▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop minature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

A successful game campaign takes place over the course of 25 to 30 'lantern years' maximum, marked by completing one full phase cycle. Watch as your settlement grows and witness the survivors write their own narrative as they age. Hone your strategy and learn from your mistakes to overcome the immense odds in this cruel and twisted nightmare scape.

Had a Survivor with 4 base Luck from the Graves Principle story event, Winning the Gambler's hunt event, Scarification and the Sleeping Virus Flower pretty early on.

They scored 5 Crits on Slenderman in one turn with the Whistling Mace + Surge. Forgot about the brain damage "reward" on crits and they promptly died of Brain Trauma.

I managed to wound him ONCE throughout the entire fight, while he was mopping up the floor with my survivors
At least the defeat results aren’t very bad and are somewhat funny

My group is planning on starting our next campaign. We've only done People of the Lantern so far. What are the opinions on People of the Sun and People of the Stars?

I want to paint my KD:M minis but they intimidate the fuck out of me, specifically the lighting. Canonically, there's no ambient light at all, it's just the lanterns. But if you paint it that way then 70% of the mini is gonna be some variety of black, and the only light will come from OSL sources that originate below the model's face and is beaming upwards and since it's coming from below and you're looking down at the model from above it's just gonna look like shit.

On the other hand, if you ignore that and you paint with a standard top down light, the minis have all these lanterns everywhere that even if you try to do OSL are not gonna have any real impact whatsoever. Either you basically ignore them and don't do OSL and it's just straight heretical or you do OSL on top of the top down light and it has almost no effect but takes a ton of effort...

My main gripe with KDM is that people at team death sculpt so many great asses on minis just to hide them under skirts cloaks and loincloths afterwards

I'm waiting on the main box to get in stock in the EU to grab the game. So far, I got the Red Witches expansion just because of FOMO. Tried to give them a sort of tint to make them feel slightly different from eachother; used browns and greens on Braal, reds for Nico and for the seer I'm trying to make her seem more pale and ghostly. Need to give her some more color tho. Also, what is up with the shitty gaps on the front of the models? I'd assume you'd design the sprue to put the gaps on places that could be easily hidden.

Anyone here have any idea on the scale of the busts? I'm just not finding anything other than Google's godawful ai response saying it's 1:10 and its using the Murder Bust as a reference which is 12cm tall from, I'm assuming the bottom of the plinth to the top of the head. That sounds too big to be 1:10 to me or am I mistaken?
Follow up question; Whats the size on the Butcher Bust? It's got to be a lot bigger for that price tag. Would be a shame if they were all just 12cm tall to keep them all the same consistent size but then that would make the Butcher bust much smaller than 1:10 since the dude is suppose to be a behemoth

No idea. I don't think we've ever gotten an official height of anything within KDM. Some of the monsters even change size at will, confirmed by one of the staff members, so the miniature scale is not something that can be used as comparison.

Even more so, it's confirmed in universe that butchers grow bigger as they age. So trying to use miniatures to calculate scale is pretty meaningless because you don't know the age of the butcher.

How's KDM as a solo game? I've been wanting to get into it but people in my city only play MTG/40k/D&D 5E so it's hard to get people interested in anything less mainstream.

The survivor busts all around the same size (~15-20 cm), here's a comparison to a regular mini. I don't own the butcher bust but having seen it in person it's scaled "appropriately" to the monster when compared to the survivor busts. It's large and very wide.

It's fine solo, you'll progress slower since you can't split bookkeeping but there's also less deliberating on decisions. You can also try introducing friends that aren't into board games, most people will enjoy it for a session, some will enjoy it enough to come back for more.

I've heard a lot of people use something called Scribe, a phone app that significantly helps with bookkeeping, especially with arcs. But I like the physical manipulation of decks and bits and pieces personally, so I've never dabbled seriously with it. Not sure if that'll change whenever I play PotDK though.

It gives you the option to start over or to hunt another monster without recovering. You could just go hunt a level 1 white lion if you didn't want to restart. And restarting isn't a loss either, because you get to keep all your gear and your 4 hunting survivors, so you're starting from year 1 with a huge advantage.

That is actually the plan, yes. Next batch of expansions is Titan Bee, Honeycomb Weaver, Screaming God, and Dead Armor.

What an amazingly flavorful encounter, incredibly cool, but I wish there was some better strategy/incentive to fight him instead of getting ragdolled around the board and waiting for applause
now I get why I heard people calling him a cutscene
