Have Orks ever actually been a threat? The Eldar only ruled for that long because Chaos knew it would be easy to dispose of them when the time came for the Emperor to rise to power. They do, channels like PlayOnTabletop get 100k+ and there are channels like Bring&Battle and Minisodes that do retro games with consistent viewership. I think the biggest issue a Battlefleet redo is going to face is making and selling models. Ok, you can imagine ships out of thin air, but there are only so many ships you can take in a battle, and given they'll be small, so many ways you can sell it while encouraging people to buy more. Once you've got the 'core' Imperial ships, there's not much more GW can sell for that faction that would serve a purpose. They could maybe monetise the fuck out of it with upgrade kits, but I think it would simply lack a viable way to bring in constant income. In 40k or other big games, I have a variety of different models/units that serve different purposes. If I want some, I have to buy a box that specifically contains it. I could spend thousands and still not have a 'complete' army of all the kits that faction sells. With battlefleet, you'll likely get a 'foundational' kit with cruisers, escorts etc. What does the consoomer buy then? More cruisers? For what purpose?

40k is a mainline game that is their main cash cow. There's a massive risk in putting all their eggs in the battlefleet basket. As stated before, not everyone is a spaceshipphile.
Secondly, there's only so many types of ships you can create. Lets say for each faction you've got a starter box, a 'big' ship that is multi-part, a cruiser box that is multi-part, a frigate box that is multi-part and maybe some tiny fighters/bombers and upgrade kits. For a faction, you'll have 12 boxes at best. Given the small size of the models, consoomers only need to spend 300-400 to 'max out' the faction. If they don't want any other factions, that's their entire piggying done.

For 40k, even if someone doesn't want to continue the hobby, chances are they've thrown a few hundred bucks at a combat patrol or some other kits. For those who do want to continue, there are hundreds of kits to choose from that all serve a variety of different purposes and army tactics. Spaceships are fairly cornered in their roles and cannot do anything drastically different to any other ship. Yes, a scouting frigate isn't the same as a massive carrier, but they are more similar than a intercessor and a stormeagle. 40k has much more unit variety due to how ground/air combat works, while space is pretty much slow/fragile ship with less/more guns.

TLDR: Battlefleet 'armies' are not unique enough in gameplay or tactical variety to encourage the continued purchases that 40k or other army games would when the new WAAC figure comes along

The one thing that makes space games hard is terrain, but there's ways around it. You can have them fighting in an asteroid field, you can have them fighting in debris. You can have them fighting around a massive space station or blackstone fortress with hazards / point defence zones. You can have them fighting near a warp rift or in the warp itself and suffer attacks on their gellar fields or needing to avoid warp storms etc.

More guns, firing deck, and a lot of the good primaris infantry can’t go in rhinos. Paired with MSU primacy the old metal boxes have the short end of the stick.

If you don't plan on making the redeemer or crusader variants, take a look at the 30k proteus kit. It now comes with an assault ramp and since the kit is much newer it builds a lot cleaner.

Okay well if you're talking about sculpting then the answer is still bat wings are harder than a cloak. A cloak is just a piece of fabric, it doesn't need to be any particular shape, it just needs to be floppy fabric. Bat wings need to resemble wings from a bat, with all the little finger bones and a specific silhouette. It's much easier to make a cloak look like a cloak then it is to make bat wings look like batwings because one is a more consistent shape. Hope that helps. Personally I think it would be easier to find some bat wing bits you like and then clone them with a blue stuff press mould as many times as you need.
