I've always struggled to divorce the monk class with the classic wuxia heroes it originates from, but I do appreciate that 2024 5e at least makes an attempt to pull the base class away from it thematically while still leaving the option there for that to be the case.

Kung Fu monks are great, I agree. But theres so many aspects of unarmed fighting and discipline then just Shoalin. It's also an issue of Diversity IMHO. After how many years it just gets a bit boring. I guess you could make a fighter thats a boxer but that doesn't feel as nice compared to playing a class dedicated to fighting unarmed.
