Toy Anxiety was given an early sample of the Mondo Peter Venkman and Sam Hain set to look at: https://youtu.be/bhUaViXxxeM?si=0rWZ2graLhPf8m7Q
Looking really good. Nice that all the swap heads seem to pop on and off easily enough. Really excited to get this in hand.
How are these being sold as 1/12 scale figures? Fucker looks 7 inches tall.
>>11442616 (OP)>>11442679These Mondo figures are way too expensive, they don’t even look all that great and the articulation is quite limited.

Kinda burnt out man
>>11442921I don't have to run out and buy the latest slop.
Mando's gonna have CC issues and you know it.
>>11442938You don't want good toys, we get it.
>>11442616 (OP)I don't think I've ever seen someone handle an action figure so gingerly. You can cut the paranoia with a knife. That doesn't exactly instill me with much confidence about the quality of these. I'm getting strong Super7 Ultimates vibes.
>>11442990You'd be wrong then. That's just how Craig acts.
>>11443146You should actually watch Toy Anxiety instead of calling people names when you get mad.
>>11443099>You'd be wrong then. And you know this how? No one else has had them in hand. The plastic quality looks identical to Super7. I'd say same outdated knee and elbow articulation as well, but even Super7 upped their game for their 2003 Turtles.
>>11443220You've never even touched a Mondo product before have you? Holy shit. It's nothing like Super7.
>>11443222Which 1/12 Mondo products have you touched?
>>11443231They're the same as their 12"
>>11443239>1/6Faggot doll lover
>>11442679They said from the start they were supposed to be 6&1/2 inch, “1/12” has been creeping up in size over the years for whatever reason so can’t blame them for going on the taller side. They do look really big next to the plasma series but don’t forget how undersized those are compared to just about every other 1/12 too.
>>11443239>They're the same as their 12"So you're retarded then? Half the size means smaller parts, means more fragility. For every company like Mattel who can make a 6" figure which doesn't break with normal use, you have a Neca "non-durable goods". It's absurd that you're even making such a corelation in quality between two vastly different products. The only thing we have to go on is the Toy Anxiety review, and in it the figure is being handled like it's made of glass, so until proven otherwise I'm gonna assume the quality is Super7 tier.
The joint design is already miles above S7 just by not being insert molded.
>>11443461Holy shit, you're actually retarded. None of that is true, it's like you've never touched a toy before. Let alone anything by Mondo. You go straight to trolling, what a shocker.

>>11443461>so until proven otherwise I'm gonna assume the quality is Super7 tier.So you make up shit in your head and then plug your ears and stamp your feet like a child. That's pretty pathetic.
>>11442616 (OP)Only thing that really bugs me is the elbow articulation. Was hoping for better then 90 degrees. These will likely be the best 1:12th RGB figures simply because I doubt anyone else will make any. At least that look this accurate.
>>11444011>I doubt anyone else will make any.Yeah, the licensor has seen to that.
>>11443942>So you make up shit in your head and then plug your ears and stamp your feet like a childAnon isn't doing anything of the sort. He's simply saying that they are being handled so gingerly in the review that he is assuming that they aren't the most robust figures. For someone that got upset at being called Necanon, you sure do act like him.
>>11442976Diosoth, forget about Sinno. Tear down that shrine of hers before the cops raid your room and find it. She's probably married and has kids by now. >>11445240mondo's QC could certainly be better but they will replace anything with no questions asked unlike some of these other companies like S7 that will just say 'oh theres nothing we can do'. They replaced all those rogue heads with the wonky eyes and let people keep the originals; they replaced he-man's entire body for the people who had it come unglued.
>>11445254>>11445255I want to live in a world where products work as intended upon release. We're letting companies get away from putting stuff out as quickly as possible and then having to deal with follow up or after-care.

