The fact that she did this in near perfect silence was, strictly speaking, not a needed clarification - she hadn’t said anything for years. Which was both a blessing and a curse. A curse because she literally could not speak, and a blessing because it meant she got to spend time with her sister. And also she could curse inside of her head as much as she wanted to with no risk of it ever slipping out.

Because holy shit what the fuck. Karen was a Dawn. The strong sword arm of the Unconquered Sun. Her sword was so big she had to fold it in half to reasonably carry it around. She should not be getting casually outclassed by any kind of mortal. Like, okay, sure, they were a half caste sidereal. That's not as good in a straight fight as a full sidereal, which is only sometimes as good in a straight fight as a full solar. Not discounting caste specialties or psychological warfare, like putting Misho up against Nemen.

But no, some random mortal that Nemen blackmailed into joining the competition just absolutely made everyone eat shit and die a little bit inside. Which sort of made sense, Nemen was obviously cheating, but at the same time... Karen can't do that. Marena can't do that. Ten Winds, as amazing as he is, can't do that. Hell, someone who knew all of the charms they'd used and was able to use them all at once miiight be able to do that, but they'd never be able to pay for it. The girls essence hadn't even flickered. That was normal for her, and that was fucking terrifying.

Which is part of why Karen had to resist the urge to jump into the air when the mortal in question slipped into a chair at the table she was sharing with her sister. Behind her followed a number of others.

Karen goes rigid. Ten Winds looks at Messier and raises an eye. Marena blinks and sputters. Thimia just nods, as though that makes perfect sense. To either side of her, the other half caste blinks in confusion while the mortal completely misses how impossible that's supposed to be.

"How much experience did you have saved up?" Marena whispers, a faint note of horrified fascination in her voice. "And how much of it did you spend?"

"Enough. And too much. I can't do that again, if that's what you're asking." The fucking freaks voice is exhausted, which all of a sudden makes perfect sense.

"Ah... excuse me?" The mortal woman interjects. "May I ask what exactly that means? I'm not exactly martially inclined, or knowledgeable about the use of essence."

Marena goes to respond, and then pauses, unsure. Karen gets it. How do you explain a character sheet to an npc? How do you explain color to someone who is blind?

And, sometimes, the thing we gain is totally unrelated to the task at hand. Those thousand sword swings might serve as the catalyst that causes us to grow more skilled at archery, for example."

"But", the woman stutters out in confusion. "That doesn't make any sense? How can practicing the sword make you better at archery? Those two things aren't connected at all!"

This time, it's Messier who speaks up.

"I turned off my ability to learn and grow. In the process of turning it back on, I basically spent a year and a half worth of study and self reflection in the span of about twenty seconds, which meant I learned almost everything about what was going on around me. Including the charms they were using."

Ten Winds side eyes her, and Karen shrugs. She doesn't trust the girl. The explaination of what she did doesn't cover HOW she did it, because that still should have been impossible.

She flickers her own eyes off to the side, towards Marena, and shrugs. Her sister nods faintly, and then three of them look towards Misho's wife, Thimia. She fiddles with her ring faintly, before shrugging.

"I think Misho will be fine with it." And with that, they're a team.

The rest of Ironheart is as terrible as the first two episodes mainly due to the plot simultaneously want to portray Riri as a well-intentioned person haunted by grief but ALSO to enable the funni eat the rich heist plot AT ANY COST, resulting in Riri trying to befriend the people she’s blackmailing, fight with her AI friend and attempt to see the best in career criminals who ultimately try to kill her before being unceremoniously dismissed by their own boss for gross incompetence. At the same time yes, Riri ends up isolating so many people due to her bad decisions that I think she’d be comically easy to hook up with by giving even token support to her unhinged decisions. The perk helps you maintain constant link and communication, and as you spread their influence they can increase their ability to interfere and influence the world from empowering further worshipers to eventually being able to send messages and divine servants when they get influential enough. And just as how a God can give visions or show favor for someone who isn't a cleric, so too will they still be able to continue to support you in future jumps even if you aren't a divine caster.

Looks kind of like you were taking a stab at the branching class promotions from that game as a more general design thing? Personally would suggest that dark magic be lumped in with the drop-in/old lore (read: Formortis and the sealing) stuff so you can have that be distinct from the unintentionally solid throughline Lute and L'arachel give for supremely confident normal spellcaster/healer. Or maybe just have dark magic in with thief as generic evil stuff since they didn't get mapped to a split either? Would make the deception perk good to pull double duty since you'd have normal roguish hoodwinking along with Lyon's whole bit of not actually being possessed (initially). For items, I'd suggest cheating and using some of the unique skills/weapons the Sacred Stones characters got in Heroes if you don't just want to repeat a chunk of the standard/GBA-specific item roster, and some unique stuff that might make sense like a merc band/outfit that serves as the extra muscle that would've been backing up Gerick/Marissa or some things that might be useful later like a way to summon the local Terrors (basically an FE - Awakening Reeking Box, but it spawns/summons monsters from Magvel instead of Risen) or a copy of the Lagdou Ruins for training/looting. Maybe a title as a landed noble since you work with at least one noble from each of the not-evil nations in that game (Tana, Joshua, and L'Arachel, to name a few).

Could have it be that the origins change class role based on nation/faction picked, since the Peg Knights and Wyvern Riders are as always in two opposing nations (Frelia and Grado).

