Honestly, I love drawfags because they are one of the few ways we can see things in WoD that no one else is making art for.
Like, take that Fomori, Nephandi Wednesday looking family portrait. Not even in my wildest dreams I can see Paradox greenlitting it, especially with their bland ass W5.

Honestly, Set and Setites are some of my favorite parts of the setting.

Set actually did things. Is part of the world unlike most other Antes. Like, outside of Transylvania Chronicles, what did Abby do since the First City? By all intents and purposes, he just sat in Antartics or at the depths of the ocean, brooding outside of creating some monsters.

I think it's managing a decent balance personally, it's not doing things like WoD and there is certainly more stuff I want to know about, but for a baseline street level game I think all the options are fairly distinct and the big groups are well explained. Although, granted, the revisions have helped a good bit there.

What's the best way to do a JRPG-like thing but not go full Exalted? Is it just Mage but force the party into a Paradigm that's Wuxia-lite? I was thinking Sorcerer since it would focus more on them basically buffing and preparing spells ahead of time for fights and not run the same "It's True Magic I ain't gotta explain shit" deal with Mage, but that just feels like it would be far too limited and end up more like something akin to Witcher where you're just a guy+ instead of being definitely a step above. I'm just not sure how to, mmm, curate Mage the best.

I’m not quite clever enough to create a Wuxia paradigm limited enough to ape something like chrono trigger without gutting the parts of Mage that make Mage fun I fear, which is why I hesitate. I definitely want to hit the high levels of Mage power, but, very slowly. And base game isn’t really conducive to that unless I put guardrails on everything which at that point why play something as open ended as tabletop

World of Darkness for all the discussions about power levels and which splat is the best doesn't actually do well following the traditional zero to hero progression. You're kinda in the position to quickly gain a lot of power or not.

The system for KotE is so bizarrely fixated on limiting the utility of Martial Arts* that it can't really qualify. Of those that show up in the WoD, only what the Shih practice, Kailindo, and Do really manage to get into anything more than the lowest power levels of the genre. To get higher, you'd need to relax a lot, use WoD: Combat, and adapt a lot of Street Fighter material.

* Actually, I know why in context, but it doesn't make it stop being intensely stupid. The fears about game balance and combat in the 90s were a hell of a drug.

It's playable, but it's also kind of shit. The souls states, chi arts and demon arts systems are unnecessarily complex, especially for a book that's goal was to tone down the complexity of the original KotE.
It also nerfs everything across the board in a way that makes it fit better with WoD5 than a 20th edition supplement. Just like wraith 20 or sorcerer 20, playing this in a mixed game is a great way to get curb-stomped by neonate vampires.

How much would you weaken a recently awakened methuselah? -1/2 dots to all attributes and disciplines?
Urshulgi seems less affected, how much weaker were Helena and Mictlan?
Also how long should it take for the methuselah to recover their original values?

Me personally? I wouldn't. Just give them a worryingly low blood pool and perhaps reduced willpower. Nobody else "weakens" after a long torpor to my knowledge, it just feels to me like an excuse for wank "oh-ho-ho, look how powerful I am even though I have only just awoken! Better gank me now before I become even more strong and big!"

If you really want to I'd say -2 to their stuff and reduce penalties by one every week or lunar month depending on what timescale you have planned. Maybe let them spend willpower to have full stats for a scene.

20th edition is just a collector's special edition with some system fixes. You can use the previous editions without an issue.

I always find this funny because one of the best TTRPGs based on my country were made by foreigners who loved my culture and researched a lot and consulting with people from my country who studied our own culture. Just because you were born into a culture, does not mean you know and understand everything about it. If someone paid me to do a TTRPG based in my country, I would have to study just as much as the foreigners who created those games. The only advantage I have is communication and how to cross a street during red light.

The original kickstarter was for the core rule book, this one is for a Players Guide supplement. So it's a player-facing book with more abilities, merits, splat options, lore, and stuff of that nature. WoD has had version of these in every edition and they're common in RPGs in general.

All keui jin innately have access to extra actions and aggrivated damage, so you can make combat monsters with them very easily.
The problem is that ALL their power are current dot x8 in XP and they can't blood-buff(chi-buff?) without Disciplines.

I'd just suggest you just watch videos about stuff you're knowledgeable to figure out if his accurate or not. For the most part he just seems to get an overview of the splat without going into great depth about what makes them work. It's good enough if you don't plan to actual read the books. Nothing i've seen him mention i'd called to be grossly inaccurate. Just keep his bias in mind when listening to him.

Blame the late revised metaplot. Also, idk about anyone else's table but I go full schizo with it. I keep a good deal of Noddism but push the timeline back like a motherfucker and go with a more "the biblical cain story is based on a game of telephone about what actually happened at the dawn of mankind." interpretation of the "first" vampire. First Kindred would be more accurate. I've only ever shown "glimpses" of the pre-flood world and Noddism is more a kernel of truth than the full truth.

How many Rasputins did the oWoD have? I started working on a CtL chronicle in 1991/92 Moscow (currently called "Winds of Changeling") and was wondering if I should include one that hid his heart in a Faberge Egg (Koshchei style).
There were at least one Malkavion, Nosferatu and Setite, as well as a Puppetteer claiming to be responsible for the previous ones.

Is V5 a good edition mechanically? Do the simplified mechanics work well for combat orientated campaigns or should I seek a different system? Would Hunter 5 or Werewolf 5 better suit my purposes?

I ask because I always hear people complaining about the V5 lore but never talking about the mechanics.
