I guess that’s true, but it has limits. Part of zenestra’s big thing is that the eldest inhabitants of hammerhal remember she was old enough to be a grandmother when the realmgate wars started, which is considered impossible given she’s still alive ~130 years later. It’s even noted that that’s well beyond what access to a load of aqua Ghyranis could do for a person

screen shot fucked up so here's just the green text
> Gooood Evening, the storyteller has returned.
In the distant realm of Shyish, legions beyond counting are being committed to the production lines — nay, verily, in numbers most prodigious!
They say the decapitation strike remains the most efficacious stratagem in all Warhammer lore, and Katakros has gained newfound insight into this art — perchance you have witnessed the Ossiarch Ruststalker?
Do you recall the tale of Katakros' own demise?

Were you to possess a formidable Ossiarchstrike Chariot, every difficulty would find its solution! Indeed — let that golden Chariot be rendered grander and more magnificent!
Why, pray tell, do so many in the Mortal Realms resort to the use of firearms? 'Tis most vexing! Had our warriors but the gift of a third eye, these wretched gunslingers would pose no threat!
The Blacktoof shall return — yet how distant lies that future? That, my friends, remains a secret veiled in shadow!

From what happened in dawnbringers it seems like she’s either the last fragment of the Cinder God, a god of death worshipped by the ancient version of the wheel cult in Aqysh and who nagash ate, or their last follower who’s been divinely empowered by whatever is left of them. Probably the former given the cinder god keeps coming up in battletomes and they consistently tip-toe around using any pronouns for them, to not give it away.

She is a genuinely worshipper of sigmar, though, and is calling upon his power when she conjures miracles, she’s just got this piece of divine deathly magic she’s using alongside it. She basically just took her old religious philosophy on life/death and retooled it to prop up Sigmar as the patron of it, to keep it alive. Weirdly seemingly not even in a cynical way, “Sigmar is what keeps the wheel turning, and the generations marching on, so we praise him for that” is just genuinely something she believes and has integrated into the belief system. A god of death worshipping Sigmar because his empire is the only thing that’s kept the cycle of life and death going.

To be fair obr's thing of ancient warfare and skeleton constructs does lead one to chariots and big fuckers pretty quickly, even without tomb kings. I mean in a way the big triarch dudes already are ushabti, as long as they're visually different enough it's not the biggest problem in the world. That being said I want an obr bone-construct war elephant.

this >>96904485 if the unit is small, don't bother wasting a model on the musician

nobody will have a problem if you count the unit as still technically having the musician, otherwise if you still want a visual representation of the rule, get one or two familiars with tooting horns on their separate bases to slap as tokens next to the unit

in other cases, ways to freshen a musician is to have it have a small story, for example by attaching a severed head at the edge of the drumskin you are essentially insulting that race, and you can do that with almost anything
you can also double down on the drumstick by making the head a skull or another head sewn shut
you can also tell a story about why this guy in particular is the musician, say for example he's missing an arm or it's scarred, suddenly there's the impression he's been given this role both as a honor for whatever he achieved and because he's not really fit for normal combat

it works particularly well with less conventional races like orcs and lizardmen, where the drumskin ends up in a flashier color

Great game, strongly thematically tied to hopecore aos, easy to learn/pick up and play, maybe the most fun rpg cubicle7 has put together. Shame the Benjamin button looking tin-tin who runs the company seems to hate it for some reason, it gets 0 advertising and champions of chaos got shafted a million different ways. Still confident that book will get fixed eventually, though, soulbound sells well for a branded TTRPG and they’re contractually obligated to keep making it, so all these bad reviews are something they have to adress.

Hopeful for more to come

I've bought most of them out of principle, and i have a copy of the rest. None are hard to find on here, but the tg copies of some books are missing some errata that makes them less complete. I recommend giving it a shot, or at least leafing through some of the books because they do insane amounts of ground level worldbuilding that GW often builds off of later.

When i say champions of chaos will get fixed i mean it's fairly clear they had a like 2/3rds of the way finished book created during 3e and then tin-tin whipped the dnd homebrewers they employ into finishing it without those people ever having played soulbound before. At its core its a good book that introduces a bunch of cool ideas and nails some parts of what chaos meta progression should be, but the blanks were filled in by people who've been mind broken by wizards of the coast so you end up with stuff like skaven's racial trait being "once a day you can force an ally to take damage for you" in a game that has no other once per day abilities, or chaos familiars and steeds (with the harbinger of decay class built around the latter) having a dozen ways to get them, but no statblocks for them or indication what they're supposed to do or be.

Relatively straightforward and "honest", study infantry to sit on objectives, cav to pin and deal heavy damage, big monsters bricks, good slann magic to back them up. They've got a pretty deep roster so you can go hard in one aspect if you want to. That being said they're pretty underpowered now, one of the bottom armies in tourneys iirc. Not unplayable by any means, especially in casual games, but something to be aware of.

Is 40k as forceful with their named characters? Callis and Toll went from Nick Horth's scrapped setting direction to a rebooted POV for the setting and similarly Neave went from generic Stormcast hero #23 to the single AoS cartoon and action figure.
It feels so inorganic and forced as opposed to a 40k character clamoured for since the 80s or something.
I guess it's here nor there but like one book for the C&T reboot but I'm supposed to be giddy they're in some game? Bruh I care more about Galen and Doralia FFS

Alright so some guy on reddit posted a (supposedly) higher resolution of darkwater, although I honestly still can't see shit. He claims he's got it in a brochure and he's taking the pic with his shitty phone, whatever.
The interesting thing is he claims the kurnothi is not actually a kurnothi, it's an idoneth, and the little fox sprite is actual a little fish. I'm not convinced honestly, it looks pretty clearly kurnothi, it's on an oval base, unless we're getting some idoneth kelpie centaurs (admittedly based as fuck) I think he's wrong about that.
anyway thought it might be interesting to share, guess we'll find out in a few days.