I would suggest this. Ecchi perks and drawbacks kick in at a certain age. You can get them, they are just dormant until you are old enough people might want to do Ecchi stuff with you. Nah, Lescatie isn't the main event or even the most detailed (that's Side 3's Court Alf history).
It's just the one fanfic authors that dislike the mamono tend to mono-focus on, but it's not the most important event or even normally relevant aside from the opening section of one World Guide and later the main location explored on one of the Side Guides, which are focused on tourism.
MGE itself is mostly books talking about the setting, and the few canon short stories don't much focus on the process of monsterization itself.
But basically, monsterization in MGE is more or less used as a mean to have the characters become hornier, more direct and change outfits/appearance.
The process isn't focused on and most times it just goes "mamono mana instantly monsterizes the girl" rather than some slow corruption.
Mamono also tend to solve things without too much effort when they get directly involved, so the franchise ultimately is nearly entirely composed of information about: species, locations, spells, items, activities, etc. that you can use to imagine a happy married life with a monster girl(s).

Weakness to the sun (something that is in almost every jump) is far worse than an equivalent weakness to Kryptonite (which is in like two dozen jumps at best and which you will otherwise never encounter. Immunity to magic (which is in like a third of all jumps) is way more useful than immunity to some random power system that's only in one jump. The power to control bugs (from a setting with a bunch of kaiju sized bugs in it) is less portable than an army of loyal kaiju bugs offered as an item that always comes with you. This is just common sense.

This makes no sense. Being a vampire gives you bonuses and/or weaknesses. You use the basic Jumpchain mechanic of alt forms to claim the bonuses when you aren't exposed to the weaknesses, or when the bonuses are worth it regardless. The real problem is that you can only be in one alt form at once (barring a few rare perks in individual other jumps), so a race ought to cost less than that race's powers offered as a perk which stacks with other alt forms.

In my experience writing is one of those things that gets better the more you work at it, and making simple delineations between characters and sequential events can give you a broader understanding of what you're actually trying to accomplish in any given story. There's many nuances but you're better served just writing something and figuring it out as you go along then. "Man cast fireball, but he is fighting a living tornado so it goes through, man goes on quest to make tornado-slaying sword, man accidentally becomes Demon's Souls reference" level shit is how I went from a handful of sentences to full-on fanfic writing.

Demons, even Demon: The Fallen demons, are weaker than Fae and about on par with medieval Mages, so their power system changing makes no difference to balance.

Mages start with the Pillar system. Through extreme mind bending experiences a mage would be able to eventually become a Sphere style mage. (There's no Perk for this because no one has ever done it and no one will do it for centuries at this point). From there, they could then become an arch mage and from there they could eventually learn a bunch of really high spheres. All that would take centuries. Not "will happen in centuries", but is achievable if you spend all your time training WoD magick at the expense of any powers or technology from any of the dozens of jumps you'd have been in during that time.

Your Fae altform you payed for remains a Fae, not a CtD style Changeling, because you need to undergo a specific ritual to turn yourself into a Changeling. You don't need to use that ritual, because a free perk means that Banality will never kill you (which is the reason why Fae wanted to do it) and you can ignore all the weaknesses of the Fae via staying in other alt forms except for brief periods during which you're working magic.

Mages have some power now, with a huge amount of power waiting if they devote dozens of jumps to it, which they might not do if you find a better system to work at during those jumps. Fae that extreme amount of power right now. Hence, why they cost more.

Like yeah, without the perk that stops disbelief from killing them, the Fae just fucking die and are worth little due to being instantly killed in most other settings. But the fact that most other settings instantly kill them means they get a perk to stop that, which makes them OP and being an alt form means their drawbacks are easily manageable.

ANY Fallen demon has the potential to become an Earthbound simply by being bound to a certain locale by outside context magic for a significant duration, as proven by some of the example Earthbound backgrounds in their sourcebook. And Earthbound, as I trust you know, have drastically greater range and more destructive powers than regular demons. Furthermore demons have the endgoal of remaking reality by using regular humans as batteries, which I would argue puts demons on par with mages in terms of long windup since you can buy ordinary humans OCs for like 50 CP before subjecting them to whatever experiments. Especially in your own jumps where True Faith is a perk. Even casting all that aside I feel you’re underselling Lores. Patterns can twist time at 5 dots. Paths can twist the destination, gravity, direction and flow of time for a given loop or seal off a path indefinitely. Portals can directly make holes into the void beyond existence, which instinctively lashes out. Also straight up make miles-apart portals (3 dots). Celestials has a damn Agg torch at 4 dots. I would argue all of that is on par with a castle-melting sunbeam relative to it’s niche and the main thing that puts it below fae powers is merely that it all costs Faith. Which isn’t to say they aren’t more energy efficient, but that energy efficiency is the only thing the fae have going for them.

Which brings me to two very simple points I’m trying to make about how you’ve balanced the Fae: All these problems come about because of the free perk buffing the Fae, and I’m no longer sure why said free perks exist when Banality isn’t a mere absence per se. It’s an actual metaphysical force that has complex interactions with other splats. Which means that it’s…similar to Paradox. Which should not exist in most jumps after oWoD. Which means that by your same logic about Fae no longer being in danger of Sunderings after the jump, mages should no longer have to fear Paradox.
