habits and working hard are unglamorous and don't feel good in the moment, but what's easy and fun is often not what's prudent.

Start by picking a project. A small one, something that's manageable but cool. It can be anything- writing a novel, programming a video game, drawing a comic. You can even pick something unrelated to art, since the point is to build skills.

Then start blocking out time to work on that project. Doesn't have to start out as a lot, 20 minutes a day might be plenty, if 5 is all you can manage then do 5. You're building a habit, so regularity is more important than raw man-hours or productivity within that time. The trick is that you absolutely cannot do anything else. If you let yourself get nervous and get some quick internet to settle your nerves, you'll just act like you currently do.

If you can convince yourself to stick with this, you'll slowly build skills, both directly artistic and more general life ability.

If you're reading this and wondering when the bullshit stops and you can do stuff for real, there's good news and bad news. The bad news is that this is more or less how most big things get made- day by day, bit by bit, and it's tedious the whole way through.

The good news is that it gets easier and bigger over time. It's kinda like how novices and masters at a given video game tend to push more or less the same buttons, but the masters do so much more fluidly and precisely.

This is an ego response, and it will poison everything you do. Ego is the sensation that your worth as a person is based on your external results or reputation among others, and the associated mental gymnastics that goes into trying to feed or protect that.

In particular, it is very hard to take risks or work hard with a big ego, because it'll delay the former and scream that you're not moving fast enough on the latter. A lot of artists have huge egos and do good work anyway, but they're extremely prone to burnout and stagnation. Many wannabes never make it that far.

To erode down your ego, pay attention to when it flares up. Avoid rationalizing things to yourself, be honest and inquisitive about how you feel and why you think that is.

monstermonger here

I am looking for desperate people like me all the time.

Writers are usually great but go insane after a year or two. Artists are usually flakes and quickly run away to do stuff for b/pussy. Codedudes are usually overworked and delusional about the time they can invest in a project. Editors and layout people are expensive.

I wrote some shit and got paid doing so, can help with the wordy word-words aspect a bit.

I need to get paid at some point though, so be ready to take this seriously or I will stop replying to your messages and feel bad about it all.

>What is the "quickest" way one can learn or do something with this in order to enable any kind of monteray gain?

You learn something by doing it regularly. If you enjoy worldbuilding it wont be a problem. Making money from it takes longer. Start an instagram account where you post images and snippets of text from your setting, and add a bunch of tags that relate to fantasy, worldbuilding, roleplaying games, just so your posts pop up in peoples feeds.

Build your world up one image at a time, one text at a time, and if it's any good comments and subscribers will start trickling in even when you are passive. When you have enough material you can add a patreon link in your description and see what happens. Or start submitting it to whatever creative forums you can find.
>How long? Trench crusade was concieved by two veterans of the gaming industry in 2016 and took until 2023 before they released any rules and minis
>Also don't be bitter about other peoples success. Just focus on your own thing for your sake

As for skills there are no shortcuts. Just regular practice. Want to learn how to illustrate? Buy a sketchbook or drawing pad and doodle whenever something pops into your head. Find artists who inspire you and try to mimic the basic elements of what they are doing. Want to learn how to write? Go back to a book you really liked, look at how they describe the world, what kind of details they put in their text and try to write similar things on your own setting.

It doesn't have to be pure gold from the beginning to help your ideas mature. Just do it for fun and before you know it you are sitting with a drawing you made that you can't take your eyes off of, something that came out exactly as you wanted it to. How long? A couple of months, depending on what you consider worthy of showing people. Have you ever said "man, how is summer over already"? That's how long. You just need to fill your days with something productive.

Over a sixth having genuine mental retardation indicates vastly more than one-sixth not being fine. Lmao no, you got nothing. Your thoughts are a scattered mess of the blandest shittiest most unmotivating and uninspiring garbage possible. There's a reason you don't bother putting in any effort: You know everything you've ever conceived sucks.

It's under 3% btw, not one sixth. You're so worthless you can't even do basic math.

>You however are teenager scum who is desperately trying to prove someone wrong. That's all there is to you. I'm guessing you are traumatized from being "categorized" at some point in your life
I'm genuinely trying to get through to you. You've got the same "psuedo-autism" that's currently being defined in the literature. It's something that a whole lot of young men have these days. It's what's leading to such rapid declines in employment and education among young, white men. It does worry and sadden me. I know you can't, right now. Your defenses are up. You don't have anything you do to feel proud of, so all your sense of personal worth is connected to your identity. So you're deeply invested in the angry screeds you're typing, here. When you've calmed down, try reflecting. Try empathizing with others. Realize you're roughly the same as everyone else. Realize you're not special, unless you do something special. Then go try to do something good, or at least well.

...The "Standard Deviation" is generally considered 15 points, with two-thirds of the population within one from 100. This leaves one-third between the rest of the range, divide in two and one-sixth "should" be more than one standard deviation below the defined average of 100. "Mental retardation" has long left formal medical use with the colloquialism including specific cognitive failures like the breakfast question and autism.

Do I have to get out the screencaps and Paint to show how I came to this conclusion and how I'm using the terms?

https://www.hrw.org/reports/2001/ustat/ustat0301-01.htm
"The vast majority of people in the United States have I.Q.s between 80 and 120, with an I.Q. of 100 considered average. To be diagnosed as having mental retardation, a person must have an I.Q. below 70-75, i.e. significantly below average. If a person scores below 70 on a properly administered and scored I.Q. test, he or she is in the bottom 2 percent of the American population10 and meets the first condition necessary to be defined as having mental retardation."

You're in that bottom 2 percent, don't (you) me faggot.

It is immensely bullshit to assert a definition that renders the claim invalid by moving the statistical goalpoast AFTER the meaning the argument is actually using is clarified. Your "disproof" is categorically invalid because it's actually a semantic argument.

You're fucked. The whole point of any rulebook or setting guide is to inspire people. Writing and art exist to create a tone and mood. Without that, the setting is going to be boring and/or forgotten because GMs need a setting that inspires them to make stuff up on the fly.
If you want to convey ideas for worldbuilding and such, you're better off writing a blog.

But if you're actually serious, you should start learning to write. Read books on the topic, and then start writing. Short stories, novels, even wiki entries or incomplete chapters. What matters most is that you keep trying new things and keep practicing.
