I had a ghoul assistant who took care of all my character's trivial stuff so he could focus on his mystical pursuits. She was the kind of ice cold secretary type who would gladly glare down vampires who thought to break hospitality & protocol on his behalf. She was 100% in love with my character & would show the occasional vulnerability when alone, he wanted to embrace her & planned to do so when allowed, but she kept delaying it saying that she didn't trust anyone else to guard him during the day

This is why the actual best edition for Vampire lore is 1e. It's Masquerade before the setting began to crystalize. Even if it could get kinda stupid at points, you didn't have to deal with any of the signature character jerk-off stuff.

It's a bit more nuanced than that. Yes, almost every VtM book included a section that says some variant of "nobody gives a shit if you ignore or rewrite the official lore, it's a tabletop game". The setting purists were almost invariably a subset of players rather than the writers themselves. But VtR would much more frequently go one step further, rather than just tell you that you can make up alternate suggestions, and maybe suggest one or two ideas, it would give you multiple choices from the word go. It isn't that Masquerade was anti-customization, just that Requiem put a lot more effort into facilitating said customization.

The problem is that unless you're playing a fresh-off the bat pack, this is more suited to be an antagonist/supernatural encounter in Hunter or Mage rather than a scenario for Werewolf. It would work in a non-ttrpg setting as that character is a lot of baggage for the ST to work through and it's somewhat similar as it is to the scenario in book of hungry names, just without the kinfolk . A movie(never happening) could be kino but I imagine more on the line of a webcomic or vidya would be neat

I think the bigger Sabbat L is how the minute they had any real power, they basically stopped actively trying to hunt the Antediluvians and instead just engaged in turf wars with the Camarilla. That and their unhinged, apocalyptist, and not very internally consistent flavor of Noddism makes Noddism look patently unreasonable to a lot of people, which also plays into the Antediluvian's favor. They claim to be the Antediluvian's biggest op, but they end up helping them most of the time.

my character has an Elder - Uncle Pavel - that cleaned things up and took her in after her first change (where she killed all of her first set of bandmates while being delinquents in a junkyard). Previously thought of as the eccentric old man of the neigborhood that still had business back in the Old Country, actually is an experienced Shadow Lord Philodox.

My character's pack got spirited away for a few days unexplainedly and when we got back to the caern he had one of those conspiracy theory walls with threads and pins dedicated to finding her. Really hit home the whole touchstone thing, I'll do everything I can for the old man

"you" as in my actual person? No. I'm lonely but not that lonely. Attached to is a different game entirely, I'd go so far as to say if you aren't attached to at least a few of the NPCs in game, something's wrong.

"You" as in a player character I've played? Yeah. I don't go out of my way for it to happen, but my characters keep getting romantically involved. They'll do something like innocuously flirt, and then next thing I know the ST thinks that said NPC needs to be important and they keep coming up. Last chronicle, a Hunter: the Vigil one, there was a minor plot about my character dating another PC's sister. I didn't want it to get in the way of the story, so it was mostly focused on when a vampire started targeting her for the embrace. The other big WoD example I can think of came at the end of a pretty lengthy VtM with modified VtR 2e rules Chronicle. I had been playing a young, talented, ambitious and good looking Ventrue. She was romantically uninvolved for a good 80-90% of the game, in fact oftentimes her looks were a detriment, since it attracted a lot of unwanted attention from predominantly but not exclusively Kindred creeps. Then, towards the end of the game, when she was struggling with burnout, a bunch of attractive men all but fell from the sky. She ended up romantically involved with a very Dresden-esque Sorcerer, Wizard PI, that kind of stuff. The funniest part was the ST had to make him up on the spot. The original plot was supposed to be that he was a low clarity changeling who styled himself as the heroic knight, and was going to end up kidnapping the Ventrue under the delusion that she was a princess he was rescuing. But then the Kiasyd's player flaked and he didn't want to have the Changeling crossover session happen without the guy who wouldn't shut up about Changeling crossover.

Honestly, I'm making my next character as unfuckable as humanly possible to avoid bogging the game down.

I was never as hard as the first time I saw the hospital scene in AVPR in theatres. The first part, not the bellybursters

He didn't die or anything. The two kept dating for the rest of the chronicle. He became my Ventrue's go-to guy on occult stuff since he wasn't involved in the jyhad. He played a very important but not often on-screen role in the finale of the Chronicle. Fair warning, it's a bit of a long story if anyone's interested.

Otherwise, the two stayed together. Having someone to care about that wasn't directly involved in the Jyhad cured her burnout. He played a minor role in a Geist: the Sin Eaters game I ran, a late game heavy hitter who could give the pretty low-level and not very occult-y PCs the QRD on some of the weirder stuff out there. Really fun guy, together the group sorta crystalized his concept into being this man out of time, doing the occult-wizard version of Have Gun - Will Travel mixed with high level paranormal detective.

If I were ever to revisit the two some years later, I'd say she's probably at the point of wanting to get married and to ghoul him without blood-bonding him. Both of which are things she'd really need to keep on the down-low since even being an actually competent pro-Elder Ventrue doesn't give you immunity to EVERY Kindred law, just most. After that, I reckon the two would start trying to crack the Dhampir code.

I suppose so. It's actually the only proper long-running VtM chronicle I've played in. There's a lot of... impermanence in ending a VtM game though, since by virtue of their immortality, their story can only ever end in tragedy, because otherwise, it just won't end. Maybe your neonate will make it for the next 10,000 years, and if so, will they be even remotely recognizable by then? Apologies if that sounded pretentious. The chronicle certainly ended on a high note for most, but not all of us.

It also wasn't a walk in the park in actual play. It could be pretty brutal and dark. Two PCs met final death, one of which happened after he hit 0 humanity and went completely feral. Several other PCs got retired due to their players not having much fun playing them. We saw some real fucked up shit happen to people, only some of whom actually had it coming. Good time, very good time. Would be happy to revisit those characters in the future, but I wouldn't bet on the rest of my group being up for it.

God I miss playing my Immortal character

My group was using combined splats and we decided to keep what we were playing a secret till it came up (didn't know we had a werewolf till he transformed, etc)

Being that it seemed I was the only one (except the DM) who'd even heard of Immortal the group had a helluva time figuring out what I was, I think most thought I was an odd mage

Well at some point I died and they were curious why I wasn't making a new character, told 'em not to worry about it, in game I show back up after 2 weeks no more worse for wear, sat down and explained I was an Immortal which got a lot of laughs

Idea for a Caitiff discipline.

Blood Storage/Hammer Space

It lets them store items inside their own vitae/body. So they could say, swallow a sword or shotgun and then spit it up later. Make a small cut on their forearm & shove some bullets in there, then later press the a gun with an empty mag to it & fill it up.At high level they can swallow enemies weapons into the very wounds the weapon creates. So if some dude stabs you with a knife or stake, you could make a roll & while you take some damage from it piercing your skin, as soon as it touches your blood it absorbs the weapon. They could sell themselves as couriers for secret documents or assassins, etc.