Then that explains perfectly why high elves didn't do much for you: they had way less oriental flair and it was a faction of elves and their pets, not a faction of elves and their spiritual allies.
Chances are that the only part of high elves you might have liked were the concept of a friendship with dragons, and that you probably would have likewise favoured wood elves over high elves for their treemen.

not. at all. have you seen what they do to the bones to actually make their constructs? they practically break them down into bone dust and then reconstitute them back together, almost like a magical cement, you can see as much on the boneshaper minis.

I wouldn't say "not at all". They do differentiate bone types, but not with the motivations that anon wants to assume they do. Dryads are often presented as an interface between human and Sylvaneth, because Tree Revs don't speak, and it's never been as anything but their given tree form.
WHF fluff doesn't carry over by default, especially if it's only ever contradicted in the fluff. i.e. you can't just expect Orc spores to carry over as a concept if they're never referenced. There's nothing like spore trackers or infestations after a battle with Orruks or Grots.

>A Sylvaneth’s bark acts as armoured skin, beneath which is a heartwood core. The bark can vary wildly in colour and pattern, and may be further adjusted by the immediacy of its needs, becoming thicker when fighting or lighter when on the run. Sylvaneth often
encourage plants to grow on their bodies,
adorning themselves in crowns of living
flowers or mantles of lush vines. Many grow
manes of twigs on their heads that resemble hair, or jagged branches that act as horns or antlers. The visage of a Sylvaneth is shaped by
the knots and hollows in their heads, with fey
lights glowing from the pits of their eyes. A
Sylvaneth’s face does not typically change with
age, but instead remains locked in whichever expression the Sylvaneth consciously adopts.

Short answer is that GW is retarded, and a company only kept afloat by its strong IPs that were made by people that were massively more talented than the current people working there.
More detailed answer is
>fyreslayers
They suffered hard from early cartoon AOS syndrome similar to stormcast and early khorne minis ,peoplealso disliked the no pants thing, everyone loves the fluff of the army and some of the art is cool as hell.
gw also doesn't know how to expand them either and so they were stuck in a downward spiral of having all this cool fluff bit minis people didn't like
>sylvaneth
James probably expanded the wood site of the army to a level they are satisfied with and now are looking to capture more people with something new
>gitz
They have no place to put wolves anywhere else because gw made the retarded decision to separated orcs and goblins instead of making gork/mork books so you can to thematically amd visually fitting armies.

I just want more flavor stuff and fun effects that don't require a roll off. They added some cool stuff with the soggy units and some neat stuff is showing up in the new army books (presumably to help make up for the older army books sucking fat cock)

I'm sick of all the fucking stipulations and bullshit to have something as simple as "deal d3 damage", like holy fuck give me anything else to do or work towards.

Realms of Ruin was pretty good. Just don't expect a Warcraft style RTS, it's closer to Total War in terms of fighting.
Also wins the price for most digusting unit-sound effect I've ever heard.

Cursed city was alright. But regardless, people are more interested in the models. In the same way cursed city was basically a soulblight start collecting, this will be mostly a source of maggotkin.

Cursed City was bad in ways mostly related to the specific gimmick rules it added, whatever Darkwater does it's not going to be a carbon copy of Cursed City. Most GW Quest games are at least decently playable, and absolutely stuffed with cool models.

Did we ever find out why GW was selling boxes of Saurus Warriors but labelled the box as Saurus Guard? Do you think GW is renaming Saurus Warriors to Saurus Guard and Saurus Guard to like Spawn of Quetzl?

It was odd because iirc that guy posted the back of the model and it just said saurus warriors like normal. Feels like a real weird issue to slip through either way though.

It wasn't just in Vietnam, it was in other countries too. They're also made in the UK. While it is likely a mistake in the packaging.

Yeah it's an odd mistake to make, especially when it's not like the box changed. If you believe the rumours, GW is trying to change the models from legacy factions into something different. Which is why Seraphon have metal shields, while Lizardmen have scale shields (and obviously look better in general, though I prefer scale shields) and have become more 'astral' compared to Lizardmen. It's why Ogres are going to become grugs. It's why there are Mork orcs and why skaven have become more mad scientist and vampires have become less wolves in sheep clothing and more outwardly bestial.

So I was wondering if GW was going to call Saurus Warriors 'Saurus Guard' because in WHFB there is no unit called Saurus Guard, this will allow GW to allow Lizardmen back into TOW and sell the old Saurus Warriors as Saurus Warriors and the current Saurus Guard as Temple Guard. Then a new unit can come out to replace the old (and bad) Saurus Guard and they can call it something like Spawn of Quetzl. This will allow a visual separation and, as the rumours claim, allow GW to bring legacy factions into TOW without stepping too much visually on the AoS versions.

But who knows. It's really odd that kit wasn't updated it looks so fucking out of place. It's like GW releasing Crowe for GK and now he looks fucking retarded with GK because GK are really small compared to him.

Yeah that's the assumed reasoning yeah, tow gets saurus warriors and temple guard, aos gets saurus guard (=warriors) and 'wardens of quetzl' (=guard). Fits the nu-seraphon naming scheme too, hunters of huanchi, spawn of chotec, etc

It should be able to clear 100 point chaff reasonably well without any buffs. Without looking at other rules, once you add onslaught, 5 S8 3/6 attacks should be doing about 12-15 damage per attack.