>>11445672Very cool, very cool...
I can see something like this popping up in the next Ghostbusters installment.
Sadly, they'll focus more on the tech than the actual plot.
Frozen Empire tiptoed near that line when Egon's granddaughter claimed she could stop the big-bad-ghost if she copper-lined the proton pack and reversed the polarity of the neutron flow.
>>11445680I think it's because that's the kinda goofy thing they'd do in Real Ghostbusters, and if I recall the director/writer said they were trying to make a live action RGB episode more or less. I had fun with the movie but the writing was a bit all over the place. I hobbled that thing together cause I saw a turret at dollar general when I stopped in to grab someone a graduation card. Had some old gear from figures I don't care about anymore so ta da.
>>11442616 (OP)I'm really impressed with how good these look.
>>11445672That's pretty neat actually. And seems a little extra dangerous. I could see them trying to deploy that and it goes pretty badly by destroying everything around...

>>11449029Maybe sort of-ish? Now it has a USB-C port that will override it, so I imagine it wouldn't be difficult to connect a talentcell to that USB port to override the auto shutdown. The only thing I question is if the voltage of that USB port is sufficient for full use. An unmodded Afterlife pack is extremely fickle about the voltage it gets and often shuts down when fully powering up the wand because it can't handle all the power draw from the rumbling wand. Perhaps this is something they also fixed, but it's Hasbro so...
>>11448964You are so pathetic.

The only effort spent was giving them new, worse heads than the originals. They could have included an extra PKE meter with the wings down to hang from Egon's belt. They could have included the other device Egon used on the roof, which is the specific scene this set is supposed to represent. They could have included a second, open trap, with capture field effect. They could have included a new ghost or Janine to increase it's appeal to people who already had the originals. But no... just the same shit with a new coat of paint.

>>11449371I get that, but there's nothing to suggest the Plasma Series isn't dead beyond the Ecto, so it would have been nice if they could have used this set as an opportunity to give us a more complete collection. It's crazy that with everything they're released there's no open trap with capture beam effect. Mattel gave us that with their third figure. I guess it's not as big a deal if you have the Mattel stuff, but looking at this line as it's own thing, it's a pretty major display piece to not have.
Also the lack of Janine despite being such a prominent character is stupid. She's in all 4 movies, the 2009 video game, and the entirety of both animated series, and Hasbro hasn't made a single figure of her from either the movies or RGB retro line. They could've thrown her in here and sold double the sets.

>>11450145>unless Hasbro decides to do RGB Plasma series figures, these are the best we'll ever get I wagerI would honestly laugh my ass off if after all the Mondo figures have gone up for preorder, Hasbro reveals 6 inch RGB figures.
>>11450215I'd be annoyed but fuck it, I'd get them too. What if they were as tall as the Kenner line but with modern articulation? It'd let them throw in more accessories like traps and such, and they'd be able to fit into the Kenner Ecto-1. As long as they looked more like the toon than the Kenner line I'd be happy.
>>11450215The strength of Mondo's line is pretty much exclusively placed upon them actually doing the ghosts from the show. Even though the RGB figures have rarely been done, they technically DO exist out there in at least a few capacities, but fucking no one ever releases ghosts in these lines. Usually, you get lucky if any of the lines include Gozer, the terror dogs, Slimer and/or maybe Stay-Puft.
The Mondo figures are probably the first time they've done something interesting with the ghosts since probably the vintage Kenner line. No way Hasbro would ever do any of the ghosts, even if they did do the four RGBs from the cartoon.
>>11450237>actually doing the ghostsaren't these less articulated than the Ghostbusters?
>>11450272Probably, just by design of the ghosts (except maybe Boogeyman), but my point is that for the last 30+ years the running total on ghosts in Ghostbusters lines is basically nothing.
Even the vintage line didn't really do many (if any) ghosts from the actual cartoon.
>>11450215Knowing how cheap and lazy hasbro is even if they somehow made RGB they would probably just sculpt new heads and put them on the movie bodies. And even if they did actually put effort in for once they’d still be $20 retail toys so while being more articulated they’d still look way worse than these. I really don’t see us ever getting anything better than these overall unless some chinese company makes unlicensed ones.

