Baseplates go such a long way in being able to represent natural biomes, my favorite kind of set. I get phasing out raised baseplates because despite how good they look I hate how flimsy they are but if they actually end up phasing out normal ones for good like they seem to be trying to then Lego is dead to me and I'll fully making the jump to 3rd parties

When I get around to make a Lego room it's gonna have a large, nearly wall to wall, rug(easier to clean/wash than carpet), a shelf for the few things I wanna display, a desk for building, lots and lots of transparent drawers for MOC pieces and a small table for photography(might experiment with printing a bunch of landscapes to use as backgrounds)

Blacktron 2 minifigs are awful. Sets blow Blacktron 1's out of the water but the white and giant dorky "B" took one of the sleekest designs lego has ever done and ruined it. SP3 aliens are great but I find the humans in post LoM themes pretty bad overall, either too bland like MM or SP3 or annoyingly bright like AC and GS. List only had Hydronauts but I would say only the Stingrays are above B, I think these guys are S tier and among the best minifig designs lego ever did. Their helmets are one of my favorite headpieces, extremely underrated mold.

No, my parents and friends know about it. It's fairly mainstream to collect vintage stuff and Lego markets their products to adults on nostalgia and as a "puzzle / craft / hobbyist" type toy with their flowers, architecture, etc models.

I wouldn't take a first date back to my place and showing her the 100+ sets I have on display or lead with it in a conversation, but after I get to know someone, I like sharing my interests. My girlfriend and I build sets together and out of my 5 coworkers, 4 of them also have Lego and we're all in our 30s. I gave out citizenbrick figs at Christmas for work and everyone thought they were amazing.

When I was a teenager / young adult, I would try and hide it and even feel embarrassed in the toy aisle, but now it feels like a societally acceptable adult hobby and now that all the people that grew up playing with Lego are now adults.

as far as I can tell, Lego does NOT continually make things. they set the machines up, make X amount of a set to fill the warehouse, and reset the machine for the next thing.

maybe there are some exceptions where they didn't expect to sell so many of something, and they re-run something (Lego Movie 1 sets vanished and needed restocking?) but they have so many new things to make, stopping the machines to re-make something is double-costly for them since it now stops the new thing from being sold on time.

But only if it comes up organically in conversation. I see a lot of people displaying lego sets throughout living spaces these days and while I think that’s fine, it’s not my style. It all depends on the market, they will make new versions of sets that they sell through the initial batch due to demand. For the most part most of the non-IP sets are evergreen, however if they include certain molds that aren't readily available they can become a more limited run. Also cost to market comes into play, they won't go through the effort to make any more of that set in particular when they can reuse the red panda mold and sell it in a 40$ set Dreamzzz. There is also no aftermarket demand for that set either, you can literally buy it NIB for $5.
Ideas in particular are generally created and sold out as is, for the most part the demand doesn't warrant needing to make any more except in certain cases, Central Perk for example.
Some even end up with different SKUs and branding, Disney 100.

You missed out. Fortunately most of the minifigures and accessories are cheap on BL and easy to mass. And the sets, while soulful don’t do anything revolutionary design wise. You can moc stuff for it easily with the right colors. And it was the brittle brown era so you’re better off sometimes using new parts. The orc ship and the skelly ship are pretty incredible though. The problem with alt brands is that they rarely do their own thing or even play sets for that matter. It's mostly [18+ lego set] but NotLego(tm)! Almost no other brands have their own themes like Dreamzzz or Ninjago, even simple stuff like fantasy castle is absent. If I just wanted some random MOC I'd just go to rebrickable.
Mega Bloks had the right idea with Dragons and Pyrates but that was decades ago and no one has replicated it since.

I guarantee you at least 70% of the set focus will be on the exterior display. The interior won't in any way be the "improved" version of the old death star set, with the new standards for adult display models there's much more of a requirement to keep things hyperdetailed and realistic which even with the outlandish price won't be possible to do for everything(meeting room, interrogation cell and corridor, trash compactor, the room where han shoots the computer, rope swinging room, obiwan disabling the generator thing room, superlaser control room...), they can't get away with making little symbolic representations of the areas the way they did at the time. for example, the torsos and legs for these Kraken Knights but not the helmets. or maybe even those cool helmets but not the green ninja masks (so you would want to seek out expensive Ninjago sets or whatever to get the green ninja masks)

It’s a massive missed opportunity for lego to not lean into the zoo aesthetic of Jurassic park. Like each set could be modularly combined like most Harry Potter sets. Not that you can’t just moc that, but I think that would make for more interesting sets.

Lego doesn't have many "wow that was cool, bro" moments, but every once-in-a-while they surprise me.

remember when they released that big castle, and not too much later, the Lion Knight torsos and legs DID show up in the build-a-minifig bins? and in such quantities, that you might still be able to find some today.

they even had that Vidiyo unicorn head, re-colored yellow and deco'd to match. (those are probably all gone though)

It's a modern Lego "thing but lego" sculputre, what do you think? For god's sake, don't buy it just for the figures. You don't want all of them anyway. While I'm usually the last person to recommend buying select minifigures from an expensive set from a scalpnigger at a grossly inflated cost, it may legitimately be the better option here, even if it is playing into their hands.
