Im trying to create an izzet commander damage deck. I like melek for copying pump spells but he's pretty weak and needs mana/library manipulation to pop off. I think veyran might be more reliable, how many spells copying effects would I need? I'm thinking cards like assault strobe, twinferno, balduvian rage, and harmonic prodigy are the type of things that can get me there. Right now it's kind of a ping you/make tokens strategy just for me to learn the color combo better.

I tend to disassemble/reassemble decks as time goes on, even if I like the deck a lot. I've exclusively played commander since idk 2010? So I've always made a point of owning just one of a card.

One of the reasons I keep the photos is so that I can reassemble the deck when I feel like playing it again though. There's a few low-powered decks I keep together that don't really compete for slots, but this isn't one of them.

I have an Atraxa Infect deck because I wanted to play infect, and genuinely I don't think it's too powerful at all. You end up painting the biggest target on your back and fall off hard in the mid-game because you have to fill your deck up with shit like 3 mana 2/2 flyers which is the kind of thing that can't compete with typical midrange EDH value decks. Very often I've taken someone out early but converting that to a win is very hard. Also fully going in on a late game Ichor rats proliferate plan doesn't work either because spending resources to proliferate constantly doesn't do anything for your board state or tempo and leaves you vulnerable to getting killed which people want to do anyway. its hard out here for us aggro chads.

TL;DR Infect seems a lot scarier than it actually is, and if you went by winrates im sure the average infect deck wouldnt be out of place at your typical mid power table.

Yep, I have a Skrelv monowhite infect with all the cheap double strike creatures, and a personal rule that I can only win by proliferating every remaining player from 9 to 10 poison counters at the same time. Same problem: it's great against lower power decks but man does it fall behind fast

People are afraid of Atraxa because content creators tell them to be. In reality it's one of the fairest, durdliest commanders in existence. And if you have spot removal before end step she's a literal 4 mana do-nothing.

So I posted this deck yesterday and I was pretty pleased with it but the more I look at it, the more I know it needs a change.
The original gimmick was that it was a spiritual successor to a duels of the planeswalker deck and it still does that portion quite well, rely on basic lands, green ramp and multicolored creatures to win.
At some point before brackets, I added non-basic land hate and that became the aspect I enjoyed the most.
I still think the idea of a budget 5c land base playing ruination is funny.
That being said, I can't help but feel like this deck has outgrown it's usefulness but I am having a hard time figuring out what to do about that. I'd love to keep playing a deck that plays a bunch of charms but I think the wincon package needs to change.
Even back in 2016 when I put the deck together, rite of repping a broodmate dragon was cute but not a good wincon and its only gotten worse from there.
Any suggestions?
Maybe I revert to an older more charm based build and lean into domain more?

You get the first chance to respond after you put something on the stack, this is "priority". "Holding priority" means taking that chance. "Passing priority" means doing nothing with that chance and asking for responses before resolving the spell. If they respond, you get another chance to act after that.

Honestly it seems to primarily be an issue with early draw and ramp. Unless I am missing things, white doesn't have much draw that'll hit before turn 3. And much of it is conditioned on something. So even with plenty of draw, it starts too late to really solve the issue. Ramp is a similar issue.

Obviously there's crucible, but nothing you're running searches it. Ramunap works with GSZ and imperial recruiter, yeah. Technically so does perennial behemoth, but he's 5 mana, the unearth is a little compelling though.
You could replace sol ring with arboreal grazer or elvish pioneer, if you want to replace a 1drop with a 1 drop. You could also do broken bond, or heck even Explore. Aside from that, you're running nature's lore and three visits but not farseek.

My Russian steppe wife made me win 4 out of 7 games against my friends playing nasty-ass shit like Tifa, Yuriko, Giada and Jetmir earlier tonight. I've spent about 60~ish freedom coins upgrading the precon while trying to keep it in-theme to dragons as much as possible.
The idea is to cast 6+ power shit as often as you can to burn your opponents repeatedly and whenever possible grant her a large amount of +1/+1s and trample so she can burn for a ton then finish the job via combat damage. You need to be aggresive in your plays and ALWAYS have a way to ramp in your opening hand, mulligan to 5 cards if you must.
Boardwipes of choice are damage-based so she and the dragons can survive them more often than not and dragons snowball insanely quickly if left unchecked so even if she gets targeted repeatedly that just means your opponents get ran over by a dozen flying, double striking, trampling creatures. There's a couple extra cards in there because I keep flip-flopping about what to cut. Also the enchantments are your best friends if you can pop them in early and they survive even a couple of turns, and I've talked about picrel before but it's won me more games than I can remember and it's always hilarious to watch your opponents deliberate on how they want to die.

Turn 1 Smothering Tithe into a turn 2 wheel. Amass control of the game accordingly with 21 mana on turn 2. Play as many top EDHrec cards as possible.

I pulled her in the sample pack thing with one of the other decks and built her as a pile of craws and dreadmaws using random draft chaff I had laying around. I don't have a single dragon in the deck, which tends to catch people off guard since she was in a dragon tribal precon. She's a lot of fun, feels like she has a lot of voltron style qualities while also wanting to go wide. Very fragile lynchpin though, so you're going to want to pack a lot of protection so she doesn't die as soon as she's about to do something. She very quickly becomes a removal magnet, but starts off pretty non-threatening looking, so people tend to remove her once you've already invested some time into building her up but before she's able to start blasting everyone for a lot of damage.

So I pulled an Anti-Venom at a prerelease yesterday and apparently this is one of the most popular commanders of this set but I'm not sure I understand why. It seems to me like the deck can only do one thing, equip your commander with a pariah effect and give it some form of protection, either waiting around to be able to do all that in a single turn under a silence effect or praying that you somehow survive a rotation without any interaction thrown your way.

Am I missing something or is it actually bad? I looked up some gameplay videos of it and it just seems to confirm what I suspect, you basically do nothing but cast your commander and see it being removed all game.

Deckbuilding is mostly about deciding how many cards you want to assign to your deck's themes, and ensuring you have enough interaction, ramp and draw to play those themes. How many interaction pieces do you want to run? How much ramp, how much draw? How many pieces of these kinds can you get that synergise with your commander, and does this synergy result in a better rate than staples in those categories? If the answers to these questions don't match the cards in your deck, those are the first changes you should make.

To me it looks like you have a lot of cards tied up in death-trigger related effects, but your commander works off activated abilities. I'd cut some of the former and add more of the latter.