Here's an unpopular opinion:
Let's have less releases of the GB stuff so we can enjoy what we have???
Already there's been multiple versions of the OG in the past 5 years???

Goes up tomorrow. I was hoping to get venkman before paying for another one but it’s not happening I guess.
>>11459087Just hasn't gone up yet
>>11459303Sandman, while a cool villain, is a shitty design
>>11459306He’s definitely pretty boring but I still think I want to get him to put next to Samhain and Boogeyman.
>>11449486>"Murray's hard to do."Only if you hire fiverr sculptors. A multibillion dollar conglomerate can afford to hire some better sculptors. They just won't.
>>11459321Indeed. Hasbro has a track record of using cheap freelancers in recent years. Mattel nailed Murray without the benefit of face printing 16 years ago with figures sculpted by actual professionals (four horsemen).
>>11459363>actual professionals (four horsemen)Are you trying to summon subby?
>>11452114It's certainly a weird direction after taking a year to virtue signal the fuck out of it and attacking anyone else who does not claim to love it as the best movie that ever happened.
>>11459303Sandman looks dope
>>11459432>Oh wait, it doesn't Huh?
Also is everyone obsessed over the Star Trek thing cause they couldn't actually argue with anything he said
>>11459363That doesn’t look anything like Murray.

>>11459363Lmao, no the Plasma Series one is miles ahead. The only good Mattel headsculpt was Winston and the Plasma Series is still better.
>>11459537To anyone who has never seen the RGB episode, his appearance may not look all that intimidating, but his voice sure as hell was. Him coming with Winston is fitting too since the other busters got put to sleep and he was left alone to figure out a way to catch him effectively. It's so simple but as a kid I thought it was the coolest idea.
>>11459590Wasn't it Murray demanding that no one ever be allowed to remake his likeness the reason the cartoon Ghostbusters redesigned everyone?
>>11459590That Plasma Series looks more like Ted Cruz than Bill Murray. Mattel's is undeniably Bill.

I initially agreed that the Venkman’s likeness looked off, but after comparing it to shots from the movie of Murray with a serious face I think it’s actually a lot closer than we initially thought. I think the cheeks could be slightly thinner, but I definitely do see the Murray likeness.
>>11459861I have to guess they used the bottom left picture as reference as it looks very close to the top right render. I think it’s a better attempt than the first plasma series.
>>11459861Sorry, not seeing it at all.

They’ve done 4 different Venkmans and I’m not sure a single one has gotten it right. I’d say the closest one is maybe the haslab one for GB2, but even that one is iffy.
>>11459831Mattel's looks more like some kind of amalgamation of Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.
>>11459941The Afterlife one looks great, but I assume that was a 3D scan. Obviously that wouldn't be possible for young Murray.
>>11459958I've never once seen anyone say such a thing, nor can I even remotely see it. Matty's sculpt was highly regarded at the time. Today it looks more cartoonish because of the simpler paint apps, but it's still instantly Bill Murray in my eyes. Every Hasbro sculpt I have to do mental gymnastics to try to find Bill. If the Matty sculpt were given face printed paint apps it would look amazing.

