Also my point originally was for the anon who wants special melee squads for guard who'd be their MEQ, realistically speaking that only leaves kasrkin (or scions) as the only option for GW.
They won't just randomly include into the guard, especially after they have gone and deleted them from the guard.
At best you will find those in the Imperial Agents codex someday (if we ever get an Imperial Agents update), but seeing that codex is quite terrible, to put it mildly. So if I was you, I'd temper my expectations.

I guess it depends on your goals, but typically I've come to think that when you are painting game pieces for 40k, you are viewing them from quite far away and realistic vehicle paint schemes tend to lose all their definition and just look like blobs.

I think if you were to do the Z, it would make sense to get a stencil and airbrush it on, then paint streaks to make it look more like soldiers sprayed it on with rattlecans. Then the effect would look so realistic that maybe it would sell the rest of the scheme as extra realistic.

Black marble recipe:
Do NOT glue the mini on the base. I will tell why.
Paint the base with abadon black (its a more "shiny" black than normal base black)
Use balthasar gold or any gold paint desu and try to go for straight staggered line.
For the shine, this is the hard part. With a fat brush, just EVENLY glop 'ardcoat on the base. Do not spread it, just glop the ardcoat until they homogenise. Leave on a FLAT surface. They will dry overnight, then you want to glue your mini on the dried base with a tiiiny drop of super glue. Too much superglue and it will heat up the ardcoat and fuck it up aroind the feet.
Its both an eqsy and long process but I like it. Makes it look like they're unbased until you get a closer look.
This is why I hate tactical rocks with a passion because you cant do this anymore.

So did World Eaters and Dark Eldar even though both of them were about a 46% win rate at the time. But they beat him at a tournament so they had to be taken down a peg. That same guy makes sure that Necrons never get nerfed too hard when they are good and are always at least tournament viable. I've hooked my own models with my sweater sleeves more than a few times reaching to the middle of the table. It's not hard to accidentally bump something or have a loose thread hook a sword or detail even with a base. Techpriests are awesome, and some of the 40kist models to ever exist, but their actual role in the army is mostly just to give their squad a keyword. Enginseer is the only tech priest that can actually heal vehicles, and the datasmith is basically a 35-point tax for kastelins. For every duplicate of a unit taken, the subsequent selections of that unit should cost progressively more points. For example, a 100 point unit could cost 125 for the second and 150 for the third. Battleline units could be exempt, or only start charging the spam tax once you hit 4 of them.

My guys are a regiment of tempestus scions permanently attached to the Ordo Prefectus. They're dispatched to various Sol Blades to instill order and discipline in any of the mortal forces arrayed. They deploy to perform daring shock assaults to inspire the other men, desperate hold outs to keep men from fleeing, and die standing to instill order. Originally wanted to do a bunch of salamander succesors fighting as one unit. In the fluff mydudes were owed a favour from the Black Dragons so when their Librarius got fucking bodied the BD’s sent a small cadre to help. A librarian, an LT, and a couple squads of dudes to keep an eye on things. The Libby was due to go back home now that the chapter has mostly rebuilt but the Great Rift spoiled those plans.

There's just something super fun in being able to decimate an entire unit of guardsman with a single model, getting 12 attacks, rerolling 1s, sustained hits 2 and anti-infantry 2. You can close your eyes and imagine her as some kind of anime villain in that moment.

I used to tank shock armies in 4th edition to cut their armies in half and use my 50-ish marines to beat one half. Using two tank hunting predators.

I then tried death star with a nurgle unit of terminators and nurgle bikes. It was fun.

the way it works now is charging with tanks and constantly force armies weak to returning fire after fleeing a combat to move back little by little

Finished throwing together some Krieg Grenadiers using parts from TinyLegend. I can see how these get so much praise, aside from my own fuckups in not reading the directions properly everything fit together smoothly. Only complaint I have was trying to figure out which cable goes with which set of arms was kind of annoying.

I'm repurposing them as Kasrkin obviously, but since I ordered the 10 pack bundle for the base Grenadier stuff alongside the special weapon bits I still have a bunch of extra Hotshot Lasguns left over so I might as well make a second squad.
