Why is Splash Portal in the deck? You don't have many creatures you want to blink.

The deck just kinda spins its wheels until you ping people to death. Try going in a route that doesn't involve you casting just draw spells for the sake of drawing. Your commander is giving out cards, lean into it. Your commander copies spells for free, lean into spell copy effects like Twinning Staff.

I got several games in yesterday and it did pretty well, I felt like I never had an issue with land so much as I did getting attacks through against other wide boards or decks that popped off faster than me.

I've been goldfishing to 40 with this deck, and while I can occasionally hit 40 on turn 5, I began to wonder what the ultimate upper limit was.

So, assembling a perfect hand, I've been trying to hit 40 by turn 3, and I can't. Turn 4 is easy enough, especially with a turn 1 sol ring, but turn 3 seems to be beyond this deck, even under perfect circumstances.

The frustrating part is that I've gotten to 39, but just can't get to 40.
So, consider this a puzzle. Here's the deck, and see if you can hit 39 by turn 3, or, even better, see if you can surpass me and actually get to 40+.
The rules are pretty simple. You can assemble any opening hand you want, and draw any cards you want after that at a rate of 1 per turn. All other magic rules apply (1 land drop per turn, etc.).

I want to make the most obnoxious bracket 3 deck possible. Should I go Grand Arbiter Augustin IV and not let anybody play anything or have fun or do I make Kefka the Discard Clown?

Goldfishing in general is mostly just a form of solitaire. It's less about seeing how well the deck will do in a real match and more of just a way to kill some time while familiarizing yourself with interactions.

For example, I didn't really appreciate how many interesting avenues Yuffie opens up, even without any opponent's artifacts on the field The steal is great, but the free equip, potentially off of a Ninjutsu, is also fantastic.

Your entire thing is that you can "transmute" any aura for any equal or lower MV so card quantity that you draw matters a lot less. So yes it fundamentally changes the concept of draw power ratios.
That said, LP is basically a massive draw spell once you get to any 4+ MV auras, of which you play 6 others of, because you can then grab Sage's reverie and that draws you a ton cards by that point, but you also have plenty of cards that tutor for those 4+ MV auras which act as effective copies too.
Pearl ear and Sram are some draw power.
Slumbering keepguard reads scry 2 when you cast auras with LP around which helps you dig to any of those 4+ MV cards.
I'm not saying the goal of the deck is to get to those 4+ MV auras but if you take at least one or an avenue to one in your opening hand it's a guarantee that you refill your hand later in the game.

Most to be said is above. But they're the main way you're winning so IMO they should represent about a 1/4 of the deck. I could go down to maybe 1/5 for some other pillowfort cards or creature token generators for bodies to avoid sac removal or to put auras on.

Most of the creatures and the planeswalker can go off on their own to present lethal threats or act as a wall to defend you until you find a way to another. Late game if Nomad mythmaker, Ironclad slayer, or Heliod's pilgrim gets Mantle of the ancients it puts people on gotta have it mode. I took more of a quality over quantity approach.

You're fine playing boardwipes more than spot removal because you're either all or nothing. You have some removal and semi removal in the form of auras that proc LP and get you value too.
The deck has 13 removal options + 2 counterspells which is a bit heavy handed but I see it as it using the slots draw power would be in when I don't really need them.

Does anyone else have a pet card? As in, a card you know is not *that* good yet you just can't help but including it in every deck you make in its colours? If so, which one and why?
Mine is picrel because it helped me go 4-0 with the Temur precon the night I bought it and has since become a bit of a meme at my LGS about how I will find a way to swing for lethal even against 3 or 4 opponents whenever I drop it, even going so far as using 2 counterspells to make sure it resolves.
Also Deathrite Shaman but that one is genuinely busted.

I don't really understand why this is a 50 cent card. It's unblockable in colors that don't really get unblockable, and more importantly it's targeted kill on a stick. Sure, it can't block, but you don't really need to block when you can kill most problems.

But I don't really see how it wins besides people not enjoying the game and leaving because they won't waste their time. I wouldn't label that as a win though. Kudro cares about cards in graveyards. I found in early builds I struggled to hit valuable targets in yards with human etbs, so I run some mill to get more targets.

One of my favorite parts is the non-bo with Heartless Summoning and Bastion of Remembrance. With those out, hit any of create x 1/1 humans and chunk people off of death triggers.

Are there spell slinger style decks that operate entirely off of lands or are the green decks mostly creature decks also?
I'm trying to refine my ponza list to be more of a RG control list.
The way I see it, running effective artifact removal can act like the speed bump i'm looking for while funneling decks that are less effected (green decks) likely into creature decks which can be controlled via red burn, I'm thinking pyrohemia will be pretty premium. Leaving me enough time to get xenagod out and start swinging.
I threw a Ruric Thar in my list but im not super sure how well that will control non-creature decks, I'm mostly thinking they will be setback by artifact hate.

yes, I know that's one of it's win conditions and likely only one aside from clearing the board for fat +1/+1'ed otters to swing in for big chunks. My first game, I had veyran on the field with Valley floodcaller and like 7 otters. I saw the mizzium mortars in my hand, I could have copied it 3 times for 12 damage to everything, triggering my prowess and valley floodcaller pumps to all my otters, and tiggering it all AGAIN cause of Veyran which brings me to my next point

Honestly, at first I figured I wasn't going to like her.
