Playing Lizardos, all our named characters except the skinks (bar lizard Hitler, Tehenhauin) are alive.
Kroq-Gar's model is still sold as the Old Blood on Carnosaur. They have a new White Lizard model that looks like it was totally going to be Gor-rok before they blew up the world.
Kroak was, of course, still around. Though his new model is a bit too ostentatious.

I still want to see an official Mazdamundi on Zlaaq model. Pic somewhat related.

That's not the point, the point is that once these coincidences are established then you either establish them as purely accidental or as having a reason, in the case of the warhammer world, there's a reason, the old ones prearranged a number of different planets with very similar templates and predicted how they would develop, again, on similar templates, down to the specifics of the exact year a guy called colombo would reach the western continent.
If all that stuff is similar, the plenty of other stuff is also similar, for that reason, and the people of the world calling the world in the same way fits alongside them calling other places with similar names, or having similar cultures, or whatever else.
When there's a difference, it's clear, in the case of the name of the world, there hasn't been a difference, the people call it earth, just like the call the sea, sea, and the sky, sky and the river reik.

Honestly I never saw the point of the two major elf factions being separate, the ranges are practically identical. Paint high elves in black and purple and dark elves in blue and white and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference on the tabletop. Wood elves are based though. They can stay.

This is the thing that kills the rumor for me too, GW is very cautious with having their games parasitize eachother. Releasing very similar armies at the same time for two seperate games is going to mean that one or both of those armies are going to sells less individually than if they were spaced out.