Winston and Sandman are up
https://mondoshop.com/products/the-real-ghostbusters-winston-and-sandman-collectors-pack-timed-edition
I won’t lie, it’s honestly shitty that we’re now 3 figures up for preorder without us having Venkman in hand yet with how expensive these are. Yes, I know a few reviewers have received samples, but it’s not the same.
>>11460235>This item is subject to a Tariff Surcharge for U.S. customers. As if $202 isn't absurd enough.
>>11460266>As if $202 isn't absurd enough.but… but… they’re required to make the price that high because mondo told me so!!! and they’re making the price worth it because they gave us a cool box and cardboard ghosts!!!
>>1146023511 surcharge for tariff isn't as bad as I was expecting, though that could be because it's down to 30% at the moment. Hopefully when Ray releases it won't be 4 times as high.
>>11460266At least the shipping is still free. I had to pay shipping for mumm-ra and between that, tax, and tariffs, it added another $80 on.
>>11460269You'd think for $202 they could eat the cost of the tariff. There ain't anywhere close to $202 of value in that box.
>>11460309Oh I completely agree, Both versions are only worth half what they’re charging. These are essentially super7 ultimates figures.
>>11460311S7 figures don’t have this level of paint and they have shitty insert molded joints like you see in $20 domestic toys. These are certainly overpriced and could use more articulation but saying they are S7 level is disingenuous.
>>11460235anyone else just getting the ghostbusters? already expensive as is...... doesn't help that I'm also out of display room.
>>11460334I’m getting the ghosts mostly with the plan that I may resell them. The ghosts will absolutely cover the 2-pack’s cost once these release, most people are ordering only the singles.

Anybody collect the playmobil stuff?
>>11459861>>11459941New Hasbro Venkman reminds me of Diamond Select's effort. They're both going for a similarly disheveled look.
Honestly, the new one is probably three best we've gotten. Not perfect but I definitely see it.
>>11460341I'm getting the Boogie and Sam Hain 2 packs because like most kids they were my favorite spooks from the toon. Winston and Ray I'm grabbing singles of as I don't care enough about Sandman or Ghast.
>>11460346Fuck off Retrospammer
>>11460118That profile looks better for sure, but I still don't think it looks great from the front. That said, I don't think Hasbro's look very good either. His face looks too wide, or something. I also feel like no one really gets his hair right. It looks too cartoonish or exaggerated.
Two of Mondo’s creative directors are going to be looking at the Winston and Sandman tonight via livestream at 8pm ET

Saw a vid showing off Pete and while I'm disappointed there isn't more range in the elbow, the hand movement let's them do what I'd want. That being said I really do wish they had better range there. Would it still have looked good if they molded the arms to give more range at the elbow even with a single joint, and just come together better? Like how revoltech does knees. I feel like the jumpsuit could have bunched up in ways that wouldn't have ruined the sculpt and still left it with better movement. I think my main gripe is no ball joint at the waist. That wouldn't have messed with sculpt at all and would have let them bend down or backward. You can get the pose by moving the legs up or back, so maybe it's a minor thing, but still something to note.
>>11462349You don't want good toys, we get it.
>>11462349>no ball joint at the waist. Are you serious?
>>11462351I'm looking forward to all the busters and Sam/Boogey so I'm not trashing them or anything. I wouldn't be buying them if I thought they were bad, and I doubt we'll ever see RGB figures like this ever again.
>>11462409Unless whoever the reviewer was didn't try it then it seems not. Can anyone confirm? I mean the waist can turn at the very least.
Honestly my single biggest complaint with the mondo figures is the lack of extra hands. Every figure comes with multiple hands these days, even cheap shit like marvel legends, they should have thrown in a pair of relaxed hands at the very least. It’s such a glaring oversight I can only assume they plan to try to sell the 4 of them again in civilian duds after this and want to make them more appealing.

>>11462871They don't need extra hands
>>11464955I disagree. For 101 fucking dollars they should have several sets of hands.
>>11464955>>11464963Yeah I'd say at least some pointing hands, relaxed hands, hell maybe even hands eating something since ya know Slimer. The gloved hands all you really need are the wand holding hands, but the bare hands should have more. Think anyone will 3d print some extra hand kits?
>>11464963Please understand, Mondo was forced to charge $101 per figure, and they were forbidden from including alternate hands or double joints. It's not their fault! The licensor tied their hands!
>>11464963>>11465311>>11465574You really should just be grateful we’re getting them at all.

>>11465737They can't just add in whatever they want when they're already having to pay so much for the licensing to allow these to happen.
